Invasion Into Hell, We March (Authority Invasion of Naboo)

Louise

here for your dad
LOCATION: Transport
ALLIES: Abrion Systems Authority, Rahvin Talith
ENEMIES: Omega Protectorate
OBJECTIVE: It's just banter, mate.

While Rahvin observed fearful soldiers, Ilyena observed her constantly frowning brother.

This was a situation she viewed rather impassively. The galaxy had evidently hit puberty and the pimples of war had come bursting upon its face, ready to leave scars and pock marks in the form of devastated planets and ship graveyards. Not that it mattered. Just the way that things went.

Empathy was hardly Ilyena's strong point.

“Nervous?” she asked, standing alongside her sibling clutching the grab-rope that hung above their heads.

After all, this was going to be a true test of ability, not just playing with the animals with the Bestia. This was a real genuine war experience. They were going to kill today. Not unusual for any creature that wielded that surname of Talith, but still, they say the first time is special, it's a charm, something about birds and bees. Wait no, wrong first time...

“I sincerely hope that you've studied up upon the local fauna, Rahvin.”

Enemies: Systems Authority
Objective: Head to Naboo

He and his men began to form in the dropship, Havoc squad armor gleaming in the lights of the hangar. He looked somber, and then looked at Dish. He blinked. He could feel it too."This doesn't feel too groovy, does it Dish?"He said in a sort of matter-of-factly way. Fights were normal for Havoc. He would wait until the others got in, a few OP soldiers that needed to hitch a ride."These guys like to fight. There are some Sith."He laid the weapon across his knees, doing a quick inspection.

"There are some regular dudes. But they wanna take Naboo. And that ain't gonna happen. I don't care what [member="Feena Mason"] says, I don't care what anyone else says. You're listening to me. You stick to each other. We move together, and we fight together. And we like to fight just as much as they do. I don't know our specific objectives yet, but I want us all to stick together. Don't wander off unless I specifically tell you."He looked between the remainder of Havoc squad.

"ETA is in several minutes."

As the dropship began to lurch forward, he turned to Dish again."I don't like this man."

Location: Fleetcom; drop ship

Objective: Get to planet side

The soldier began following the commander of the squadron, who was leading them to the hangar bay of the station to get a rode from a drop ship. Riley and his fellow squadmates boarded the drop ship and other Protectorate soldiers began boarding it as well. He followed the words of his commander and would try to obey those orders.

"What's the plan once we arrive on the planet, sir?" Was the only question that the soldier had for the commander. They would probably encounter a couple of hostile troops but there would be few due to the heavily fortified planet. He would await for the plan of the squad leader as the drip ship began exiting the hangar and heading towards the planet.

Ordo swung his beskad as the first boarder entered in search of the maf pilot. His eyes widened as he came face to face with the hulking Mandalorian war machine and raised his weapon to fire. A heavy left hand reached for the barrel and crushed it in a vicious grasp of a crushgaunt before the black beskad came down slitting the soldier from crown to crook before Ordo stepped past to meet the next. He could feel the man coming, he could sense him from a far and the hand of the force became apparent in this situation. This was not chance nor happenstance. Destiny was tangled in this day and Ordo would walk through the fires of fate to see the galaxy kneel.

He wasn't sure who it was attempting to break past his battle mediation, but he would have laughed in their face had he been able to. He had been in the presence of two of the greatest practitioners of battle meditation in their era, Spencer Jacobs and Je'gan Olra'en, both as an ally and as an adversary. He was no novice to the arts, nor was he harboring some delusion that the Dark Side's assault was a one-off thing. He knew what to expect and expertly reinforced his men at every turn. Whenever the sick taint of the Dark Side attempted to strike, he was there to push it aside. No fear would touch their minds, no doubt. They were held steady in their actions, both by the conviction in their hearts and Ayden's flame in their mind.

She, he knew it was a she, was attempting to harry his men while bolstering her own. Absurd. Had he been someone of Je'gan's caliber, or had not been walking to meet the Dark Lord of the Sith on his ship, Ayden would have broken her mind. He was singularly focused on protecting his men. She would never break through his guard so long as she attempted to divide her attention.

As it was, if there was any strain at all, it was lifted when a second source of Light erupted from the planet's surface. He smiled inwardly while he continued his march down to the hanger wing. It seemed as though the Queen was quite ready to defend her planet. If the Sith woman thought she could contend with the Corellian master, then she would be in for a very rude awakening now that his efforts were joined by a second master. They fed off each other's efforts, bolstering their respective fields. It was enough now that Ayden no long held doubts to his ability to face the Sith Lord. He might not have had the capacity to utilize the Force as he otherwise would have, but it was enough.

