COMMANDER BISHOP
OBJECTIVE SUPPORT GROUND FORCES
FLYING GALA FIGHTER
AXE WING

When FLEETCOM had called for heavy rain he hadn't imagined this.

Hordes upon hordes of Vong, and weird other aliens. It was turning out to be more than he imagined they could handle. Axe Squadron was good in a stand up space fight, but they weren't normally tasked to hit ground targets with precision. This would require some fancy flyin'

"Alright Axe, Standbye for Gun run. We'll make an initial pass and try to thin the herd."

"Copy all."

He pushed the yoke down, and snuffed the throttle. They were coming in parallel to the walls, at a nice clip. He'd forgotten what flying a fighter in Atmo felt like. G Forces pinned him back like hundred pound weights, threatening to crush the air out of his lungs. Down below the creatures brayed and bellowed.

"Fire!"

They let loose the first volley of cannons fire, painting the masses with red beams.

"Got solid hits, but almost no dent made in the enemy!"

"This is gonna take a while, watch for out for any bugs that can spit. We don;t know their capabilities yet."

They waved off and up, screaming vertical....

Avery watched as the Spymaster, Nexus Krae, cut through the creatures with brutal efficiency, and a grace unmatched by any Avery had seen before. The Spymaster spun with violent twists and attacks only presented by dancers of a royal house. Nexus cut his way across the battlefield then ordered his soldiers, known as the Jkri, to follow Avery’s command, alongside his men. Nexus ran off to undisclosed location, to complete a mission that Avery had no doubt was vital to the success of the Corporate. After witnessing Nexus’ own rampant quest, Avery returned to his own.

“Sir,” said one of the soldiers “what would you have us do?” Avery motioned toward the governmental district and began running to it, his soldiers and Jkri following behind. As they went deeper into the city, the fighting became more apparent to Avery and his company. They reached the business district in the middle of the city, bombshells crashed to the ground and a couple of Avery’s soldiers were obliterated in the process. “Sir!” the captain of the squad shouted at Avery, “What his your order from here?” Avery thought for a moment, if they continued group up like this than they’d all perish before the battle had even begun. He had to make a choice, lose more soldiers, or keep them safe but adding more risk to himself. Finally, he made the order.

Avery pointed to the captain’s wrist communicator, then his own. Avery then loaded a data chip with Consul Zanareth’s contact, they were far enough into the city to be able to make contact with Zanareth but they’d have to stay put as to not disrupt the connection. “Sir, you want me to contact the Consul and tell her that we’re on our way?” Avery shook his head and pointed to himself in response, “You want me to contact the Consul and tell her you are on your way?” Avery shook his head up and down, “huh, very well Sir.” the captain tapped a few buttons on his communicator and shouted into it, “ This is Captain Tacer! Leader of the fourth arrival squad! High Commander Regailis is making his way to you, Madam Consul!” then awaited a response.

Avery beckoned two Jkri to follow him. Avery raced across the war torn city, making his way to the last known location of corporate activity. A vong rushed him with a spear, Avery dodged then plunged his left blade into the back of the savage humanoid. Two more came at him, this time wielding swords. The first slashed, horizontally, at Avery but he flip over the vong, landing behind it then tearing both blades through it’s waist. It topabled to the floor. The second plunged his sword forward at Avery, he moved his body out of the way, then stabbed the vong in its forehead, blood leaking from the wound. After the little skirmish, Avery continued forward with the two Jkri, both of which were very tired at this point. Avery didn’t blame them, he was too.

They were nearing their destination, not much longer till they arrived. The Jkri followed close behind Avery, Vigilant as ever. Then suddenly the ground began to shake, a Gareth hand emerged from it, grabbing one of the Jkri and pulling him into the depths. The second Jkri, with his spear started stabbing the ground. Avery grabbed his shoulder, there was nothing they could for him now, He was left to the mercy of the world. They moved onward, getting ever closer to their goal, they’d make it, Avery hoped.

Avery stopped in his tracks, completely still. A dagger shot through the back of the second Jkri’s head, killing him instantly. Avery turned around… what stood his gaze was a man wearing a black robe with underlying armor, wielding an ancient sword, and a mask with eldritch symbols that Avery couldn’t make sense of… Avery was wrong, it wasn’t a fake cult… but they’d die all the same. Avery raised his arm blades and prepared for an attack...

