Jurassic Kingdom - SJO Dom of the New Plympto Hex

Objective 3
Allies: [member="Drystan Marakos"] [member="Simona Campos"]

As Drystan used her vision to check out the area as they stood near the hill, Allyson waved her hand over the blueprints and map that she had gathered during their briefing. “Here.” The blueprints and maps would forcefully be uploaded to Drystan via mechu deru. The Corellian opened her hand and viewed the small map and spun it a few times memorizing it.

“There’s an insertion point through something that looks like a pipe leading to the underground about 3 km from where we are. If we follow it about eleven km, we should be close to the government building.” She continued to spin the map every which way trying to figure as many routes she should possibly think of. “Seems at that eleven km mark I can peel off – there looks like there’s an area I can attach and get into their security systems. That should give us a way into the building without setting off too many alarms.”

Grinning, Allyson waved and suddenly faded from view. The cloaking device and her new skill in drawing her force signature inward made her nearly invisible to anyone around them. Drystan would be able to still pick up on her since they were still close together, but with some distance the brunette would fall off the grid. <Spector 01 heading towards the relayed coordinates for insertion.>. The Corellian made contact briefly to keep the eyes in the sky updated. Silence came after as they made their way towards the underground.

It didn’t take the pair long to find, using the repulsors on her armor, Allyson forced open the hatch and held it open long enough for her and Drystan to jump down. Seemed easy enough so far.

"The only creatures confirmed to live in the caves are stone mites and rocktail lizards," she replied as [member="Reggie Faayare"] asked the question. "Rocktails are problematic, as they can be aggressive, but are typically scared off by larger beings in numbers. We shouldn't have too much of a problem with them. There are... some however, that believe in the myth of the Children."

The mention of them drew shudders from some of her men, but they kept quiet.

"It's an old myth, likely nothing more than a story. But some believe that there are creatures which live in the caves that were once human. Creatures that steal away anyone who goes too deep into the caves. But there haven't been any verifiable sightings of them ever, and many of the reported sightings were eventually disproven. Our biggest danger there is the heat, which is where the suits come in."

A Pathfinder scout ship entered the system. The small scout ship carried a single crew member, a rather excited junior archivist, to be exact. Daphne Dara was new to the Silver Jedi, a recent new addition to the team that worked to keep the Order's archives updated and orderly. She'd been holed up inside the temple archives for weeks, familiarizing herself with the information and how it needed to be kept.

This was her first mission in the field.

It wasn't a terribly thrilling objective, she was simply here to document the world of New Plympto and ensure that the information they already had was correct. She would also be keeping track of the Silver forces on the ground, and recording their progress here.

“Trust your gut, Daph.” She murmured to herself. “They wouldn't have sent you if they didn't think you were ready.” The young woman said aloud, talking to herself.

It was a bit odd, she had to admit. She'd heard rumors about the last Junior Archivist, the one that had held the position previously. People said that she'd disappeared suddenly, the circumstances were mysterious. The stories may have gotten to her, as Daphne could have sworn that she'd heard strange whispers in the archives on one occasion. Likely a case of active imagination.

Still, it was a tough thought to shake.

His question being answered, Reggie nodded and thought on what was said. Stone mites and rocktail lizards. As was said, these creatures shouldn't cause much trouble for them. The myth on the other-hand could prove to be bothersome, true or not. If the myth is true then they would most likely have a encounter with the would-be humans. If its not, then the group wouldn't find out until after their task is done, putting a damper on the teams moral wondering about the unknown.

One way or another, the only real threat was the heat and that was covered already. With all the information he needs, Reggie was more than ready to move on.

"Well, i'm as ready as i'm going to be. Thank you Ranger Kori."

The pink-haired Jedi couldn't help but give Josh a suspicious look, she wouldn't put it past the man to have engineered this situation just to test her, except she wasn't sensing any deception from the man, any sign that he'd set this up, which meant that this was real. Asaraa felt her eyes pull down to the ground, at the crunched up shards of the egg scattered across the floor. "Well, at least we know why the poachers are here in the first place, if they're staking out the area like this they must be trying to get some of the Dryptodosaurs out with them." The girl bit her lip, a small smile pulling up her lips as she glanced at the others.

