Hooked on a feeling - Blue Swede

One flare of light would reveal a sphere of light around the Warden, something that apparently was enough to push back the critters around her. Granted, that didn't help out much with the spore clouds. Ever so slowly, she'd carefully start to make her way into the salvage wreck.

A grimace would reveal that the spore cloud was starting to react against her environmental suit. Warning sigils would dance across her HUD to state that instead of the four hour timeframe, she actually had one. Already there was an odd burn to her suit, and she wasn't too keen on seeing that. For now, the suit was holding -- but she wouldn't be able to stay out here too long.

For precautionary measures, she drew her comm wrist up. It might be good to get the Aurora Hawk to be prepped for slave circuit flying to her area for a quick extraction if she needed to. A tap of the fingers would start that process. Another series of taps would reveal the charted mapping of the two droids she had sent out earlier.

prometheus-scanner.jpg

A wide smile would briefly break for once in the past fifteen minutes. She had the place mapped. Good. A small red beep gave an indication that one of the droids had stopped mapping -- it wasn't moving forward.

Time to investigate.

(I believe there was even still an unclaimed item after re speed reading through, having only taken one my self even through all the posts I have done. I did not shift sides to find more 'rewards', simply looking to RP with someone I have yet to do such with. If you wanted, as I said. If I end up going through enough ideas and such, I may attempt to claim a second but even then it still has to be ok'ed by [member="Jorus Merrill"], [member="Chloe Blake"])

Heading to the far right this time, as the left previously led to doom, Damien cast his night vision along both walls as he walked. Even inside you could hardly tell you were inside a ship. There was foliage, literally everywhere. Vines ran along walls, humongous bushes shwished swayed, it was even more surreal than a massive front of Zombies.

Damien counted his skills and weaponry: his body was somewhat healed, his energy reserves roughly halfed, he still held his saber and a single Betty pistol, Tantibus was on his spine as always. His armor was severely dented and battered after what it had taken, there were deep burn marks all along its front thanks to the recent spore attacks.

He was worn, but still ready for more.

Taking a deep breath, Damien lunged through a huge barrier created by twisting combining masses of vines that had long razor sharp tips all along its sides. Just as he was pushing against the sharp needles, Damien yelled out in pain as many went clear through several points along his body. None could puncture his armor wholy, but those that slipped between the cracks legitametly shot through his body.

Roaring out in pain, the sheer strength of it enfused his words with the Force, ripping through the vines and blasting them down the hall. Dropping to his knees, the man felt blood pool along the power section of his jaw. Nearly 7 foot long spikes now lay completely through his arms, legs, and lower stomach.

Moving his left arm, which luckily was undamaged, he gripped one by one and removed them. Next, he took the tip of his saber and cauterize the many points. In the end the stench of scorched flesh was powerful, but Damien would still live.

Pausing in one of the worst places he could, Damien immersed himself in the Force, hoping to heal himself for the second time in such a short time - it was farther from possible than he thought, but maybe he could lessen the worst damage and pain.

Jaani let [member="Mrrew"] drop through the door. The Togorian made almost no noise, but Jaani didn't have time to check if his partner had landed safely: he could hear the Sith spawn bearing down on them.

Grasping the handle of the door with both hands he dropped into the next room, pulling the door behind him. He was left dangling from the wall by the circular locking mechanism. Reaching out with his left hand, he awkwardly found some purchase and yanked hard. The handle was spun round half a turn, hopefully locking the door shut.

He heard a scratching sound above, presumably the beasts on the door. He changed his grip and went to give another half turn, just to be sure.

Suddenly the strength in his left arm failed him and he dropped like a stone. He hit the ground awkwardly, twisting one ankle and crumbling to the floor next to the Togorian. He lay there, breathing deeply, trying to force some air into his lungs and strength back into his limbs.

(Oops, sorry, I forgot to reply last time! My bad.)