"Fire" he ordered. The sounds of the guns on his ship wished passed his ears. Damn Vong. As usual they had found another obstical in the way of absolute power. "Supreme Commander, the Capitol is war-torn. I suggest you get down there as soon as possible." Suggested the Lt.Commander "Very Well, Lt.Commander. Have my forces converge on the center. And-" he said before being cut off abruptly. "Sir, there is a Youzon Vong Worldship exiting hyperspace. " reported a young officer. "What?!" He replied. Of all days, today would be the day the Vong wished they had never discovered our galaxy. Ever

Nexus didn't have to worry too much about the problems along the way. They were weak in singular numbers. What the problem would be, was up ahead. The Sith Lord came to a halt, his robes flowing as they sensed his presence, and he theirs. And now that run turned into a calm walk, a smirk growing on his face as he held Shruuk out to the side.

"And what do you think you're up to?" He asked, even now he was sending out a warning to the soldiers comms system, through one of his own soldiers, of the situation at hand here. This was going to be very dangerous. He called to have some Zhorngi come down and over, but they wouldn't be here to win the fight. They were elites yes, but these were twenty force sensitives. He'd need the Zhorngi for extraction if need be, and take advantage of the soldiers and technology at the Protectorates disposal.

They turned to look at him, but most remained silent, a few tore off, seven, while they rest attempted to continue what they were doing. Nexus didn't feel like taking on all twenty at once, he was quite powerful, but he was always immensely afraid of death. And though he certainly trusted in his own power and skill, there was no point in trying to take on all twenty at once. Even he understood the threats involved in that. Seven though, that was just fine with him.

He breathed in, raising his sword in front of his face, his eyes opening turning a sharp yellow, he focused his body, he focused the Vo within him, strengthening his power, he focused on his weapon, that which even further strengthened the body and the force.

The Seven lined up and the first and seventh both pulled him with the force as those in the middle activated their lightsabers, he stepped forwards and grounded himself bring up a fist and opening his hand, lightning flew off it into the two pulling on him, bringing them to their knees. The others leapt at him, he released the lightning and brought his sword up to catch one of their blades, his other hand lifting and sending the ground beneath them slamming into most of them, leaving him in contact with just one.

And so the dueling ensued, his style was incredibly aggressive, his sword had far more weight then their lightsabers and he used that to his advantage, using swings that batted away their lightsabers while constantly keeping momentum, aggressive attacks they were forced to dodge because if they didn't his weapon would just keep on traveling because of his strength and its inertia. And when they got to close, telekinesis to throw them away or slam them with something they couldn't handle. A smile on his face as he began to take them down. They were good yes, and all twenty of them, if they coordinated, would pose a very serious threat. But they were playing on his battleground, this was not the sky or the space, where piloting skills were relevant. They were facing a being who shapeshifter on command, distorting and strengthening his body in whatever way was deemed necessary, all the while the power and skill conquered in over sixty years of intense learning waged for him. Seven was not enough, and they soon began to fall, requiring more to come and aid them.

He didn't have to beat all twenty this way, hopefully, allies of some kind would be coming to help. Whether fighters or even if it was just his Zhorngi who made it for now, if they could get the people here, they could handle this. It was just a problem of time and numbers. Many people were dealing with the chaos that was ensuing elsewhere leaving very few to help him aside from his own soldiers.

War… War again. Pointless and without meaning, all done to gain a planet or bargaining chip. Did Tacer like war? No, of course not, who would? By the time Tacer had first held a gun up, to right now as he and his squad are led by an assassin that killed more people, despite being younger than him. Was he jealous? Who would want to be known for the bodies they piled? Still, he had to admire the brutal efficiency of the Avery. Killing without remorse and regret, moving in swift motions as he slices through the battlefield. There was a certain beauty to the carnage. Then there was Nexus Krae, almost the exact same person but with the power of the Force and an entire planet backing him.

As much as Tacer considered war pointless, this one was different. The liberation of a planet. A pure action by the Protectorate but Tacer knew by this point in his life that no such deed comes without a catch. Avery had made him aware of this catch. Complete control of the planet. But Tacer would rather have that than the complete destruction of the planet.

BOOM!

Bombshells came crashing down onto the planet’s surface like coins into a puddle. Avery had left with two of Krae’s men, known as the Jkri. Avery had made Tacer, his squad, and the rest of the Jkri, stay behind while he went to find Consul Zanareth, an order he did not agree with but nevertheless followed it. Avery also ordered him to contact Zanareth, since they were in a position where they would be able to send a message.

