Sorel Crieff

Ready are you? What know you of ready?
The jeep was a welcome sight for Sorel. She jumped in as they received updates — and she was pleased to see that the slavers had been taken care of and the locals had received aid. It was what being a Jedi was all about to Sorel. Helping people. She was competent in battle but she would not be upset if she never fought another dark-sider. As long as she could provide aid and ensure law and order prevailed, she’d be happy.

And the care package brought a broad grin to her face. She was becoming more and more interested in technology and how it interfaced with her previously traditional life as a Jedi. “The robes seem perfect and we can play with the new toys en route to wherever the coordinates take us, yes? Any idea what they might be?”

Orihime was looking at it and based on the coordinates she was not totally certain but they could discover that when it all came up. it was a little out of the way, somewhere few if any people actually went as opposed to jedi explorers who could defend themselves and she had a small grin on her face. "We'll find out when we get there, so long as it is oxygen so we don't need a bulky suit." Which wasn't true they had developed suits with far more quality compared to others while she was looking over a few of the things and bringing the jeep around to get them back to the ship. There were some other updates about what was happening when she gunned it in a straight away into the desert following Sorels beacon on the ship. "Exploring and mystery are where the fun begins after all."

“Exploring and mystery,” Sorel echoed. “My favourite things. Apart from being a Jedi of course. And your mother’s wonderful drinks. And this bracelet.” She held up her wrist to expose the metal that regulated temperature and filtered certain substances. “And you and my Master of course.”

She laughed softly. “Definitely in my top ten…probably. So let’s wrap things up here as quickly as we can and we can then head off to those coordinates. And given fun is definitely in my top five, exploring and mystery can be assured of a top spot, can’t they.”

She smiled. “I may have gotten over the fit of giggles, but I can’t seem to be too serious right now. Maybe a long space flight will be the remedy.”

That was the spirit and Orihime could work with it while she was going over some of the other things in her mind. Prepared to work with Sorel when they were setting the course to meet up with the Sasori team, report in and then they could continue out to adventure. She had to agree with the top things as the food and drinks from her mother, being a jedi, her friend and all of this were among her top ten favorite things as well. "Agreed on all of it, we shall have to see and go from here with what we really want to do." Orihime was prepared for any number of things when she was moving with the other jedi in the ship heading away from Jakku where she would like to return one day and learn what they could really discover. The course was being set in with a nod of her head as she turned to look at Sorel. "We'll have some fun with it and discover who knows what so more things to have in your favorites. Might even have some new gear."

As they prepared to leave Jakku, Sorel looked back at the planet. “I suspect that isn’t the last we see of that place. I sense as much. It’s not only the history of the place – and the potential for undiscovered relics. There is a pull there for me. I can’t explain it but I recognise the feeling. In the fullness of time, the Force will show me what this feeling means. For now, it is time to move on, to prepare for the next mission. The next story.”

She glanced around, “And I am in no doubt we’ll have plenty of new gear to work with, if I know your mother.” Sorel invariably referred to her Master this way when with Orihime. It felt more natural and less formal. She was important in both of their lives but it seemed appropriate to refer to her in this way with her friend.

She was looking at Sorel and that was true there would be plenty to see from he rmother and she knew there was always something new being worked on even if it wasn't fully understood. Orihime prepared herself for the possibility of it all though when she was working it to set the course for them in the ship to head off. "Oh she likely will there is a few things to count on and making new tech for testing out or showing to use is a thing. That it is usually very lightweight and compact also helps the desire and wanting to take it with you everywhere you go." That was a fun part as well but it could fill up your equipment bag really quickly if you weren't careful about it.

Sorel said goodbye to Jakku in her mind. Or rather she bid au revoir, as she knew she would be back here soon. And then she mentally shifted her focus to the here and now and their upcoming trip – into potentially uncharted space and to face who knew what.

“What’s your view on technology? Or rather, your view on Jedi and technology. I mean, when is it progress and when does it go beyond what a Jedi ought to traditionally be using? How do I know – or should I even care? It’s something I think about often but I’m quite old-fashioned in my thinking but I’m unsure if this is necessarily a bad thing. And I value your judgement.”

Orihime looked at her and. "I am not certain there is a limit I mean jedi do say they are simple but have you seen the amount of funding they have access to, ships, credits so all of the order can eat plenty, schooling, research, operations, the ability to go out into the galaxy. We use technology just as much as anybody and it has been part of the order for a long time. Even our lightsabers are some of the most advanced technology that to use safely you need that ability of the force to properly handle. So my opinion is if the technology is helping the order and not ruling it, if we are not like other groups that hold it over people and treat ourselves as superior because of it. If we use it to better those who want it and need it then it is alright to have."

Sorel listened intently. She greatly valued Orihime’s opinion. After her first Master’s death, she’d travelled the galaxy alone for a few years – and was alone with her thoughts, opinions and the Code. It was, she had recently reflected, why she had become so intransigent with her view of the Jedi and the universe at large. There had been nobody to debate with, to bounce thoughts and ideas off. So everything that came into her mind became ingrained to the point that she found it impossible to shift from a given mind-set, regardless of the subject.

And it had taken her Master – and also her friend here – to shake her from that position. Her strong views had added to a dominant personality and spilled over into arrogance, which she’d only slowly and recently been able to shift from. She was still confident – especially in her own abilities, but she was now prepared to listen, and to change her view if necessary. To some it was nothing – to Sorel it had been a seismic shift.