Mrrew landed on all fours to absorb the impact of the fall- he had no idea how long it would be. Turns out he needn't had worried. All that did was send flashes ofpain up his left arm,w here the large bite wound was. He had a feeling it was bad. He'd have his medical droid look at it once they got back to the ship. The Togorian looked up, seraching for his partner, just as he fell from the door, dropping awkwardly next to him. Great. They were both wounded, in the middle of a crashed star destroyer, no idea which way is out, or even if there is an out, and the entire place was crawling with monsters.

Mrrew lowered a hand to help Jaani up. "Are you alright?"

Damien once more spoke to no one, wondering if the force would carry the words, "Any advice you can throw my way now?" He hoped the being that had warned him would have something else to say at this point. (@velok). Rising to his unsteady footing, Damien moved slowly forward, his hand outstretched to help balance as it drug against the wall.

Panting the man tapped his helm, "Voice..monitor my vitals for me would ya?"

"Already have been sir. You have lost quite a bit of blood, your energy reserves are dwindling intensely; sir I would honestly leave if I was you."

"You know that I wont Voice. Quit with the whiny.." Damien paused to take a breath before continuing, "Bs before I shut you down...Sorry Voice. Its infuriating to be at this point. Once I had nearly a hundred spirits powering me, I was nearly untouchable!!" He said with a sigh.

"I do understand this sir, I have been alongside you for it all. Never have I even wished I was else where. Your my friend, my defender, and my creator." Voice replied, "I will continue to monitor you Damien, but only if when I say leave and mean it, that you will do so."

"Very well voice." Damien said with a sigh. He was weary, how long he could continue this trek was in question...

Closer, and closer still. The planet had begun to reclaim this piece of the ship, and she would discover that the further in she went. Her helmet flashlights would send beams of illumination, but there would be a thin slimy coating of bioluminesence upon the walls. Further observation would see all matters of critters sliding over it, as if they had claimed the Dark Hex for their home, much like salvage in the seas would soon bear coral polyps. This was their foundation.

A wince would come to the Warden, the fungal spores eating away at her suit. "Feth!" she would curse. She needed to get as much of it off. She had some arson salts, but she wasn't sure if that would help or not. But maybe with the Force --- everything was living. Everything connected. So the Warden would summon the Force to her. In this, she would attempt to push the spores away from her suit -- at least as much as she could.

It succeeded, if only to push as much of the spores away. Another Force push would send them blowing against the wall -- which may not have been the best of ideas because now they had a place to latch onto -- and feed. Who knew how fast their growth could be?

Either way, she'd continue on and finally come up to the place where her mapping droid gently would tap against a closed door.

probe.gif
What was this? She'd start to walk over, getting a closer inspection. There was the slimy bioluminecent coating again. Curiouser still, what was behind the door? And how did one open it?

Naast'ika Laaran danced and played with the forest. He dipped and rolled through the air as he traveled over the sprawling green carpet of life. His belly scraped against the canopy again and again, leaves bursting wildly each time. Small creatures scattered and fled as he roared through the sky. Trees shook and insects fell like rain to the jungle floor below. Here and there a larger animal took brief notice before Naast'ika had flown far enough away to be lost to the creature in question.

It was fun and games for Naast'ika.

Until he was forced to a sudden and violent stop.

Trees and foliage exploded into the air as Naast'ika's bow dipped violently below the forest canopy, his aft end protruding spectacularly. Naast'ika's voice beeped loud and chaotic to those on his bridge, his panic and confusion obvious to them. Naast'ika poured energy into his Neuroengines and the powerful singularities that held him aloft burst with enhanced strength. Slowly, desperately, Naast'ika pulled himself above the treeline. Leaves and twigs, full branches and the nests of creatures drifted up above the forest and soared towards the singularities above Naast'ika. Small creatures were catapulted from their home in safe wooden trees and flung through the air towards the singularities created by Naast'ika. Some simply slingshotted past the sudden and violent source of gravity, their paths arcing inward as they passed the zenith of their trajectory before being tossed away and discarded by the effects of Newtonian Physics. Other creatures were not so lucky, getting pulled from their roosts and sucked directly into the ball of gravity that also pulled at Naast'ika Laaran's body.

