"Right there!" The Jedi knight pointed, and thus pointed in another area "And right there!"

Kahne knelt down at the first spot as he glanced around the whole area then followed it out towards the point of exit and he raised his hand to his chin. The Jedi stood up and glanced at the other one for a few moments and drew a deep breath and exhaled slowly. "These tracks aren't similar to these over here." Kahne glanced back over towards the second set of prints that took off in another direction away from the first set. "Perhaps these civilians were taken, and not all of them were killed."

"You can catch another set of prints out this way." One of the fellow Jedi with Kahne had indicated. "They were being escorted."

Kahne nodded his head in agreement as he glanced back to the first set. "And these, children perhaps. We need to split up, you three follow those tracks, find out where they lead. If it turns out to be hostile, do not engage, send us word and we will come back to you asap. And well, vice versa. You two are with me." The Jedi Master said with a smirk on his face referring to other two Jedi remaining.

"Let's get moving."

With the overpass destroyed, Ugohr's mine detector ceased beeping. it would appear that the warlords controlling the defenses of the capital only mined the approaches to the city, and not so much the whole length of the highway as it pertains to the city. But the warlords were wary of an army making its approach thanks to hidden transmitters concealed within mines; within moments, the enemy forces split into two groups, just as the Army of Malastare split into two groups: one facing the Jawa's group and another, Ugohr's. But because it is mostly infantry in tow, their crawl is not much faster. All it means is that the tanks can now operate independently from the infantry. Because the minefield is now fully cleared, the infantry now has the liberty of taking the exits on each side of the highway. But the exits are in such poor condition that the tanks would not even dare use that particular exit.

"Fan out into da city, target only offensive units. Watch out: do not fire at Firemane or ATC units"

"General, an AT-AT has been spotted near the nearest exit"

"Tanks, concentrate yoursa firepower on da neck!"

The AT-AT is usually impractical to use in urban warfare, and Coruscant showed that. The One Sith deployed only 30 AT-AWs on Coruscant, worth two regiments of such units, and an additional AT-AT regiment: most AT-ATs on Coruscant were deployed away from the Financial District, though. But these warlords think that an imposing presence would cower civilians or rag-tag bands of in fear. But this AT-AT had saws embedded into its legs so that tow cables would be cut if the AT-AT moved while tow cables were fired, usually from an A-wing or a T-47. But, if an AT-AT is near, usually one could expect infantry, and Ugohr promptly returns to the confines of his tank, manning the main cannon while the flails retract and the tanks pick up speed.

"Aneya, reporter drones have been released. Currently flying over the whole territory to find the best locations," one of the civilian cam team members reported. Unlike on Coruscant, this time they had a person who was responsible for the work of the reporter drones. They wouldn't have really wanted to lose any of them, nor did they want them to send any poor material to the broadcasting ships.

"Very good," Aneya said as a reply. This job was not as fast-paced and unexpectable as the reclamation of Coruscant had been, meaning the woman would get to really enjoy the festival and not have to deal with a constant stream of reports.

The transportation ship responsible for moving civilian cam reporters between the ground and one of the broadcasting ships was moving in the radius of the main festival territory and not over the event itself, in order not to cause any noise or worsen the experience the visitors would have. Yes, the SCNN had actually thought about these things before they'd made it there.

The stealth ship, however, didn't have much of an use this time. It had proven really useful at the battlefield, but it was by no means going to be used that much at such a friendly event. Instead, it would serve as a backup for the transport ship, as well as to the sparrow drones.

Aneya took a sip of a cold drink. It tasted a lot like the typical lemonade she often drank on Bestine, but it had a subtle difference in taste. It was more fruity and had some very enjoyable berry flavour to it. Oh how she loved the festival foods sometimes. Now that she earned a lot every month, she could really go wild and buy as much as she wanted, not having to count money.

"Aneya, can you send Team S to take a look over the hotel we're going to stay in? I really want to know what it's like. They don't really have anything else to do anyway," Corina contacted Aneya via the comlink.

The editor-in-chief of Sullust Daily didn't really feel like using a whole ship for such a crazy thing, but she had to admit it really had not much else to do. So sending it to check out the hotel wouldn't really do them any damage.