Thirty or twenty minutes had passed. Tacer still Shouting into the com-link. Hoping to get a voice on the other end. Tacer hoped he’d get a response soon, not just to make them aware of Avery’s position but to also ask for support. They were few and needed more soldiers, direly.

“Come on, answer.” Tacer said through gritted teeth as he looked out the window, at seemingly endless war.

They were making great time to the bunker. Across the rooftops they jumped, crawled and sprinted. Ari took cover behind an air fresher unit, and responded to the calls she'd been ignoring. There was one by Tacer. She recognized him as part of Avery's Squadron of troops.

"This is Consul Zanareth, go ahead."

She deflected a thud bug back to its source with a lazy swipe of her saber. Nearby the Praetorian guard began to strong-point the top of their roof. Heavy weapons were set to each corner. Contrails acrid and black corkscrewed into the sinkholes and hordes of Vong below. She nodded to Chris.

"I can see the bunker down below. No they probably don't have anything good there at all. Set a beacon so we can call in Orbital Drop reinforcements at this spot."

She turned to her Lt. Commander of the Praetorians.

"Hold this position, we'll wait for back up."

Then she pinged Sal.

"Commander Bishop, are you reading me?"

In the midst of the coordination the battle reached a fever pitch. Several buildings collapsed nearby, torn apart root and stem from the horde of Garath Lek that had infiltrated the city. They were loosing the civilian populace quickly.

She wondered if she had made the right call. What good was the backing of Planetary Government without the popular support of the people?

It was a question for later.

For now she stood behind her cover, clutching her light saber angled down and away, feet spread shoulder width apart.

At this point, she was ready for anything....

Avery stood, calm and composed, waiting for the cultist to make his move. The person that a seven feet away from him started twirling the blade in their hand. All this time these Dark Side users had been evading him and his soldiers, something Avery was quite impressed by. These Darksiders, or at least this one, were talented in the Dark Side, capable of masking themselves, making it almost impossible for Avery to locate them. He was indeed impressed with what they were capable of doing. All that being said, how long have they been around? Weeks, months, or years? Avery assumed the last of the options, doubting that such a group could amass as much power as they had with only a few months.

“I must say, your people are very interesting,” said the cultist, “ You almost had me and my brothers. But you pathetic commoners could never stand up to the power of the Dark Side.” The cultist studied Avery for a while, and Avery him. He charged Avery with his sword moving calm, elegant, movement that resembled the form of Makashi. Avery flipped over the cultist, slashing his back in the process. The cultist cursed himself, then looked at Avery with surprised hidden under his mask, “ You aren’t just a commoner, no. Your a sith, one with not much training but a sith nonetheless.” The cultist shifted himself, he was now cautious, “ Are all of your people sith? Have you come here to recruit my order?” The cultist said with flattery, hiding behind his calm voice. So this was the leader, their prophet, saint, or sith emperor, whatever they called him. The cultist leader, now growing impatient said, “Well!? Answer me! Have you come to recruit us!?” Slowly realization settled into the leader’s mind.

“ Your not here to recruit us. Your going to slaughter us. If that’s the case, I welcome you to try.” The cultist leader charged Avery again, now with more a deadly focus. Avery leaped out of the way but he moved to slow. The sword cut into Avery’s left arm, scraping metal and flesh as it went. Avery jumped back and examined the wound. It wasn’t anything too serious, he’d manage.

Avery turned his gaze back to the cultist, who was lunging towards him again. This time though, Avery was prepared. He strafed to the right of the cultist, bringing his left blade down into the side of the cultist. The cultist winched and parried Avery next attack coming from his right blade. They then proceeded in show fantastic swordsmanship, each blocking and exchanging blows, tearing their environment apart as they did.

The cultist brought his sword up in a vertical slash, knocking Avery off balance. The cultist plunged his sword deep into Avery chest, relishing the victory. “Pathetic waste.” He said through clenched teeth. Suddenly, Avery grabbed the man by the arms, bringing the sword and cultist closer to Avery. With an emotionless stare and a voice barely audible, Avery whispered the last words the leader of the cultists would hear… “Pathetic… Waste…” Avery then raised his blades and brought them down onto the cultist’s arms, serving them. The cultist collapsed, screaming in pain, dragging himself away as fast as he could. Avery tore the blade from his chest, admiring the craftsmanship. Avery twirled it in his hand a couple times then clipped it to his belt.

Avery continued onward to find Consul Zanareth. He had arrived, seeing Consul Zanareth. He started to approach the woman, hoping that Tacer had made contact and informed her that he’d be coming.