Ever so slowly, Naast'ika emerged above the tops of the trees and ascended as far as his body would let him. "Please, Naast'ika. You must calm down!" Cried out the voices of Captain Tupu and Commander Kain. It seemed as if they had been pleading to him the whole time, but he had simply been in to severe a state of panic to hear them. "Focus on your sensors. We can't help you if we don't know what's happening!" Came the voice of Naast'ika's Captain.

He tried to comply. He had no choice really. He was scared and he was already trying to run away, but it wasn't working. So he focused on his surroundings. His sensors flared with energy as they sought out magnetic and gravity disturbances in the area. Radio, Radiation, and Electronic signals were searched for. And in the end, it was his lifeform sensors that detected his attacker.

Dozens of massive vines were wrapped around Naast'ika's aft end. Tail and Nacelle alike were enveloped by dozens of thick, green vines that appeared to disappear into the thick, leafy canopy of the forest to whatever anchorage was being used on the other end. Captain Tupu began to speak once more, before the images on the forward viewscreen forced him to silence once again. The vines were twisting and churning over Naast'ika's hull. They were constricting the bio-ship. Vines were pulled taunt and new vines snaked their way towards Naast'ika's hull as a battle of strength took place between Naast'ika and his Neuroengines and the powerful vines that sought to drag him down and consume him.

Panicked bleeps filled the bridge as Naast'ika struggled harder to break free.

He did not want to be eaten!

Jaani accepted the paw. His legs gave the slightest wobble as he regained his footing. He'd been through bad times before and had always been able to drag his corpse through them, but he had to admit he was close to the edge. "I'll get by," he growled. His heart rate had dropped to normal, but there weren't many bits of him left that weren't racked with pain.

The glowball illuminated the sides of the small room. No doors beneath them, just one above and on each wall. In the corner was a small metal safe, half open. Jaani decided to look inside and found a curious device in a plastic, well-padded box. He decided to add it to his pack.

Reached up, he opened the door that was away from the direction of the Tuk'ata nests. A wide grin cross his face.

"Light!" he called the @Mrrew. One long corridor, punctuated by dips and raises from bulkheads - afterall they were on their side - but nevertheless a clear run to an exit.

His joy receded as he saw several shadows slither about in the distance. A two hundred metre run - more of a hurdle dash - and they would be at an exit. He couldn't tell how many creatures were between them and the exit. He unslung his favourite club and grasped it with his right hand, his weakened left took the fletchette pistol. "One last run?" he asked.

-----

Final component claimed (if we haven't already)

Mrrew looked down the corridor, smiling at the light at the end of the tunnel, so to speak. He was wary about those shadows though... They looked to small to be Tuk'ata. He'd rather they were Tuk'ata. At least he knew what those were. The Togorian nodded at [member="Jaani Doosun"] and pulled out his Phrik blade with his cybernetic arm. All they had to do was run down a two meter corridor containing some new kind of monster that could probably flay the fleh off their bones in a few seconds, if they were anything like what they'd met before. Fantastic. Mrrew glanced at Jaani. His leg was injured- he'd be slower. "I'll go first."

Mrrew turned back to the corridor, and squinted at the light shining from the end of the corridor. And he ran forwards, as fast as his legs could carry him.

Chloe would reach out to take the mapping droid in her hand, confusion and curiosity bathing her face. "What do we have here?" she'd take a couple of steps closer towards the large doors, the light of her helmet illuminating the intricate designs.

"What kind of ship was this?" she'd wonder aloud, a hand rising to trace the lines. It wasn't something she'd seen before, and for the life of her she couldn't seem to connect this design. Her thick gloves would run along the sides, sliding that coating of bio-luminecent slime which would activate and glow brighter with each stroke.

Did this have something to do with the planet? Or was this part of the ship as well? Her fingers would rub together, as she would frown. Glancing about, she would investigate further. To the right, there would be a small console. Perhaps one used to open the door? This would be more like it.