"Sure."

"Indeed, wise are your words Master Imperieuse." Isha would reply, her large ears giving a slight twitch. At just a little over three feet, she was smaller than a youngling, so she had to crane her neck back to be able to meet the new arrival's eyes.

"A pleasure to meet, Lieutenant Salurra." Isha said, only to dip her head in greeting. "Padawan Isha is my name. Assist in any way, I shall." she added. With the Alliance ground troops at their side, they were sure to be secure in their undertaking.

"Has contact from Firemane arrived?" she asked, inquiring how they were to work with the Private Military company or if they were to continue on themselves.

Iestyn murmured something too softly to hear. He had almost drifted off into a content reverie. His skin tone had become slightly less bright, but the hue had shifted an amount that a human could not perceive. The subtle change was the equivalent of a lazy, content smile. It had been some time since he had been out in public with Veronika and felt so comfortable. That was, until he noticed several nearby guests watching them carefully. Even without his eyes on his mate his his stripes and mottling changed in time to her own from their empathic connection. This was clearly of interest to some who hadn't seen their species before.

"Aren't you afraid we might miss it?" he asked. "Though I could go for something. If you ask really nicely I might even dance. No promises," he quipped, skin changing to show mild amusement for a second. She had always been far more graceful than he, but he could be coaxed into dancing occasionally.

Charlyra did not think she was even speaking so fast, so she was a little stunned when Elpsis asked her to slow down! Slow down! The only time Charlyra ever rambled was when her brain was running on fumes, caffeine, lots of activity and her mind has had little time to rest, or eat something that people consider a meal. What? Caffeine doesn't qualify as a meal? Oops. "A-a Warlord, or two?" She asked and then slowly turned to look behind her. "You brought all of this, just for a Warlord... Or two."

Her eyes were bulging out of her skull (well just about anyway). Sanctimonious Jedi? "Do you mean the New Jedi Order? They're not all, sanctimonious." Okay, "okay so most of them are, but yes being nice is a very, very good thing." Then Elpsis was trying to explain what it is she had before her. "I'm sorry that's a wha?" Charlyra pointed to the animal, and then took a few steps back, "have I wha?" She asked trying to discern what it was that Elpsis was asking her.

Sleep? Sleep? "Um, well that's what the transports were for yeah? Sleep?" She slept on the transports, and eat? "Does caffeine qualify as a meal? I think I had a snack or two?" Liar. Warra nuts and juna berries eaten sporadically between Kessel, Morellia and Dahomey was probably not enough to constitute a full meal. When the creature growled, Lyra was ready to put her hand on her lightsabre but then it licked Elpsis' hand. "Dark lord, warlord, something, something darkside tainting the lovely landscape?" She gestured behind Elpsis and Tempest.

Then it hit her, Elpsis apologized about her sister. "Did you know I had a sister? What about you?" She asked her Master, "wait, no I should ask Mast- Mistress Kerrigan. Yes, yes, Jedi Shadow - she's gone rogue for some reason, why am I telling you this? Does this make me a terrible sibling? I just met her like... I just, I'm sorry why are there dark lords, erm, warlord here?"

“Master Quel-Droma, if we are agents of peace, why do we spend most of the day training with lightsabers? The crops need to be tended as well.” Standing around the flourishing garden, the young boy eyed the ripe fruit and vegetables around them. His attention not fully on the task at hand, mainly because he despised training with a lightsaber. If Jedi were peacemakers, why in the force were they working on combat instead of getting the crops together to help feed the temple? That short exhale, his Master’s only response brought his attention back to the man before him, and he could see that he had struck a nerve. The padawan’s grip on his training saber tightened, as he became distinctly aware that his master was lowering his guard.

“It’s simple Darron,” the ghost of a laugh could be heard in his words. “ Would you rather be a warrior standing in a garden, or a gardener standing in the middle of a war? We defend the galaxy, but to not prepare is to fail my Padawan. Now come at me.”

