Jedi Order Direction

Forced or not. I don't understand the necessity here. If someone can explain that to me I might very well go along with it, but I'm not much getting it at the moment. Also, I don't understand why we can't have the Academy and still be, as a whole, with the Republic.

Obviously I'm not saying everyone should have to stay with the republic, but I don't understand why were pulling away from them either. This all seems like a muddled mess to me and from what I can see its just going to cause problems with communication and new arrivals. People are going to come to the Republic expecting Jedi and not know what to think when they don't find them there. Then when they move over to the Academy, if that happens at all, they're going to feel disconnected from the Rebellion and not know who to support. We may as well start a Jedi Order major faction if we're going to go through all this trouble.

I'm not against change, but when it's lacking in reasoning and ends up blindsiding me because only two or three people knew about it, I have a problem with it.
I think I can - We still will be the Republic.

The idea will be, if I'm correct in assuming the conjoined median is - training can be, will be, whatever - moved to the Jedi Academy to create a movement of cohesion. Train there with the option to continue to train in the Republic forums.

We will still maintain a presence here - through Missions, Invasions, Dominions, NFU/FU activity - ect.

I guess.

I could be all wrong about the median but yeah.

This just seems like so much trouble for next to no improvement...
I think there will be improvement - I honestly think we have to atleast give it a shot.

What is the worst that can happen? I mean if you go back and look at the Republic as it has been and where we are now...we're ultimately stagnated and barely maintaining.

Change can be a good thing if approached right.

Come on, we'll try it together.

I can't believe I'm saying this But I actually agree with your break down. (not my intention if that seemed mean, rude or bait/poison but simply being honest)

Train in the academy which will help paddies(like me still) who clicks 6 different forums before finding the right one, but keep Invasions and Dominions with GR. Since purposely seeking a fight would be against the jedi code, GR would probably initiate the Invasions and Dominions anyway. Missions however if they don't necessarily involve the Republic would probably be best kept in the academy as well.

As far as being a member of the academy over the Republic, where does it say there can't be duel-citizenship so to speak? We have Mandolorians in the Republic after all. :)

I'm all for maintaining a presence in the Republic but this semi split also will give the jedi a longer reach to help more than JUST the Republic space.

I think it's also so we can maintain leadership and our own hierarchy instead of abandoning it all together as well.

The JA does not have leadership, just Housemasters who run their own respective camps.

*shrugs*

So yeah, glad you can agree with me. No offense or anything taken. I know I can be difficult but once past whatever - it's not that bad or I'm not anyways.

I don't see how we're stagnated at all. I think this is just an excuse to cause a rift between the Republic and the Jedi, which is dumb imo. I don't think this is going to help at all, but I suppose we'll see. And if I don't like what I see I'm not going to hang around for the sinking of the ship. I'm not the captain.

[member="Kiskla Grayson"] - I'd like to hear your thoughts on what has been brought up above? Namely that the training threads move to the JA but the mission threads stay in the GR to still show the relationship between the Republic and Jedi Order and because if the JA is basically just a school, it wouldn't be issuing missions (at least not those tied to political powers such as the GR).

We went from Disaster to "Hey, let's try this out." without the adherence of those running the faction, lol. What sense does that make, and what if they reject this idea?

We shouldn't argue. No one is required to end membership with any faction at all ever. Any character can remain or join any faction anytime for any reason the writer decides. The Order as a whole may move but you are still in control of your character.

That's not the problem I have, Talon. This tension won't be defused by telling the writers that they control the fate of their own characters, which they should absolutely already know. The issue is, what are the Jedi becoming and why? Why was there even a desire to begin with to estrange the Jedi from the Republic? Who's privy to these decisions and why were they attempting to make such profound decisions without the agreement of the members of the faction they lead?

We're all being cool and understanding now at the suggestion of a proposal that hasn't even been agreed upon yet. Does no one else think that this stinks as much as I do? I swear, this feels like some sort of Sith ooc play, though bear in mind I'm not accusing anyone. I just think there's more to all this than Everyone seems to think.

Person A to the Republic: "Hey, we're not friends anymore."