Chris grabbed the beacon and powered it up, placing it a dozen meters from the bunker entrance and pinging the ready signal. He watched as drop pods appeared as orange teardrops falling from the skies, the might of the Protectorate in full force.

Chris walked back to Ari, reloading his pistol.

"Well, here goes nothing"

Chris started towwards the entrance.

I hope there's someone still alive down there.

Fireson had arrived on the planet. He was the padawan of [member="Nexus Krae"] . He did not know about the battle, until now. Fireson had decided to help them out. He went to the comms and switched it on.

"Is anyone there?" asked Fireson. "I am Fireson V'Trechen, the apprentice of Nexus Krae. Can anyone reach me? Hello? Avery? Nexus? Anyone read me?"

[member="Nexus Krae"] [member="Avery Regailis"] [member="Chris Walker"]

Post five.

The war continued, the others were still busy doing whatever they were doing. Finally the last of the seven fell to the ground, his head rolling away as Nexus stood over their corpses. He'd gotten a few cuts and burns, but they were superficial, he could get those healed on his ship in seconds once he got one of their medical devices.

Ten Zhorngi arrived in a transport, leaping form the ship. They had rather animalistic appearances, landing near Nexus. They were huge, designing their bodies for war. Stronger muscles, nervous systems, and even skin, then most species. They were fast, strong, and they could change that shape at will to fit the situation. Armed with alchemized weapons and trained even beyond normal for their species.

A smile grew on Nexus's face. On on one, a Zhorngi might be able to stand up to a Jedi or Sith knight. Now it would be a rough battle surely, but it would be winnable. The attention of the other Dark Siders turned to Nexus and his troop that had arrived. They were target killers, designed to take down dangerous enemies in the midst of battle. They would prove to be useful in this battle. Yes, some might die, but they might take some of this cult with them as well.

He heard a voice over the comms, it came from [member="Fireson V'Trechen"] well. His apprentice was finally here. "This is Nexus Krae, come here. I'm at the water supply. If you don't know where it is just ask. Expect to fight force users." he ordered. He didn't actually know if Fireson was skilled enough to survive it, but he better be or he might die. But the more people he got over here, the easier this fight would be.

Now that she had Avery and Chris at her side, they were ready to breach the bunker. What they would find inside was anyone's guess. The upper levels appeared to be a blockhouse fortress of some sort. She guessed they had tried to put up a defense before falling back, or being pressed back.

The orbital rockets fired, smashing the grounds before them. Ari ducked, pulling her comrades down behind cover. Most of the over-pressure from the blast was diverted from rubble and whatnot, but she was still left with a stinging headache.

"That was way too close."

"Lets move on."

In the reprieve, she attached an cable to the building and rappelled down. Picking her way through the scorched bodies and craters she reached the doors...

Meanwhile in Tacer squad…

With orbital bombardments nowhere near done and the squad’s morale depleting quicker than ever, Tacer was overjoyed to hear the Consul’s voice crackly from the wrist communicator. Finally his men would be saved and they would be able to escape from this hellhole.

“Consul Zanareth, we are in dire need of reinforcements. Our people are dying quicker every second I speak.” a bomb crashed into the ground, knocking everyone that was close to the window, including Tacer, to the floor. Fireson was trying to land his ship, but then a laser canon cliped one of his wings. He was mad, but was able to land into safety. Fireson got out his STP-950 and ran torwards his master who looked surrounded by goons.

"Sir!" said Fireson. "What's the plan? What's my job? Give me the word and I will die for you, Hoss. You know it. It is time for them to bite the dust. And then another one will come, and they will all bite my dust."

Sadly Ari did not get Tacers message. She was busy examining the heavy, heavy doors of the bunker. There was not much to go on. she guessed magnetic locking mechanism. Problem was that the power was dead.

She went with the next option and plunged her lightsaber into the steel. It melted and dribbled, but only just. Whatever it was and whoever had built it, they had built it well. She could leave the saber in slowly melting the door or she could find another route.

Her mind drifted back to the rocket launchers the Praetorian Guard were carrying.

"Chris, Avery, grab those launchers. We'll have to blow through the doors."

It would take several hits.

She continued melting the steel, weakening the thing for he final crack....

Tacer did get the memo. The boys on the ground were hurting bad and so far they were waiting on that orbital drop.

As the Wing came around for another pass, they picked off what was left of the bugs between the rooftop position and the Bunker. Laser cannons blazed, punching through bug armor and splattering their guts.

