Lockdown on Exocron (Sanya)

[member="Sanya Val Swift"] [member="Bryce Bantam"]

EXOCRON ORBIT

The three-thousand-metre Darr Itah-class battlecruiser 'Verdict' exited hyperspace in geosynchronous orbit, in company with a two-hundred-metre science vessel called the 'Gossamer'. On the cramped little bridge of the latter, Jorus Merrill nodded to his comm officer, a Brubb named Vorn.

"This is Captain Merrill of the 'Gossamer' to the occupants of the Inquisition Industries weapons factory on Exocron. Your employer is an enemy of the people of the Kathol territories. The factory is being impounded and repossessed. You're all free to leave, and I'd recommend you leave quickly. Ion cannon bombardment will begin in thirty seconds. This is because your employer's factories tend to explode when she doesn't want them captured. My apologies for the inconvenience."

The battlecruiser began firing, and it had a lot to offer in the disabling-electronics department. Thirty dual heavy long-range ion cannons; thirty quad ion cannons; and, focused on whatever defensive emplacements or shield generators the factory might have, four monstrous binary fusion ion weapons the size of planetary hypervelocity guns. Oh, and the science ship had a couple of heavy on cannons too. One raindrop raises the sea, as they say.

In a matter of seconds, so far as Jorus could predict, every piece of electronics in the factory would stop working and/or burn out. The only weapons-grade physical damage would be from the binary fusion ion guns, and even that would be fairly minimal.

Exocron Orbit:

From the bridge of the "Righteous", a recovered and refurbished Arakyd Industries Lucrehulk Class command carrier, Colonel Cody Bantam over looked the target. As he reviewed the holo of the battle map he felt the ship's twenty five ion cannons adding to the bombardment as his troops held position around the facilities on Exocorn. Now he didn't have a personal ax to grind with the accused as other on this mission did. No to him this was just a police action, a simple civil matter that couldn't be solved in negotiations and now needed a more violent solution.

While a Silk MC70 Ackbar-class Star Cruiser called the "Bailiff" guided the detainment of all space born Inquisition assets, a full ten companies of marines now held a parameter around every inquisition industrial and civilian installation on the planet. The Incom Modified E-25 had done their job and were holding the skies above Exocron for now, while Koensayr BTL-Q3 Longshot pounded any vehicles attempting to fight back with ion bombs to disable them. The orders for every man on this mission were very clear. Take the facilities intact, use stun weapons only to insure very little loss of life and most of all act with control and restraint. Commando squads were beginning to enter the facility to disarm any explosives that may be used to injure those still inside and to to insure the buildings continued to remain on one piece. It was a precise operation, a measured operation.

This whole enterprise had one very specific purpose. A very specific goal, to get the attention of the Queen of the Croa.

The guns fell silent, and space became dark again as the torrent of blue light faded. Jorus blinked away afterimages. "Mister Musehi?"

The Zabrak sensor operator switched between modes, back and forth. "No active electronic signatures remaining. No secondary detonations. Minimal physical damage, concentrated on shield generators and defensive emplacements." Musehi looked up from his console and grinned. "As far as I can tell, Captain, the entire factory complex has been neutralized, and there's exactly the same number of stable lifesigns as there were before the bombardment."

Tension eased from Jorus' shoulders. "Mister Vorn, my compliments to Captain Barrayo on the Verdict. Call Captain Bantam and give him the good news. He'll be moving in now for capture operations. With luck, they won't get any sophisticated weapons working again before he can round them all up. Did a distress call get out?"

The Brubb at the comms panel nodded. "Technology and vector consistent with Sekalus."

Descending to Exocron:

The planet hidden in a protostar nebula was a shining jem in the wilderness of the outback. That was the way most of the citizens wanted it and I'm sure they were now none to pleased that "outsiders" has come a knocking. Still the operation was done by the book. They had met with the government before hand, hammered out a understanding as to what the mission included and where their jurisdictions ended and the local authorities began.

As the rough transport Cody was traveling landed the old republic war horse stepped out and was greeted by a dirt covered officer with a well used stun rifle clipped to his chest.

"Action is nearly complete. All targets have checked in and are secure. Thanks to the ion bombardment the droids defending were all but neutralized, looks like it scrambled their brains pretty good."

