Each Day's a Gift and Not a Given Right

Looking down, Coryth's gaze fell to Kaida's hand. She lifted a hand lightly tracing over the scars. There was a certain appeal to someone who held nearly as many scars as she did, even if most of Coryth's came from a single source. There was a beauty in the scars she saw, knowing a story came with each. Scars showed what you had been through a mark of pain survived and in that there was much beauty. "You and me both. Dates are a little ... foreign to me. I mean most of my dates have consisted of tossing someone around a training room, then heading for dinner afterwards. Or ... swimming on Naboo ... and well ... some fun activities in my cabin their."

She smiled, "Yes, I have a sailboat. Just had it moved here not long ago." A chuckle followed, "Nah, just one or two and I'll be happy with that. Plus if I befriended more than that Mittens would get jealous." Yes, Mittens the nexu that had helped to save her in the end. "We could go out, and enjoy an afternoon or evening out on it. Hell, I could teach you how to sail, or even how to fish if you've never done it before."

Slowly she scooted a little closer to Kaida, leaning against her. "We'll just have to figure it out as we go. I think we both can be rather creative about that, and find something fun for us to do. Because frankly I don't see either of us as really the just dinner and lame movies as dates, kind of women."

Kaida had scars, yes. Plenty of them. Though they had been inflicted through part in the battles she had fought. She had not suffered in the way the little redhead had. Indeed, though her life had been far from ordinary, in comparison it had been rather normal. But perhaps relatively normal what was Coryth needed. Only time could tell. Kaida leaned closer against Coryth. "Agreed. Especially since I kind of suck at cooking. I am fairly good at dancing though. Angelii have parties sometimes," at that she winked at the Jedi. While Kaida was just as useless in the kitchen as Kerrigan, she was rather proud of the fact that she was far better on the dance floor!

"I'd like to go sailing. Fun fact, I found out I could use the Force when my home town was destroyed by a flood. I survived by freezing part of the river," she spoke. In an informative way as opposed to one asking for pity. Given what Coryth had went through, that would be terribly whiny. "Speaking of the Force, that trick about making illusionary copies of yourself...does have fun bedroom applications, doesn't it?" she asked, tone completely deadpan.

Coryth nodded, "Indeed. Not that great at cooking myself, sandwiches are about the extent of my cooking. At least I can't burn down a kitchen making a sandwich." Yes, there was a story behind that where she had started a kitchen fire. The poor dear managed to catch pasta on fire. Don't ask how .. It just happened. "Dancing? Really? I wouldn't have imagined you as the dancing type." The redhead thought about that for a moment. "It's been a long while since I've been dancing. And parties, I think I can handle that. Would be interesting for sure."

She grinned, "Well, we should make it a date then. I'll take you sailing, and you can take me dancing. How's that for a start?" She asked, "And I'm sorry to hear about your home town though." A chuckle followed as Kaida moved back to things that could be done in the bedroom. "Given what I just did, what do you think?" She said with a wink.

Kaida gave Coryth what came close to an...amused look when she mentioned burning down a kitchen whilst making a sandwich. "Well if you..try your hand at cooking or making sandwiches I can freeze the place if it goes ill. And if we run out of power, we'll still be able to do without a fridge," she tried to joke. Kaida's attempts at jokes were not getting any better, but it probably counted as something that Coryth had such power to make her even try her hand at them.

The conversation was getting strangely...domestic. It felt sort of weird to her. Not weird as in bad, just not something she was not used to. She smiled thinly at the little redhead. "It's a date." That word would take some getting used to for her. The wink from Coryth made Kaida flush though. Adventurous in a bedroom she might be, openly discussing it was a different matter, but then she had started first so she could not complain. Well, she obviously was not in a mood to do that anyway.

"I wonder how many illusionary Coryths you can manifest while I'm...deep inside you. I suppose I'll just have to find out," she winked at her, feeling a bit silly due to the massive corniness but she did not care. "On the topic of training, we can get to Tapas when you're up for it. It's mainly mind-based, so it should be easy for you to pick up."

Coryth couldn't help but laugh at that. "I suppose that is quite true. I wouldn't ever have to worry about burning down the kitchen so long as I have you in the apartment." She said, grinning from ear to ear. The jokes, the teasing back and forth she certainly was enjoying it so far. It'd been a long time since she'd really be this carefree about anything or anyone. Much less so open with someone she'd not gotten to know that well.

Even the redhead was a little surprised to where the conversation was heading. Very domestic indeed. It was a strange thing to her, to be talking about home life. Home ... was something she never really truly had. Well, she had a sailboat alright but that barely counted as a home. And even then she was barely on it. Home was a strange concept to her, something she was having to get used to that was for sure.

