Yes, if you're in the vicinity of the garrison and outlying areas, it can affect you.
By "Republic" I meant enemy tech so yeah, pubs and allies. However you bring up a good point that it's not clear. I'll make edits accordingly!

First, apologies for not yet replying; the amount of posts overwhelmed me a bit, but now I think I have an idea as to what is going on.
[member="Cryax Bane"]'s droids and whatnot are marching towards the northeast valley, where [member="Ali Hadrix"]'s ships or artillery are shooting at them. Cryax's other troops are heading southeast, where [member="Alva Calvarona"]'s troops have them in a sort of crossfire.
Despite losing two probes (teehee, "probes"), Cryax's other two are still sending him footage, and he has sent more troops to the west. Meanwhile, his slivers have hacked the Republic communication thingy.
[member="Isamu Baelor"] has landed and has sent two groups south and southwest, and sent a squadron to attack Republican artillery. At the same time, [member="Ciara"] Jevneker and her forces are firing at Mythosaurs near Ali. As she is not a friend of the Sith, I assume those to be [member="Draco Vereen"] (I've thus far only read from Cryax's second post onward).
[member="Keira Ticon"] has also entered the party, not only ordering slivers to beat back Cryax's people but has also seemed to have declared personal war on the Chiss. (Bane, you have my condolences.)
And that brings us to [member="Commander Lusk"] and, again, [member="Draco Vereen"]. Draco is retaliating against Ciara, while the Good Commander is not only re-establishing the Republican communications but is also moving forward with Ms. Ticon, hoping to not only throw his own artillery into the mix but to also bring forth a pincher movement from the rear.
Sorry for the play-by-play; sometimes it helps me understand what is happening. And, providing that is correct, where do I fit in? I was last with Cryax's forces, before they moved out. I only have a squad of 7 individuals.
