"We lost our first child to these people," the woman clarified with a pained expression. "To this day, we don't know what happened to her." Valery frowned and Vera seemed saddened too, but Yvaine did not want to linger on something that happened a long time ago.
Kahlil then picked up Valery, who blinked and did nothing to resist as he set her down. Yvaine just smiled at the loving display and nodded in agreement. "I don't think I'll ever be able to forgive those people, but it was wrong to blame you. Your daughter showed me what you did for our people. Thank you, and I hope you can forgive me."
"She did what?" Valery blinked and looked at Vera for answers. "Vision! I showed her!" Vera giggled.
"Oh, baby..." Valery felt her eyes tear up, and walked over to hug her daughter and kiss her forehead. "You didn't have to do that."
"I want you to be happy, mommy." Vera smiled and glanced back at Yvaine, who finally held out the book she had with her. Valery was a little overwhelmed with joy, and looked at the offered book, before taking it. "I collected every picture of your parents and sister that I could find. They're all in there."
Valery began to look through them and smiled softly before looking up at her husband. "I look just like my mom, hm?" she chuckled and stepped into him a little.