"What I like to hear, and the civilians?" Cody asked.

"Save and being escorted to secure locations."

"Ok then commander, I want all none Croa to be released to head home. Tell the workers they will have the next few days off while this is sorted out. All the Croa need to be isolated on the "Righteous" . I know official word is they are a recognized race and all but after what was reported on Demonsgate we need to be sure. Medical staff will give them a full workup, but we do this as kind as possible. Humane and all, full food, shelter the works. Understood commander?"

"Yes sir!" The commander saluted before he began barking out orders.

The precautions were over kill, Cody had no doubt. But if the safety of her people was half as important as she claimed then she would not be able to turn a blind eye to this for sure.

Prologue 18 hours ago -

Image feeds had cut off causing them to go blank at headquarters. In the last moments it cause had been determined. Inquisition Industries had been attacked. The woman behind the desk got a sheepish look from shock. Wondering if the people inside was okay. She hoped they were okay. Friends of hers worked at that facility and even her father. What monsters would do this. She looked around to another member of staff. "We need to relay this." "Relay wh.. Whoa what the hell. Wait here." The twi'lek said as he dashed out the room. Moments later the manager came rushing in going over the last seconds of feed. Neither of them said a thing as they hovered over the terminal. The managers hand reached for the company com and made a direct connection to the CEO. "Miss Val Swift? Exocron facilitys have been hit."

Sanya picked up the company com. It was rare she received any calls to it so she was cuorios to what it was about, especially since she was settling down for bed. The second she picked up that one line was enough to make her alert again. "Wait, did you just say attacked?" Sanya asked to confirm the words spoken. "Yes. We can't make contact and all feed is dead. I suspect ion bombardment although I can't be one hundred percent." Nerves effected the lady's voice. Making it shaky this was a first for her. Situations like this wasn't in the training. "Contact all transports going to Exocron. They are to avoid the world until further notice." Sanya closed the com. In her next hours she'd made preparations and left sekalus on a ship marked as civilian. Her guard wanted to come but she'd ordered them to take care of situations there.

Now -

The Dynamic class freighter II exited hyperspace above the world. She had used one of her many sort cuts that no navigational system had. Each hyper jump spot had been memorized due to how many times she'd made this journey. She could already pick up a few sensor blips. One of them been the same science ship from a few weeks ago on Sekalus's borders. Others where new to her. Sanya wanted to know what they where planning. Why the attack and had they killed her workers or taken them hostage. Even though some electronics should be back up running by now she'd not received word from those below, but she couldn't contact to fund out either. That would give away she's close.

The ship began to decende to to planet making it look as if she was going esle where. It was fair to say the woman was on edge and the turbulence didn't help much. Even though she was used to it the queit made it feel so much worse.

The ship soon touched down onto the world a fair distance away from the facility. It had several exits many popping up as emergency access. Still she couldn't run in blind, Sanya needed to see what she was dealing with. Her hands would move across the dashboard erasing the history of hyper space jumps. Standing up she's put the robe on over her clothes her feet would tap against the metal mesh floor making for the exit. Although she paused at the ramp looking out at the scenery taking a deep breath. Once more she began the walk that would be long in the dark and rain.

Eighteen hours had changed the lay of the land. The non-Croa employees had been released but were being monitored to a reasonable extent. The Croa were still under secure medical quarantine elsewhere. By night, the factory complex blazed with light, but not from the buildings' own fixtures: the ion bombardment had cooked just about everything. Instead, Kathol authorities had set up independently powered floodlights to illuminate their work. The factory was being analyzed, its weapons and droids assessed, its surviving data transferred elsewhere. Kathol security forces patrolled the perimeter.

The real security, though, was the 'Gossamer'.

From the bulk of the galaxy, there was exactly one way to reach Exocron, a six-month daisy chain through systems and governments that had joined the new, united Kathol cause. Over the course of long years, the Underground had seeded that route with all sorts of monitoring equipment.

When a ship arrived at a location this deep in the Outback without triggering any of those monitors, the Underground tended to notice.

The 'Gossamer' boasted a comprehensive sensor suite tailored for scientific surveys. It had helped identify pockets of hiding employees, and separate out the Croa for medical attention. As Sanya left her ship, the science vessel's sensors noted the presence of another Croa in the factory's vicinity.

