Getting started

It had not taken too long for Dagos to get in sync with his new master. They were both grasping at the same strand of the force, tethered together mentally and spiritually. After a few moments of them getting used to one anothers presence in the force Dagos could feel a small tug at the back of his mind slike some trying to get his attention, then he heard it. Well not heard it with his ears but felt it through the force his Master "speaking" to him.

Are you able to hear me, Dagos?

Whoa, yeah I can.

He answered back telepathically a bit surprised at how easy it was.

Each person felt and saw the Force differently from another, so if there was any vision involved with Dagos' version, then he would see Jairdain's smile. If it he picked up more emotions, then he would tell she was happy with this exercise and its success.

Jairdain was an empath and picked up on the emotions of others and that gave things color of a sort. If somebody asked her though, she couldn't say what the colors were.

This is telepathy and one of my strongest abilities. It allows for silent communication when needed and can be used to call for help. However, the greater the distance, the harder it is to be a success. It is one of the easiest skills, in my opinion and one of the most important to know.

Dagos could feel Jairdain's happiness and it in turn swelled his own joy and his pride. He was glad to not only have picked up the skill as quickly as he had but he was over the moon to have brought a smile to his new master's face.

This is great! He said to her telepathically as he thought of the many ways this new power could aid him in helping those in need.

Jairdain felt his pride and joy grow at his success and they shared in that.

Ok the next couple things I want to share aren't actually Force related, but they do require meditation or strong concentration. This will be done in two parts.
Listen to the beat of your heart and feel it as your blood is moved around through the body.

She would wait to continue until Dagos accomplished this.

He did as instructed. Closing out the world around him. He tightened his focus until he could no longer hear the sounds of the birds singing, insects buzzing or even the wind whispering as it moved the leaves and tickled the grass. His focus was so tight he even lost the sound of Hairdain next to him and all he could hear now was the beating of his heart. It was as soothing as steady thunder off in the distance. He could feel his blood just as she had told him to. It raced through him, never stopping.

Now what? He asked telepathically.

Jairdain followed the request she had made on Dagos telepathically and concentrated on her heart. This was easy for her through years of practice and she expected it to take a little longer for her padawan to find his pulse. Giving him all the time he needed, she peacefully sat next to him.

When he spoke to her through the Force she was ready.

What I want you to do might be tricky at first and you have to be careful. This is a skill that can also save your life, but only in an emergency. Concentrate on your heartbeat and focus on slowing it down. The purpose for this is if you're ever trapped with a limited air supply, by slowing down your heart rate, you'll breath less and live longer.

Dagos continued his concentration exercise as instructed. His heart rate now was at 40 beats per minute, his goal was to get that as low as he could. His breathing shallowed and he could feel his heart rate begin to lower.

40...

30...

20...

15...

10...

Dagos eyes flew open as he took a large gasp of air unable to fend off his body's desire to live.

"So..sor...sorry." He choked out to Jairdain. "Let...me ...Let me try that again."

Dagos second try went much better. It took only a couple minutes but Dagos was able to finally lower his heart rate all the way down to 10 beats.

Jairdain allowed her heart to slow as she concentrated on the exercise and Dagos was doing well. It took him a bit of time, but eventually he slowed his heart. He got it down to a point where his physical body rebelled and required him to breath more to stay alive. It jolted him out of the meditation and Jairdain took it in stride.

He apologized and said he would try again. His second attempt went smoother and she would give him a nod through the Force. One that would tell him he had succeeded and show her happiness at this.

The next part is much easier than what we just did. Allow your heart to resume its natural speed naturally.

When he accomplished this, she would continue on into the next phase.

Now speed your heart up and like performing a physical exercise your body will display certain effects. You'll get warm and be breathing faster. It is all normal. Just be aware of your own limits and don't push too hard.

Dagos' breathing returned to normal and he spent a few moments enjoying the rather expected comfort that was breathing normally. Alas all good things come to an end. Dagos did as instructed and raised his heart rate.

He was taking big deep breaths but they were controlled even as he began to sweat and his heart beat so fast he was convinced it would explode.

now what? he asked telepathically.

[member="Jairdain"]

Together they sat and performed the exercise. Their breathing and heart beats rose in almost unison. Jairdain did not want to keep this up for too long and when he asked mentally what to do, she did not hesitate to answer.

Allow your heart to slow down or put into practice what you just learned and slow it down on your own. I leave that up to you.

Bringing herself out of the meditation, she waited on Dagos to do so as well. When he did, she would know and be able to finish this day's worth of lessons.

There was much more she could teach him, but felt doing too much all at once wouldn't be the best course of action and after the exercise of speeding up the heart, he might actually feel tired.

Dagos calmed himself and broke from the meditative state. With a tired but relieved smile on his face his turned to Jairdain.

"That was great!" He told her. Dagos was beyond excited to be formally training once again.

[member="Jairdain"]

When Dagos came out of the meditation, Jairdain returned his smile, happy to have passed on at least a little more knowledge to him. The excitement in his voice was almost music to her ears and it made the knight pleased.

"You're a quick learner, Dagos."

After speaking, Jairdain stood up, picking the sleeping kitten up and held her in her arms.

"The day has actually slipped past us and it's getting on to dinner time. Are you ready to go back?"

If he said no, that would be fine, but her training for the day was done. They could walk, chat and explore more of the temple grounds though.