In space, the battle continued to rage. The Protectorate ships kept formation and volleyed at every ship in range. There was no wasted gun on a ship, their enemies numbers so vast. Fighters rolled and darted scant meters above their ships. Quad laser cannons fired relentlessly while turbolasers and ion cannons turned the weapons fire into a technicolor display that might have been beautiful had it not been an instrument of war and death.

The stations kept up their long-range barrage, with energy torpedoes volleying near continuously between Javelin firings. Streaks of blue sliced into the Confederate forces with incredible speed. Many found their marks to be the decrepit forms of old Subach ships. Still others found the Confederate ships. The Horn-class cruisers kept up their barrage while the the Belsars continued to lance fire at anything that got through that. Despite being outnumber, it seemed as if the Protectorate was doing good at keeping the Confederate forces at bay. Hardly any transports had made it to the surface, and those that did would find themselves woefully outnumbered. It seemed as if victory might have been within their grasp.

And then there was a explosion of light from the Confederate flagship. For a heartbeat it seemed as if the ship had been destroyed until the explosion began to shoot towards the Protectorate stations. The blast rapidly engulfed a single Uldyr station and two nearby Doaba stations. Inside, the lights flickered and died while all their weapons fell silent. They were dead in the water. Back up generators were being activated, restoring light support and some interior lights, but their sensors and weapons were dead. This left a hole in the Protectorate's defensive net. A Shield-class cruiser was caught in the blast and was similarly left defenseless

Meanwhile, Ayden stepped out of a lift and into the hanger wing. Almost the entire arm of the ship had been hollowed out and converted into a massive, massive hanger. The walls were lined with secondary hangers where the individual fighter squadrons were stored. Automated repulsor sleds traveled across the chasm to facilitate travel across the mega hanger. And somewhere in there, in some corner of the ship, a Sith Lord was waiting. "ORDO!" Ayden bellowed as he stepped up to the edge of the void and cried out again. "OR-DOOOO!"

The pulse was like a cerulean wave. In the vicinity of its blast wave, machines died. Fighters fell silent, drifting on whatever course they had been, the space stations that sent death and destruction outwards winked at them briefly before they to succumbed to the ion assault of the Jupitus' deadly trump card.

Already he saw transports break away for that hole in the line. Saw them streak toward it thinking thats where salvation lay but Norongachi knew better and keyed the frequency for all the troop ships. "Stay the course!" He yelled but some didn't listen, so sure that they could feel earth beneath their feet that much sooner if they entered Naboo there. A cruiser became an explosion, its reactor taking a hit and the whole ship becoming and all consuming inferno that scorched the side of its formation mate, which in turn sent that ship slamming into another.

The display was catastrophic, Norongachi shielded his eyes as the massive expulsion of energy brought light to the dark, only saving himself and those who followed in his wake by hastily plunging downwards away from the riotous fire that would have turned them to ash upon contact. Then they were there, the greeting of flak guns making whole swathes of space into death fields where many transports perished as their hulls were ripped asunder. The cruisers, having done their jobs and leading them this far resorted to back up orders and peeled off from the transports to slam head on into any OP ships or stations that lay in their path. Those transports that had survived, slammed into the atmosphere of Naboo. Fighters rode the wave with them breaking off to engage defenders and intercepting ordnance as it came. Even with their efforts a dozen more ships met their end above the lush landscape of the world.

"Prepare to drop!!" He screamed as the ship bucked and juddered.

The Transport swung through the anti-air fire just like the dozens of others. The One that Ilyena and He were on was nothing special, an old CIS dropship that had yet to be re-branded. He doubted that the thing would actually be able to make it back to space, though that wasn't his concern. As the ship swung above the swamps of Naboo, the ready light flashed green.

Rahvin looked to his sister, placing a re-breather in his hand.

“Its the flora that has me more interested, swamps after all.” The young man kept his face completely deadpan. It was difficult to tell whether he was actually being serious, or if he was joking. It was always difficult to tell.

The Hangar Bays of the transport opened, and Rahvin rushed out the door.

He jumped into the water without hesitation, the cold swamp rushing over him just as the rebreather shot a hit of oxygen into his lungs.