If this had been a cartoon then she'd see a bulb come to light ontop of her head, as it was there was just a hint of satisfaction in the force, a smile touching her lips, "but if they've been picking up the animals then they must still be in the area and I'm betting they're not going to be very happy about being caught. So...do you think maybe you guys could sense them wherever the poacher's base is? I imagine it must be like they're screaming into the force, and if we know where to go, well we have some people who specialise in sneaking in," she gestured at Riamah and Madalena. "Just try not to kill too many, dead they're martyrs, alive they're warnings to other poachers who might want to try it, I can't imagine the government is gonna be too happy with them after all."

Seeing the blonde woman with an armful of containers and shoulders slung with backpacks, Seva did something very foreign to her -- she helped. Well, sort of. Stepping up to Eustachya, she took the topmost medical container from the stack so that it would no longer be in danger of toppling. Glancing about, it seemed that some of the other staff members had a staging area set up nearby.

"Just there, I think." She nodded in that direction.

Trudging over herself, Seva kept her nose wrinkled against the smell of the place -- it was wretched. But, as she glanced around, she took a moment to let it all sink in. The other members of the Silver Services Corps were already busy at work. There were engineers setting up equipment, she spotted what appeared to be some kind of shield or barrier that went up around the area. Air purifiers were already going as well, but the young noblewoman suspected that this process would take time. Squinting, she also noticed that a makeshift medical clinic was being put up, a white tent with beds. So many were here to help, perhaps this was a worthy cause after all.

"Are you a doctor or a healer?" She asked, glancing at Eustachya, brows lofted slightly.

There were other people around who could worry. Madalena was not worried. The moment they realized they were in a nest area with hatched eggs, Madalena was omg so excited! There were few things in life than killing creatures that were bigger than you and wanted to eat you. The Sithling was also great at cutting and preserving meat so she could eat them instead, but somehow she thought mentioning this around a group of kind hearted Jedi might not be the wisest thing to do.

"If they've been picking animals up, it must be the small ones, because they're smaller and easier to handle, especially if freshly hatched," she pointed out as she rejoined the conversation. Whatever else had been said before [member="Asaraa Vaashe"] 's lightbulb got lit, she hadn't been paying overly much attention to. "Which means," she added with a wicked grin, "that if we run into any animals, they're going to be-"

They could all feel the ground before they could hear the sound. A roar.

"Big," Madalena grinned from ear to ear. Another roar was heard, this one much louder, and more importantly, much closer, "angry," she added with the same light casualness.

As if by special order of one slightly on the whacky side of a young Sith, flora moved around and now the group was facing a big lizard dragon huge thing that was standing about 4.5 meter tall and seemed so unhappy and angry.

"And probably want to eat us," she finished her words, lightsabers in her hands, the green beam that complimented her glowing eyes (courtesy of the Jedi she was not dating and not sleeping with also known as [member="Josh DragonsFlame"]), and without waiting, Madalena rushed forward, roaring back at the creature as if there was also a roaring contest to be won that day.

"We know there is prodigy and there is hothousing. Thus far you only talked about hothousing"

"I know for a fact that genius doesn't often arise from a prodigy, I'm lucky to have been both, but prodigy-hood often create expectations that can cause their downfall, and downfalls there are. Teenage years and young adulthood years can be hell for a child that was hothoused"

She knew about another Jedi that was once a graduate student while a teen-aged padawan - and she's not one of those false-negative cases or cases where people are otherwise discovered as Force-sensitive later in life - that, well, fell short (even though the actual shortfall can turn out to be limited, with some of them still becoming experts in the end, just with much more limited recognition in their fields, if any). Much like false geniuses often are still rather intelligent but just fall short of actual genius. But for each prodigy that just falls short, with falling short implying that the shortfall is not sufficient for preventing them from at least developing some expertise in the field they were prodigies in, there were a few, much more severe burnouts. At least Ziana is not totally out of luck: to the extent I know the non-Omwati population of Glyss tend to think of her as someone destined for great(er) things, that could become just as brilliant as I would be, she has yet to develop any kind of preference, Jessica thought, knowing that there is a fine line between coaching and hothousing that some people fail to understand.

Getting into the grove of her work, Daphne whistled softly as she tapped a few commands on her console. The probes had been launched, and she was now receiving data back about New Plympto.

