Senate Meeting This is occurring during the invasion. It is to discuss the events surrounding the attempts to seize non- Republic corporate assets in Roche. The meeting will not affect the events nor outcome of the invasion itself. It is provided as an avenue of RP for those who write a Senate character. Tag me if you would like to be added here.
Why not write this in a--gee, I don't know--separate thread, and not clutter up the invasion any more than it has to be?

[member="Sannika Brynn"]

It ain't like you can't just skim through the posts like one would with any that are not specific towards them at any other location!

Some folk like to not have to pvp and join an invasion -- this allows Senators who have chars to do so and try it for the first time.

I had senators already say they like the idea -- let people RP Sannika.. LET THEM RP!

Mere hours had passed since

Rygel Larraq groaned awake from his hangover long enough to listen to the voices of concern that whispered in his ear.

The Republic, copying from the One Sith's playbook, had begun seizing corporate assets from the likes of ATC and Tenloss. Closing his eyes and leaning his head back upon the floor that he was, apparently, sleeping upon, Larraq issued a short and simple order. "Extract the dozen Ja'haatir Ewar Frigates that we had on loan to the Republic. Send [member="Naast'ika Laaran"], a few squadrons of Rekali-class Space Superiority Fighters, and whatever else is needed to get the ships safely back to Mandalorian Territories."

The ships had been on loan to the Republic for quite a while now, as part of an arrangement he had made with the previous Supreme Chancellor, [member="Popo"]. He had been perfectly happy to leave the top of the line Electronic Warfare Frigates in the hands of the Republic in exchange for unrestricted mining rights to Roche, as per the agreement he had made with Popo. But he had no intention of allowing some trumped up Republic Politician to put his assets at risk in a desperate act of idiocy.

Unfortunately for the Republic, however, the Mandalorian Clans had lost their supply of Phrik when they lost Wayland to the Primeval. Which made Larraq's contract with the Republic the sole provider of Phrik for the entire Mandalorian people. "Contact the Alor Council and my sister." Larraq ordered as he begrudgingly opened his eyes and stared into the florescent ceiling. "Tell them our mining rights at Roche are at risk. Hyperion Security and Clan Dem'adas Navy will be moving in to secure our assets from Republic aggression. If the Republic drops a fleet on Roche, we move on the system."

Location: Nickel One

Objective: Communicate with Mandalorian leadership

Ali glanced at the holographic display as Mandalorian vessels began landing within Nickel One and disgorging troops. The Republic fleet had arrived the day before to drop off Ali and the rest of the ground forces in defense of Roche after whispers of movement from within the Mandalorian government and military had reached her ears earlier that week. The Mandalorians hadn't taken too kindly to Genevieve Lasedri's attempts to nationalize a swath of Republic-aligned corporations, and it seemed they had arrived to secure their phrik supply. Ali hoped to meet or at least speak with Mandalorian leadership in order to assure them their supplies were not in danger of being disrupted, and that the Republic would honor the contracts previously made with Supreme Chancellor Popo as they had been written.
Ali stood with the Verpine government leadership with Nickel One, waiting for the Mandalorian fleet to make their approach. If the Mando'ade insisted on hostilities, Ali's fleets were hidden out of sight and sensor within the asteroids of the field itself, and their armies had taken up defensive residence within the tunnels and hallways. The station's own defenses were prepared for use if necessary. Ali hoped it wasn't. Along the surface of many asteroids, including Nickel One, anti-aircraft turrets, artillery cannons for attacking warships, and even Republic MAT-TE walkers were clustered in the vacuum of space, awaiting the possibility of conflict. All was silent, all were hidden. For now.

Ali identified and marked the lead Mandalorian warship as it came into comms range, targeting the vessel on open channels. The Supreme Commander wasn't sure if she ought to introduce herself by name and title. If it were known the Galactic Republic's highest military leader was present in the system, it would certainly tip the Mandalorians off that they were prepared for the invasion. Ali preferred to keep them on their toes and remain unaware of the armies awaiting them unless absolutely necessary. She signaled the Verpine representative over to her side. "Introduce yourself and ask them what they need." Ali instructed the lanky Verpine, who chittered their response. Ali nodded and stepped out of the way, giving the comm over to the Verpine. Their verbal expression of Basic was filled with many intermittent clicks and chitters as they activated the mic and spoke. ::Mandalorian leadership, this is Kol'k Ota, a foreign representative to the Verpine people. We have detected a rather large and militarized presence in the system and within Nickel One. We are curious what your needs might be.::
Ota leaned away from the terminal as they awaited a response. Ali kept her eyes on the starfleet that had entered their space and glanced back at the positions of their own hidden ships. Come on...she thought to herself. War with the Mandalorians would end poorly for both civilizations. Answer, she silently begged. Don't let this go any further.

The timeline for this invasion is less than 24 hour after Genevieve Lasedri attempted her assault on corporate assets. You would not have been able to move a fleet into position yesterday, as yesterday would have been before Gene attempted her cue. Also, unless a specific defense is already developed, submitted, and approved through the factory or codex, it will not be involved in the naval combat or elsewhere. This was a key point of the invasion discussions. The only pre-existing Republic defense approved by the Mandalorian Negotiators for inclusion in this thread is The Central Hub and the handful of forces Typically held within this location.

