Etti Jetti - Rocket Fuel [Connor Harrison]

[member="Connor Harrison"]

"You knew my mother well", it was obvious through his words. "I am also pleased to hear that my old master has taken on her legacy, he is a good man".

The old pang of guilty had returned, Abaigeal could not meet his gaze, she did not want to see the eyes of judgement upon her. Only if she had not gone that day, just for some frivolous fun. The events after which wrote their demise her mother's demise, she torture and torment that she will have to live with for a very long time, hundreds of years in fact. Abaigeal would live through it all again if there was chance her mother would return to them.

"I am sorry", she did not want to say that, but the words fell from her mouth regardless. Her eyes welled with tears, once more as the nightmare entered her head again. She pulled in her breath, trying to steel herself and look at him. "You seem like a good man, she would be proud of you, I know she would. But if what you say is true, that her guidance is what had kept you on a good path, and without it you are fallen? Do you think she would want that? for you to be ever reliant on her?".

Seeing the signs of upset welling within, Connor gently rubbed her back to try and comfort her, for now it would be a flood of emotions racing in her head; strangers bringing up memories of a fallen parent, and facing a guilt you could never wash away is nothing but cruel.

When she complimented him, it was Connor’s turn to look away and feel the emotions; failure…guilt…frustration.

”No, I…I don’t think she’d be proud of me at all. Maybe that’s why I’m here now. At a time I’d want her to be proud, to do something she’d be proud OF. I’ve hurt lots of people. Friends and the like, and I’ve not seen those I deemed close to me for many months. Am I missed? Maybe, but not greatly and I’m glad because I don’t deserve to be.”

He rubbed his nose, a tick at feeling slightly embarrassed.

”I have fallen, but it’s time to pick myself up because it’s probably the last chance I have before I fall and can never get up again.”

Connor glanced up side ways to her, a little wry smile at the edge of his lip.

”A right barrel of laughs I am.”

"You and me both", she grinned back, but hesitated before she spoke again. "The reason .. the reason why I left Voss in the first place was because of the pressure I was feeling being her daughter. You know, the daughter of a grand master, someone who had built an Order from the ground up because the she had lost her way and that was her way of find the path back to her purpose. I am so proud of her for doing that, fighting for a new direction not only for those that followed her but for herself too. How .. how was I ever going to match that or live up to it?".

Abaigeal pushed the glass of juice away with her finger, just to do something to still her mind, "So I rebelled and went to find some fun, and because of that she is dead. I have come to terms with it .. to a point. But it will never be completely removed, how could it be".

"But one thing I do know now, is that I will never dishonour her name again. I will not waste her sacrifice by throwing my life away or walking toward that path of no return. You never really return from it you know .. you know why? because we all have darkness in us the day we are born, it is normal to have the ability to do wrong. We need it, so we know how to do right".

She turned to look at him, consider him for a moment. His face mature and lines crossing the brow that are not there because of age but more from life experience . . probably more than he should at this age. She wondered what he had seen while walking his path along the line of life, in a few words he had already told her much.

"You maybe right, maybe you have done things that she would not have approved of, and she may not have been proud of you. But one things do know is that she would have helped you find a way back, would have forgiven and would have applauded you for finding your home once more. The Silvers where always about family, I hope they still are".

He brought his fingers together on the table, tapping them absently as he listened. He had to shake his head however, hearing the daughter of an E’ron put herself down.

”Abaigeal, this is easy to say, but it’s not your fault what happen to your mother. Not at all. If anyone can be blamed, it that Sith. He took you when you didn’t ask to be, and he did those things to you. Your mother proved how much she loved you and how brilliant she was a person by coming to find you and free you. They had no right doing what they did to you, so if you want to blame someone, blame Vornskr.”

Connor turned a little in his seat, trying to inject an enthusiasm in his voice for her.

”And the Silvers are still one big, at times dysfunctional, family. All brought together under the roof your mother made for them. We have expanded, and people from all corners of the galaxy are with us now striving forward to reach the goal your mother set out for us to do. We have a strong fleet, we have healers, pilots, soldiers and even politicians of all ages. It’s certainly not dwindling, and that goes for your mothers’ memory too. And it never will.”

