Factions, and their Real Life Counterparts

So looking at some of the factions, i feel I've found a good real life counterpart for most of them.

The Republic: Rome (It was a Republic)
Once large and powerful, slowly starting to crumble as barbarians, rebels and other empires nipping at their flanks. Will they be able to reform and grow powerful once more? Time will tell

The One Sith: The Hunnic Empire/Communist China
The OS to me represent Brittania at the height of it's power. An Empire sprawling out all over the world, massively powerful, with huge fleets and powerful armies. However, Brittania did begin to crumble and buckle under it's own weight....

The Mandalorians: Maratha Confenderacy/Cherokee Nations
Once under the yoke of foreign reign now independant and forging their own future. Small at present, but very very determined.

The Silver Sanctum: UN/Nato
A large spawn of generally peaceful yet military dangerous people. Possibly influenced by corporate masters. Out for what they perceive as is whats best for the galaxy

The First Order: The Third Reich
A potentially powerful player, yet in close proximity to the monstrously large One Sith, always at odds, occasionally at peace. Crushing and Oppresive, yet very very organised

Not quite sure I'd liken one of the most democratic factions to an empire.

As for the First Order, I thought their similarities with the Third Reich was glaringly obvious, though I'd say that the One Sith share sinilar expansionist ideals.

I like the comparison with the Native Americans and Mandos, very appropriate.

Perhaps another comparison for the Silver Sanctum would be NATO?

Interesting topic. Glad you thought of it.

To be fair, Rome was a Republic for almost half as long as it was an Empire. So it does work to a degree as long as Bane meant the Republic period in Rome's history.

Also we got rid of some barbaric customs, the OS is probably more like roman empire after the republic, or as we use to call it in the beginning communist russia.

I don't think you could really compare most major faction to any one culture, not without doing them a disservice.

That said, if I had to liken the One Sith to anything, I'd probably go to the Ottoman Empire. Solid and powerful on the surface, it's an empire that has been through several stagnation and reforms, and the most likely to find its end not at the hands of its enemies, but by its own people in a civil war.

lolwut?

Britain with the One Sith is a good comparison. It was the biggest empire ever to exist and it steamrolled through the world.

Mandos are more like Norsemen in my belief. Their honor to die in combat is something that, I believe, does not exist within the Huns although I might be wrong.

I dispute the Mando label! Mando territory is more like

[member="Zef Halo"] No in conquering america we used native americans, to help us beat the french and dutch.
In India we used local forces to conquer them, we did not have the manpower to do any other way.
We hired people do a lot of our fighting for us, local labour.
This was borne out in the two world wars, as we pulled troops in from every corner of the empire.

We Were no more evil than anyone else at the time. Yes we did bad things, but no worse than others did.
Truly evil empire try elsewhere.

Please don't argue about who did right and wrong here. This is merely a discussion of the closest real life country that these factions might be tied too. Zef, no atagonizing her. Sabrina, theres plenty of historical backing and proof of evil Brittania has done. While the examples you have listed are true, heres a few you neglected:

The Boer Concentration Camps
Aden's Torture Chambers
The Chniese 'Resettlement'
The Amritsar Massacre
The Cyprus Interment
Exacerbating the irish famine
The kenyan camps
The Bengal famine....

It's not meant to be judgemental, but no country is perfect.