A scream destroyed the memory, and suddenly he wasn’t a boy standing in a garden anymore. No, the man standing on the outskirts of the village was much more than that. Gone was the apprehension to combat, Wraith loved it, life and the will of the Force had showed him that. Shoulder length hair whipped under the massive robes he wore to hide his presence, his Force signature adequately suppressed. The Galactic Alliance was moving on this world, and with it the New Jedi Order appeared as well. Loosely affiliated, the former GrandMaster had already been on world liberating villages, moving from the smaller settlements to the largest one he had found yet. This one wasn’t like the others, it was fortified fairly heavily and there were armed guards and snipers everywhere.

Hunching, and buried in a mountain of clothes to hide his imposing frame, the Jedi Master moved with the others as they were herded in like cattle. His gloved right hand pressed firmly against the lightsaber hilt of Mace Windu, he kept quiet even as he glanced around. Slavery was very real on this world, along with other forms of trafficking of the flesh. It was hard to not feel outrage, to not want to channel that righteous fury and crush everything around him. Get closer inside Darron, let them lower their guard before you end this. Every bone in his body ached for what was coming, even the wind was slowing, almost as if the planet could feel the storm that was coming.

This wasn’t a garden, but a warrior had appeared.

OOC: If anyone wants to hop in with me, or be opposition I'm perfectly fine to play it that way. If not, I'll just go PVE on this.

As the tanks in Ugohr's group fired at the neck of that "elite AT-AT", it took an entire volley of concentrated fire to take down the neck before the enemy AT-AT crew could even turn around to return fire. With its head falling into another highway exit, southbound, they are inadvertently preventing the tanks from acting in the city, leaving infantry to its own devices. Said infantry is fanning out into the city, with snipers taking up defensive positions in an attempt to shoot at those manning the defensive perimeter, or at any other enemy soldier, really. The Jedi Brute is on the lookout for any additional enemy forces coming their way, but is out of range of anything they can fire at: in a cityscape, tanks are reduced in their effective firing arcs unless one wanted to smash enemies firing from behind windows as they did during the early stages of Operation Blackout.

"Theysa used an elite AT-AT, but itsa crew isn't elite by any means: watch out for more stolen or used One Sith vehicles"

"These warlords appear to be supported by the One Sith, or at least the warlords holding the capital"

"Ring 4, 5 and 6, take da exit and fan out into da city, all-n-youse else, stay on da northbound lanes of da highway"

So Ugohr had three tanks patrol the city for mobile artillery. The enemy would think that most planetside enemies would simply use lightly armored vehicles at most, but what they didn't realize is that the Army of Malastare has been deployed on the planet to get rid of most warlords. And not only the Army of Malastare, but also other elements. Said elements were assigned to other areas of the planet, and act almost independently from one another. When they make their approach towards the main business district of the city, Ugohr's radar detects the presence of two pillboxes, intended to destroy light, unarmored speeders or infantry, manned by soldiers belonging to the same warlord that held much of the southern half of the capital, if not the entire capital itself.

"Duey enemy pillboxes: una on oursa left and una on oursa right: fire!"

“We should not be late if we return within an hour of my estimate.” Veronika replied, her fingers lightly drifting up and down his forearm. The tiny mottled spots of Iestyn skin seemed to react to her touch, giving off a small glow reminiscent to that of the bioluminescence of deep underwater fish. It was as much due to their bond as a way to express a positive spin to their emotional state.

The mention of dancing prompted a low rumble of a chuckle that began deep in Veronika’s belly and fluttered up to tickle her mate’s ear.

“Dancing?” now that was a thought. “Are you sure about that?” for one so normally a hold of her bearings with a quiet and cordial manner, Veronika’s lavender eyes seemed to sparkle with devilry. She could recall the first time Iestyn had danced with her.

Needless to say...the rather reserved Doctor had gone through a rather exhausting series of events to even manage to ask her to begin with….

“Have there been any updates on the local villages?” Saffron would ask. While the capital city had a measure of protection, those villages beyond within the arid desert did not have the same protection.

“We received a call for aid from the Saoha village about twenty-five klick from the capital.” her security officer told her. He gave a small wave of his hand and the holographic map would pan over towards the small village there.

“It is situated within this canyon, flanked by plateaus and mesas.” A frown drew over Saffron’s brow.

“I don’t see it.”

