OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To codify Enyo's gang, which will provide the basis for future roleplaying threads and Codex subs. ICly, it is part of a new story arc for her after she escaped the control of her mechanical masters.
  • Image Credit: Here. Badge of the Imperial Fists in Warhammer 40k by Games Workshop. Original Artist unknown.
  • Role: Mafia, criminal organisation.
  • Links: Enyo Typhos, Malice and Maladi.

GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Group Name: Iron Fist Consortium
  • Classification: Crime Organisation
  • Headquarters: Coruscant
  • Loyalties: Enyo Typhos
  • Group Sigil: The official symbol is a massive metal gauntlet making a fist - the veritable iron fist. Many members wear it as a tattoo. Some thugs take the logo very literally by replacing one of their organic hands with a cybernetic one.
  • Description: The Iron Fist is a criminal gang that operates out of the lower levels of Coruscant. It was founded by Enyo Typhos via 'hostile takeovers' of minor gangs to provide her with a source of funds and minions. They have their hand in criminal activities such as raids, fencing, drug dealing and gun smuggling rackets. In addition, they can be hired as muscle by other crime bosses or corporate bigwigs, in case they have need of a hired gun or infiltrator. Compared to galaxy-spanning networks such as the Exchange or the old Hutt Cartel, the group is very small, but has room for growth. Assuming its cold, capricious leader is able to maintain control.

SOCIAL INFORMATION
  • Hierarchy: Enyo Typhos stands at the top of the pyramid as the boss of the Consortium. Beneath her she has what can be considered a personal staff and, most importantly, a reprogrammed HRD called Wes. The replicant handles many of the day-to-day affairs and bureaucratic minutiae that Enyo either does not have the time or the interest to deal with. Furthermore, it's his job to keep order while she's away. Beneath these two are the various gang bosses, who each oversee a district. They are unaware that their boss' lieutenant is a machine. Being more than a little paranoid, Enyo has set up her own network of informers and is not shy about 'making an example' of lieutenants who failed her.
  • Membership: Initiates get recruited from inside their 'territory' and have to prove themselves. In effect, the Consortium operates on a 'blood in, blood out' rule, where you have to shed blood to get into the gang and then you only leave when you die. In racial terms, the Consortium features a high proportion of aliens. A number of members are drawn from the impoverished or from the ranks of ex-soldiers who could not adjust to civilian life after the Sith War ended and fell on hard times. Those who join the inner circle get a hand cut off and receive a mechanical prothesis in return.
  • Dogma/Doctrines: The Iron Fist is loyal only to itself. Its members cannot be considered to be friendly neighbourhood gangsters who 'protect the innocent' and just happen to be criminals...who never do anything one normally associates with criminal activities. That said, internally the group is governed by a strict set of laws. Loyalty to the group is a key principle. Their code of honour includes the time and tested principles of omerta and vendetta. Diligence and efficiency are rewarded, while those who betray the gang can look forward to a most unpleasant fate, because their boss is a rather amoral machine-woman, who punishes disobedience with mutilation - and in serious cases with execution. The Iron Fist performs a policing function in the areas it has influence over because it would reflect badly on the boss if people in 'her' bailiwick were terrorised on the streets by a rival gang. Of course, it is only natural that the grateful inhabitants show their gratitude by paying protection money. The Iron Fist dislikes 'unnecessary' damage to bystanders because it is seen as unprofessional and causes too much attention, but in the end they're a gang of deplorables with blood on their hands. They want to make a profit, operating out of pragmatic villainy rather than concern for their fellow sentient beings. To put it plainly, it is bad policy to make a mess where you eat. Iron Fist prizes strength - especially martial strength - which influences its dealings with other gangs. Promotion within the Iron Fist is based on merit and loot is shared, with members receiving bonuses for especially good performance.
  • Curios: As mentioned above, tattoos displaying a stylised iron fist are quite common in the gang. The same applies to cybernetic limbs and implants, which verge from very crude to sophisticated. Only full members receive the tattoo, after having proved themselves. At inner circle level, a literal iron fist is mandatory. On a more grisly note, one might here and there also encounter gang members who have suffered mutilations, losing a piece of themselves as punishment. Branding is another form of punishment.
  • Goals: Profit, expansion and so on. For Enyo, the group is mainly a means to an end, as part of her private war against Archangel to topple her creators and make them pay for tormenting her. That said, she's come to enjoy being 'the boss'.

