Lost Causes

It was in her head that they were slugs, they had an earthy taste and she wasn't sure she liked it, but if she added more butter and more of the g r lic to it it got better. Course wine, she could handle it, it would take a lot to get her drunk, two livers and all.

She leaned forward, "thank you, but I would have wagered I could get two more in her glass" She smiled then, it was good to be able to play, and take in the world. If she knew what lay ahead of her in her life she probably would have played harder.

"there's always a ground, in the galaxy that we live there's always a place to put your feet onto, and clean air to breathe Orick" She laughed as she leaned back she lifted up her glass and looked over to him, "May life bring us our dreams [member="Orick T'ane"] for without our dreams, our hopes, even our wishes life is so dull. So all encompassing focusing only on the seriousness." She smiled brightly, her blue eyes never clearer than at this very moment.

And with her relaxation came the gentle release of pheromones to help everyone relax it wasn't always just sex. God she hoped one day she could get them all to understand.

She looked at her plate again, "I don't think I've ever had fried cheese either..." she looked at Orick, "bet they won't slip out and fly off somewhere" Her shoulders came up as she smiled she was so happy at this very moment.

"What are your dreams Orick, tell me"

He chuckled as she whispered to him, " You're probably right, but I won't want you to miss out on the chance to eat them. they are considered a delicacy on many worlds and they should be enjoyed at least once. " He was just finishing off the snails on his plate as he watched her.

[member="Breanna Volsh"] was right, there was always a ground, but he had lived in space for most of his life, so he spent more time alone, drifting in the black than he did on the ground, so he often imagined that it was easier to just think there was no ground. He saw her raise her glass and he did the same thing. She was right about it all, there were moments where he wondered if she masked her true self and hid behind the playful Zentron stereotype. " To life." He isad in return. He was happy that she had become herself again, he would feel bad about the way he spoke to her for a long time, but he wasn't able to change the past, just hope it didn't kill the future.

And as quickly as she had that perfect moment it was gone, back to being the curious Zentron again. he shook his head and smiled at her, enjoying the moments that she had, seeing the fascination through her eyes.

"My dreams? They all revolve around a small cottage in the middle of nowhere. Just a small farm with the woman I love. Nothing else for miles but land. I'm not even worried about where it is, I can make it work. I'd take Tatooine and a moisture farm and I'd still be happy." He sat back in his chair and wondered if it would ever happen. The galaxy had a way of making dreams into nightmares.

"Tattooine, I don't mine the sun but the cold at night, and I'm too much of a social creature to be all alone." Bree was very thoughtful for a few moments as she thought about the past and what the future could hold. Was there someone out there that would want her in such a way as Orick spoke, she wasn't sure. Well, there was someone who would want her, it had been but then that was so long ago now..

"I hope you find that Orick I'm not sure if I would be able to visit though, some women would get very odd around me. I had one actually slap my face once for...well she said I was eyeing her man, I didn't even know who her man was" Bree gave Orick the OMG can you believe that look.

"I've been raised around people too much I'd miss them." If she could see the future right then one would have to wonder at her comment considering all the things that lay ahead.

Bree picked at the cheese sticks, and then looked at the two types of friend round green things, one looked like a pickle chip the other like a vegetable. Bree looked to Orick's plate to see if he had eaten any of these items from the plate. She picked up the pickle in one hand, and the cheese stick in the other. She took a bite of the cheese, it was stringy on her tongue, and then she took a bite of the pickle.

Oh oh she made a terrible face it was sour, yet crunchy and her tongue felt like it had just curled up inside her mouth.

"You really want to try Tatooine" she squeaked out.

Orick shrugged as he replied, "It's not my first choice of a place to live, but if it was the only choice I had, then I would take it." He wasn't sure it would ever happen, hell he might end up a hermit on Tatooine some day for all that he knew.

He thought about what [member="Breanna Volsh"] said and how people reacted around her. He knew plenty of beings that got jealous at the way people interacted with the ones they loved, but with his business, sometimes beings flirted, it was just the way it was done. " I hope that if I ever did become involved with someone, that they would understand that business was sometimes conducted with very friendly people. You're my friend, if we happen to meet again in the future, we will be friendly and that's that." He noticed her overly dramatic look and he laughed, she always managed to convey her feelings through everything she did.

He watched and tried not to laugh as she bit into one of the fried pickles, he knew what she was going to experience from that single bite. He saw her try to cover the taste of the pickle with the cheese stick, but he knew it would linger, it always did. " I didn't say I wanted to go to Tatooine, I only said it as an extreme. If i found the one, the person I want to be with forever, I would go to the desert planet to be with her."

She smiled, "Yes we will be very friendly because..." she thought for a moment she wanted to say this in a manner and with the right words for him to understand her depth of emotion regarding their trip.

Even as she contemplated the fried sour thing in her hand, not one to back down or give up she..took a deep breath...and put another one in her mouth.. Her cheeks sucked in as her lips puckered up, she squeezed her eyes shut and chewed very quickly.

She shivered as the taste rolled over and saturated her taste buds. Then she swallowed. Her lower lip quivered, then her teeth chattered.

"We will be very friendly because" she smiled, "you helped me when you did not need to, you got mad at me, and forgave me probably against your better judgment." She took a breath. She picked up the glass of water, "There are some things that are never forgotten" then she drank down the water small drops leaked past the edges of her mouth as she washed away the pickle. Why was it so so SOUR.