A deep sigh escaped her lips as her as she gazed into sky, admittedly zoned out. She'd sent one of the soldiers to retreieve someone for her, though she nearly had to strangle him before he gave into. This was no fault of his own, though. It had been so long since she had been anywhere near the group of banded space mercenaries. Had she made contact with her any of them? No. Had she spoken to them? No. Had she cleared out her apartment? No. As she tended to do, Ventasia had simply up and left, with not so much as a word to any of them, and hadn't been back since. Of course there would be new soldiers that wouldn't know who she was. After all, it wasn't like those that knew her spreading stories of her insanity in her absence. And that didn't bother her in the least.

Her arms crossed over her chest as she leaned back against the same model speeder bike that Corek had, she could only wonder what she was doing here. Or why, no matter how long she left, she always returned to the same crazed group that was moronic enough to accept her into their ranks. Well, at least she always had a place to hide when she screwed up..

Her squad had made it to edge of the swamp, it had been vicious fighting. Half the company where ether dead, injured or on the death door. Though the omega protectorate had not fared much better. They where being pushed back into the swamp, little by little. Freanne was always in support, taking down anyone who put the head up. To this point she had killed ten of their troops, her sniper riffle was proving it`s worth. Though she was hearing reports, that with out more ground troops. The attack would stall, so they had to find defensible positions. She did not want to spend hour in a swamp defending it, as that would lead to get cold and wet. That would sap the men strength as well.

So got her troops, and what left of the platoon to set up on the edge. Waiting for troops to arrive, before they make the next big push. Anything coming out that swamp, would meet a barge of sniper fire. It would be more than enough to keep at by, till support came to ether side.

Atmosphere

"Maybe. Yes." The Rattataki snapped as the shuttle screamed its way into Naboo's outer atmosphere. The bucking and shaking of the dropship wasn't making the onslaught of laser fire from below any easier to withstand. The shuttle dipped low; dangerously close to the shuttle [member="Salem Norongachi"] had taken the liberty of piloting when it bucked to a sharp right.

Flames licked from the right wing of the old dropship, and the piercing wails of the dropship's alarms drowned out any retort [member="Una Gal"] might have had. The sky was a beautiful myriad of vibrant colors; the Protectorate's anti-air cannons the brush that snuffed out the lives of ASA soldiers with each stroke. It would make for a lovely piece of artwork depicting the beauty of war when it was all over. Someone would create it, they always did.

For some reason, this thought was comforting for Gravesen even as the shuttle veered off course. It grazed the side of an ASA fighter and sent the smaller vessel tumbling toward the forests below. The shuttle jerked and roared its outrage as its metal skin was sheered off to reveal the wires and fuel tanks that made up its organs. The astromech whirred about as it did its best to keep the failing ship on course, and Gravesen quickly strapped himself into the sear.

"Strap in! Keep your heads back against the seat!" He yelled over the shrieking sirens. The ship leveled out toward Theed's walls, and the field laying before them. Altitude was quickly lost, and the old shuttle began to tumble down...down..down...

OBJECTIVE: Swamp like you mean it!

While Rahvin made little quips about flora over fauna, Ilyena fought with her rebreather. It was just a standard variety used to allow those who favoured oxygen to survive in the murky depths of the deep blue. Although in this case it was more of a grungy green.

Of course, luckily for her brother, once it was in her mouth there were to be no more snarky come backs for the time being. Only withering glares and glances. Her eyebrows furrowed at his last remark, saying everything her occupied mouth couldn't.

Ilyena's own plunge into the swamp was not as keen as her male counterpart, a hesitant step forward, a shake of the head and then a more graceful step off of the shuttle into the grimy deep.

Nobody likes that initially burst of cold, wet-suits or not. It's getting your head under that's the problem.

The young woman began to swim behind her brother, begrudgingly having to put a slice of effort to keep up with the stronger man's pace. Rahvin was so serious, so focused mind set on their task here rather than anything else that he often forgot that Ilyena was always there, trying to keep up.

Silly boy.

Objective: Determine a route towards Theed from downed Troop Transport
...his mind was buzzing, his memory was blurred. Plummetting out of the skies of Naboo had been unavoidable but the pilot of the Troop Transport had done his best in earnest hoping to save as many lives as he could in the ensuing crash. It hadn't helped much. The Troop Transport had fallen out of the sky barely controlled by its remaining engine as it spiraled in a circle and everyone onboard was thrown in all directions. At a glance from an outsiders view the ship looked like it was turning in circles as it fell, the bodies of men looked like ants as they flew out of the breach in the hull and then the ship finally hit rock bottom, skidding along the ground briefly a great gout of dirt was thrown into the air creating a massive cloud of dust that cascaded back down. A crater existed where the troop transport had fallen, it wasn't large but it was evident, hard to believe anyone could have survived...