“Good, good!” She chirped, swiveling in her chair.

This information would be used to update the entry in the Silver Jedi archives. And now, she would begin to chronicle the presence of the Silvers here on the world. She gave her knuckles a crack before setting her fingers to work at the keys.

“The New Plympto Wildlife Protection Service recently put out a call for assistance to help put an end to animal trafficking in their wilds.” Daphne said this all aloud as she typed, it was just how she worked. “Members of the Silver Jedi are present to join the Rangers in order to apprehend the poachers and protect the wildlife here on New Plympto.”

Daphne paused to read over her work, squinting at the screen in search for any errors.

“Efforts are currently underway.” She added with a small nod.

Quietly, she wondered how the team was doing and if they were making much progress.

The Jedi seemed to be taking this seriously, at least. Ranger Bluerock would give them that. It wasn't often that outsiders came to their planet and had respect for the wildlife, in fact that was half the reason that the Rangers existed. They discussed options for handling it as they pressed on, but when [member="Scherezade deWinter"] turned to find one facing her, they all stopped dead.

And then the woman charged it.

"NO!" shouted the Nosaurian, who raised his blaster rifle her way. His concern was well-founded, proven when a second Dryptodosaur who'd been waiting in the brush leapt out at her in her haste to charge the first, a common hunting tactic with them. Separate, lure, strike. He squeezed the trigger, sending a red bolt of plasma at the creature, striking a glancing shot off its tail that seemed painful enough to distract it from its attack. The creature pulled its clawed forelimbs inward as it shrieked in pain, falling through midair.

Behind them however another shriek rang out, this time from a Combat Response Agent, as another Drypto had snuck up behind him, driving a sickle-shaped claw through his calf before clamping jaws around the arm that held his weapon, pulling the agent into the brush noisily.

*Not to scale*

The adults had found them and they were not happy parents. Yuroic was about to work his magic in terms of Beast Control, however one of the women that Josh had brought with him decided to ignore what he and Riamah had said. Instead she went after them for the kill. Growling to himself, Yuroic raced forward and jumped in front of the woman to stop her from attacking them. He shook his head sharply. "No! Attacking them is not the answer, they are just worried about their younglings. I can calm them, at least with Riamah's assistance." His voice was stern, he was happy to kill the poachers if necessary but these animals were just doing what instinct told them to do.

However, things started getting sideways faster than Yuroic could have predicted, Madalena's charge provoked two more to come out and attack. It also meant that the Ranger fired on another one. Things were just getting worst. Yuroic quickly closed his eyes and entered all the Dryptodosaurs he could see. His concentration was focused on them with hope that no one was going to carry on attacking as things could only get worst. As he entered the Dryptodosaurs's minds he sent a message to all of them as he reassured them with a calming aura. "Peace friends. We want to help find those who stole your children. Let us help, that is all we want to do."

He wanted and held his breath, as long as no one else provoked them by attacking them, Yuroic hoped that he could get them to calm down. If he was lucky, he might even get them to join him, for now he just wanted them to stop attacking.

Samara had been already to go out into New Plympto's countryside and look for the missing child, but no one said they'd be going into caves.... Where there were creatures, high temperatures, and space got real cramped. The honey blonde took in a deep breath and let it out slowly trying to recenter herself in the Force. She'd never really been overly claustrophobic, but for some reason the Liann got a chill down her spine just thinking about it even more so than the mythical beasts.

"Well, i'm as ready as i'm going to be. Thank you Ranger Kori."

The young Jedi healer looked over to the padawan and gave him a small smile, then to the others. "As I am. We should not delay any longer as time is of the essence to find the missing child."

Madalena had to halt herself mid-rush, freezing mid-motion in a near comical manner as [member="Yuroic Xeraic"] stopped her. She frowned at the Jedi dude, ready to push him out of the way, when more of the big pretty beasts showed up.

The situation confused her. These were experienced fighters, all of them. Light or Dark side didn't matter. Why were they so afraid of big meat hungry lizards? If she wasn’t going to fight one, Madalena wanted to pet one. Maybe color its finger nails with pink glitter, whatever, it all worked.

Yet still, a fight was going on. The ranger that was with them was dealing with the two others that had come out of hiding.