MEMBERS
Enyo Typhos - Boss.
Wes - NPC HRD lieutenant.
Amara Zarides - Token Good Teammate.
Ylva Wolfsbane - one of the Boss' legbreakers.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

From the moment she first breathed air, Enyo Typhos' life was that of a weapon in the service of others. She was intended to be a pawn, a weapon of the Force, even before she was born. Archangel Research and Design, secretly a cult of genocidal HRDs, created her and her clone 'siblings' as pawns to further their agenda of eradicating all organic life. Eventually, Enyo was able to break free from their control with the help of her sister Amara Zarides.

Once she escaped the clutches of her tormentors, she found herself a facing a number of issues. For one, she was without coin, an ID, employment or life experience beyond in the art of violence. Moreover, Archangel would be determined to either capture or kill her and Amara. Furthermore, she knew that Archangel still had other clones under its control, which gave her another reason to want to launch a private war against them. Besides, she wanted revenge for all the torment they'd inflicted upon her.

For this she needed funds and minions. Predictably, she decided to acquire these in an illegal manner. Though she'd rebelled against her creators and their plans, their indoctrination had left its mark, leaving her a rather amoral woman with a grim, cynical outlook of the Galaxy. So she decided to set up her own gang.

The lower levels of Coruscant had always been populated by the dregs of society, the poor, the underprivileged and the criminal scum. Moreover, the 'Jewel of the Core' had suffered greatly during the Republic-Sith War. Through force of personality, intimidation and literal force, Enyo and her companions were able to bring a number of the smaller gangs under their control. To start with, she interrupted an illegal artefact trade by crashing the party with the help of Amara and a Kar'zun warrior called Zar'kahn, who sought to reclaim ancient heirlooms of his people.

After inflicting plenty of violence on a number of thugs, she informed the suitably cowed survivors that they worked for her now. This was probably preferrable to being shot or handed over to the local constabulary. Obviously it took some time until they properly acknowledged her authority and did not stab her in the back or desert the moment she turned around. A raid on the laboratory of a corporation called SYI ended unexpectedly when the director not only bought her off, but decided to sponsor her for his own proxy war against Archangel, a business rival. Enyo saw no reason to tell the closeted Dark Jedi that she intended to take over - and dispose of him once he was no longer needed. Doubtless he had his own plans though.

Regardless, she put the fresh funds she'd acquired to good use, utilising them to expand her power base inside the slums of Lower Coruscant, carving out her own 'territory'. Needless to say no hostile takeover is ever smooth and this one was accompanied by purge that left her with a reduced number of minions, but ensured she would be in control. Many members of the gang of deplorables were drawn from the poor of Lower Coruscant. Others were ex-soldiers who could not adjust to civilian life, especially former One Sith grunts. Enyo preferred to assimilate rival gangs rather than exterminate them outright. The group gained some renown by hunting Chthon that menaced communities in the lower levels. Naturally, this was useful when it came to extracting fees. Furthermore, it carved out its own niche on the market for drugs, arms and valuables. The risky, but lucrative hunt for Taozin in Coruscan't s depths has been another one of the group's business ventures.

Enyo is a harsh, often cruel leader who operates on the principle that 'it is better to be feared rather than loved'. To put it plainly, she does not particularly care if her minions like her, as long as they obey. But the group she set up is more disciplined and focused than the average street gang, which has attracted those who seek and some direction in their life - and are perfectly fine with getting blood on their hands. Moreover, she managed to reprogramme an HRD Archangel sent after her, giving her a relatively reliable lieutenant. He keeps order when the boss is away, which is usually when she is launching attacks on Archangel or handling other assignments. Presently, the Consortium operates out of an abandoned factory area in Coruscant's lower levels, which is convenient for smuggling and fencing goods. In terms of organisational structure, the Consortium can be understood as a pyramid, with Enyo on top, then the inner circle and gang bosses and finally the common grunts who do most of the legwork.
