I'm not trying to bud back into this or make matters worse, or anything. Just thought this would be interesting insight.
I, as a relatively new member (yes, I could a month and a couple days very much as still in the border of "Site Newbie"), was kind of turned off by the actions that took place. Again, yes, it was supposed to be an easygoing holiday thing for -pardon my language- sh*ts and giggles. It is still very much a public thread and attacking others mercilessly rather than in the spirit of the thread (why not just get angry and throw balls of ice/crushed snow at people, like I did?) is technically fair game.
However -and this is primarily my point of this post- I was realistically ready to pretty much quit the site if he incapacitated or vegitated my barely-month old character. You guys seem to forget you set the precedent and first impression of the site as a whole. Yes, you, the guys with older join dates and sometimes thousands of posts. You can make someone still impressionable hate you and think this place is just a bloodbath, or make them feel very welcomed and believe this to be a very sensible community - IC and OOC!
Lastly, and least major of my point, is that weapons were explicitly restricted as stated in the OP. It's just downright rude to join someone else's thread, especially when they only seek holiday cheers and just one thread where we all get alone as members, tear up the place, completely disregard their OP and then go on a powerparade. I can sympathize with why she called him a dick, and personally it made me kind of giggle too (I did tell her it's not worth getting into trouble on my behalf saying things like that), even though I don't necessarily justify it.
The point is it's rude, it sets the bar for people, and it's generally not a good way to improve the community as a whole let alone make another friend or two. Because, yes, someone is going to hate you and avoid every other Master and their grandma once they get deaded by one of you for no reason; and that's something as both a vet and a friendly person you really need to remember, IC motives or not. Because you play them, not vice versé.
TL;DR : What you do, especially on the weaker and newer members, in simple sociable threads like these no less, can very well cause the site to be one or two members less because of it. And you certainly won't be making any allies. So just be weary of how you act, or don't join the thread at all. It's really quite that simple.

(Edit: Also, while I already have this post on top, I'd like to make a side note of something. If a semi-pro baseball player can throw anywhere from between 70 up to 90 on a good day, what makes you think that adding even a fraction of that speed on top of it with a slight boost of the Force isn't going to send a baseball sized object (likely of lesser weight in fact) hurdling at over a hundred? Yes, I'm (probably for another week) at Padawan level. I can justify it within her level, or perhaps my actions were simply misread to which I say "alright, fair do's, s*** happens." Moral of the story; don't underestimate/undermine a FU or assume everything they try to do is done purely through the Force.)