“They built their village within the stone of the canyon walls.”

Saffron’s eyes would widen then.

“They are amounted a bit of protection, but odds are with the smuggled sonic weapons by the warlord, they may not last long.”

Tempest watched her little birb chatter on. It was time to be stern.
“Lyra, you need to calm down.” She laid a hand on the girl’s shoulder. “You also need to take care of yourself and rest. You can’t just carry on with snacks, caf and no sleep. As soon as this mission is over you’re coming back to the villa and you’re going to recover and go on light duties for a few days. I need you to be at full capacity…I’ve had more than enough dealings with zombies to know I don’t want you as one!”
Time for the birb to be caged once more.
“I do want to discuss your sister too when we have time. It’s important we discuss everything. No secrets from each other.”

To Elpsis she watched in horror as the beast clawed her. Her hand reached for her gun again.
“Dark presence or no, we can’t have you attacked by it, Elpsis. We can get a pen for it to be in until things have settled down. Can you sense the location of this presence, and what it might be?”
She could feel an unease, certainly. However, she couldn’t pinpoint it to any one location.

“Looks like we can leave them to deal with the base. It should be simple enough to get it working again. I would like to take you to see some of my kin, Elpsis…and if we can discover the location of this presence stopping that too would be an advantage.”

"It's not his fault. He didn't mean it," Elpsis said a bit defensively, feeling rather protective of her new feline friend. Even though he happened to be a big lion who could easily bite her head off and tear her limbs apart. But he was peaceful now. Moreover, she could feel that the Cylix was afraid as well. He just did not know how to deal with. She petted the beast a bit more, helping calm him down a bit."Ok. Get a pen for him, but make sure he doesn't get hurt. And give him some meat. He's hungry. A trip sounds good. I'll try to trace it."

Trying to accede to Tempest's request, she closed her eyes for a moment, trying to concentrate. Her sight was a delicate ability and she was far from her master, but she tried to reach out with her senses and follow the disturbance. Images flashed through her mind, but they were a confused mess. It was as if she was trying to stare through a thick, dark fog.

"I cannot pinpoint...yet. Not from here. It's all a big haze. All I see is images of animals, dead bodies and a thick, black fog and shadows. Arsehole's probably blocking me from getting a better look. I'd have to be closer," she answered, sounding a bit apologetic.

She petted the Cylix some more, then got up and searched through her backpack. She finally found a burger and tossed it to Charlyra. "There, eat that. No starving yourself again. Or going all zombie. Neve won't be happy!"

Zombies? The Feth? Charlyra was absolutely fine, even if she felt physically weaker than usual. No, she was fine Charlyra told herself. Even if this was the very same recklessness she displayed during her last bouts as Jedi. When it all seemed to come crumbling down, but she was better now. She was going to be better than before, and while Elpsis concentrated on the dark force here on Dahomey. Charlyra received a visit from a very, familiar voice.

1420952355435.jpg

In the shadows you know I await you, Tabium hunts for you, my dear and I feel you so near, and so close. Do not deprive yourself my acolyte. I know you better than you know yourself, and I can tell you about your sisters, mhmmm. Did you think that you had just one? You foolish, foolish girl. No matter, I will train you, help you to see through the lies of others. We shall meet again, Charlyra. We shall meet again, soon.

Charlyra shook her head and looked up just in time to see food being tossed toward her. A bantha burger, and she looked at Elpsis for a moment and then with a nod. "Thanks." She didn't try to justify the whole 'starving' herself bit, admittedly one could live off the force, but that - that wasn't healthy and usually people just went a little crazy. "And yes, mother." She addressed her master with a quip, "when we get home I promise, I'll be a good girl." Her tone was playful, and then proceeded to inhale the bantha burger in about four bites, well five really.

"Neve's not happy with me period." Charlyra hadn't been home in awhile, "haven't exactly called her since I left for Kessel." There was a reason for that, not that the padawan wanted to get into it. And then Tempest mentioned something about taking Elpsis to meet the family. Considering how her Master sounded, Charlyra looked behind her and trudged toward the base. She figured a little more sleep might do her some good, and not have her in zombie-mode as it were.