He cocked his head to get her eye line.

”If you think you’ve done wrong, but you’re here now ready to better yourself, and I have done wrong but am here now ready to better MYself, then Iella E’ron instilled something wonderful in us, didn’t she.”

A gentle smile formed, as comforting as he could be.

”Hope.”

Abaigeal's face grew with a smile as he told her of her old home. "I am pleased to hear that. I think it was always dysfunctional but it was always family. She did, hope was a big thing with her, she never gave up, on anything".

"I know .. it was not my fault, not entirely anyway, but that day I guess saw the force exact a will of fate for us both". She pursed her lips together, not really knowing what to think anymore. "I know it is wrong to want revenge, and my mother would not be pleased with me for thinking and wanting it, but there is something I must do before I can move on, something I need to do for myself". She would tell him what that was, that is a journey she must take alone.

"What are doing now?, I mean you seem to looking for something. What are you going after?".

Connor nodded as she spoke, shuffling slightly in his seat and resting on his elbows, feeling more comfortable the more they talked, and feeling better this grey mist was lifting over the mystery that had personally plagued him for years.

”I understand. Just...if you need anything, if you get into trouble, please contact me, or even the Temple if you need to. There's nothing wrong with doing what you're doing, at least I don't think so. We are human - not robots, and we need to embrace emotion, but also control it. We don't want to lose all our humanity now do we.”

Now moving to her question, he studied her face and pondered what she said. Before he could have given plenty of answers, but now it wasn't so easy.

”I'm looking for what you're looking for - redemption. The little flicker of light to lead out of this murky place. And answers, but you're pretty much giving my everything I need to settle that, so I guess it's just redemption. And myself. I'm looking for Connor.”

With that, he tapped his chest.

”He's in here, I just have to find him and let him out. How about you then - when you've done what you need to do, what will you do then?”

Abaigeal bristled, a chill ran down her spine as he spoke. It sent a wave of cold through her body which made her visibly tremble. An image flashed in her mind, she and he were standing atop a peak, a spire of great height, it is dark and there is much power in the force. They are both facing something, something .. Other, and they are in a situation that requires them both to work together to get out. But there is more, but she cannot grasp it, illusive and slipping away. But then another vision and it was her mother. Standing smiling and beckoning them both to come, she is vague in appearance, a shimmering blur of blue.

Iella appears in their minds eye, no one else sees her. Her hands extends out to them both, as if she wants them to take it so she can lead them away .. Iella turns her head as if looking at something and she points to it, giving them both a direction to go west. She smiles and as she does .. she fades away.

All this time Abaigeal had been holding her breath and only now she releases it in a loud gasp. She turns to Connor to see if he saw her, her eyes wide with amazement and sadness rolled into one big emotion. Abaigeal wanted to run to her, but she knew deep down it was not possible.

"Redemption", able to speak finally. "I know what she wants us to do", she said with little breath.

Fingers resting on the lip of the glass of drink he had in his hand, Connor looked down for a second to suddenly remember they had food waiting for them. At this minute the burgers could wait. Abaigeal was lost in thought or something – her eyes had glazed over fixing on nothing and her body was still, as if she had…gone.

But he didn’t shake her or grab her attention. He just looked out to where she was looking and lowered his head, taking a mouthful of drink, swilling it around his mouth and then swallowing it, smacking his lips together. This was somehow easier for Connor than expected, but for the girl it must have been far harder, so he was in no rush for answers to his deep questions.

And then, just like that, she came back with a slight gasp. Their faces met as one looked to the other. She spoke in a way that sounded like she’d just seen something in her mind’s eye. Not staring out a bar wall, but looking into a moment or a space in time that had yet to arrive. This was only cemented by her breathless voice.

”Are you alright? What do you mean “she”? Your mother?” Connor asked quietly.

The situation was slightly un-nerving if what he thought had just happened DID happen.

[member="Connor Harrison"]

"You.. you did not see her?", Abaigeal continued to look at the place her mother had appeared. "Yes, my mother. I saw her and she wants us to go to a place that will test us both. Her gaze fell on you as much as myself and she held out both hands for us to take, she wants us to go ... toward the west".