A shuttle touched down not far from her position. Jorus emerged and raised a palm-sized loudspeaker to his lips.

"You know," he said, peering through the rain, "I'm extremely tempted to make a joke about curiosity killing the cat. There's no escape, Your Majesty. Surrender."

Kat'Lariah Syphex

Don't. Even. Think about it.
Somewhere in the distance, Kat peered through a scope at the ship that had just touched down. Rain dripped in the quiet, rolling off the barrel of her sniper, her red-hair plastered to her head, rain rolling off her leather jacket. The woman made no noise, no movements. The only sounds was the pattering of the rain against the trees behind which she hid and the occasional crack of thunder.

Then the cat-like woman in her scope stopped, and only the barest echo of a voice could be heard by the bounty hunter. Just at the edge of her hearing, the woman could hear a loudspeaker, although what was said she couldn't discern. The scope shifted to seek out the speaker. [member="Jorus Merrill"]...another Undergrounder like herself. Very well then...this bounty would still be hers. For now though, she'd allow the scene to play out...maybe the mark would play right into her hands.

That voice it just had to be him again. She drew in a deep breath as the light bent around her making her body invisible. Her boots still left prints where it was muddy as she walked towards jorus. Although she could feel this time he was different his connection to the force had returned. It was strange for that to happen. She beloved once the force was ripped from someone it was permanent. Although life is mysterious and so is the force. Lighting flashed off in the distance followed by a loud rumble. The rain began to come down harder and in a mixture of directions as the wind blew strong. Sanya was fighting to walk against the wind and the rain hit her face hard. Even her Hood had blew down. As the second flash happened when she had stood upon the hill looking down to the man and shuttle she'd appear to his eyes before dissaearing again.

She wanted him to know she was close. That she was there. That she was here for her people. "YOU DID IT AGAIN DIDN'T YOU!? ATTACKING THE DEFENCELESS, TAKING THEM HOSTAGE. YOU CALL ME THE MONSTER BUT YOU SHOULD LOOK IN THE MIRROR." She shouted at the top of her lungs while she walked closer. "LET ME GUESS, YOU COULDN'T HELP YOURSELF. THIS TIME YOU ATTACKED MY PEOPLE MY WORKERS AND MY FACILITY." There was long pause between both parts she had said, but it didn't change that Sanya was furious at the man. She could rip his heart out if her people wasn't hostage. Chances are if she did harm him they'd be harmed.

One life isn't worth the lives of hundreds of workers. By this point she was stood directly to the left of him at arms length. "Are they still alive, safe?" Her voice was softer this time as she focused on the important. What was hers can be dealt with later. But those people don't deserve to be hurt just so they could draw her out. "Youuu look different from last time jorus..." She would appeared to sight again looking out towards the factory. Her hand was tight around the hilt of her sword still sheathed. If he told her they were dead he would meet their fate. Alive? Well she'd give hers to save theirs. It's always been that way yet they'd still see her for the lies that had been fed to them all these years. Did they even want to listen to the truth again? Did they even have any care for evidence she had? Or would all that be brushed aside to just point blame shouting it's all her fault... Everything is her fault.

Jorus blinked placidly as Sanya appeared again. In truth, bent-light illusion was a pretty poor way to make yourself invisible during a rainstorm. Even apart from her footprints, she left a faint silhouette of splattering rain in the air. Rain, smoke, particulates, sprinkler systems: the classic ways to beat illusionists. So when she appeared within arm’s reach of him, he just blinked and shrugged and turned his back on her.

“You know what the trouble with you is, kid?” he said over his shoulder. “You think everyone’s just as twisted as you. Your employees have been released, except for the Croa. They’re in medical quarantine elsewhere. Might be possible to undo what you and your Sith sisters did to them. Guess we’ll find out.”

He still didn’t turn to face her.

“Right now there’s cops impounding your ship. There’s orbital sensors watching this one little Croa lifesign. When I said there was no escape, I was dead serious. You’re under arrest. You going to come quietly? Yes or no?”

Kat'Lariah Syphex

Don't. Even. Think about it.
The rain had come down harder. And after that first flash of light, the woman had disappeared. Kat cursed herself mentally, not willing to waste her breath as she proceeded towards the area regardless of the fact that the woman had disappeared. At the distance which Kat was, she'd been unable to see the silhouette of rain. The second flash however brought the woman back, right before [member="Jorus Merrill"]. 'Creepy little kitty...' she thought.

