Family. It's Only Relative.

Kay sat quietly at a corner table in the mess hall of one of James Justice's stations. Everyone else had pretty much come and gone which was how she wanted it. At least for now. She sipped her tea and only nibbled on the plate of food in front of her. There wasn't much of an appetite to be had. No. She was too upset.

Days before she had to resign from her seat in the Senate, leaving Commenor unrepresented for the time being. That was okay though. She was sure that someone would be found soon.

What mattered though was that she was homeless and unemployed. All of her belongings fit into two bags. Her credits were sent off as promised to cover funeral and other expenses to the Mandalorians, leaving her with next to nothing. She had been offered a place of refuge in Mustafar. It wasn't exactly an ideal world for her, but beggars couldn't be choosers. Kay figured that if she sold some of her things, she'd be able to afford passage. Either that or she'd borrow the money from James.

She hated asking for help, at least when it was in regards to herself. Others could use it far more than she could. Kay sipped her tea and sighed inwardly. One of these days she was going to get back on her feet again.

As Brooklyn was walking about the station owned by her father she had only just recently heard about her aunt that she had never met. She was interested in helping anyone especially someone in such dire circumstances. As Brook entered the cafe she noticed a woman she had never met before so she walked over

"Hello I'm Brooklyn and you seem distressed is there anything I can do?"

Kay was just so lost in her own little world that she didn't even notice [member="Brooklyn Justice"] approach. It caused her to jump in her seat a bit, nearly spilling her precious tea. "Hello Brooklyn. I'm Kay. Your last name wouldn't be Justice, now would it?" A diversion tactic at best. Change the focus of the conversation away from herself. It was the easiest way to avoid talking about herself.

"I've heard a bit about you from your father. He sort of adopted me into the family as his sister. So I suppose that makes me your aunt Kay." Was she okay? No. But she wasn't about to admit it either. She sipped her tea and then looked to her plate of food. It was a mixture of meat and veggies of some sort. "Are you hungry?"

She clenched her jaw a bit. Boy [member="Brooklyn Justice"] was stubborn. And here Kay figured that she was stubborn. The girl would probably make for a great interrogator some day. Or a psychologist.

"I'm just....a little lost, that's all. It's nothing really...I'll snap out of it soon." Once she got everything sorted out that is. Some find the unknown to be fascinating and exciting. Kay meanwhile found it almost frightening. She had gone through this once before, when her husband had died almost ten years ago. That transition process took her a few years to get over.

Kay just blinked for a moment. Of course who was she to judge? Maybe [member="Brooklyn Justice"] needed a hug as well? She put down her tea and stood from the table, wrapping her arms around her in a hug. It wasn't a tight hug, but it wasn't too soft either.

One may think it would feel weird being a foot shorter than the person your hugging and it was for the longest time it was but Brook had gotten used to it. This was also a trying time for her as well with her mom just being shot and her watching it

She rested her cheek on her head and closed her eyes. She clenched her jaw again as she held everything in. This was not the time nor the place to just let everything go. Especially in public. "Are you sure that you're okay?"

"Do you want to go somewhere private to chat? Or is here an okay place for you?" Oh good! Time to be the older person here and look after the young one. That's the way it should be.

Kay looked around the mess hall. Yeah, it was mostly empty outside of some droids collecting dishes. "You're right. Did you want any tea? I have some ready, and it might help." Tea was the cure for almost everything in her mind.

Kay collected a napkin from the table and handed it to her, before hugging [member="Brooklyn Justice"] again and rubbing her back. "What's the matter?...If you don't want James to know, I won't tell him. I promise."

What a horrible thing to bear witness too. Kay was there when her husband was impaled in front of her. Thank goodness their adopted children weren't there to see it. "I'm so sorry...I bet that you have nightmares about it too..."