Finally Abaigeal turned away and looked directly at Connor. "And I know where. I remember that she went to face the Five Priestesses .. force priestesses that basically put you through a trial. Jedi trails are nothing compared to this ... she never told me what happened or where it is exactly but I know that is what she wants you and I to do".

She searched his face, looking for anything that would give her his thoughts. "I know, you don't me and I don't know you, but ... I think, we need to do this". Abaigeal would not be looking for the secrets of immortality, that would be the last thing on her mind considering she will an eternity as it is.

Connor’s blue eyes looked from the girls, to the space where there was nothing but the walls of the bar and patrons milling along. She must have had a vision.

”I saw nothing,” he said calmly. Then he looked to her as she spoke.

Things were happening so fast – exiling himself away from the Temple to avoid hurting others, and then travelling the hyperspace routes, meeting the Baran Do monks, obtaining a new ship, now this? It was like the brakes were off Connor’s path now, and he was rocketing forward with no time to think and simply to act.

Maybe that was the best way now? To career headlong into this to see how he fared and if he came out the other side? There was nothing better to cleanse the mind and body than going through life this fast.

Now this girl he knew little of may be the one to hold a key to coming out in one piece. But talks of Priestesses? Trails? Force visions guiding him?

”I don’t know you, but you’re the daughter of the woman who saved me.”

He folded his arms and leant forward on the table.

”Maybe it’s come to this – the next generation of the E’ron bloodline having to save me one final time. Maybe it’s my calling, to be saved by angels without wings who pick me up and set me down on the right path.”

Now it was time for Abaigeal to feel overwhelmed, the vision of her mother very fresh in her mind's eye and all she wanted was for her to return before them and never leave. She let out a long sigh and watched as this man spiraled with emotions of which she had no idea of why. Time will reveal more, she knows some but this man have a heavy heart and laced with uncertainty. She can not blame him, walking into the unknown with an unknown person.

"Angel? that is the second time I have been called that", she smiled. This suddenly reminded her of Sio, oh what was she going to tell her about this wild idea?

"There is someone you need to meet before we go", she said, as the fact that they would go was written in the force, that much was clear to her now. "[member="Siobhan Kerrigan"], my guardian. I will need to speak with her before we depart".

With that Abaigeal stood up and prepared to leave the diner with Connor for the Firemane HQ.

He gave her a half-smile.

”Well there you are then. Angel. That’s settled it.”

Drumming his fingers on the glass, eyes flicking up discreetly looking to where Iella had appeared, as if searching for something himself, he suddenly came back and took to following Abaigeal as she moved up with renewed energy.

”[member="Siobhan Kerrigan"]?” The name struck a chord. ”I’ve heard of her but don’t think I’ve met her – she was one who came over with the merger with the Levantine Sanctum a while ago. I think.”

He took his glass and finished the drink with a deep breath to take it all in and swallow before following.

”Guardian you say? What a small world.”

While Aba and Connor were having their sweet moment of bonding and deciding to go on a Jedi Trial, Siobhan was wrapping up a meeting of the Board Control. The board was somewhat ironically named because a number of its members were definitely not in control! Far as Siobhan was concerned, Firemane was best run as a family dictatorship and worked best if everyone did as she told them to do.

"I'm glad we've reached a consensus then," she said without any hint of irony in her voice. "I don't want the Tygaran skytrain finished in nine months, I want six. We have the droids, we have the technology, and millions of Eldorai in makeshift settlements who need connecting." One of the board members, an elderly, distinguished looking man in a fine suit, who was attending via hologram, was about to make a point but then thought better of it when she shot him a look. "Likewise, we'll be continuing the relief operation on Kaeshana..."

"Ma'am, when our people first landed on the planet they were fired upon by the natives. It's not just a massive credit sink hole, but too dangerous. The Eldorai on it are...

"A mess, I know. I flew across burning Santaissa and slaughtered cultists to save my little girl. I got out minutes before the asteroid fell. Nonetheless, that's my will. Since it's your people whose life is on line, I'm sure you'll be ideal to direct this operation, Elara."

