If we do go with being paired up as a group to compete against other npc groups, then I think it would make sense if we as a whole had only one sponsor instead of everyone having one.
It would essentially boil down to each sponsor having their own team that they "invest in". They would supply and show off their tech through said group and whoever's group wins would get bragging rights over everyone else and maybe a "contract" with the antagonists organizations for a year until the next event comes around.
