Hide Dark Side Appearance ?

The Darkside Corrupts, its an infallible fact displayed in pretty much every instance of canon. Yoda was stated to touch the Darkside of the Force only once, and he had to fight his entire life against the urge to seize and use it more.

Once the darkside gets hold of you it begins to twist and change you whether mentally or physically. You can see this in many instances in the movies, books, and video games. Darth Sion became so corrupted and twisted that his flesh became cracked and broken, his eyes became white and desiccated, yet he walked on. Kreia, was steeped in the darkside much the same, perhaps more so, but physically she was mostly unaffected, yet her mind became broken and cracked beyond repair as she used the darkside of the force more and more, eventually leading her to madness of wanting to destroy the force(an impossible task).

The Darkside Corrupts, no matter what you do.

Personally, most of my characters don't last long enough to be corrupted, though a few of them have been utterly destroyed by the darkside.

Moridin was so corrupted in the end that he was basically the Darkside itself, having gone through chaos so many times that his mind had difficulty separating itself from thousands of other Sith Lords that had died. He was so seeped and fully corrupted that his body was much like Sion's, unable to die, fun fact, Ashin once ran him through with a lightsaber which caused him to have a hole in his chest for a few weeks. He looked natural, but only because he twisted the darkside to make him look that way. Underneath he was ugly as shit, and if he used the Darkside extensively that showed through, his skin cracking and breaking, inner demon coming out, etc... His eyes were always orange though, family lineage type thing.

Nemene's fall was way more gradual. She was never really all that stable so her mind was never really corrupted, physically however, by the time she died her skin had grown pale, purple Sith Script lined her entire body, and her eyes were a constant purple glow. Nemene considered herself the most beautiful thing alive, and her physical corruption was symbolic of her complete fall as she lost what was most pressure to her.

Shara...obvious on that one, demon.

Mierin, if you observe how i fight, Mierin doesn't actually use the darkside all that much. The one time she did was on Teta, where she drew on it to live. Because of that she hasn't really been corrupted all that much, though her mental state is clearly deteriorating due to her contact with the Dark Lord and further use of the Darkside. Though as a Sith Pureblood there's a sort of natural resistance to it.

Now, as for my most powerful Sith Lord, Soliael. He's one of the most powerful Sith Sorceres in the board, learned from a few teachers as well as ancient texts, thus he uses the Darkside of the force in its most pure and powerful expression. His corruption runs deep, every time he uses Sorcery he goes blind for a few minutes and his body is in a constant state of being torn apart by the darkside while simultaneously being rebuilt by the technovirus, causing him eternal agony. Soliael is keenly aware of the effects of the darkside, and uses the Technovirus to combat the destruction, his more than human physiology also allow shim to stave off the psychotic effects of the darkside, and his willpower keeps him mostly intact and joking. Lots of training will do that.

Every single one of my characters that has touched or uses the Darkside is somehow being corrupted at all times. Controlling the darkside entirely is impossible, Even Palpatine and Naga Sadow admitted that, its simply too strong. A character can think it, heck Moridin though he owned the darkside, but a writer shouldn't.

As for hiding Darkside Appearance, theres a thousand ways, for the members of the One Sith who want an easy way. Get an Ooglith Masquer and wear that.

An example of this being false is Anakin's fall to the dark side. He had not used the dark side of the force at all, it was his actions and his fall to the dark side in terms of morality that caused his physical change. The usage of the force itself doesn't mean anything, the force apparently corrupts you as you synergize with it rather than just using it.
It might also have something to do with the nice little swim he took in a volcano...

Take an old play out of Darth Krayt's playbook, potentially using his bloodline and genetics to hide his physical weakness/deterioration. At the end of the day, the mark and corruption of the sith comes in many forms. Some, it's the toll it takes on them physically and I think this is really the easiest route to go (not bashing that or anything, just my opinion) but it is also easier for drive-by-readers to understand. It's just there, the flesh withering and chipping away, they eyes burned yellow/red, etc. The more intriguing, and particularly frightening route, is the losing of ones mind to the dark side. I've built this into Reverance in the form of his parasitic twin, slowly flashburning away memories and twisting Gabriel to his purpose, but it doesn't always have to be so...literal. Fear of death, fear of loss power, the corruption of the mind into a state of paranoia...these are very real symptoms of those who obtain power quickly, as is the way of the darkside. Look to Al Capone and Tony Montana for good examples of this. The only problem with this route is that the severity can only be truly discerned from the eye of someone who has kept up with the character, lest we be stuck in monologue about the characters mental decay with each post (I guess this is where the biography really becomes useful). The difference between mental and physical corruption may seem nuanced at first but I, for one, am glad that people don't all go the same route with and even more grateful that I have yet to experience a Star Wars site that forces the issue. All adds to the flavor.

If people were to create characters using the dark side with no corruption at all, well they would have the ability to create a perfect character. And who wants that? Leaves nowhere left to go.