The finely dressed Eldorai presumably muttered something scathing under her breath. "Yes, Lady. Of course. But our operations will be hampered as long as there's nothing resembling a functioning government there. As much as I pray to Ashira for it to be otherwise, our people have fallen into anarchy."

"The planet got toasted and most of those who got off were the wealthy. So I can't blame the survivors! Nonetheless, your point is noted. The emergency government was gutted, but I'm not abandoning the planet. If need be we'll talk to warlords or impose our own. That is all." And so, with varying degrees of enthusiasm, the board members filed out of the room. However, one of them, a very attractive blonde human approached Siobhan as the Vice President arose, touching her shoulder and giving it a squeeze.

"Well, that was invigorating, wasn't it?" she asked sarcastically. "I'll have the report on the Valora walker for you tomorrow. Initial field test appears to be promising. Unlike some I make an effort to get things done rather than hand-wringing, though I suppose Tyrell may be grumpy because you killed his pet project last month."

"That's what I like about you, Marita," Siobhan said, her lips curving into a bright smile before she pulled the woman into a deep kiss, threading her fingers through her golden hair. Marita responded eagerly as they locked lips, before she pulled away.

"Not here, Sio. Anyone could walk in," she spoke, giving her boss a slight wink.

In response Siobhan just shrugged. "So what? If it's a pretty secretary she can join the fun."

In response Marita chuckled slightly and shook her head. "You're incorrigible," she stated, though she did not seem to mind that much! "Word is the GA is the new kid on the block that wants to take down the Sith? It's all very righteous and dramatic. Want to place bets?"

"Not on galactic politics, I'm afraid. If they actually get something done, good. Since the Republic has failed, the Silvers are sitting around in their corne hoping the storm will pass by and the Mandalorians spend all their whining about their old 'glory days' while being a masterful example of inertia," Siobhan replied. "If not, well, we're not getting bound to them."

"An astute analysis. You are getting the hang of the job. Anything new on the Xioquo front?"

"Tell you what, come to my suite later and I'll give you all the juicy info." Totally an exclusive. It was important to work closely with your board members.

"Spending time with my boss behind close doors in her very luxurious suite? Such a scandal, I can imagine the tabloids eating this up. I'll bring lube." Another kiss and Marita departed from the meeting room, her hips swaying delicately and giving Siobhan a good view of her shapely butt. The Dark Jedi enjoyed the view, then picked up her cane and departed.

The walk through the Firemane compound took some time. Abaigeal lead Connor through a maze of activity, people moving across the grounds in all directions, soldiers doing exercises and drills, in the distance one could hear explosions, no doubt Firemane personnel testing some new weapon or it was Sio blowing something up again. But no, she knew the latter was not correct. Abaigeal could sense Sio in Head Quarters, their friendship had bonded and her presence within the force now strong to the young girl.

Entering the building, Abaigeal went straight toward Sio's office and informed her secretary they had arrived. As they waited, Abaigeal pondered on how she would tell Sio of their intentions. She will let that play out as it comes.

"Yes, my guardian. She took me in when I did not have a place to call home, or friends apart from one person I had met when in exile. I was in a bad place at that time and Sio listened and more importantly, she understood". In time Abaigeal will be able to call the Silver Sanctum home once more.

Connor was seeing more and more of the galaxy recently than he felt he had over the last few years. The complex was alive, like another civilisation or underground city, with so much activity and noise and sensory stimulation, he didn’t know where to look.

He followed Abaigeal through, eager to see what she was planning and also to meet this [member="Siobhan Kerrigan"] finally. He’d heard stories about her, here and there, but never met her. Now it seemed was the time.

"She sounds a strong minded woman, and if this is her little empire then certainly know what she is doing. I’m not surprised I haven’t seen her. I get the feeling that when she wants to be seen, she will be seen. If not, then you never will."

He sidestepped a mouse droid looking rather battered but fully operational as they came to wait outside the apparent office of Miss Kerrigan. Connor glanced around at a number of, dare he say, rather attractive female officers passing through. She kept good company at least.

Catching Abaigeal looking at him looking around, he flashed a smile and rocked on his heels; waiting.

Connor and Aba would not have to wait long before the door to Siobhan's office opened. The first one out was a rather pretty female secretary, whose red mane was slightly ruffled for some reason. Upon stepping out, she surreptitiously straightened her skirt.

