Invasion of Roche OOC [GR vs Mandos]

[member=Gir Quee]
[member=Captain Larraq]

As I told you in our PM, I added the mention to foreshadow the presence of the fleets. I was told we would be starting off in the system, so the timeline and however they wanted to show up was up to them. But I posted first for our faction, so I added that.

There's really no need for discussion, I already ensured that my involvement was strictly on a one versus one basis and anything extra I added was just for narrative background.

That is fine with me, thank you for communicating with me about it. With a three week invasion, two weeks is plenty of time for us! I'll have Ali bum around in the meantime and have fun with some NPC's. Best wishes to your other threads!

My guys cleared up the issue with me on our side, so I altered the post to reflect that they would be arriving soon, rather than already being here.

However, the issue of the communication is unclear to me. Ali is the Republic's Supreme Commander, with her present, she would be handling communications between Mandalorian military leadership. If you don't want to acknowledge the communique, that's fine, but it is perfectly consistent with the narrative from my point of view.

Cheers and beers, now let's fight.

If you really want to try and handle negotiations from Nickel One, that's fine. But that just confirms the Mandalorian viewpoint that the Republic (Gene or otherwise) was going to make a move to secure Roche and nationalize all assets. It's a self fulfilling prophecy. By already being on Nickel One, Larraq just assumes the worst and moves on with full wartime conditions. Had the Republic fleet shown up at roughly the same time as him and attempted to hail him, the response would be different. As he'd consider that an open and honest attempt at communication, instead of a ruse. With so many defenses being set up, even without the ships hiding in the asteroid field, Larraq would know that something was up. Had Ali communicated with Larraq honestly, he may have spoken with her a bit. But getting the local to speak up first, while up-arming the defenses of the system, just tells Larraq that you are attempting to tighten the Republic's military control on a system that has predominantly been ignored by the Republic. Hell, I remember a thread where Preliat, a Mandalorian, was the only person to show up to kick out a Sith that was attempting to mine in the Republic/Mandalorian joint controlled Roche asteroids...

All the same. The defenses you are listing violate the agreements made by the Republic and Mandalorian admin teams in regards to the Republic defenses in the system. You can edit them out or leave them there. Either way, I'll still have to adjust my post. But they do have an impact on the flow of the thread, regardless of if they get used in combat or not.

I think, both sides are approaching this from their own little RP corner. Both sides will be able to pull out IC threads from the past stating things (correct or not).
Terms state that
  • The Republic may spawn within the Asteroid Field bases from the start, but for the sake of storytelling it would be preferred that they at least write a post about arriving there first.

There is nothing wrong with having folks in place but naturally the Mandalorians may choose to consider that an act of aggression. No worries.

While it most certainly would be better for the republic to have the Mandos as friends rather then enemies and there would be home baked cookies for everyone if there was a peaceful solution to the invasion I think we all know that's unlikely to happen. To try and go for it ic wise should however be totally fine me thinks.

That said, IC wise - its free to interpret stuff and everyone can say things as they see fit , republic is evil, the mandalorians are good or vice verse.
So maybe everyone should just point to their opponent and go:

"You are wrong! You are heavily indoctrinated by Mando/Republic propaganda!"

And then you shoot each other and go forward with the invasion...

Unless... you cant resist the cookie idea?

Peace cookie! For Everyone!

No?

Please be sure to use the appropriate post header. Please tag location, direct opponents, direct allies at the very least - based on the pvp pairings. Post headers can be found in the very first post in this thread

If you want to jump right into it, Draco is already moving an infantry push. *stares at Draco*

If you want, you can hop off of the dropship/transport he was on and hang out with him for pewpew.

[member="Weiss"] from what I understand they would just be background noise fighting your background noise.
The idea is that we clash with an approximately equal amount on both sides. That can be zero NPC or a much larger unit.

If you are solo I think [member="Valkren Calderon"] might be a good match. If he is interested. We have chatted about working together but that would not be fair against you. I can however provide Rp fluff/deployment for Jaccer to go and defend some location that you are attacking or so...?
Since its the first invasion for both of you I would also recomend that you found a place for the two of you to tango without having to worry that others crashes your party. Because that happens if its not obvious that you are on an isolated spot. And its a drag for everyone when you have just started to get something moving.

I think the Central hub is a location better suited for that.
[member="Sofia Annesley"] and [member="Lord Gaius"] are the only ones there so far and they too are one vs one (I think?)

Just suggestions though.

I can already tell that this is going to be the type of story I very much enjoy and am glad that we are facing off. This will be very interesting, I think.

I will get you a post this evening after work.

I went ahead and added Gir to the PM chain so he can look it over.

But now I've been informed that Ali is not in fact fleeting and that... either her fleet/ships are not included in the 20,000 meter ship limit and shouldn't be mentioned (which would mean that I'd have to go back and edit my post), or she just forced the republic's fleeting team into a very bad situation.

As it is... Due to Ali's actions, there's no way for Larraq to currently receive Gir's attempt at peaceful communications.
From where I'm standing, this situation seems to have been resolved. If any member does not feel that it has been properly resolved, let me know. I think it's likely that there will be some "stepped-on toes" in regards to the plot from time to time; I think that's part of the nature of running something so big as quickly as we have.

Larraq, it would IC Gir's luck that he'd have terrible timing for communications. Feel free to ignore my character's call...it's one of those things where I was writing my IC post during the time that you were as well, and I didn't realize that until after I posted it. Feel free to ignore Gir's call.
