Galactic Republic Senate Roster

I'm afraid Bakura is not within Republic territory, so I cannot give you a Senate seat for that planet. There are still other worlds within our influence, however. And you may even apply to represent a planet whose senator has been inactive, if you would like.

I would be happy to. Do you have any suggestions as to which planets are available and I can do a it of research on them?

If you are interested in partnering with the Jedi, you might be interested in serving as Senator of Ossus, where the Jedi Temple is currently located.

It would be nice to have an active senator from such a central planet as Commenor. I can ask the current holder of the position if they want to keep it. (I'm fairly certain they won't mind giving it to someone else.)

My lack of muse for this character, as well as general other ideas of what I would like to do with this character have made me want to resign from being the Senator of Lunar Meadow.

Would you please remove me from the list?

I will participate in the last few Senate threads I am in and which matter to my character and its future, but I will be gone very soon.

EDIT: OK, actually I will most likely leave rightaway.

Unless it was repealed, i thought force users cannot be senators... i dont have anything against it mind you but im curious if that rule changed IC.

I had thought so too, but I thought that rule was for those that had experience in the Jedi Order, to which I have not.

I sense the crashing together of a number of different rules and such - and they've got muddled up in the process of translation. So...

1. "A Jedi is a Jedi, first and foremost, and only. For a Jedi to divide his attention between the will of the Force and the will of others is to invite disaster."

Jedi were forbidden from taking a political appointment. They were taught that their loyalty was to be to the Jedi Order, and to nothing else.

This refers in this instance only to members of the GR Jedi Order. So would not include - for example - rogue Jedi who are members of the GR.

2. The Force Sensitives Act is most likely what people are talking about. It is very woolly in its wording but states:

"Force Sensitives who are active FUs and/or have a high midi-chlorian count are unable to take office. Mandatory and regular blood-tests apply.

So...IC that (broadly means) someone who uses the Force on a regular basis is active (open to interpretation of course). And if you're a Knight or above, the blood test WOULD show up the midi-chlorian count and you WOULD be excluded for that reason. Unless you fake the blood-test of course.

So...nothing to stop any FU taking office if they want to cheat the rules for an IC reason. OOC we know there are Sith Lords in the Senate but nobody has ever been bothered enough to expose them. But IC the character runs the risk of being found out at any time.

Force Sensitives Act
Could I have a link to this act?

As far as I know there have been many force users in the Politics of the Republic. Aledis was a former Jedi Master who stepped down and became Supreme Chancellor, The Bard was previously a Senator of Eshan, Senator Vaudin Miir was a Knight, and a few others I cannot remember the name of. All of them open force users.

I think what Corvus is saying is the you CAN in fact be a Senator, however, your character would need to conceal their ability to use the force.

However, in my RL legal opinion (I'm a lawyer duh,) you character could be put on trial for treason and depending on how jumpy everyone still is over Palpatine... even sedition.

Which, by the way, makes for like... the best story line ever so I say go for it! Cause if you got caught, Cecily would probably rally for your pardon. :)

This pre-dates me - but I was given the link the last time it was mentioned and I'll share it as soon as I find it in the Archives :)

From memory it was definitely 2014 though.

Looking for the act now but i remember it fully and it was one put forward during the time when mouse had control of the republic. Ill PM you the link if i can find it. Try the Archives if you get a chance to look too.

It was, id say around June or may. Just got to find it.

Or, you could just push for the act to be repealed now :Di