...there were survivors though. Laith among them. Upon the initial impact of the crash everything went dark and then it came back with blurry vision and a ringing in the ears that was almost unbearable. Laith knew what was happening and the tinitis in his ears would subside. He woke up on his back looking at a broken power cable that was sparking across the remnants of the ceiling above his head. Elbows shifted behind him and he pushed up into a sitting position where he saw bodies and survivors around him...

...the survivors were in rough shape, most of the men that had lived were wounded, but they were better off than the dead men. Laith looked to the side and found the soldier who'd been shaking next to him; he wasn't shaking anymore as his broken body sat upright and motionless where a length of the metal hull had bent and ripped through his torso. Lucky was all the Mandalorian could think. At least it was quick. As the ringing in his ears started to subside Laith got back to his feet, slowly, using the walls of the transport to support him and found his Assault Rifle again, a CZ-836 Assault Rifle he'd had modified, before he started to make a more in depth scan of the area...

...he counted the survivors, maybe twenty men that he could tell, and started to organize them...
"Alright on your feet. We stay here and we'll be dead eventually. Listen to the laser fire outside!"...as the ringing subsided the screams and laser fire and explosions outside of the downed troop transport became more apparent. Now that he had the attention of some of the soldiers he took the time to utilize the one positive from this negative; the dead didn't need their equipment anymore...

...Laith already had an Assault Rifle and his Vibrosword now he added several grenades and some explosive ordnance to his equipment, there must have been a demolitions team onboard because he found some detonite amongst the dead, and outfitted for combat with extra ammunition and new toys he'd deem himself ready. Looking back at several men trying to form into a squad he'd have grunted via the comms in his helm...
"Your command has it all wrong. A direct assault on Theed isn't the way in. We need to work an angle."...no one wanted to die so the men with him were open to suggestions. Moving towards a breach in the downed transport Laith would use the durasteel frame as cover while taking a sweep of the outside watching as other ships, landing and already on the ground, began unloading their men and started towards Theed with harrowing results. He wasn't going to die on this world like the rest of them...

Invasions were always a pain. Whether above ground, underwater, or in the skies, it was difficult to organize troopers get things together, and move to the actual objective. There would always be enemy resistance, always be someone fighting against you. Luckily for Ravhin and Ilyena, they had taken the backdoor so to speak.

Otoh Gunga was nestled in an area of the Naboo swamps that was not easily accessible.

One had to swim and push their way to the city, something that was usually quite difficult to do without the aid of a guide. It helped if one had maps beforehand though. As the blonde man swam, his arms reaching out and pushing through the water he wondered about the rest of this invasion. Otoh Gunga was only one small piece, and they would already be facing heavy resistance here.

The main Abrion Systems Authority force would attack the city from the “Front”. The same went for Theed and the Palace.

This of course made an excellent opportunity for people like him and Ilyena. They would get into the city without attracting the notice of the Gungan and Protectorate defenders, or that was the hope anyway.

As he swam, Otoh Gunga slowly came into view.

Noah walked through the swamps and the small camps that the Pyre and ODF forces had set up in the swamps, allowing them to camp out to wait for the Feds to attack. Once he got to where his eyes narrowed as he saw the bane of his exsistence, Major Ventasia Terana. "Ventasia, you better have a pretty good reason for wanting to talk, I was actually about to do something important before you sent that private to find me. By the way, what did you say to him, he looked like he was halfway to poodooing his pants when he walked up to me." Noah told her as he pulled out a canteen full of water a took a swig, the humidity of the swamp getting to him a bit.

Her eyes blinked as the voice reached her ears, head leveling out. It brought a small grin to her face to see the one before her.

"Aww.. Corek. No hello? No hi? Not even a where have you been? I'm starting to wonder if you missed me at all.." Her head tilted to the side, a soft chuckle slipping through her lips as she stared him down, eyes trailing over his armor. She wondered why most weren't like her. What was wrong with going into battle looking like she did? She'd gotten hurt, sure, but it's not like she was ever close to death. Her arms uncrossed from her chest, pushing off from the speeder before sauntering toward him, arms swinging freely. "I been on Naboo for a while now... Don't even know why. As for your private.. I guess you guys haven't even mentioned me to them. Moron had no idea who I even was. So, I guess the better question is.." Her steps came to a stop just before him, reaching up and taking the canteen from his hands and lips, pulling it towards herself. "Why are you out here in this swamp? And just what is going around here?.." She raised the canteen to her own lips, turning it up and taking a few large gulps from it as she awaited the answers t her question.

Guess some things never change....