Electronic manipulation along with a lifetime of tinkering with ships and droids gave Chloe an advantage. Her studies of fatebending with the Nuns and traveling throughout the galaxy added to the experience. While the strange design would take a bit longer to manipulate, Chloe was determined.

The hiss and suction of air as the seal broke to the doors signaled success. Now the only question left was to determine what was inside? She would pull out a small scanner, wanting to know if there were any notable differences in the atmosphere here. One didn't want to accidentally find methane. Step by cautious step, she went inside of the large chamber.

What she saw could only be explained by a simple word: Extraordinary.

Jaani sprinted as hard as he could. Every long stride brought new and exquisite pains. He vaulted over an oddly angled bulkhead, the landing sending shocks of pain up through his ankles and calf muscles. The shadows ahead of them started to gather, he still couldn't make out what they were. Choosing an odd course of action, he screamed as they ran towards them. Suddenly the shadows jolted and receded.

Jaani had hoped that might have been the end of it, some local fauna backing away from an unknown predator. Then something launcher out of the shadows to his right. He didn't see much more than a triangular set of jaws and leathery, clawed wings. He reacted before he'd even seen the thing, the heavy head of his club whipping round. Jaani didn't even see it connect, just felt the crack as the shadow was suddenly behind him. [member="Mrrew"] and himself were so close to the light now, but he could feel the creatures gathering around them.

Oh, fantastic. Yet another strange an exotic thing to get eaten by. If they werne't both injured and exghausted, he might've considered tryingt o capture a few for selling back in the Galaxy. Right now he just wanted to make sure they didn't swarm around them both like pirahna beetles. The light was just ahead. Luckily, he hadn't been as injured as [member="Jaani Doosun"] through his little adventure, mostly fighting with a rifle rather then a club, so he was able to leap over the same awkward bulkhead as Jaani with relitive ease. However, he didn't have a club. And when a second of the small creatures jumped out of the shadows, he wasn't as prepared at Jaani had been. The vicious bat-like creature clung onto his face like something out of a cliched movie, snapping it's small triangular mouth full of sharp jagged teeth at Mrrew's throat. Still trying to run while trying to rip off the vicious little bat-like creature wasn't quite a good idea though. When the second bulkhead came up, he didn't see it.

Mrrew fell over the bulkhead, crashing onto the ground to Jaani's right. The good news; He was able to rip the miniature predator off. The bad news; the others that were hiding in the shadows saw fallen prey. Mrrew was right about 'swarming like pirahna beetles'.

Every footstep would resonate within the vast expanse of the chamber, perfect acoustics like that of an amphitheater. Curiosity would drive each step, her flashlight sending a beam of illumination across the walls and around the chamber itself.

What manner of wildlife from the outside had not yet claimed what lay in here. Everything appeared to be in good order, but she knew that could be rather misleading. Up ahead, there was a half circle counter of sorts, with various scattered remnants on the floor from the initial crash.

"What was all of this?" she'd murmur to herself, taking a closer look. That is when she saw them. Perfectly mummified remains of those who had called this ship their own, their expression locked for eternity in what would appear to be fright. After giving a small prayer for the dead to the Gods, Chloe would take a closer inspection. Coming to a knee, she would notice a rather particular bone talisman wrapped round one of the mummies necks.

What was this? Her hand would reach down to gently take a closer look. While time had done well for the dead, it hadn't done so with the rope from which the talisman hung. Perhaps it had already been on frayed edges. Either way, the talisman would fall loosely upon Chloe's hand.

*********************

[member="Jorus Merrill"] strange bone talisman.

Jaani skidded to a halt. He fired his fletchette pistol down a corridor to his left. The screech was deafening. The small creatures were relatively delicate and the cloud of metal shards ripped through them with ease. How the pair of them had gone from blunder to blunder on this trip he had no idea. First a garden of spitting plants, then dropping right into a Tuk'ata's litter, then a nest of some night-time flyers.

Night time. Somehow, he hadn't consciously noticed the clicking. Echo-location.

