Valery stood silently in the dimly lit Jedi meeting room, her eyes fixed on the holo-table displaying a vast map of the Galaxy. Small dots of light flickered across the map, representing systems and planets — each one a potential destination for the mission ahead. The soft hum of the holo-projector filled the air as Valery's fiery gaze shifted between regions, her mind already mapping out her next journey.

A journey she wouldn't go on alone.

She was awaiting the arrival of Padawan Tuli, a newer student at the Temple, who would soon join her in this briefing. Valery had been thinking carefully about the best way to give the young Padawan her first taste of field experience, a crucial step in shaping her future as a Jedi. Bringing her along on a mission alongside a Jedi with a lot of experience seemed like the best way to achieve this.

This mission would hopefully be an opportunity to learn and ask questions, but it was also a chance for Valery to get to know the young Padawan better. To be a good leader, she always tried her best to understand the Jedi who would be looking up to her for guidance.

This was a first step.

Tuli Tuli

The Grandmaster had summoned her.

The Grandmaster. The Sword of the Jedi. Valery Noble Valery Noble . Tuli bounced from one foot to the other, a trill of excitement escaping her. She'd been waiting for this moment, waiting to get the opportunity to spend time with her, to learn from her. She checked herself over one more time in the mirror, making sure her robes were straight, that her lightsaber was hanging just right before taking a deep breath.

Emotion, yet peace.

She exhaled slowly, letting her excitement wash over her and settle.

It wouldn't last for long as she left her dorm, practically skipping to the briefing room. She'd only seen the grandmaster from a distance, or in a holo image but she was every bit as awe inspiring in person as she was from a distance.

She gave a deep bow. "Padawan Tuli at your service Grandmaster."

When she straightened her ears were quivering with excitement.

Valery's fiery gaze softened slightly when the door slid open, revealing the small, eager figure of Padawan Tuli. The young student, with her wide, expressive eyes and quivering ears, radiated a contagious energy that instantly drew Valery's attention. She couldn't help but smile at the sight — Tuli's excitement was palpable, her youthful spirit a breath of fresh air amidst the usual gravity of the Council Chambers.

"Welcome, Padawan Tuli," Valery said warmly, before dipping her own head respectfully.

Valery crossed her arms loosely, allowing her fiery gaze to soften as she regarded the Padawan more closely. Tuli's small frame, with her vibrant blue fur and large, attentive eyes, added to the impression of youthful spirit, and Valery admired the sense of enthusiasm she brought. This Padawan had a thirst for knowledge, a curiosity that Valery valued greatly.

"I've been watching your progress, Tuli, and I believe you're ready for your first real mission in the field. It's going to be a valuable experience for you, but it's also an opportunity for us to learn more about each other." Valery paused, giving the Padawan a moment to settle her excitement.

"We'll go over the details together," Valery added, nodding towards the holo-map. "But first, tell me — how are you feeling about this? I know your excitement is hard to hide," she said with a playful smile, "But do you have any questions or concerns before we begin?"

Tuli Tuli

The grandmaster whad been watching her?! She wanted to learn more about her?! Tuli gave a slow blink of surprise, I mean of course she expected the grandmaster to be aware of students in the temple, but there were so many of them, what had made Tuli stand out to her? That was the first burning question, but one she chose not to ask. Who was she to question the Grandmaster?

She gave a bashful smile at the mention of her barely hidden excitement, revealing sharp teeth as she did. She shifted on her feet, easing herself into a calmer headspace as she did. It wouldn;t do well for her to let her excitement get the better of her. To finally go on a real field mission?

"What sort of mission will we be doing?" A dozen different types whizzed past her mind, a recon mission? Research? Or perhaps diplomatic? Those were the most likely. Others required a level of combat experience that Tuli didn't yet have. That wasn't to say she couldn't hold her own, more that it was better not to bite off more than she could chew. And Tuli had seen the aftermath of a battle to know herself well enough that she wasn;t ready to join the war front just yet.

Valery's smile brightened at Tuli's enthusiastic response. She could see the eagerness sparkling in the young Padawan's eyes and nodded approvingly. "This mission will be a bit of everything," Valery began, glancing down at the holo-map before her. "We're heading to a small outpost on the Mid Rim. The planet itself is quite remote, and there have been some reports of increased criminal activity near the area."