She set the empty glass down her blue eyes looked at Orick. "Fried sour things, and slugs my mother would be proud" Bree laughed then leaned forward.

"You will find forever Orick T'ane I am positive of it. Of the who, when, and how I don't know...but it is a shame that you would not allow me show you what pleasure is..for I am certain...we could put the small fluffy multipliers to shame" She smiled again, and picked up what she believed to be protein.

She leaned and smelled it. It had a smell that hit the back of her nose with heat. She contemplated it....she'd almost rather have the fried thing again at least that she knew what would happen.

"Do you want children?" Bree once again had gone from serious to...well being Bree.

[member="Orick T'ane"].

Orick watched her her eat and let her words hang in the air, she was usually a very happy person, but in this moment he knew that she was serious, she would remember him and what he had done forever, even if he didn't feel that it was anything worth remembering. He was helping someone out and while it was going to be a memorable trip for the both of them, it was just about helping someone out.

" You never have to thank me or anything like that, you needed help, I'm helping. Simple as that." He watched as she puckered up from the sour fried pickle. He tried not to laugh at her because she knew it was going to be sour and yet she still ate the pickles.

He shrugged, " If I find it, I find it.... If not, then I don't. If I wait until I'm old for it to happen then that's when it happens. I don't have the positive outlook on love that you do, I just wake up every day and try to do what's best." He sat back in his chair and finished the glass of wine in his hand. He placed the glass on the table and picked at the food a bit more.

"Children aren't something I have considered, they, like the woman that doesn't exist yet. I don't plan anything out, or try to figure things out, I just live and roll the dice. sometimes they land in my favor, sometimes they don't."

Bree leaned forward putting her elbows on the table and looking all very intently as if in deep thought, “My mother once said she wished upon me the mother’s curse” She smiled then, “I do not think I should have children if they are to be under this curse” She was keeping her voice very low as she spoke.

Her blue eyes looked off into some distant point and then looked back to Orick, “Course I never did ask her what a mother’s curse was, but it sounds terrible. There are no father’s curses that I know” She made a funny face as if the thought tickled her.

She looked at her plate and then to Orick’s they were nearly finished…”Do we get dessert?” She smiled bright. She wasn’t even sure she could have children but that wasn’t something she shared with the galaxy, the scar may have taken care of that.

Should she be so concerned? She never had been before and besides some of the things said about Zeltrons made them sound foolish, and unfocussed she had to admit that she did run a bit rampant and bouncy when it came to subjects but she was smart she just rarely showed it. Least she believed she was smart.

She let out a deep sigh having said nothing for a few moments unaware that she had actually stopped talking and instead was thinking. For a moment she heard nothing but her own voice.

Orick laughed at her complete loss of understanding on the phrase. " She meant that she hoped that your kids give you as much trouble as you gave her. There's no actual curse." He wasn't sure if all Zeltrons were as clueless as she was, but she seemed to fall for a lot of simple things. He enjoyed how she looked at the world with fresh eyes, everyone else, including him, was so cynical.

" There is no father's curse either, mostly it's the same thing that you get with the mother's curse. Your parents wishing upon you the same troublemaker that you were to them, that's all it is ." He sat back as he picked at the food on his plate a bit more, the restaurant that she had picked was perfect in so many ways, it served great food and was quiet enough for conversation. He would have to remember this place for his next visit.

He sighed and thought about dessert, he wasn't really hungry anymore, but if she wanted to keep eating, he was ok with it. " If you want to order something go ahead. I'm full." He watched her as she decided. to him it was fine either way. this was still her day and she was in control of how long they hugout.

[member="Breanna Volsh"]

Bree nodded if he wasn't going to have any she would not have any either except.."Can we get it to go?" She smiled brightly she was a sucker for something sweet, matter of fact she was thinking that in order to always have room for dessert that it should come first.

She was actually growing a bit tired it had been a long day, and she could not put off the inevitable no matter how much of a good time she was having. She smiled at the couples around them and then she did something that perhaps everyone would, if they knew, be upset about.

She wanted everyone to have a good time so she paid no attention to her pheromones, she let them roll where they would. And let the people react as they would. Everyone afterall deserved a night of passion, love.

They deserved to know they were not alone in the galaxy and if one night gave them a sense of belonging she could do that. Even if they didn't know. She tried to stifle a yawn but it escaped. "Sorry, it's been a long day"

She was full for certain and she had not had such a wonderful day in a long time, so..it was a win win.

[member="Orick T'ane"]

"Sure, get whatever you want." He waved to the waiter and nodded as their eyes met. the day had been amazing and he was glad that they had decided to go to the beach. He wondered how long it would be before he came back to the planet. He may have burned a bridge or two along the way but it was worth it for the fun he had, had the light hearted day they had had.

He laughed as she yawned he was tired too, but he spent many nights working and or fighting, so a late night wasn't new to him. " It's totally ok. It has been a fun filled day, and two stomachs or not, you have had a ton of food, so I can only imagine that has made you tired." He grabbed the bill as the waiter arrived and added a few extra credits t oit to compensate for whatever she ordered.

He hoped that in the long run they would remain friends, he had a few hard rules, but she was a good person and he needed to understand her situation a bit better. Compassion was hard for him most days because it always seemed that someone was looking to rob you in these tough times.