Bishop grinned and pulled up again fro another pass.

"Captain Tacer this is commander Bishop, Axe wing. We got your back for now. Link up with the Praetorian Squad on the roof and call in the targets. We got you with close Air support."

Tacer and his squad were overjoyed. Although Consul Zanareth didn’t get the message someone had... Commander bishop. There was no limit to the happiness of the squad as they rushed out of the building, then around it, pressing themselves against the wall. Tacer poked his head out from behind the war-torn building, firing at the vong that were some ways a way. He picked off a good few, ordering the men that had survived to make there way up the side of the building. They nodded to Captain Tacer, shooting their grappling hooks up the building. They all making their way up the side of the building. Tacer, still firing at the vong in the distance, turned to the wall. He grabbed the rope, pulling himself up, until he reached the edge of the roof. A Praetorian guard reached out with his hand, Tacer accepted.

His squad greeted him with open arms. Tacer looked to the sky then tapped a few buttons on his communicator, “Bishop, i’m i glad to see you.”

Tacer turned his head to his squad and the Praetorians, “Quick! Get whatever could work as a barricade and make cover out of it!”

Avery had made his way to Ari, and right on time for something big. He followed her, alongside Chris, making there way to what location Ari found of interest.

Avery listened to the Consul’s words, her saber deep into the metal of the door. Avery could imagine why she wanted him and Chris to take the launchers… well, kinda. Still, Avery would carry the order out to the best of his ability. Avery gestured at the guard, Give that thing. The guard, not wanting to know why Avery was covered in blood, handed the weapon to Avery.

Avery made his way back to Ari, standing eight feet away from her. Fireson was just standing out there, trying to find something to do. He decided to get on the comms and ask everyone. Someone must, at least, have a job for him.

Chris nodded in response and yelled to the Praetorians " Praetorians, get the launchers over here. They may not be made for breaching but the counsel seems to think otherwise. "

The praetorians set up the launchers and Chris warned Avery to get out of the way, and he sent a confirmation signal to the soldiers. The launchers made a thunderous sound, back-blast kicking up dust and sending lines of fire screaming into the entrance. It seemed the counsel's idea had worked. The entrance now had a hole wide enough for two to walk through side by side, the edges glowing from lightsabre cuts and high explosives. The entrance seemed to draw Chis in. " Load your slugthrowers and arm your blasters, it's high time to get in there."

Ari followed Chris in, crimson saber casting a soft glow upon the walls, like that of candle.

The complex opened up into a massive chamber, complete with doors aranged in a semi circle. She picked the first one and examined it. The hinges were rusted out, and in a state of disrepair. A quick slash with her blade did what time could not. Rivulet of molten white hot steel dropped to the floor.

She launched a spinning force enhanced kick, and sent the heavy door toppling to the ground with a clang.

Withing the smell was foul. Much like rotten meat being thrown out into the sands of Tatooine.

"Chris second door. Leaderships dead."

That left them in a conundrum. Someone of something had managed to infiltrate the bunker, or perhaps the water had actually been poisoned. Either way they needed a better position to fortify than a rooftop. The Complex had several levels and an armory. They could cover the other retreat from murder-holes in the top.

"Collect up some weapons, meet me on the second level."

She scooped up a rifle, slung it and moved up the stairs.

Below the battle had begun to still. Gareth Lek and Vong forces had been decimated by the rocket barrage.

Static crackled from her wrist pad.

"Consul Zanareth, Ground Commanders, this is CPS Ardent Dawn, do you read?"

She brought her wrist up and spoke, leaning against a nearby wall, surveying down below.

"This is Consul Zanareth, go ahead."

"Consul, this is Commander Riker, we have the Legion locked and loaded."

"Roger. I'm activating my beacon now, send them down."

Within moments the sky was wreathed in flame as what appeared to be a meteor shower plunged down around the Bunker. Obsidian steel pods smashed into the surface, sending shock-waves rippling that carried waves of dust and grit. From their bowels rolled Armadillo Tanks, with Legionaries clinging to the sides. Hundreds of Soldiers began to disgorge and join in creating a semi circle perimeter around the bunker.

Ari let small sigh escape her.

There was much to be done in rebuilding, but at least they knew some of the truth of what had occurred.

"We have the bunker, fall back into the perimeter."

Now began the task of investigation. Clearing the rest of the World would have to wait until a later day.

"CPS Ardent Dawn, send a shuttle down to receive Scientific Samples and retrieve me. I have business to attend to elsewhere."