The Jedi Council and Order to person A: "Uhm... hell no. That's not true at all. We are absolutely still friends with the Republic."

Person A to the Republic: "Uhhh... fine. I guess we're still friends, but us cool kids are gonna go over here and build a sweet new tree house and you're not invited. Catch ya later, nerds."

^ this is dumb...

I can't speak for others and won't pretend to. If the sith play as they claim if/when the jedi leave they will stop their war on the republic. Does this seem like it will cause another schism? Yes in a way it does. Do I think that was the intent? No I don't. I've written with some of the "cool kids" for years and I like to give them the benefit of the doubt. Do I agree that leaving the republic makes sense right now? No I don't. Do I plan to leave? No I don't. Will I enlist in the republic military just to have a reason to keep fighting for the republic? Absolutely.

All I was trying to say in my last post was that I didn't want people to feel they were being forced to do anything. If you don't like the idea of the jedi leaving maybe someone should request a vote and do this democratically.

The republic has an awful reputation for OOC arguments causing splits. Lets not feed that reputation when most of us really just want to write nice stories.

The JA can, and likely will issue missions, but the ones specific to the GR can be posted here. As you suggested.
Which will address some of the points brought out by the NFUs at the beginning of the thread that requested to work alongside Jedi a bit more.

This is a nice idea, methinks.

I thought it made sense to post this as soon as possible, so we don’t get confused and we all know where we stand. I’ll also post this on the Jedi boards, so hopefully it won’t be missed.

Following the GrandMaster’s announcement in a pre-recorded message, things have been discussed IC and OOC. And having spoken to the Council and the Triumvirate, the following is our current position. Although it is six years since [member="Kiskla Grayson"] was taken by the OS, she set us a direction of travel. So here is where we are now.

1. The Jedi Academy

This is where all training should take place going forward. This is precisely why it was set up. So what should you do?

a. Go and sign up with the JA. Don’t think of it as a Faction, think of it as what it was designed as - a network of Academies. Hopefully within a week, Corvus will have an Academy to train people in, and [member="Avalore Eden"] will soon have Cato back under rightful hands.

b. The GR have agreed to fund our Academies, and to also fund non-GR Jedi being trained at our Academies.

c. Over the next few days we’ll either lock threads (so new items can’t be added) or move content to the Jedi Academy. Existing training threads can be finished here.

d. A slightly new approach to Master-Padawan seems sensible. Rather than a Master being responsible for every piece of training, it makes more sense for the Master to be responsible for the oversight of training. Padawans should seek training from those with expertise rather than someone who can often be a jack-of-all-trades. And you should utilise the group training threads more. You can always do one-to-one training but consider both options.

e. Be patient right now. With all of these Dominions, time is a precious commodity, so have fun accompanying Masters for example. That’s very much a part of the learning process.

f. Go and introduce yourself on the JA boards - broaden your network of RPers.

2. The Jedi Order

Linked to the above, the GR have agreed to maintain Jedi funding. Remember, every ship we use or litre of fuel we consume is paid for by the GR taxpayer. This is conditional on us retaining our core role as guardians of peace and justice in the Galactic Republic. Does that mean we can’t support other worthy causes? Of course not. Tyranny knows no borders and we will mobilise to fight it wherever it may present itself.

There will be a TJO presence here of course. Key topics (not an exhaustive list as new ones will occur to us as we carry one include):

a. Missions. Jedi Shadow Missions and GR specific TJO Missions will be posted here. There will be more generic Missions posted on the JA boards that you can participate in.

b. Promotions. These will still be handled here as they’re not training. The GR FAs determine promotion to Knight rank and the GR Masters determine initial recommendation to Master rank (which is subject to RPJ approval).

c. TJO and GR Jedi are terms we use to identify Jedi that - as the Code dictates, “Conquer External Loyalties.” Meaning they are TJO and GR focussed. So we welcome Jedi from other Factions and Orders to our boards and most - if not all - are allies of the GR in some way shape or form and play a significant part in our story.

If I've missed anything or something doesn't make sense - just ask.

:)
