How do you name your character?

Rayliav'enci

If I was green, I would die.
I was working at a bridal shop and there were two popular dress makers named Raylia and DaVinci.

I smash words together until I like the way it sounds.

Verinoma is a mashup of virus and melanoma.

Sinistra is my different one. Sinistra is Italian for left and is root of the English words sin and sinister.

Isamu Baelor

Protector of The Iron Realm
I take mine from anime/video games/tv shows

Isamu Baelor:
  • Isamu = Isamu Dyson from Macross Plus
  • Baelor = Baelor Targaryen from Got
Raoh Logarius:
  • Raoh = Raoh The Conqueror from Fist of the North Star
  • Logarius = Martyr Logarius from Bloodborne
Vengarl Vereen:
  • Vengarl = Vengarl from Dark Souls 2
  • Vereen = Clan Vereen.

80% of the time it's some sort of mythological influence.

  • Vrag means devil in many Slavic languages. Archaic word, though.
  • Nergal is the god of pestilence and underworld in Akkadian/Babylonian mythos
  • Laguz Vald is a combination of two Old Norse runes/words. Water/Deceiving control is the rough translation.
  • Orkamaat is a merger of two gods' names; Orcus and Maat. Personality-wise, he's also a merger between the two.
  • Adder is a nickname/shorthand for Ad Yrá Kjormenkaur Traficit, which doesn't really roll off the tongue. That name is constructed entirely of "it sounded cool" words.
  • Ari is also a nickname/shorthand for Arathul Moriir Shamalain. Blame half on [member="Lorelei Darke"]. The rest is again just what sounded cool. :p

Kentarch. With a Darth in front of it. I think you all know what it means.

His real name is a mix of names of ace fighters from the Ace Combat series. However unless your clever with a search engine, I'll never tell it.

Ijaat? I named him a while back, a long while back, from simple Mando'a words. I thought it sounded cool. I don't follow a particular bend, but Ostanes and Alcuin are names drawn from history that relate to their 'archetypes' so to speak.

Mullarus was the name I gave my first Sith Warrior in SWTOR. I thought it sounded super badass. SWTOR Mullarus was actually a bald cyborg who was 100% evil. Chaos Mullarus' appearance is based off another of my SWTOR characters I made named Odylec. I pretty much just combined the two to make a young aspiring Sith. In the beginning, I even planned for Mullarus to suffer a traumatic battle or experience that destroys most of his body and he is rebuilt like Darth Vader to be as much machine as man, but I decided if I ever do that, it will be a while.

I first come up with a concept, then i create the characters personality and history and tweak his back ground to suit. Then i come up with a name that fits it. For this character, he is a nomad of death and destruction, he doesn't stay and he is mysterious in most regards. So he became a title.

My man! It helps develop a personality/goals further if you name them after a god or other mythological character as well. You kind of adjust your character's personality/goal slightly to echo their namesake too

Spencer is actually the name I would have picked for myself if I got to name myself :p . I've always loved it. Jacobs was just the name of the author on a book that was on the book shelf - had a nice ring to it never looked back.
