Factions, and their Real Life Counterparts

I absolutely agree.

But the main reason I tie brittania to the OS, is that it was the last true empire. Full of nobles and lords looking out for their own interests under the guise of serving the crown, perfect for the OS

They're two different factions, or rather terrorist cells.. ISIS is a government, a self-sustaining terrorist state
The ones you named weren't mentioned in my post. It's united warlords, but I didn't say all warlords were united

None of those are true empires.

The EU especially not, as they don't control any actual territory. The EU is a council of nations similar to the UN, but governing the affairs of the continent of Europe.

Russia is by taking territory by military force, and flexing its military muscle rightly or wrongly in Middle East.
China is by taking Tibet, and threatening its neighbors Taiwan and Japan.
USA is built on Native American lands, and does do as it wishes on world stage, though mostly for greater good.

EU is trying to become one, that is another debate.

Ehhhhhh, what's so bad as to likening Primeval who are responsible for mass genocides to that of terrorists? Primeval ran around torturing people, heck, the Gulandi's sole social purpose in life was to maim, torture and kill others.

I can't help but add that after years of research of the conflicts in the Middle East.. ISIS isn't evil incarnate or worse than Hitler. They're a**holes, what they do is innately cruel, malicious and inhumane, but, and here's the but part, but, many are brainwashed into joining them, just like many Germans were into becoming components of Nazi Germany. Not all of them are in the right state of mind, and many live in fear and choose to commit acts for their superiors rather than face the very same acts they're committing. But this is discussion for another time...

Also, I think Russia is very much an Empire, as is China. Not as a government type, but they're large and influential, just like America. The empires of modern days.

Russia, China, USA, Iran, all do have imperialistic tendencies. As aforementioned, not as a government type but as policies and goals. EU, on the other hand, is far from these tendencies at least in what they demonstrate so far.

And depends what we define as terrorism. I would say all wars are an act of terrorism as they aim to fulfill a certain goal through violence.

I might have done it a little bit earlier, but I still feel there's no real point in assigning countries to fictional states. There might be influences, sure. You can't escape players adding these in, subconsciously or not, but ultimately most of the factions here only bear a passing resemblance real countries or cultures, past or present.

Why? Because people are adding these influences. It's not organic. It's shaped to fit the 'ideal' we think these countries/cultures/whatever represent. And as you can see from this thread, no one can agree which ideal they should be applying, so it ends up just being a hellish chimaera-like thing.

But that works. That's Chaos. You don't need everything to fit into neatly tight boxes or labels.

Also, I can't really speak for China or the US, but Russia isn't all as imperial as you might think. Parts, yes. You're used to seeing the western side of the country in the media, the 'seat of power' with Putin and his quest to make himself feel relevant.

In reality most really don't care about the land grab that may or may not ensue. We've been through the USSR and all had those states. Life really didn't change much for those in the East, before or after the cold war. We honestly don't give a crap.

But I say this as someone that was born and raised so far away from Moscow that Washington DC was only 700km further away, so feel free take it as you will.
