Lost Causes

Bree nodded and growled, "there will be a rematch." then she shook her head, oh she knew he would not let that one go for a while, but the time would come...umhmm. "Me too I'm hungry, and thirsty" all this fresh air had triggered her appetite.

Bree went to the locker and then headed towards a place to change. She looked over and smiled at Orick, "Don't go no where I will be right back" she slipped inside the dressing room and began the slow process of making sure she was dry, making sure that when she put what she had back on it wouldn't stick. Within the bag was something she had picked up, Orick didn't question the amount when they paid so he wasn't aware that she had bought something else.

She slipped it on with the flat shoes that came with it. She used the dryer in the room to fluff her hair some, she looked into her own eyes in the mirror and then at how she was dressed. This was her but yet it was different.

Carrying her bag of things, she walked out and looked for Orick.

She smiled when she saw him, and waited for him to look her way.

Orick stepped into the small changing room and quickly checked to make sure his pistol was still in place. Once he saw ti was still hidden in his clothes he quickly went about the task of drying himself and putting his clothes back on. As he put his belt on he set the holster at the small of his back and make sure that his shirt hid it's location. He didn't take long inside the dressing room getting the rest of his stuff together, He wasn't too worried about his hair as he just pulled it back into a ponytail as he walked out into the shared area.

He turned and looked for Bree as he walked around, she had entered the changing areas well before he did and he was already outside. Just like a girl to take all day to get ready he thought to himself as he shrugged and continued to wait. when she did appear he did a double take, she had changed into something new. I wonder when she bought that?

He smiled wide at her as she approached him, her hair in perfect shape and a smile on her face, " When did you get that? I sure don't remember seeing you walk off the ship with it, and you srue didn'y have any hiding places on you in that outfit you had on before?" He liked teasing her, it was fun and she was able to take it and smile.

She bit her lip for a moment then smiled at Orick and then laughed, "Did you not know that women have secret compartments for such things? Its the bags they carry, I carry mine in a ....hmm oh a miniaturizer machine." It was a reach but she hoped it would make Orick laugh.

Bree did a little curtsy, "When we were looking at suits there was a rack of sundresses I asked them if I could try one on. Its different, I don't quite fit in around the citizens of Naboo. They" she walked a little closer to Orick, "They all seem to be dressed so fashionable, no conservatively, I thought that maybe I would do the same. Fit in as much as I can." She turned around, "Do you like it?" She liked it she hoped he liked it.

While she enjoyed the reactions that she got when she wore what was comfortable for her she had thought that perhaps Orick and others would find her more pleasing if she did not stand out so much. She was just a pretty Zeltron in a dress, right?

He chuckled at her attempt at a rational reason for the dress, " whatever makes you happy."

He was a bit taken aback at her desire to fit in, she was pink and had purple hair, there wasn't much she could do to fit in in Naboo. She never seemed to mind at any other time, but women were strange like that and he wasn't even trying to ask. "You look lovely, Bree. You looked lovely in what you had on before. I'm sure you could wear rags and make them look lovely." He said with a smile on his face.

He nodded to the door, " Would you like to eat first or walk? either one works for me, it's your day so you get to pick" he said, hoping she remembered that she was promised a day of fun, her day of fun, so ti was her choice.

She smiled alwAys "you are too kind" she stopped looking at him then looking away. She had to tell him he was not really anything like she had expected. She knew before he spent another credit she had to tell him the truth.

"Can we go over there and sit please" She was full of apprehension she was afraid of telling anyone anything even if he left her sitting here. She didn't want his friends to tell him, or hurt him. Or him to lose business because of her. Her Crystal blue eyes hinted at a hurt that ran deep. She pointed toward an ornate iron bench the type that lords and ladies kept in their posh gardens.

Even in a place as beautiful as Naboo a jewel of the galaxy people could be hurt she didn't want that on her conscience there was enough there already.

He might be confused by her behaviour but he wouldn't deny her this.

He nodded and frowned a bit, " What's wrong?" He felt a bit confused about what had happened so suddenly. she was all smiles and sunshine and with a snap she was serious. He really hoped that she wasn't going to tell him how dangerous or how they might die on Zeltros, those things he knew and wasn't worried about.

He smiled and followed her towards the iron bench, trying to help her by remaining positive, hoping that what he knew about her ability to feel off of other people's emotions was correct.