Soon enough the bounty hunter was near enough to [member="Sanya Val Swift"] and [member="Jorus Merrill"] to make any kind of shot necessary. Still, she'd preferred to get a little closer so she could stun the cat-lady. She preferred her prey alive.

Forces had already surround the Dynamic class freighter II Sanya had traveled in. All transmission were being jammed preventing it from warning Sanya of their capture. The trap had been sprung and all were waiting for the arrest. Already additional ground forces had been summoned to Sanya landing area and were fanning out in the cover of the dark rainy night. Their was room for Sanya to run if she wanted but escape would not be easy. The units on the ground were well trained and all has a score to settle with the cat lady...

So the choice would be her's surrender or try to flee...

There was a small click from the sword. "It's irreversible now." She said to save him waisting time. "And they weren't my sisters. They at first where my captors as I told you last time. Although when I clawed my way to the top I failed to change them for the better. Could say I bit more than I could chew." The blade would ring as she puled it from the sheath slowly. "I'll come quietly on the conditions you stop experimenting on my people. They have no part in this. Your quarrel is with me." She'd look at him and gritted her teeth. Her had squeezed the hilt more till she could go no tighter. She left her sabers like normal these days. It was something she could bare to hold anymore. The darkness they held, the contact pull. Years she'd endured it's torment. Years she held it as a burden to remind her of the mistakes. Sanya simply didn't want to hold onto the past.

For in the past we see our regrets, bad choices and a life of hurt. Even as a queen she felt reminded of the day she watched her mother die in her place. A long time she'd wondered what if it didn't happen. How much would things have changed. Sekalus would still be ruled by a tyrant unknown to the galaxy, but finding the world lead to been followed there. The countless war zones she'd been in. Would those men have died a far worse fate or ahived victory. It was a universe of possibility. Dwindling on those thoughts left no room for what may lay ahead. In a quick swift action she swung the sword over her head throwing it into the ground by Jorus's feet. It was the only weapon she had on her other than the force. "I surrender then." Even if she was surrounded and the ship impounded. She knew there was a way to escape but it was time to end this

[member="Sanya Val Swift"] [member="Cody Bantam"] [member="Kat'Lariah Syphex"]

"Your surrender's accepted," said Jorus quietly. He raked damp hair back from his eyes, sighed, and pulled out a comm. "Colonel Bantam, this is General Merrill. I'm with Queen Val Swift near the factory complex. She's surrendered and is under arrest. If you've already got her ship locked down, could you see your way clear to sending a team to take custody and see that she's comfortable? Oh, and Colonel - I'll be taking a close look at what you've secured."

Feth, but it was a cold, wet, miserable kind of night. He couldn't take much satisfaction in the arrest. The Underground might have hunted Sanya for years, but it wasn't as if capturing her changed the past at all.

"You've made the right call, Your Majesty. Time to put all this behind us."

Cody landed his old troop transport some 50 meters away from Jorus and his new prisoner. Walking over to her highness he held out a force collar to her.

"Know your a fething forcer and all, gonna need you to where this mam. Won't turn it on unless you make us so what do you say, it is a pretty silver color and everything."

Cody waited for her reply head exposed to the pouring rain. As the water run down his face he pondered why someone would feel the need to change themselves so. He never really felt a need to be anything more than he was and right now that was a soldier, taking in a known fugitive.

Another ship landed not far from the two. From it emerged another man her attention went back to Jorus. "You know it'd be better if you had waited for me to get to the facility first. Least we'd not have to wait in the rain. Besides I'm done fighting." The other person soon approached so she turned to face him as he spoke holding a device in his hands. A device that made her scowl at its sight. "No." She said sounding bitter in the word. "It can be aurodium and I'll still not wear that thing. I've already surrendered so I have no gain from attempting anything. Try to put it on me I will crush it before you get the chance."

Threatening someone with such a thing was like saying, hey you use that hand a lot let me cut it off and stich it back on later. She couldn't take been cut off again. The nether world had done that to her once and she was barley able to escape with how Ill it had made her. Sanya was dependent on the force to live and survive. "You have already taken my people to experiment on your not taking the force from me as well. No doubt if I did put that thing on you'd only sedate me and experiment on me too." They didn't know that only two people I the galaxy now held the pure croa blood.