Story:
The Republic was informed by a loyalist. The fleets are already in place, comms have been hailed and the tension reached its climax ten minutes ago. Ships are being sent in, some have already (just about) landed in a few bases such as Nickel One and 'The Hub.' While this may seem implausible, this is also mainly implemented for the sake of having a convenient way for the Ground Forces to actually be able to write something from the get-go.

Mandalorians and Republic personnel start battling both inside and outside of the asteroid belt and not long after that it became obvious that [victor] has enough troops to make the final push. They do just that and they win the day.

Also, a bit of clarification for the Republic team, as it was suddenly made aware to me that more than one writer would be handling the naval combat on the Republic side; the limit is 20,000 meters of starships total for the Mandalorian side and 20,000 meters of starships total for the Republic side. So, if there were four of you, you'd each be working with 5,000 meters or less.

Just figured I'd toss out that FYI before something popped up.

Btw, my fleet list has been written down since the 6th. I was going to wait until the Republic fleeter dropped his list before I shared mine with the other side (to prevent any accusation of metagaming). 3/4ths of the Mando admin team, a current FJ, a former FJ, and a former Factory Admin have all seen a copy of my fleet list. I've also got it written down in a PM chain. So, if anyone from the other side wants proof that I had my list prepared ahead of time, I can add an RPJ to that PM as needed.

[member="Sannika Brynn"] It will not affect the invasion itself. There is no need to respond to those posts. SO, I don't see it as a problem. it's not even ON Nickel One. The reason why its part of this thread is to get the politicians RP chance, and for them to discuss the events leading up to and those that caused the invasion.

Please note, this was not an arbitrary decision on my own, it was supported by the GR admin team. Relax and have fun. If it doesn't affect your character, why get upset?

Psssst... You can't find someone by looking for a void in the Force inside a void in the Force. Space is vast and very empty, even in an asteroid field. All good be able to detect us am empy space inside and empty space. Only when that empty space starts overlapping on things you can feel in the Force would you be able to start following - maybe - that bubble. You'd be able to spot my hyperspace sig, but that's about it :p hope that helps.

Also, I promise I know how to spell. Autocorrect is a pain lol

Juwiela's writer here. I'm writing up a post and was too lazy to switch accounts. Sue me. :p

The way I see it (I apologize for that slightly intentional pun) is that while she might not be able to see, per se, the void in the Force, she'd be able to detect something being off because ysalamir repel the Force, and part of her "sight" (and Sense) is reaching out into the surrounding area via the Force to detect any anomalies. I think she'd run into a figurative wall, or what have you, that is entirely resistant or otherwise negates that energy and know something was up.

Forgive me if none of that quite makes sense, it's a very abstract concept to put into words.

Nah, I got you. I write a miraluka as well. Thing is, not much out there to make a pocket of null force really visible. Up close or maybe if I were in a formation, sure, but I'm off on my own so... Not much to go off of there.

That said, someone mentioned that it might be able to feel the edges of the bubble, but he hasn't found any evidence of it yet. At the same time, another mentioned it was only feasible to sense something entering/exiting a bubble.

I'm easy for whatever, just keep in mind whatever happens, even if you can "see" me, targeting with my stealth up is impossible and using the Force to line up shots is unreliable at best :p

Oh no, she definitely wouldn't be able to detect your exact location or anything like that. Her "sight", in this instance, is basically an early warning alarm system. Any shots she makes will be guesstimations, not to worry. The intention wasn't to use it for anything beyond noticing something's up in order to prepare for a bigger fight and some fireworks.

There will be four of us fleeting, but yes, we're splitting up that 20,000 meters between the 4 of us. I personally have 6 km of that fleet.

Just as a "trust and verify" concept, when we've posted our forces in the thread, I'd like to glance at that PM chain.

No its ok we trust you. We will each drop our fleet lists when we all enter the theater. Our fleet is split up between our 4 writers and will not exceed 20,000 meters.

Please do your best to resolve disputes among yourselves. Consult a Faction Admin as necessary. RPJ intervention will be a last resort option.

To further expand on this... if you a member or Ally of the Republic, consult a Galactic Republic FA. Consult with a Mandalorian FA if you are a Mandalorian or Mandalorian Ally. Please do not PM a member of the opposing faction staff before consulting with your writing partners and an Admin from your faction.

Have fun! :)

I went ahead and added Gir to the PM chain so he can look it over.

I'm not entirely sure what's going on on your end with the Fleeting. Ali's post claimed to have an entire fleet or multiple fleets hidden among the Roche asteroids, and Ali's attempt at communication (since it came directly from Nickel One, and not from one of the ships that Larraq could detect thanks to active scanning), Larraq's response was... to further hinder the split up and hidden ships that the Republic has around the system.

But now I've been informed that Ali is not in fact fleeting and that... either her fleet/ships are not included in the 20,000 meter ship limit and shouldn't be mentioned (which would mean that I'd have to go back and edit my post), or she just forced the republic's fleeting team into a very bad situation.

As it is... Due to Ali's actions, there's no way for Larraq to currently receive Gir's attempt at peaceful communications.