The woman gave Connor a curious glance before settling on Aba, who by now was a known quantity in the Company. After all, Siobhan showing up with unknown girls and mothering over them was nothing new by now. "Go in, sweetie. Your mother will see you now," she said warmly. Maybe she was just nice, maybe she thought that being pleasant to the woman's adoptive kid would give her brownie points and thus earn her a raise!

Regardless, as if by some invisible force the door opened and they were led inside. The office was very large and grand, perhaps excessively so, which was no surprise because Siobhan was the sort to show off her wealth. A psychologist might speculate about the reason. A very expensive carpet was spread across the floor and the large desk was made out of some rare wood from Kashyyyk. Likewise there was a minibar because of reasons. A door connected the place to a private bathroom, also because of reasons.

However, Siobhan was not sitting on her throne-like leather chair when the two entered, but rather arose quickly, leaving the desk that was stacked with datacards and aurebesh-sigilled folders behind her. Well, she arose as quickly as she could for a woman with a bad limp, but it was the effort that mattered. Speaking of the desk, if one were to look closer one would find holopics of Tegaea and Sio's three daughters on it. "Aba, dear. Glad to see you. How was your day in town?" she asked brightly as she stepped towards the girl, then pulled her into a hug. It was then that her glance fell on Connor. Please, Goddess, don't make this be her boyfriend! "Who's your friend?"

Abaigeal flashed a look to Connor as the secretary left the room all ruffled up and informed her they could enter. She could not help but grin, "Yes a very strong willed woman". This is very true of Sio, anyone having heard of her would know it from her profile alone.

However, she sensed a strange vibe from Sio and Connor and she entered the office. "Hello mother, it is good to see you", she said offering her a warm hug. Once the show of affection was completed, Abaigeal stepped back, "This is Master Connor Harrison from the Silver Sanctum, and a good friend of my mothers. He came to Etti to find me".

Abaigea would wait for the pleasantries to be completed before she would hit Sio with their possible plan.

Following young Abaigeal in the trim office, Connor noticed their “host” – or “mother” – before them and the face certainly was familiar; the slight glint in her eye spoke of how she was wary of the man before her.

”I am pleased to finally meet you, Miss Kerrigan. I am sure our paths have crossed subconsciously many times before, but it’s good to have them meet here."

With his introduction, Connor gave a small bow of the head.

Ok, he was not her boyfriend! This was good because he was way too old. In the light of the fact that Sio's first lover, Adril Tythorin, had been seventy years older than she was, this opinion might've been a bit hypocritical. Then again, Adril had been an Eldorai and their aging was weird.

So she gave her daughter a smile and squeezed her shoulder fondly before turning her attention to Connor. "Nice to meet you, Master Harrison. I'm glad my daughter has friends with the Sanctum. She's had a rough time, but I'm very proud of her. She's such a sweet girl," She might have been trolling just a bit with these words, but they were heartfelt.

"Please sit down. Would you like something to drink?" she asked politely. There was a loud ringing noise when her comm started beeping. Presumably a minion or a client wanted to talk to her. Feeling a bit annoyed, Siobhan walked over and pressed a button. "Maerys, hold my calls unless it's urgent," she said bluntly and then switched the device off. She did not like it when people interrupted family time. As for hitting Sio with the plan Aba and Connor hashed out, it was always good to butter her up first, since flattery put her in a good mood.

After the initial greetings, Abaigeal gave Sio a warm hug. It simply would not do to launch into the plans they had especially after the offer of refreshments. "Water would be find thank you mother you are most kind". Abaigeal indicated for Connor to take a seat.

"Sio, Master Harrison's visit to Etti .. has come because of a need to find me. I had not contacted the Silver .. Sanctum", she corrected because of their new name. "But the force had guided him and after speaking with him, there is more to this meeting than simply finding his old friends daughter. Mother ... mother appeared to me, Iella spoke guiding me .. us, to venture together on a personal mission. I need to do it, I need to go and Connor has agreed to come with me".

Abaigeal sat down in a chair, contemplating what this all means, where they would find themselves in the days to come.
