COMPOSITION INFORMATION
  • Fleet Size: [ Choose from Small, Medium, Large, Huge. This is a rough idea, not a hard number. Keep in mind that this is relative to the Fleet's affiliation. A Large fleet for a minor faction would be smaller than a Large fleet for a Major faction for instance. A Pirate fleet's Small would be larger than a civilian merchant fleet Small. This field is not meant to be used to decide which army, head to head, wins a battle. That can only be decided in RP. ]
  • Lead Ship: [ The name and model, with canon or Factory link, of the command ship. For maximum lead ship meterage, refer to Table 1: What Can Be Fielded. ]
  • Composition: [ A sample of the ships in this fleet. This is an example of what may be seen, not a hard meterage number. Include in a list format the names and models, with canon or Factory links. Only include ships that the fleet affiliation and Factory meterage limits allow, and keep your Size category in mind while creating your list. If desired, list different configurations / versions / subdivisions of your fleet. ]

[ List any PCs or NPCs who play a role in your fleet, as well as their ranks or functions. Designate the leader of your fleet. Link any relevant characters or NPC subs. If desired, you may include a blurb including name, rank and a brief explanation of this character if there is no bio or sub to link - alternatively link to a blog post with this information if you would like to keep an active player roster. You may also request sub mods to add/remove members. ]

POINTS OF INTEREST
[ What areas within the station are significant? Give a description of each point listed. ]

SECURITY: Medium
The Gilad Pallaeon Academy didn't have hangars built to house fighters of its own, however three Golan Fighter Platforms follow the station as it drifts. Only one of the stations held a full compliment of CorSec pilots from the CorSec Smuggling and Interdiction Division. The other two were used mainly for educational purposes but held about half the normal compliment in battle ready starfighters. Both for defense and practical training, the school employed two Pallaeon-class Star Destroyers and for its own protection it utilized a single light cruiser along with a pair of Corellian gunships operated by Smuggling and Interdiction.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Originally established some time between 600 and 700 ABY, the Gilad Pallaeon Officer's Academy, or GPA, was constructed by the CorSec with funding from several large companies including Corellian Engineering Corporation and Tendrando Arms. Built as a premier naval officer's academy it was named after a prominent historical figure from Corellia's past. The founder of the Imperial Remnant lost to the annals of time, Gilad Pallaeon despite his mysterious history left his mark on the Galaxy with several vessels named in his honor and a multitude of schools. During this time Corellia was searching for heroes and figures again in their history as rumblings for independence began in the Republic. The academy was the first step in that direction, granting them an elite and state of the art school to train their loyal Defense Force officers.

Many of these officers however went on to serve the Republic, quickly growing its fame, but siphoning all of Corellia's talent to the Republic. Eventually the board of directors caved to intergalactic pressures and began admitting students from across the Galaxy, becoming a premier military academy for the Republic. Its halls would become a great source of learning, research, tactical development, and military history, despite the Gulag Plague ravaging its students' homes. The plague ravaged its students and families however, and they were soon forced to close where the station would drift for over a century. Its lack of occupants and its droids meant that when the station was re-discovered over one hundred years later that the station was still in very good shape. After the plague ended the Academy was restarted, this time under the full authority of the Republic Navy. It was still staffed heavily by Corellians though and would pump out some of the best Corellian Admirals in recent memory.

After the Republic fell, GPA once again fell under Corellian Jurisdiction. The small fleet of dated warships kept there as training vessels for up and coming officers played a pivotal role in the liberation of Corellia. The founding of the Corellian Confederation saw the Gilad Pallaeon Officer's Academy churn out several classes of fine Corellian Officers. Over the decades it has been continually updated with the latest technologies, state of the art simulators, more up to date vessels, and expert teachers. Unlike its founders however, the Academy did accept transfer students, most notably those from the Humbarine System and their defense force.

  • Troop Deployment: Its detachable front pod allowed for quick deployment of troops, supplies, or medical treatment to the battlefront.
  • Medical Overflow: With two extensive medical bays it was easily able to pull double duty as a medical ship.
  • Armament: For its size, the Correl-class had a very high armament and could fight off several vessels if supported by fighters or corvettes.
Weaknesses:
  • Exposed Forward Bridge: Both its primary and secondary bridges were high exposed, with the main bridge tower looming high over the vessel and the secondary bridge being front and center of the vessel's prow.
  • No Fighter Compliment: Without its own fighters it was extremely vulnerable to heavy fighter assaults
  • Weak Armor: With relatively low powered shields and its low maneuverability it wasn't able to fight off multiple enemies at once well.
Description: Using their experience on both the Galleon and the Strident-Class star destroyers constructed jointly with Starbound Industries, Corellian Engineering Coorporation developed the Correl-Class destroyer. Constructed in an era of chaos in the Core Worlds, it was designed to compete directly with Kuat Drive Yard's Donnager-Class Star Destroyers.

Its long and narrow frame was classic Corellian design, taking inspiration from the centuries old Consular-Class cruisers of the Clone Wars. Its three powerful Corellian Engines were more than enough to outpace many capital ships in its class, though it lacked maneuverability. This was rarely an issue however as its impressive thrust to mass ratio coupled with its wide assortment of turbolasers and ion cannons meant most enemy vessels were disabled or destroyed with its powerful broadside attacks before they could force the Correl-Class into unfavorable positions.

Most of the vessels weapons were housed towards the center of the ship's space frame with the small service hangar, crew quarters, barracks, and command deck were all located at the front of the ship. Similarly to the Consular-class of the Clone Wars, the Correl-Class Destroyer utilized a large detachable pod beneath the bridge. While on the Consular-class of old this pod held amenities and a luxury escape pod for dozens of diplomats, the pod on the Correl-Class is geared for war. It was instead designed to be a large deployment and retrieval pod which could hold armor, supplies, and troops for invading or resupplying behind enemy lines. It also held a second extensive medical bay which made these vessels useful as combat medical ships. It was also able to make planetfall, further expanding its mission profile.

Its lack of fighter support however meant that it often needed to be supported by a pocket carrier or corvette to be used efficiently in heavy combat. Its relatively weak shields also meant that if a captain did not defeat his enemies in the opening minutes of an engagement without support, it was likely the vessel would be utterly outclassed if outnumbered.

While it lacked the sensor capabilities of the Donnager-Class Star Destroyer it made up for it in outright damage potential and was cheaper in cost for fledgling governments. It was also high modular allowing for easy customization through the addition of other CEC modules or custom designs. With its customization, invasion pod, extensive medical bays, and powerful weapons compliment, the Correl-class quickly began competing with the Bothan Assault Cruiser in the Corellian navy with many admirals and Councilors preferring the Corellian designed ship for their personal fleets.
