Galactic Republic Senate Roster

Jedi/ex-Jedi/rehabilitated Jedi/what have you are not allowed to have a political presence in the Republic. It is both restricted by the government and against the rules laid out by the Jedi Order.

That...

*facepalm*

[member="Selena Halcyon"] I miss you.

Edit: One would think that, given the history of the Galactic Republic both Canon and Chaos, such an edict wouldn't exist. For one, the office of Supreme Chancellor was originally filled by Jedi. Two, the most productive era of this faction was under the leadership of a Jedi Master Supreme Chancellor.

However, if that's the direction you want to go, I'll dust off my NFU Senator and apply for Ruusan again. Brb.

I agree with this sentiment. Let the non force users shine somewhere.

In canon it actually became law that a force sensitive couldn't be in politics. This was sometime after the Ruusan Reformation. I'll search for sources and hit you up on PMs.

I'd interpret that differently. But the Code is very specific:

Conquer External Loyalties

"A Jedi is a Jedi, first and foremost, and only. For a Jedi to divide his attention between the will of the Force and the will of others is to invite disaster."

Jedi were forbidden from taking a political appointment. They were taught that their loyalty was to be to the Jedi Order, and to nothing else.

So if Corvus wanted to be a Senator, she would have to renounce her title and leave the Order. Which is absolutely fine. Not that she would of course :)

If it is Canon and a law that a force sensitive cannot be a Senator, then our Senate roster is in need of updating. Hell, we have a Prime Minister who is force sensitive and the Grandmaster herself is aware.

[member="Corvus Raaf"]

As I stated above, I'll be dusting off an old Senate character. I would much rather fit into the new mold this generation of leadership has cast rather than push the issue.

Just to clarify - the GM has zero interest in politics and unless the PM were a Sith, she would have no interest in the matter. But she would not allow the PM to join the Order given the Jedi Code.

And the Code isn't part of any new generation of leadership, it has been around for quite literally thousands of years. But making an NFU Senator sounds a perfect solution.

I'll have you know that I was very constructively bringing worlds into the fold before you were born. And I fully intend to serve in an active, frontline capacity upon being confirmed as a Senator.

I may not be able to shoot any longer, but I won't be one of those old men who sit idly by while young men die for my ideals.

Hey, hey, hey. I make arms and armor thank you. One day my corporation will be among the largest in the galaxy and a primary supplier to The Republic in many more services by then. So I do more than sit in a chair and debate all day. Thank-you.

You just better not be a pacifist Senator. We don't need those in these dire times. Sith are knocking at the gates and we need strong leaders who can make the hard choices.

Realize the reality of which we live in.

And you should know that the history of the old Republics were a mire of corruption, war, treason, genocide, and a lot of other nasty things. Much of it wasn't the Sith's doing either. They weren't some utopian society and neither is this Republic.

The Sith are going to start coming down on us hard. If you're not going to help fight them and protect the Republic. Then you better not stand in the way of those of us that will.

- Rants more and totally not the real person behind the character trying to be a jerk to you. He thought you should know.

When the Darkness lifted, civilization returned to the Core. The founders of this Republic, Teferi, Dex, and Aurelia, stood together to resume democracy and peace after centuries of plague. I stood beside them and watched that momentous day. I stood beside them and watched as the glory of the moment was soiled by an attack by Sith Lords.

I, a soldier of the Republic, fought against them that day and continued to do so until my body was no longer fit for service. When I say that I am no complacent Senator, I speak from experience. I speak from knowing the pain of loss. I speak from years spent fighting the same enemy that has plagued the Galaxy for eons. I am fully aware of who we fight and our current situation.

Do not make assumptions or bold declarations when you are ignorant of to whom you speak.