Kyber nodded to each of the respective Jedi as they gave their name, trying to make sure to remember them for future reference. A padawan and Master though, hm? Must of been a training mission for the little female alien. With only a brief pause Kyber responded to the question posed by said alien; "I didn't know we had the support of a private agency on this mission. As a matter of fact, I don't know a lot about this mission. It seems too broad. I know we have to bring down the various Warlords and their men, but that's no easy task. How long does Command expect us to be down here uprooting gangs and slavers? We could be here for weeks, if not longer." with an audible breath -and just as audible of a sigh following it- Kyber continued on, "If they're really entrenched it could take months to root out the entire problem."

Kyber thought he was making sense, but he didn't know why he was talking to these Jedi about it. Orders were orders after all, and even with the promotion Kyber was given after the Invasion of Coruscant he was still nowhere near the rank needed to question an operation like this. Turning back towards the view port Kyber took a more inquisitive tone as he spoke once more; "What's your take of the current situation, Master Imperieuse? I'd enjoy hearing the opinion of someone who isn't a soldier."

While the pillbox was taking a pounding, Ugohr had strange readings in the Force coming from a mountain village about 25 kilometers away from the capital's city limits. If they were fast enough they could make it to the village in about 20 minutes. Clearly Ugohr was caught in a dilemma: he could have the tanks defend the capital, knowing that infantry will only slow his tanks down. But there is no telling whether airpower would truly be necessary? Would the mountain village actually be chock-full of anti-tank weaponry that is otherwise vulnerable to aircraft? Or to attacks at point-blank range? If the former, Ugohr is in deep trouble, if the latter, Ugohr's tank would have to do without him upon arrival. That is, provided there would be any anti-tank emplacements to begin with. What he knows about that place: nested deep in a canyon. Where's Bloodhawk Squadron when you need them? Ugohr thought, knowing that Rogue Squadron is not a unit that engages in air-to-ground missions regularly, while Bloodhawk Squadron was its air-to-ground counterpart, with [member="Silara Varis"] as its commanding officer.

"Mesa sense dat a village in da canyon issa under attack"

"What are your orders, sir?" the Jawa XO asked Ugohr over comm.

"All tanks, move to da coordinates mesa transmitten to yousa: infantry, stay in da capital"

"But, sir, what if we detect mines on the way around here?"

"Fly out of range from da flail unless wesa in firing range of da village! If wesa not fast enough, wesa not saven da village!"

Left to its own devices, the six infantry companies comprising the rest of the Army of Malastare patrolled the city almost endlessly in search of anti-infantry, anti-tank or anti-aircraft emplacements as well as any enemy soldiers defending them. But the tanks proceed east of the city, with the eastern and southern approaches to the city now being clear of mines; the Rings of the Lord would probably clear the other two minefields later. And Ugohr caught up to the Jawa's tanks while closing in on the village while the cityscape of Abomey was shrinking on the horizon...

It wasn't that much longer until they were on their way, following the tracks and stopping every now and again to make sure they were on the right trail. He wasn't sure how much longer the people taken would have, but it was imperative that they get there as soon as possible. He was aware that others were now on planet and were engaging as they could see fit. Kahne raised his hand a bit as they slowed up, soon coming to a halt. The Jedi disembarked as he moved ahead, the others following suit as they came to a cliff. The Jedi Master knelt down as he pointed out with his hand. "There they are..." Kahne whispered, it seemed they had stopped for the moment. They were being escorted on sail barges, cuffed together, skiffs on either side escorting them. "What do you think?"

"Well, we won't be able to take them with just us, the rest of us here should do the trick." Kahne said with a slight chuckled. Six was definitely better than three. The Jedi Master made contact with the others.

"What's the status on your end."

"Kahne, we found some children, well a lot of children. They are safe, but they could some spoiling."

The Jedi Master smirked slightly and took a deep breath. "Understood, get evac for them, and meet me at these coordinates, also procure a squad or two of alliance soldiers as well. We have a fight ahead of us."

"I don't know how long this mission could turn to be," Lilin started with her opinion on the matter. "I don't see the future. But what I do know is that we'll fight until the innocent are no longer threatened. That must be our main goal and that must be why we are going to the planet. No more, no less."

