Let's get rid of the concept of Faction Leaders convening to discuss fairness and balance prior to I

Before an Invasion begins, Faction Leaders must convene to discuss how the Invasion will be handled by both sides to account for fairness and balance. If a compromise is not reached within 7 days, please consult the SWRP Staff Team and a Role-play Judge will be assigned.
As all Faction Leaders past and present are aware, this can really bog down the inherit organic nature of war.

It prevents surprise attacks.

It prevents ambushes.

It's probably the one rule that completely ruined the One Sith vs Republic war (I dub it the Eternal War) and really just made both sides hate each other. It was awful, for everyone in it.

And really it doesn't do much in the way of accounting for fairness or balance. The victory rules that have since been implemented, detailing how victory is assigned during an invasion/rebellion, do that. These rules also aren't present in Rebellions and they seem to do just fine.

Yes, it'll cause headaches. Yes, it'll cause a lot more reports.

But it'll bring back a lot more Chaos. And I think we, the community, need/want that.

I say not, at least in the immediate future, if only for equitable opportunities. The First Order just gave the GA 7+ days of notice, which opened the door to metagaming, speed-domming to ensure influence clouds aren't broken after the terms are set, and extensive stalling, etc. (which isn't to say that's what has happened, just that there is opportunity). It's only fair that we have the same opportunties. So if this goes forward, I propose it is placed well in advance and doesn't become effective immediately.

I am... conflicted. On the one hand, on paper, it looks like we are removing a critical aspect of fairness and almost begging for drama...

Yet there is something to be said of which I have not personally experienced, for stall tactics and just uncompromising obstructionism that also leads to drama and a toxic environment.

If there was some kind of middle ground, like perhaps an Invading faction must give some form of advanced notice (say a week, as is the case between the FO and GA), as a replacement for this rule. Or perhaps a discussion only between them to discuss when an invasion happens, and hash out the details later as it occurs. It would simplify the OOC diplomatic process, give just enough time to organize all the necessary information needed to write the invasion, and would curb any attempt to purposely obstruct and delay a story that wants to be told.

I'd be all for that.

Totally removing it? I am not so comfortable with, but I can only hope that people will have developed by now the common courtesy of warning people what they are going to do ahead of time, should this requirement be lifted.
