Description: Ice is the first attempt by [member="Kiriko"] Howlingfjord to complete a traditional Jedi Artisan work of art; the lightsaber of a Jedi Knight. For any Jedi Padawan, the construction of a lightsaber is considered a milestone in their personal and professional development in the Holy Order of Jedi Knights, but for a Jedi Artisan it represents a portfolio of sorts - the fruit of all their labors and the promise of what future works of art they might develop for the Jedi. With this first piece, Kiriko abandoned traditional lightsaber construction materials and opted for something radical: transparisteel. The shroud covering the mechanical components of the hilt is composed of B'sant, a kind of stained glass made out of construction-grade transparisteel. This gives Ice its 'smokey and silvery' appearance, as the B'sant stained transparisteel used is arranged in alternating patterns of gray and silver. A beam gem is then artfully crafted as an elaborate, celtic knot style crossguard, forming the focusing lens for the blade. The blade color of Ice is a rich indigo, suggesting tones that are both cooling blue and warm violet. The use of ferrocarbon in the pommel helps achieve balance with the weight of the crystal mechanism and emitter ring at the top of the hilt. Kiriko hopes that the weapon, by invoking the imagery of ice, will be a reminder to his master of their mutual homeworld of Midvinter. The alternating shades of grey and silver are also meant to imply the symbiotic relationship between the Valkyri and the Beorni.