Kat'Lariah Syphex

Don't. Even. Think about it.
Kat was close now. Close enough to hear the words passed between the three before her. She watched as another man, one of the Bantams, held out what appeared to be a collar of some sort. And she definitely heard a thinly veiled threat come from the woman. "Feth it..." the woman muttered to herself. She wasn't about to wait around for the Forcer, as [member="Cody Bantam"] had pointed out, try anything. Even without a weapon Force Users could be very dangerous.

A faint whirring click could be heard as a blaster carbine was raised, set to stun. A small squeeze of the trigger and blue light rushed towards the woman, rays of energy intent on knocking her unconscious.

Judgment and instinct suggested an action, and he went with it, crouching smoothly to pick up her sword. It was a nice weapon, well-made in its way, the kind of thing a queen might carry. As Colonel Bantam and Sanya talked, Jorus wiped mud off the blade with a rag from his pocket. A little hyperdrive grease never hurt anyone. Mud, though, could damage the blade, depending on the nature of the metal.

He stood back up with the weapon in both hands, in a firm grip, cognizant that if this escalated she might try to take the sword back or turn it against him. When a stun blasters flickered out of the dark at her, he didn't make any aggressive moves.

Van Bri'tsyd

Cody saw the beam fired and no matter if it took her down fully or not he moved into action. Grasping the collar firmly he open it and reach forward and attempted to place it around her neck. If the stun beam did it's job then this should be a simple move. Still one can never be exactly sure how anything will affect a person with altered philology such as Sanya.

If this action failed he had already reached for his stun pistol, should he try and resist he would be able to stun her again. Hopefully this would not be the case and this part of the operation could finally end.

Her ears twitched from the sounds of a shot of some sort been fired. In the splits of seconds as she saw the man open up the collar and stepping towards her. She had raised her hand up crushing the locking mechanism on one side. Then it hit her the jolt ran up her tail. Her eyes began to blur as muscles tensed up. The second shot had hit her center chest where there was no protection. Everything became black in her vision as she fell to the floor limp. When she fell her collarbone would give off a noticeable crack, at the same time her nerves felt like they where been fried. She was in pain till it became to much making her fall into a short state of unconsciousness that would last a few moments.

As her body laid there in the mud unaware of what was happening she went straight into REM. She was stood on the balcony of her home on rendili overlooking the plain of hills and a river. The home was on top of a clif right by the edge. A water fall was next to it that would add into the lake and river below. It was beautiful sight, but it didn't compare to the sight of her wife coming through the door still in pajamas looking all sleepy. As Sanya watched camellia rub her eyes she'd move in close putting her arm around the rendili woman's waist and kissing her on the cheek. Although the dream was cut short when Sanya's eyes snapped open with a gasp of air now realizing she was on a ship. Sanya noticed her collarbone was in emence pain like it had been broken.

In the hours that followed, before Sanya woke up, Kat'Lariah Syphex received the full bounty: cr150,000, plus a very rare Kathol Junker Cannon.

***
There were relatively few surefire ways of keeping a Master of the Force contained. Sanya's reaction to the collar had convinced Jorus that trying that particular bit of technology again would make her difficult. The Underground didn't have any ysalamiri near Exocron, so far as he was aware. That left an old piece of gear: a large Universal Energy Cage, big enough to hold a speeder -- or, in this case, a chemical toilet and a cot. Guard droids kept an eye on her from outside the cage on all sides. Sanya would have no problem touching the Force, but if she tried to affect anything beyond the cage -- the guards, for example -- her power would rebound on her unpleasantly.

Jorus stood with one of the droids, just outside the energy field. He wasn't the only one: a number of other Judges had assembled.

"Mornin', Your Majesty," Jorus said quietly. "Scans show you've got a fractured collarbone. We gave you some painkillers while you were out, but Croa physiology's still tricky, so we didn't want to give you too much on top of the stun blast. We'll send a medical droid in to you in a bit. These are Judges, like me but not involved in the investigation. They've reviewed all the evidence for and against your case, as far as we have it. You can have legal representation if you want it, and time to prep your defense, dig up evidence if there's any we missed. If you want to say anything to them, say it now."