The grin on Madsy's face was hard to ignore.

She lunged into the air, flipping over [member="Yuroic Xeraic"], gave herself another push, and BAM – landed on the back of the first dino-thing that had revealed itself to the group. "YEEE-HAW!" Madalena screamed as the thing tried to get her off him, but she had thighs for days with strong muscles. She was not climbing, jumping, or falling off, any time soon.

Objective 1:
Team: [member="Yuroic Xeraic"] - [member="Scherezade deWinter"] - [member="Riamah"] - [member="Rachel Taff"] - [member="Asaraa Vaashe"]

Things had gone south quickly. A large creature had attacked them, and of course Maddy had decided it was in her best interest to try and kill it. Yuroic did his best to stop her, which he could respect and was surprised by from the lad. But more would crop up, and begin attacking the group. As they had more than enough people trying to attack them, Josh decided to play the role of support. "Pacify them, without doing them much harm" Josh spoke calmly. It was a suggestion, and Asaraa would be the one to make that an order if she wished.

Josh meanwhile, would sit down in the center of the melee, while the others fought around him, he would cross his legs, close his eyes and begin to fully focus Battle Meditation.

The fully formed Battle Meditation would increase the morale and strength of the party, while also demoralizing their foes. If he could just make the creatures more skittish, a bit of pressure from the group would likely cause them to flee...

Settling into the pilot's seat, Daphne took a quick peek at the data stream provided by the probes. She gave a small, satisfied nod. There was enough here to return to the archives to complete her logs entries, but as she looked out the viewport at the planet below... she had an idea.

Why not do the logs while enjoying some of the sights and scenes of New Plympto?

She rubbed her hands together, surely she wouldn't be missed all that much back at the temple. As it was currently, she was tasked mostly with administrative duties... nothing pressing, by any means.

And so, the junior archivist took her small scout ship down. Of course, she did not want to interfere with any of the efforts taking place on the ground – she would keep to the skies and take in a bird's eye view. The temperate world opened up before her, blue skies and lush jungles. It was pretty, but that thought would likely have changed had she known the beats that roamed within the foliage.

“The Silver Jedi have also begun to start a humanitarian project on Duro,” Daphne noted in her logs, remembering mention of the Silver Services Corp. “The team is on the ground to establish a new clinic and help improve conditions for the residents of that world.”

The various teams within the Silver Jedi were still somewhat baffling to Daphne, but it was just part of the learning curve. After all, the Order was a fairly large organization with quite a lot of moving parts.

Well, this was very much not what she had intended to happen, not in the slightest. What was supposed to be a easy hunt throught the woods had turned into a little bit of a mess, but then that was pretty much par for the course for the Silver Jedi, wasn't it?

The newly minted Jedi knight took a step back and to the side, to stand infront of Josh as she felt the familiar sensation of his Battle Meditation sweeping over the clearing. A look, somwehre between a smile and a grimace flashed across the girl's face as she reached into her pockets, pulling out two of the Chakram Shields, flicking them on s she glanced over at Riamah with a small shrug, "Well, that wasn't quite I I planned it, but lets see if we can drive them off without hurting them too badly. We're the trespassers here." As she spoke Asaraa flicked her wrists, launching both shields forward where she could grasp them with the force, sending them flying at the attacking lizards, the shields discharging a sharp stunning blast of energy each time they touched the lizards. If she could just make this too annoyinf for them, they might be willing to leave the group alone but, the poachers were bound to notice the noise. "Yuroic, see if you can get them to flee towards the poacher's camp, they can be our distraction."

Listening to what Asaraa had to say, it was clear the girl had a good understanding of how poachers would think. They might still be in the area because the shells were freshly hatched...

She suggested they send in people that could sneak around. That would be her and maybe Josh as well. What skills the others were good at were hardly known to her. One mission together hardly gave any true indication to them. She and Josh had been on a few and worked well together...normally.

On the bright side, poachers weren't as horrible in her mind as slavers. These guys when they caught them would not be subjected to any mental torture from her. In full agreement to not kill them, Ra would do her best not to.