Coryth blushed a little at that remark, "I suppose we'll just have to find out. I've not played with them much in bed, so ... We'll just have to experiement." The idea made Coryth a bit eager to try, because, she could please and pleasure without having to move her physical body in the least, letting her illusions do the work. "Well now that I'm not feeling like I'm a giant ice block and somewhat warmer, we can work on that. I'd certainly like to try. Anything to counter ice, because otherwise I have little defense against what you can do to me with your cryomancy."

"Alright, as a matter of fact we can start now then. Tapas is not that difficult really, once you get the hang of it. Just takes plenty of concentration to use the Force to retain your body heat. If you do it correctly, the unbearable cold will be merely oppressive, still damaging to your focus but not unsurmountable. Means lower risk of frostbite and hypothermia. The same conversely applies in environments of extreme heat," Kaida explained.

"You must focus on the inside of your body, down to the lowest level, and will the temperature inside your body to change. I've found it easiest for me when I try to visualise things, like imagining I'm on the snowy plain of Hoth during a blizzard while I was fighting on Gehenna. Your mind visualises the image and you focus on the insides to adjust your temperature. I can lower the room temperature while you concentrate."

The redhead nodded, listening carefully to Kaida. "Doesn't sound that complex really. Just different." She said quietly. It didn't sound that much different to what she already did when it came to healing with Art of the Small. The same but so different.

"Guess I'll give it a shot." She said closing her eyes and allowing herself to relax. Reaching out she drew upon the tangled web of infinite power, drawing it bit by bit into herself. Visualization would have to come first, her mind drifting to the warm sunny beaches upon Corellia. The warm sands between her toes both irritating and enjoyable all at once. It took her a good deal longer before she could really begin to internalize that image, that thought and feeling. It might take her a time or two before she could do it but she certainly was going to try.

Kaida waited, giving Coryth time to form the image in her mind and acclimate herself to the exercise. After a few minutes had passed, she likewise focused upon her own power and unleashed it, albeit in a careful, precise manner. It would do Coryth no good if the entire room suddenly turned into Hoth.

Rather the temperature would drop bit by bit, giving her some time to get used to it though the decline would be noticeable. Then a strong coldness swept through the room as the air closest to them chilled. It would become rather uncomfortable for anyone who was not attuned to the bitter cold, though if Coryth was not taking to tapas well Kaida would obviously break off. After all, she really did not want to freeze her girlfriend. Especially since she had not yet taken her out to dinner.

Feeling the gradual shift in temperature, Coryth was doing her best to keep up as the hair upon her arms slowly raised in response. It took a lot more concentration than she imagined to attempt to ignore the chill and keep her focus inwards. To keep her mind on that image and with it try to keep herself warmer. It was taking longer than she expected to make any real difference in her own body temperature. A slight manipulation but not exactly what she wanted. So far just enough to keep her from chattering in the cold but that was about it. The strain growing more and more obvious as time went on, but still Coryth pushed through.

Kaida felt how Coryth was struggling amidst the coldness that was setting in. She could see the hairs slowly rising upon her arms, the strain that was on her face. However, she kept at it and slowly intensified her efforts. Bit by bit the cold chill would become stronger and stronger inside the room.

A gust of a chilly would brush against the redhead's skin as she sought to apply the power of tapas. It had not become unbearably cold for anyone, but focusing upon the Force would become more difficult, requiring more energy and focus from the redhead. "You're moving in the right direction. Keep at it," she said in what might count as an attempt at a pep talk. However, even her breath was frosty.

It was taking all she had to still keep her focus where she needed it. The redhead hardly confident that she could keep this up much longer. Slowly though, her body was warming up, the hairs on her arms starting to relax as her temperature started to reach near normal levels. It just took much longer than she had imagined but it had been a long while since she'd actually sat down to learn a new skill within the force. Still there was an odd difference to what she felt within her body to how her skin felt at the surface. And chilly difference that was getting harder and harder to ignore.

Sweat was starting to bead upon her forehead, and with it her concentration was starting to waver. She wouldn't be able to hold on that much longer. A few moments more was all she managed before the cold seeped deep within her body, breaking that fragile balance she had been working so hard to maintain. Her eyes snapped open as her body temperature started to plummet rapidly. Instantly Coryth was reaching for the blanket on the bed, seeking to wrap it around her tightly and try to warm herself up through more natural means. "N-not .. What I thought ... it would be." Coryth managed to speak as she started to shiver quite noticeably.

Immediately Kaida broke off her cold onslaught. Manipulation of the temperature was something that required finesse and was not easily dissipated. It was not so simple as flipping a switch and making the room temperature go back to normal. That was the trouble with all forms of alter environment, at a certain point things were out of your grasp.

