Help finish the map index, get rewards!

WE NEED TO FINISH THE MAP INDEX AND MAKE IT AN OFFICIAL RESOURCE
Every planet needs it's co-ordinates filling in
In exchange, we have some rewards!

ALL DONE NOW!

Here's how it works:

  • There are eight sectors left to complete on the Map Index
  • Post here if you are taking a sector.
  • Update the INDEX CLICKY.
  • Post here within 48 hours when you have finished adding the co-ordinates for every planet in your colour
  • Claim a reward:
10 posts of development towards any Codex Submission
  • Enough songsteel for a single personal Factory Submission (i.e. Armour OR Weapon OR other)

[*]If you do not reply within 48 hours another writer can claim a colour of tiles and finish them off and steal the reward
[*]Only claim one colour at a time
[*]You may only claim two rewards (one Codex, one Factory)

Colours are (Top to bottom, then left to right):
  • Pink [member="Nicolas Thorne"]
  • Blue [member="Kaili Talith"] Factory
  • Orange [member="Ilias Nytrau"]
  • Red [member="Sable"]
  • Yellow [member="Aster Rose Baelor"]
  • White [member="Isamu Baelor"]
  • Purple [member="Zeradias Mant"]
  • Green [member="Ajira Cardei"] Codex
Strikethroughs are being worked on. Any that have been completed will have the name of the one who gets the reward next to it.

What if you used character recognition software? You fill the hexes with the same color as the text except for the one you're searching, then use the OCR to pull the text. Repeat with other colors.

Edit: actually, just cut out the part you're searching. Better idea. Then use the character recognition software. Adobe is one option.

Also edit: OCR. O, not I. D'oh. Not D'ih.

We don't need to find which planets are in which colour, that's arbitrary.

We need the coordinates filled in on the linked sheet for everyone one of the remaining zones.

Accidentally did half the pink (they look purple). Note that there is no record of the planets Snili in the Wiki or Chaos Codex. Additionally, the planet 'Jazbinna' appears on the map as a custom planet - it is in fact a canon planet. I have made the necessary updates in the index, now only the map needs updating to reflect this.

I don't have adobe acrobat, or the extension that will allow it, but, if you have the means to do OCR--which will allow the map to be a searchable PDF--you could get a computer to index the whole map for you. Then anyone who can type "CTRL + F" can find a planet on the map.

If you wanted to separate the map into hexes, this same method could give you and automatically-indexed list. I hope I'm not annoying anyone by this. I just don't know many people who know about OCR outside of graphic design and archiving professions.

Purple section is done.

  • Elgit system added to index
  • Gos Hutta system added to index
  • Cyax system added to index
  • Nyrvona system added to index
  • There is no record of a planet called 'Antecedant' on the WIki or the Chaos Codex. It's information was not added to the index.
  • Makeb system added to index
  • Nadiem system added to index
  • Glottal system added to index
  • Moralan system added to index
  • Honoghr system added to index