Valery paused for a moment, wanting to gauge Tuli's reaction before continuing.

"Our objective is to gather information and assess the situation firsthand," she explained, her tone steady and reassuring. "But we'll also be interacting with local leaders to understand the broader picture and see if there's a way for us to assist in stabilizing the region."

The Jedi Master's expression softened, her gaze warm. "It's a mission that involves both reconnaissance and diplomacy — two important skills for any Jedi to master. I believe this will be a great opportunity for you to see how a Jedi can make a difference, even without drawing a lightsaber."

Valery leaned down a little, meeting Tuli's gaze directly. "I have full confidence in your abilities, Tuli. You'll have my support every step of the way." She tilted her head, a playful smirk tugging at her lips. "Do you think you're up for it?"

Tuli Tuli

Tuli listened with rapt attention, her wide obsidian eyes fixed on the grandmaster as she explained their mission. Her fur rippled, standing on end before smoothing as her excitement abated and she shifted into a cool calm focus. She would need to be at her best if she was to impress the grandmaster, that meant paying close attention to not only the details of the mission but also understanding the possible outcomes of what they faced.

There was a touch of nerves that tugged at her stomach but she had complete faith in the Grandmaster and the Order, if they had faith in her ability, then she did too. She smiled wide as Valery. "Oh yes, grandmaster." she said bouncing onto the balls of her feet again, the excitement returning, "I'm very good at talking to people."

She folded her hands into the sleeves of her robes, head tilting as she pondered the mission. "Will you tell me more about the activity, planet and leaders we'll be talking to? the more I know the better prepared I can be."

Valery's smile widened as she watched Tuli's enthusiasm bubble back to the surface. The young Padawan's excitement was contagious, and it made Valery even more eager to get started. "I'm glad to hear you're confident with talking to people. That's a skill not every Jedi can claim, so I know you'll do well."

She nodded thoughtfully at Tuli's request for more details. "The planet we're heading to is called Kordona. It's a small, isolated world known for its mining operations. But lately, the increased criminal activity has disrupted supply lines and caused tension among the local leaders."

Valery activated the holo-map, zooming in on a small cluster of buildings surrounded by rough terrain. "Our primary contact will be Administrator Joval Thane. He's the appointed leader of the outpost, but he's been struggling to maintain order. He's asked for our help in finding a solution that doesn't involve heavy-handed tactics or more bloodshed."

She turned her gaze back to Tuli, her expression serious but encouraging. "Our goal is to understand the motives behind the attacks. Are they simply after resources, or is there a deeper issue at play? We'll be speaking with miners, traders, and even some of the families in the community to get a clearer picture."

Valery's smile returned, and she placed a comforting hand on Tuli's shoulder. "It's going to be challenging, but I'm confident we can make a difference. If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to ask. I'm here to guide you."

Tuli Tuli

Tuli sprung up to the edge of the holotable to get a better look at the images that the Grandmaster brought up, large black eyes scanning every detail before her, one ear turned toward Valery as she explained the situation they were walking into.

She nodded along, indicating her understanding. Speaking to the locals would give them a greater insight into the motives the criminals might have. Tuli had never come across a criminal, but she'd read a great deal. They ranged from people who were driven to crime through desperation, and those who were simply cruel and believed themselves above the laws.

She hoped that those attacking Kordona's mining operations were the former. Negotiations with the latter would likely be…problematic.

"I understand, Grandmaster." She tore her eyes from the holomap and settled them onto the leader of the Jedi Order. "When do we leave?"

Valery's smile deepened at Tuli's eagerness and nodded in approval. "Good," she replied, her voice carrying both warmth and a sense of readiness. "We're heading out now."

As they moved through the Temple, the halls buzzed with quiet energy. Valery walked beside Tuli, offering steady guidance. "Remember, we're not just here to enforce the law — we're here to listen, to understand the people's struggles, and find a peaceful solution."

The hangar came into view, the sleek form of The Bastion bathed in the soft glow of lights. Its streamlined hull stood ready, a symbol of the mission ahead. Valery paused at the entrance to the ship, turning to Tuli with a reassuring smile. "It's time. The path ahead won't be easy, but I believe in your ability to handle whatever challenges come our way."

With that, she led the young Padawan up the ramp and into the ship, ready to embark on their mission.