"Stay down!" he shouted as he fired his pistol over [member="Mrrew"] 's head at the closest swarm of shadowy shapes. They writhed and coalsced in a dark mass. Each individual indistinguishable. They cried out as one as they died. He dropped his cherished club and cracked another glowball. He through it into the nearest mass, sure enough they shrieked and flapped away from the light.

Just a hundred metres, they just needed to get a little farther and they'd be...

"Argh!" he shouted in pain as one of the little fethers clamped its jaws down on his shoulder.

Mrrew slowly pushed himself to his feet once Jaani had gotten the swarm away from him. He was covered in small scratches and bite marks, blood pouring from several of the larger wounds, and matting his fur. They needed to get out of here, they needed to get to his ship, to the medbay. Light worked... but it wouldn't keep them gone for long. The Togorian looked up in time to see another one latch onto Jaanni's shoulder. Feth. Mrrew turned, half running half limping towards the exit. He could hear the swarm recovering from the suprise of the light. Getting reayd to come at them again. Hisd ears twitched with every click. The clicking. Mrrew came to the same conclusion as Jaani; Echolocation.

Which made this a lot easier.

Mrrew turned as the Swarm began to fly from the shadows again, snagging several thermal detonators from his bandoelir. one after another, he tossed them off into the b lack mass that was the swarm. As soon as he threw them, the swarm was all around them. Mrreww started running towards the light. "Run!"

A split second after he yelled, the detonators went off.

When people think of grenades, they usually think of the explosion. SOmetimes strong enough to bring down supports, or compeltely vaporize a human. Then there's the noise. The noise known to make soldiers go deaf after prolonged exposure. And these things used echolocation.

[member="Jaani Doosun"]

Naast'ika put all of his energy into pulling himself free, but it was no use. He was not moving an inch forward. Instead, the vines were slowly pulling him down. Inch by inch he moved closer to the ground and inch by inch his level of panic increased. The Heavy Plasma Cannons on his port and starboard swiveled to the rear and fired wildly into the jungle, to no avail. His primary weapons were incapable of firing directly behind him.

Furious and panicked beeping filled the bridge as Naast'ika pleaded with his crew for help. "Everything will be alright, Naast'ika." Said the Captain and First Officer in unison as they attempted to calm and reassure the ship. "Weapons." The Captain said into his communicator. "Update point defense target identification protocols. Mark that species of vine as hostile and extremely dangerous."

"Done Commander." Said Petty Officer First Class Andrew Trite over the comms.

"Activate ventral AA Turret." Captain Tupu said simply. His response came via the forward holoprojector displaying images of the automated turret on Naast'ika's belly swiveling around and opening fire on the numerous vines that sought to drag Naast'ika into the jungle below. On the forward viewscreen, the same image was displayed from the point of view of the turret. Round after round of solid projectile ripped into the vines and then detonated in a mass of shrapnel as the flak round exploded. A mere 18 seconds was all it took before the last of the vines snapped under the strain of Naast'ika's desperate pull for freedom and the relentless assault of exploding bullets. The ship lurched violently as Naast'ika burst from his confinement and roared through the air above and away from the canopy of the jungle. Beeps of anger and relief and thanks filled the bridge as Naast'ika pulled further and further away.

A sharp bank to the right and a steady deceleration brought the collective scrunching of curious brows from many of those aboard the bridge. Before the Captain could ask what Naast'ika was doing, the area of jungle that had just launched an attack upon them was highlighted red on the forward holoprojection and a red button flashed upon the Captain's control console. Naast'ika was requesting permission to use the Proton Cannon.

Smiling, Captain Tupu flipped the transperisteel covering and pressed the button. A second later, and a resounding thud reverberated through the bridge as the proton cannon fired. Twin blasts of heavy plasma launched from the port and starboard turrets again and again, followed by the slightly slower repeated firing of the main cannon. An explosion of magnitude rocked the forest as the Heavy Proton Round detonated in the general vicinity of where the vines had originated from. Round after round of molten plasma tore through the trees and ignited all it touched as Naast'ika continued to fire into the jungle. A further three rounds were fired from the Heavy Proton Cannon before Captain Tupu finally pressed the button again and reverted the weapon to manual fire only. "That's enough Naast'ika. We've made them pay. Now let's finish scanning the planet."

