[Corvus Raaf]

There are two main pieces of news this week. The first is the current Invasion of Ord Mirit is ongoing and if you haven’t joined in, it’s never too late. Our sign-up thread is here and the main event, if you want to follow it is here.

People invariably ask how we’re doing and the answer is always the same – it’s way too early to tell. Given two of the Objectives are a little subjective, we plan to get you the result as soon as we can but I’ll start now by suggesting you’re patient.

The second news is that the recent poll to choose a new Faction leader has ended and we have a clear winner – who polled more than all of the other candidates added together. And the winner is…

She’s been made an Admin of the GR site already, will name her FA team in due course and will spend the next few weeks learning the ropes and once the Invasion is concluded we’ll do an official handover.

So congratulations Taeli…I know you’ll do a great job.

I'm a little concerned that the voting process was not anonymous (or at least hidden from normal users). If I could see who votes for what, that's going to influence my choices. If there were technical limitations, then perhaps the forum platform shouldn't be used for these votes in the future.

I haven't been here in the past. I'm here now. And I'm suggesting it's a change that would improve the integrity of the voting process. I'll be frank, when all the current FAs vote for a single candidate in a public election, it's not hard to see why that candidates wins.

That can happen with any person, too. If someone saw my Aimone account voting for Selena (which I did, you can see that in the results, it's no secret), they might decide to vote for Selena because I did. Or vote for someone else because of that, too, perhaps because they felt like any choice of mine was a poor choice.

When there are this few people voting, little things can sway votes like this.

This vote is done now, I'm not suggesting we re-do it. I'm suggesting a future vote should be anonymous.

I think people are quite capable of making up their own minds with regards to who they would like to vote for. I also think people are capable of making up their own criteria on why they vote for a particular candidate. If someone wanted to vote for Selena based on the fact that you did then that is okay. People are allowed to vote based on whatever criteria they'd like.

Do I think that seeing who voted for who dictated votes? No I do not. Is it something that we might want to change? Perhaps. It'll be up to the new FL and FAs to discuss.
