Liberty And Justice For All

Connor didn't hesitate to try get her attention.

"Well don’t let him walk over you. Sith need respect – if he doesn’t respect you, then he’s using you. Don’t give him the satisfaction.”

Shaking his head, he was irked at Lords like that. Out for one thing and one thing alone – power.

"Using me for what? I don't know what his plan is yet. I can't stand up to him if he's not here and I don't know why he did this."

It was frustrating to say the least. She hated being left in the dark, hated to be abandoned. Why is it that no one stays? It didn't matter though. She was used to doing everything by herself, learning what she could from others so that she wasn't limited in her knowledge.

"All that I can do right now is just look after Commenor and keep it out of anyone's control but my own."

"Well then, I think you know what you need to do.”

He was no politician, but before she asked him what he would do...and now he knew what he would do.

"You need to show Commenor just what and who you are. Forge new alliances and break old ones. Tear down the walls that block you and build them around ones that are a threat. Use your power. Use your ability! Stop holding back.”

She nodded a little. Some of what [member="Connor Harrison"] had said, she agreed with. The latter half, not so much. But they were running in circles with this discussion.

"I will put myself out there and get Commenor more allies. Where one might fail us, there are others that would take their place."

Kay made her way into the Palace, greeted by it's warmth. She was glad to live in such a large home, one in which she didn't feel so confined. "I don't want my actions to backfire and put me in an even worse situation."

Connor stayed silent as she spoke, but followed her into the grounds again.

"Don’t think about them backfiring – have confidence in them making a difference either way. Just roll with what happens, and see every outcome as a chance to do something.”

He milled around, and ran a hand over his face.

"Have you no other advisors who are aware of the…situation?”

Yes, her choices backfiring would certainly make a difference, especially if her planet and everyone on it was destroyed. At least there was the mines 30,000 feet below the surface. They would be able to protect some of the population. That is unless Commenor was blown to bits. It was hard not to think of the worst case scenario sometimes. Sometimes it helped her plan around it.

As [member="Connor Harrison"] asked her about other advisors, she shook her head. "No. And I don't anticipate any either. I'll just take care of it all myself." It wasn't as though she would put some stranger into the position. Advisors needed to have her trust and right now she hardly trusted anyone. Her lack of certain memories didn't help in that regard either.

Wincing slightly, Connor didn’t like the sound of that.

"Build alliances. Other planets, systems, businesses – whoever, just do it. Get people on side and in turn to invest in what you can give them, and vice versa. I know I’m not in the game, but no matter where I’ve stood, people succeed more with others behind them.”

He looked at her, serious.

"Do it. And, if you need help, I can help be there.”

Kay stopped in the hall, folding her arms across her chest as she stepped back to lean against the wall.

"That's what I plan on doing. Building stronger alliances. But...it's not as though that helped me at all during my kidnapping. I was....lucky that I held more value being alive than dead."

She just shrugged her shoulders a bit as though it was all nothing.

Standing opposite her, Connor gave her little in terms of sympathy or expression.

"Well, I tried to find you if that’s any consolation, but your hired help here didn’t know their arse from their elbow. Cull them, get someone better. That kid, Enoch or Enon or whatever…he’s useless.”

He turned on his heel to glance down the way while he mulled over his thoughts.

"It’s just a matter of asserting yourself and surrounding yourself with the right kind of people. Once I make my move to cut ties with the Silver Jedi then I’ll be freed up to help if I can.”

Kay nodded. "I did get rid of them. That's why I'm on my own."

She followed [member="Connor Harrison"] 's gaze. Her gut instinct told her things that she just didn't want to believe. But that's the thing with gut instincts. They were more than often correct. Choosing to let him get close wasn't going to change that.

"I'll assert myself alright. And before anyone can realize it, I'll have control of everything. But, one day at a time." She left it pretty vague. Her plans were known only to herself. It was safer that way.

With a sigh, he shook his head.

"I’m going back to Voss. I have a few personal matters to attend to before I commit myself to anything else, and right now you need some time alone to figure just what you want, and how you want to do it.”

He strolled past her.

"I have to say, I think we’ve bridged a gap today. You may be a Queen in title, but right now we stand on the same pedestal in the eyes of the Dark Side. Wanting so much, but just not sure how to grasp and get it for ourselves.”

Resting on the arm of a chair, he smiled.

"And before you say anything, I will be back. And I know you’ll miss me.”

Yes, [member="Connor Harrison"] was right. She needed time alone. Time to recuperate. There was no doubt that what she had gone through affected her far more than just being forced to turn to the darkside. Her flashback earlier had proven that.

A brow was raised as he spoke of them being at the same level. That was true too in some ways. Kay smirked and then laughed a little as he said that she'd miss him. No doubt he was reflecting back on that stolen kiss.

"Oh just get out of here and take care of what needs taking care of. I'll be fine." She turned and headed to her office. It was time to wind down and have some tea.