Another metallic bulkhead loomed before him. It warped strangely as his view slid in and out of focus. Was it a bulkhead, the floor, what? The sideways ship only added to his disorientation. His balance wasn't properly responding to tell him which direction was up, and the dawned ship wasn't helping either. Jaani stumbled on, but it was all so confusing. His hands guided him along the wall, hadn't he been holding something? He continued towards the light. He knew it was close, but could barely make it out. Was that the light of the outside world, or those grenades?

Ah, the detonators. He'd been struggling before, but the concussion blast had knocked even more sense out of him. At least he had the awareness to realise what stage he was in.

The Gungan kept stumbling forwards. His view swam and he vomited in the back of his mouth. His treacherous legs stumbled once again, but he kept staggering forwards. Focus! He thought to himself. Focus!

The light swallowed him up, but once more he found his view span and his stomach lurched. There was pain all over, coming in dull thuds. It stopped.

His view slowly came back into focus, and he was presented with an image of a lush green canopy. Focus!

And then he realised. He hasn't been losing his balance. He'd been falling. He felt the alien grass beneath his fingers, more stiff and thick than any he had felt before. He saw the entry hatch he'd tumbled out of, five metres above the ground. He was still nauseous and disorientated, but at least he was aware of where he was again.

He looked about for [member="Mrrew"]

Mrrew did much the same as [member="Jaani Doosun"]. A few moments after the gungan looked up at the entry hatch, the Togorian came tumbling out. He landed more or less ina heap near the Gungan, half unconcious. See, these were the types of situations where having a Togorian's sense of hearing is not good. The world was spinning. There was light. He was outside. It felt like there was something in his skull trying to push it's way out. Blood was beginning to trickle out of his ears. They were out. Out of the ship. The grenades had done wonders. The few creatures who survived the blast where flying around aimlessly, running into walls and comedically smashing into eachother. They weren't a threat anymore. The only real threat was the jungle between where they were, and Mrrew's ship, the medbay. He had to get up... Laying here would get him killed. Something would come along, see he's injured. Mrrew tried to focus on the entry hatch above him, waiting for his vision to clear. Why was everything so quiet? He could hear a muted ringing, but not much else. The pain in his head was getting worse. He had to get up... had to get to the ship. His vision was darkening. If he lay here he'd just be prey for Tuk'atas... The Togorian passed out.

(Did not think it through, forgot Mrrew's hearing capibilities... XD)

Strange bone talisman in hand, Chloe went around to investigate some more. Further searching found a working sonic refresher. Considering the lingering spores on her suit, she took a break to cleanse as much as she could right off of it.

Time would be spent regathering her bearings and inspecting her suit for damage. So far so good -- but by the end of her breather, she would be approximate forty-five minutes until her time was up.

Break aside, she started to feel a bit better. That sonic refresher managed to do the trick too. Spore free for the next forty-five minutes. Another small beep over her wrist would alert her that the Aurora was making its way over. Perhaps she could use its sensors from overhead to see if there was anything else of interest.

Dialing in the commands, she would start making her way out of that chamber. Care would be taken to watch her step. For now, the Aurora's sensors would start scanning the outside area while she would follow the mapping droids holomap that had recorded the area earlier.

What else could she find down here?

She didn't want to cut into time. While her suit said she had forty-five minutes, she didn't want to cut it short. Thirty minute of exploring would be more than fine. Then she could get back to the ship, rinse off the dust, grab a new suit and try again if she had the time.

Careful progress was made as she went eastward, the bioluminescent slime illuminating with a brighter glow as she walked past, as if sensing her movements. The more she traveled, the more bits and pieces of fungus would become more common. But also, some really interesting crystal formations.

And if anything was an indication from earlier... it would probably be best to have her paddle gun ready....
