Sorel Crieff

Ready are you? What know you of ready?
Sorel listened. The idea of being able to adjust the length of the blade was an obvious way around carrying more than one weapon, although Sorel was something of a traditionalist. There was something about holding a shoto as a separate weapon that she would need to reconcile if she were to change her mind.

“I’ll consider it, once we deal with these critters. Any obvious plan come to mind?”

Orihime nodded her head while she was preparing for it and... no her ideas involved either taming them or trapping them if they weren't just going to kill them. "Taming them with the force or some traps might be best if we don't want to just kill them but it could be dangerous." She was thinking about it as the sounds of the creatures were coming closer with her attention on some of the bigger and better things. The padawan was grinning to herself with a plan maybe... okay not a plan but she was going to try and trap them in the one room with a gas grenade. That would or should do the work at least while she opened one of the doors. "If we lure them in and trap them it could work though."

Sorel nodded her appreciation with the plan. "I like the sound of that. I could use Animal Friendship and plant a notion or emotion in their minds. Something that would encourage them to head to the room. Make them believe they scent and hear a wounded animal perhaps. An easy kill. That would work wouldn't it?"

Looking at Sorel as she had the right idea and it would be a way to do this without just killing everything before she moved over with some of her attention on the bigger and better things. "That could work." She was staying over there witht he tangler grenades setting them up so they would be triggered when they closed the door to protect against the creatures. "We'll do that and hope it works." She was smirking to herself and moved over to the other side to watch them when they were coming to them in the area. "You distract them and get them in there, I'll trigger the grenades and get the doors closed on them and then we just have to hope some of them aren't stragglers."

Sorel closed her eyes and using Force Sight quickly found the creatures. Then she sought to contact them through their emotions. There were a few that were strong. Hunger was one and fear was another. Perhaps being on a ship was alien to them?

Regardless, she linked to them one by one and began to plant a thought. She told each of them they had heard the sound of a nest of skittermice. These would be an easy meal for the predators and as Sorel expected, they moved swiftly and silently towards the sound they imagined they'd heard - where Orihime was planning to trap them.

She stayed with it and focued on the force energies pushing all of it forward with a small grin on her face now. Letting the force flow throughout her body before breathing in that sharp intake of breath to expand her senses outwards. The creatures were going in with Sorels work to get them into the room while she maintained herself to be still without them seeing her. Turning her attention when they entered until she was certain they were all in, all cleared and she worked setting off the grenades while she closed the door charging it to close it quickly before they went off with the pop pop of the liquid that would restrain them for a time and she backed away looking towards Sorel. "You are certain that was all of them right?"

Ready are you? What know you of ready?
Sorel observed Orihime and searched for the creatures with her mind. Fear and confusion were the primary emotions now and so powerful were the thoughts that it clouded her vision momentarily.

Once she had come to terms with the strength of the feelings, she was able to search the nearby area. "One didn't fall for the trick. If there's a plus to this, we don't have to go looking for it, it's heading right for us."

And right on cue the creature appeared - it was clearly the alpha of the back. And it looked annoyed.

Orihime looked at Sorel and then she could feel and hear the creature coming at them as she could think of a few things but it was really hard to say they should kill it after all that work for nonlethal ideas. She wasn't going to just run at the beast though but they could outsmart it while she stood up ready for it and prepared to handle it. "Alright then, lets do this and lets get out safely." She said it with a grin on her face though while holding her saber while extending it a little so it was like a staff she could use to bat it away instead of using it for a saber to slash the animal. Sorel was showing the skill and now time to work it while the others were closed away in the tangler netting.

Ready are you? What know you of ready?
Sorel nodded her agreement. She was already trying to connect with the creature but was having no more success this time around. Clearly it was older than the others and its mind was not easily swayed. With time, Sorel could have worked on the creature but to rush it risked damaging its brain. And right now she was not prepared to hurt it if she could help it.

“It’s not going to roll over I’m afraid. We need a Plan B I’m sorry to say.”

Alright then.... plan b... What was plan B? Orihime thought about it and came away with the only clear idea in this situation. Plan B was bamp... bop.... boom. As she had her staff and extended it to fight the beast and knock it around charging him for a moment before she slid low to the ground hugging it and using the staff as it extending like a pole for vaulting to catch it and throw it back into the ceiling and hopefully somewhere Sorel was sitting him down. She had a few ideas for fighting it but without killing it they needed to cause a lot of blunt trauma to knock it out at least or slow it down by hurt but not maiming so it chose to think better then to attack the two padawans.

Ready are you? What know you of ready?
Sorel didn’t give up with the mental approach. And she relied on Orihime to keep the beast at bay as she gave the task in hand her full focus. She could see Orihime’s plan — to distract the creature so much that it’s mental guard would drop and Sorel could plant a strong enough thought or emotion to neutralise it.

It was a simple plan — at least when you said it quickly. Distracting a creature that was intent on eating you without hurting it seriously was not as easy as it sounded. But Orihime did her best, it had to be said, so Sorel kept probing and waiting for an opening.