Ordo heard his name bellowed and knew the Protectorate's Champion was there. He smiled behind his helmet as he walked toward the boarding ramp and hit the palm pad to lower it. His beskad hung lazily at his side as the ramp slowly lowered. With the same relaxed manner he bent down and walked down the ramp to stand at the foot of the ramp looking toward the Corellian man. His off hand reached up and unclipped his cape of rank and let it fall to the ground with out a word. This was the fates that had called them to this, the manda that he followed was once more plunging him into the fires to burn away impurity and weakness.

"Come Ayden." He said looking at the man, "Come and break against the bastard son of manda'yaim."

With that Ordo started forward, and the air became electric with anticipation of the battle to come.

"Well, I'd say hello, but I'm afraid you'd disappear before I'd finish." Noah informed her, give her a small little insult to start, this was always how his and Ventasia's meetings went, a little back in forth insulting before actually getting down to business. Noah raised a eyebrow when just as he was about to take another sip, Ventasia snatched it from him, pulling out another canteen, he began to drink from that one instead. "Why am I out here in the swamp? Well that's easy to answer. To kill Feds, once those bastards break through the treeline, they'll have a hell of a surprise waiting." Noah told her, indicating all the tanks and speeders around. It was then a thought came to his mind, something he thought that Ventasia should know. "Ventasia, you should sit down for what I've got to tell you next." Noah informed her a bit eerily, she would know he was serious, since he rarely ever you used her first name when they were talking with each other.

They'd gone from one hell to another as the cloud line broke, dark shapes of transports and dropships filling the skies above Theed, the shimmering shield of the city below barring passage from the vital areas that they would have otherwise dropped into. AA guns and flak cannons in and around Theed greeted them lovingly with explosive shrapnel and laser fire. Fighters charged head of them, dancing with their Protectorate counterparts in complex, almost hypnotic displays.

Bombers, laden with deadly cargo, swept toward the swamps. Their sensors having detected a high concentration of electronics which were highly unusual in such a place, marked it as a possible Protectorate force outwith those in Theed. They swept across the treeline, bombs falling like rain that gouged great lines of fire across [member="Noah Corek"]'s forces, only to circle back and sweep in again with the same impunity. All the while fighters drew themselves closer to this center of action, covering the bombers as they made their runs and diving in to strafe the Protectorate forces who were so closely packed together and obviously constricted by the uneven boggy ground as well as the choking vegetation that it were almost like shooting armoured fish in a barrel. As soon as the bombers reported sightings of walkers and tanks that could assault the main ground force from the rear, more and more bombers were diverted from their attack runs on Theed. Soon the swamp was one long explosion, trees and rock vaporized by proton bombs that seemed to fall without end.

Norongachi saw this as he wove through the mesh of flak and laser, aiming for the assigned LZ, the transport vibrated and rippled with the stress from his maneuvers and then they took a hit. It was hard to say just what had hit them, there were so many choices out there in the skies above Naboo but the single engine they had left gave out in an explosion that pushed the ship downwards. Plummeting, trailing fire, Salem fought to keep them from heading into a spin and bring the nose back up for a crash landing. The ground was becoming an unwelcome, and rapidly approaching, sight in his cracked window. Slowly but surely he had them levelling out, just enough that the open field not far from the carcasses of other unlucky transports and those that had landed before the main force would be a soft target with few obstacles to shatter against.

He hoped...

Having done all he could, he moved swiftly back into the seating area and threw himself down next to [member="Anesia Jy'Vun"] before strapping himself in with the seats harness. He reached out with the Force, letting it transmute his will with creeping strands of power, strands that entwined and encircled this section of the ship, forming a second skin against the impact seconds away. He worked to strengthen the hull supports, layering them with telekinetic braces and affixing the strength he wielded in this field to the armoured plating of the ship binding them closer to their moorings.

He thought he was ready for the moment of impact.

He wasn't.

Vorhi grinned as she made her speech. Poised like a bloody sword as always. Still, the palace itself would be a madhouse. People scrambling, charging, shooting and defending. He felt something, though. An inkling in the force. Suppressed, but familiar. The blind oracle nodded calmly and approached the entry to the hall. "Prepare yourself. We are to be approached soon."

He cracked his knuckles and removed his outer robe, leaving a rather rough-spun vest and a faded pair of slacks with a worn rope belt, several random things hanging from small pouches. He removed his blindfold, revealing his ghastly sockets. There was no need for propriety now, so he wound the cloth around his left fist, and sash from his robe around his right.

He sighed. "Prepare yourselves. This will be interesting, to say the least...."