She took a short break, looking at both Isha and Kyber. Her knowledge about the mission's orders and so on were lacking -- she was not such a high ranking person to know about the inner workings of the commanders and marshalls above. So she didn't really know how long they would be there, when they would return, when they could consider the mission done, etc.

"I am not a strategist, I am a Guardian," she added, kind of as an apology to why she couldn't tell the man much. "But may the Force be with us and grant us a short painless mission."

The Jedi Master had started to mature really fast. She couldn't remember talking about such matters in such a manner before reaching the rank of Master. And even during her first months at such a position, she wasn't too wise. Now, everything was starting to change and she could finally see how Masters really saw the world and the surrounding.

"Isha?" she asked from the Padawan. They were getting quite close to going on the planet now, she could both see it with her eyes and feel it inside her, despite her Force Sense powers being really poor. "Anything to add?" She cared about the thoughts of a Padawan much. They could often teach Masters more than Masters themselves could teach to a Padawan. And that was just the way things went -- a teacher learned a lot from a student, even if it was not their own student.

Iestyn turned back towards her, a small smile on his lips. It wasn't a Lovalla gesture, but they had lived amongst humans for so long that it was impossible not to pick up some gestures. He often infuriated his staff and colleagues by failing to read and understand their facial expressions and body language. Smiles he got, and laughter. Though he still struggled to tell the difference between different types of laughter.

But then humans didn't have the colour sensitivity to tell the difference between all the subtleties in his own body language, which played out as coloured patterns across his skin, even if they did memorise all the possible combinations. That would be a task in its own right. It was well documented, but their research team enjoyed the game of trying to work it out on their own.

Iestyn twisted around in her arms enough to look up at her his stripes turned a shape of sky blue as silver mottles rippled across him.

“No, so you should take advantage of the offer whilst it's there,” he said.

“Well that won’t do at all, Lyra. You need to keep your girlfriend happy!” she said, glancing at Elpsis.
It worked on the ‘happy wife, happy life’ principle.

As the Cylix was led away Tempest nodded. “They’ll treat him well. Hunter used to train these things didn’t you?”
“Yes, ma’am, until one nearly bit off my hand,” he said with a wide grin.
“And now you work at Firemane. I’m not sure which one has more danger.”
“Is that a trick question, ma’am?” he asked innocently.
Tempest had to hide a laugh. “Probably.”

However, it was then that Elpsis had her vision. Tempest went to her, frowned.
“OK, well I’ll take you to my village near here. It’s unlikely whoever this is would be operating here so close to the city. We’ll see if you can get a better read on them there. Would you like to see where I grew up?” she asked eagerly.

With common agreement they swiftly set off in a speeder.

It was a travelling time of at least half an hour over the veldt and savannah until they came to a village set beside a river. As they approached armed guards called to them, and Tempest replied in Dahomian.

Finally, they were allowed past. “They say we can go in but, ahem, you need to stay with me. The term ‘white devil’ came up.”

Elpsis could not know that a malevolent Sith Lord was sending Charlyra messages in her head. However, she could sense that something was...off about the older woman, for her empathic senses flared up. Not off in a bad way, but more like that she really needed help.

"Think there's something wrong with Lyra. You better talk to her," she said quietly to her girlfriend before they boarded the speeder. In the meantime, Firemane labourer droids and engineers worked on reconstructing the base. Firemane soldiers were dispatched to assist the Alliance in securing control and taking out the warlord remnants. The trip across the veldt and savannah took quite a while, but gave the three ladies a breathtaking view. A canopy with wide, open grasslands that seemed to never end, dotted with trees, and exotic wildlife. The dark sensation was growing stronger, giving her a bit of an headache as they swept over the plains.

Eventually they reached a small village that lay besides a river and was surrounded by wooden walls and largely composed of wood huts. As they approached, Elpsis could feel suspicion and in some cases outright revulsion emanating from the guards. To be fair, they could not be blamed since many of the Dahomians' experiences with outsiders had gone so poorly. Many had either come as slavers, or just to exploit the planet's resources. Fortunately, she'd gotten better at blotting out others' thoughts thanks to Laina's training.