“I like simple things, but as you say, if it helps us in our goal to keep the peace, then technology should be embraced. As long as it is not at the cost of our identity, it should be a good thing.” She seemed satisfied with this approach and ready to move on from the conversation. “Right, where to now?”

Looking at Sorel with a grin on her face while she was thinking about it there was a couple of moments they could work on. She wanted to work on more where they were going when the information came up. "To Shri-Tal to drop off the information and then we will be headed out towards it looks like." She said it while looking at the coordinates. "An area on the edge of the galaxy here near Kelsier." The thought was there before she was prepared to work on more of the information. "We should be able to find the planet there and give ourselves something interesting." Oh yes this would be fun and the conversations never got boring between the two of them so there was that as well.

Sorel knew little of the system – but she knew some things – as even the concept of wild space was one that intrigued her when she first travelled alone. There was a massive ring of gas and dust known as the Mistcloak – which it seems, allowed the planet of Kelsier from being detected for a long time.

She knew the planet’s primary terrain was not unlike Rhen Var. But she knew little else about the planet and hardly anything about the wider system. She was sure that the Echani were involved somewhere, but her memory did not allow her to be any more specific.

“Wild space!” There was an anticipation in her voice. “As long as we’re careful, it should be fun. Did I mention that I include an element of risk-taking in my definition of fun?” There was a gleam in her eye now. Uncharted space held a definite attraction to the young Padawan.

Orihime looked at her and raised an eyebrow in agreement. "I do believe I remember hearing that about you." She said the joke but it was a good one and why not they were an awesome team together exploring the galaxy and seeing everything that was going on around them. Some really cool impressive skills compared to many others but she was excited getting the course set in so they could go and explore the world.. that was covered in ice but who knew they might be abel to do some cool things with it when they got there or discover things... discovering things was always a cool trick when you got down to it and she knew her mother would be excited. Third most important was it was close to sanctum space and the mapping relays if something went wrong they could easily call for back up from her mother.

“So, what is in the database about our destination? I ask as we’re obviously hoping that whatever we’re looking for is undiscovered and intact. So are there any records of any finds there? Any rumours or suggestions that something had been found? Anything Jedi related?”

Sorel knew that there was a strong chance they would find the cupboard bare when they arrived – but also figured that any special find would have been recorded somewhere – by someone.

She gave a small look while bringing up the different things that they would be able to do and the information that was in the database about the planet. The mapping relays that they had been working on many of the things. They were presenting more of the... nothingness. "There isn't much, notes about stygium that has been discovered and one of the reasons why people go to the world." She noted there were a few small things but the snow obscured and covered up a lot of it. "If there is anything there it might have been buried beneath the snow by now."

Sorel Crieff

Ready are you? What know you of ready?
Sorel shook her head. “Coordinates are one thing, but if they refer to a place buried under ice and snow, that presents its own problems.” But her face did not reflect it being a problem. “Although that would mean it is far less likely to have been discovered.” She smiled at the positive outcome to what others might see as only offering negatives.

“Do we have equipment that might help us dig? Or a droid?” She had experience of mining droids – not all were positive – but she knew of their benefits if they functioned correctly.

[member="Sorel Crieff"]

"Yes we do, my mother always prefers to be prepared with things and she wanted to make sure we have everything." THe seeder ships were in just about every system creating and mapping them. Which was how they met many of the things with a nod of her head to the screens showing he blips when she brought up the information about the seeder and mapping networks. "The seeder ships were designed to go to explorable systems and one would set up sending out drones and establishing relays to map the system and the area in between the ships. We can contact it and have it send the mining droids down to meet us if we need to get down into the ice."

Sorel Crieff

Ready are you? What know you of ready?
Sorel always expected her Master to be thorough and was used to her always being one step ahead. But that did not mean she wasn’t regularly surprised at how organised her Master was – or the lengths she went to in ensuring things went smoothly. Even when Sorel figured her actions had come out of left field.

“She thinks of everything,” she said out loud, echoing her thoughts. “And I think it’s a good idea to plan to do some mining. I suspect that after this length of time, whatever we seek will go the way of Rhen Var and be under considerable amounts of snow and ice – or even rock.”

[member="Sorel Crieff"]

"well then we shall have a great time with it." The controls on the screen showed many of the things that were working on some of the things they could. The seeder ship came up to display it for her with the ship. THe computer was giving them a number of things when she gave the request to start mining on the planet indicated or at least scanning and looking for things they might be able to find. "THe world has stygium which can mess with the sensors and probes that are searching so we will have to be careful but we should be able to discover something interesting and who knows what we might be able to discover or what this holocron might hold."

Sorel Crieff

Ready are you? What know you of ready?
Sorel wrinkled her nose. “Stygium!” She left it hanging as a statement before continuing. “Where there’s stygium, there’s mining. And mining could easily mean what we’re looking for has been discovered. Or, if we look at it positively, the volume of stygium could mean that whatever we’re looking for is less likely to have been discovered.”

“But let’s wait and see what the sensors tell us before I jump to too many conclusions.”

[member="Sorel Crieff"]

A good plan for that and there was a chance that if there was mining already happening on the planet then they could use the equipment or tunnels to get closer. it could all work together for a better purpose. Hmm she tapped her chin while the sensors from the probes and drones were going over the planet. Their trip in hyperspace while she pulled out the holocron that they had discovered and opened it up again with the armband when she was looking over what they might have found. The gatekeeper appeared for her when she was looking to work on it and he seemed interesting kind of. "Gatekeeper what is your name?" Orihime was curious about that and given the area of study there was a good chance they could discover a few nice things around. The gatekeeper were looking at them. "I am Chu-Gon Dar."