Thus she had to concentrate as she, bit by bit, drew the cold back into her and allowed the room temperature to turn back to normal. Likewise the cold wind would lose its intensity and then die down, leaving only a shivering Coryth who probably now had to get used to the quick temperature rise. For her part Kaida saw what Coryth was seeking to do and tried to help by pulling the blanket tightly over the little redhead, before giving her a moderately awkward but still strong hug. "You alright? I imagine that was...very unpleasant."

Coryth nodded slowly, "I'll be okay." She said softly, still shivering under the blanket. "Just .... from comfortable, and fine, to frozen when I lost control over it. Yeah no ... Not at all fun." Sighing she leaned against Kaida grateful as the temperature in the room shifted back to normal. It was now feeling alright in the room, but Coryth still felt chilly. Taking her body a while longer to catch up with all the rapid changes. "The skill is odd. It's not all that different from what I do with healing, but at the same time still is different. Taking me a bit more to grasp it than I imagined it would."

"It is difficult at first, but you'll master it in time," Kaida said confidently. She was not really the sort for pep talks and it showed. However, she made sure Coryth's head was comfortably propped up on a pillow and pulled the blanket tighter around her. Then she briefly walked away and picked up the basin from earlier.

The water had frozen but she simply harnessed her power to literally break the ice and then pour it into a bin, before filling the basin up again with comfortably warm water after cleaning it. That done she returned and placed Coryth's cute little feet into the small tub, which would hopefully give the redhead some warmth. "I've yet to encounter a Sith who uses cryomancy, but it pays to be prepared."

She managed a soft smile, as Kaida helped to make her comfortable. Her body was still in a slightly confused state as to whether it was cold, hot, or both. "I hope so. Would be a nice skill to have with the invisibility, being able to change my body temperature to the whatever is around me to blend in.... Would be great."

"I think that would require the Sith to have more brains, talent and be something more than the stereotypical sadistic psychopathic creep." Coryth didn't even think they really counted for monsters. Just more like that creep stalker kid that wouldn't leave you alone at school that you kept catching staring at your boobs. "Hmmm, I think that might even be offensive to sadistic psychopathic creeps."

Coryth hissed slightly as her cold feet met with the warm water. "You know, I'm thinking I want to go some place warm for a date. Very warm." She said with a soft chuckle.

Kaida flushed slightly when Coryth spoke of going on a date. This would take some getting used to. It was the exact opposite of unpleasant though. An Angelii openly having a relationship with a 'human monkeigh' - especially one who was an OP government official - would definitely raise eyebrows. Then again, she did not really give a hang about what other people thought.

"I can definitely think of some nice, warm places for us to go," she said, smiling slightly, before leaning down to give the little redhead a kiss on her lips. As for Sith being a bunch of creeps, she was inclined to agree based on what she had seen so far.

Coryth grinned seeing Kaida flush. She was just far too cute in the redhead's eyes. It would take some getting used to, that was for sure. Coryth still felt weird about the dating thing. It'd been far too long since she'd last done things like this and hell she still wasn't certain she was capable of much flirtation at all.

In that moment, Coryth seemed rather content as she sweetly returned the kiss. "I'm sure there's a beach somewhere we can go to." Said with a wink as she shifted onto her side. By now the redhead's body seemed to have made up it's mind, and she was finally starting to feel nice and comfortable again. "Well, I think I'm finally getting back to normal. Suppose just need to give me a minute or two more and we can try again."

"Ok. If you get cold...I can always warm you up." Damn, that sounded terribly cheesy and she looked a bit embarrassed. To her she always sounded and felt a bit silly whenever she tried her hand at flirting. "If my lines get too corny, do tell. Or just smack me. I'd hate to sound like someone who gets her lines from Ashira's Angels."

Perish the thought, Kaida. You sound like someone who reads too much Babes and Bolters. Of course, you only do it for the articles, just like everyone else.

Coryth couldn't help but blush at the comment and for a moment she couldn't find her words to reply. She shook her head with a bit of a smile, "You're far too cute." A soft chuckle followed, "Nah, you are fine. I promise. I rather enjoy your lines as they are, why would I complain about that." She said with a playful wink.

Kaida allowed herself a smile at the playfulness. It was not something she was used to, but very pleasant. Certainly a feeling she could get used to. It felt relaxing to be able to unwind like this and be free of the restrictions of protocol. Even if trying to flirt still felt awkward to her!

"I'll keep that in mind the, hun," she said softly, stealing a kiss from Coryth's lips before leaning back. "If you're up for it now, we can start with tapas again. Brace yourself, it's about to get cold." No sooner had she said this in her usual matter-of-fact tone than that a cold chill began to sweep the room, growing and growing in intensity as the moments passed as she drew upon her Sciia.