Soon it became clear that while the poachers had escaped with the little dinosaurs and not been noticed by the big ones, they weren't going to be so lucky. Madalena had started to point this out when the parents arrived. What she did almost made Ra want to facepalm, but that didn't happen. At least she would keep the one distracted for a while.

One of the rangers yelled out to stop, but Madalena was already in motion. He fired at the beast which reared back and then another of dinosaurs attacked from behind. One of the other rangers went down with a claw to the leg and then dragged away. She didn't see of a way to save him. Some losses were common and Ra simply accepted this one.

When Yuroic started to touch the minds of these guys, Ra would attempt to do the same. The two of them together essentially sending the same message would hopefully do the job. Josh lended them some aid by performing Battle Meditation. The enhancement reached her and provided enough to overpower the minds of the beasts.

Madalena went on to leap on top of the back of one and it rebelled. This was going to be more difficult than she expected. Focusing on the one, Ra attempted again to calm it. Looking briefly at Asaraa as she spoke, she listened to the suggestion. Nodding, she would suggest she knew the location of their babies.

Eustachya nodded, following Seva as they lead them. "Truthfully, neither," she said. "I have yet to declare my specialization. Until then, I am simply trying to be useful somewhere." As she walked, the older woman shifted her arms to get more comfortable with the weight on them. "I'm, uh, Eustachya, by the way, but some at the Silver Rest have taken to calling me Eucha. I do not oppose if you wish to do the same."

Once she put her load, Eustchya stood to offer her right hand out in a handshake and add, "It is so very nice to meet you."

"And yourself?" she then asked, smiling gently.

"Ah, I see." Seva started, as she listened to her companion. It seemed they had something in common, Seva herself had yet to decide her own direction. This was just an experiment, she'd told herself. However, she was beginning to see the merit of helping others -- a scratch on the surface.

"Eucha," She repeated, after the woman's introduction. "Very well, then. You can call me Seva."

Normally, she would have insisted upon being called Lady Seva, but she felt that it would only hinder her in this situation. "I'm not a doctor either, not anything like that." She held up her hands briefly. "But, like you, I'm just here to help where I can, I suppose."

The young noble did have quite an aversion to getting her hands dirty, but it seemed that it might be called for today. And as she glanced over towards the medical tents, she could already make out the outlines of several patients lined up nearby. She wrinkled her nose. She was nowhere near skilled enough to really assist, but she figured that she and Eucha could still do something.

"Well, I guess we can bring these things to the tents." She lifted a medical case, too. "It looks like they'll be needing these things."

Seva started to walk, motioning for Eucha to follow.

"So, it looks like they do have a capable medical staff here, yes?" She said aloud, "Shall we begin to bring them patients?"

Objective 2: Missing Child

While the Rangers briefed the Silver Jedi party, Liuna hung back at the station. The Shadow had been on her way out, but she'd noticed the parents of the missing child. They were huddled together, waiting. The Mirialan's heart sank. She was not a parent, but she felt for them. Liuna could only imagine the worry they felt.

“Don't worry,” She said, revealing herself to them. “The Order will help find your child.”

The mother smiled weakly, and held out a rather ragged blue object.

Liuna's brows rose slightly, but her gloved hand wrapped around what appeared to be a teddy bear. It was well loved, the fabric worn and the bear's features a bit squashed and sad-looking.

“It is his favorite,” She said, “He'll be missing it.”

She gave the soft stuffed creature a small pat, and then tucked it away safely into her bag.

“I'll give it to him then.” She smiled, and then turned to join the others.

It appeared that Ranger Kori had just finished the briefing. Their vehicle was already waiting, and it seemed everyone was ready to get started. Liuna climbed in, and looked to the others that were to accompany her on this trip.

“Get in,” She said, waving. “We'll be there shortly.”

And once everyone was situated in the vehicle, it sped off towards the Crystal Caverns. Not force-sensitive herself, she glanced to the two Jedi in her company – Padawan Faayare and Knight Raine.

“Do you feel anything?” She asked, as they got closer to the caves.

The rocky terrain made their vehicle struggle for a moment or two, but they finally made it close to the entrance. The dark mouth of the cave was waiting. As Liuna looked in that direction, she had to wonder if the boy wandered her alone. It was a scary place for a child, at least that's what she imagined.

“Well,” She said, sliding out of the transport. “Let's go.”