She could see Sorel taking the time to get ready for full force as the beast went over her head and Orihie rolled to the side using the force to push herself up and then off one of the walls with another blast. To correct herself while she was rather impressed with herself... cause that had been awesome and she was wishing there was someone to have taken a picture. She had a little pride that could fill an entire spaceport... so what while she moved getting it to chase her around and kicked off a wall batting it away with her spin so it rolled over and into the other side. That would have or at least should have given enough of an opening to Sorel to work with as the thing seemed to be content with snarling at her.

Ready are you? What know you of ready?
However challenging Sorel’s part in this was, Orihime’s was significantly more challenging. She watched out of the corner of one eye as her friend took on the creature single-handed. It was an impressive display as she distracted the beast without dying in the process.

If the display distracted Sorel, it certainly sidetracked the creature. Its mental defences were dropped whilst it focused on eating Orihime. But given it was so intent on eating her, Sorel knew it would take a powerful impulse to stop it.

So she did the only thing she could think of. She sent a mental command as strongly as she dared and hoped for the best.

A matter of seconds later, the creature slumped to the floor, fast asleep. Slumber was the option she went for and fortunately it worked. But she didn’t know how long it would last. “Quick,” she said. “Tie it up or something.”

What did she have to tie the creature up with? She was thinking to herself with a nod of her head while she was thinking about it. The best ways to work on many of the things before she was moving near it with a fiber cord and putting it on. She wasn't used to hogtying creatures so she tried it out with a bow of her head. "Alright lets get going." She looked at the creature with a nod of her head while she was looking forward towards Sorel and letting a breath out a moment later prepared for any number of things they might be able to do. "We should hurry, I have no idea if I tied it properly and was focused ready for anything." She was moving leaving room for Sorel to come with her prepared to the situation if they were running.

Sorel Crieff

Ready are you? What know you of ready?
Sorel half-smiled as she had given Orihime all of the hard work — but she knew she was capable of handling herself.

And she had no idea how securely tied the beat was but if Orihime was not confident, it set the alarm bells off in Sorel’s head. “Time to leave,” she agreed and within seconds they were running through the corridors. Yet despite the gravity of the situation, a smile formed on Sorel’s face — that became a broad grin and finally a fit of giggles.

“Not funny,” she managed to get out as they ran. “But I can’t stop laughing.”

Orihime was running with her and there was a moment mostly because she had no idea what was happening when Sorel started giggling and then laughing while she turned to look at her going through the ship. "What is so funny?" She asked it but the infection was there with her as she was laughing just as much with her going through the tunnels. her attention to the details turning things around when she saw the way they had managed to come in and threw down her last tangler grenade with a timer so they could run though and clog up the passageway to them. It would make it easier to ensure they were safe before she pointed. "Laugh later, dive bomb to the desett and freedom now." Orihime moved and surged a little to get through the broken window and clear it with a laugh as she was rolling in the sands.

Ready are you? What know you of ready?
Sorel could not explain why she was laughing and nor could she stop it. But fortunately she was taking the situation seriously.

She knew the route they’d taken and was able to retrace their steps at pace, heading back to the cockpit. Finally they reached their point of entry and Sorel followed Orihime through the broken screen and — using the Force — managed to jump a decent distance into the desert before landing and performing a forward roll before jumping to her feet.

“I think getting back to the ship is a sensible idea, yes?” At least she’d stopped laughing.

Looking at her as Orihime stood up agreeing with her... after she brushed some sand out of her hair and robes the padawan was looking at some of the things they had and could do. "Agreed, lets go and head back. We can send my mother a report on this and then go see where the coordinates are sending us." She said the last with a grin as it seemed to point past silver sanctum space and they could work with that as the padawan laughed as well. Seeing the ship and where it was sovered in the sand. "This isn't funny but your laughing is infectious... I think we should get back to the skyfall."

Sorel Crieff

Ready are you? What know you of ready?
Sorel dusted the sand off her robes and nodded to Orihime. “Another adventure draws to a close, and off to the next one. And you’re right. Let’s file a report on what we’ve found here and head to wherever the Holocron suggests we need to go. Somewhere less sandy I hope.”

She looked at her friend and getting back to the skyfall secured what they had found in the ship. It was a nice thing the jeep was so lightweight compared to some of the heavier ones just built to handle the real pressures and danger's of beign weighted down before she started going back towards the ship. Small alerts on the messages when they arrived showed some relief ships had arrived to get the slavers and help the people with some more of the modules from her mother so they could be happy at least as much as one could on Jakku. Orihime started playing the message as one of the ships had delivered them a care package of new robes and equipment they could use when she smiled seeing the message from her mother. "You both left so quickly I dind't have a chance to share these robes, they are using the new enhancements we have been working on. Super lightweight, with sewn in force shielding and environmental protection. The glassy mesh will be able to the longer you wear it resist lightsabers, blades and energy weapons striking you. There is also a couple more things we have been working on and new navigational data we have. Enjoy it and both of you be safe." Orihime looked at Sorel for a moment as she thought about it. "Well we can use the updated coordinates and map data with the old map from the holocron and head out while sending the report. My mom has restocked us a little at least."