" listen Bree, whatever it is, it's not a problem. If there was a problem we wouldn't have gotten this far together." he placed a hand on her shoulder, trying to calm her down.

Bree turned putting her hands on his shoulders, "sit please " She hoped that was going to 've his reaction that she was making a mountain out of a mole hill. But she couldn't let him be without information. She sat down and found a voice.

"I have been not truthful with you. And you've been generous and kind I can't not tell you the answers to questions you've asked" She did not wring her hands as she wanted to. "Why I need to go to zeltros. When the Sith invaded they killed many of my species." She had cried till she couldn't breath for many night. But never said it out loud she felt the tears well up, "my parents were among those killed. They managed a message before everything happened requesting I retrieve our family heirlooms and the deed to the club on Nar Shadaa" She quickly wiped the tear away. She was trying to be strong.

She looked over "I wanted you to know that. I promised I would. I have to go. But you don't. You don't have to risk your ship or your life for this"

She waited.

He sat and waited for her to finish talking. It was obviously emotional for her to speak about, and she was having trouble just telling him about it. He listened intently and smiled and took her hand into his as she finished, he wanted her to know that he was there as the friend she needed. it was clear to him that she was in pain just talking about the experience and she was worried that he would get hurt, which was something he admired, but he gave his word.

" Bree, when we met on Tatooine, I told you that I would take you to Zeltros, there is nothing that you can tell me that is going to make me go back on my word. nothing. We are going to Zeltros, and we are grtting the things your family left for you." He chuckled a bit, unsure of what else to say to her. He had honestly expected something horrible, some dark secret that would haunt them for the rest of the journey, but this was nothing he was too worried about. The world wasn't controlled by the Sith any longer, but there were bound to be remnants on the planet that could cause issues.

She nodded, "there's more." She steeled herself " Are you familiar with the Shadow Dynasty?" Blue eyes now met his. There was no going back. There was no hiding what she had been, what she had allowed to happen and that she aS recognizable.

Orick friend either saw a zeltron or the Shadow Empress. Both were one and the same. Both could be worth credits. Her being with Orick could put him in danger.

She squeezed his hand. Goddess what a mess she had made. All because she dared fill a dream. And now again she was putting her wants and needs above another's safety.

She cared about Orick, his pleasant manner. His devotion to his rules.

He frowned a bit, I have heard of it, but I don't know much about it really." He shook his head as she looked at him. Whatever ti was she was obviously worried, she seemdd generally scared about what would, or could happen to them. He was sure that it would be bad, and it might even get him killed, but he gave his word that he would help her, and he wouldn't go back on his word.

She squeezed his hand and he let her hold it a slim smile on his face, " Bree, take your time, it's not the end of the galaxy. " He wasn't so sure that it wasn't, but he wasn't going to pressure her to talk to him about it until she was ready. He was just stupid enough to stand by his word until the job was done.

[member="Breanna Volsh"]

She sat back it was beginning of the end any hope that he would see more of her slipped way. "Its a long story. I met someone and fell in love a couple years ago. He was a good man. A mandalorian honourable. Loving. I was his companion. He got involved with the Shadows became the leaders right hand man. When the leader dis appeared Rex assumed control of the Shadows. I became the Shadow Empress of a criminal organization."

She didn't tell him how she faded away how she had longed for a day like today

"The darkness of the shadows took away all joy if you can imagine someone like me living in a world of darkness deceit and willingness to conquer. But the job changed Rex he left after a few months and never came back." Yes she had been abandoned. Imagine that. "There were attempts on my life the whole time. I had to learn to defend myself."

"In order fir me to leave I bribed a smuggler with some warehouse locations. He took it. I ended up on Tatooine just as I got word my parents were dead all this because I couldn't stay home. " Guilt. Terrible guilt

She said nothing more. Her emotions fell and all joy left. But she had finally told the truth

[member="Orick T'ane"]

He took everything she said in and thought about it for a while. He wasn't sure how to respond, she had kept a pretty serious secret from him, but he could understand why she would want to. If he was a less honorable of a guy, he could do something to her now and just claim whatever bounty she had on her head. He wasn't that guy though. He was exactly as good as his word. They would get onto and off of Zeltros alive and with the things she was told to get. " Listen, it would have been nice to know this ahead of time, but I won't get up and walk away. You asked me for help and I'm gonna help. It does change our dynamic a bit, I mean, I think you're a great girl, and I will still be your friend, but I have to wonder what else you haven't told me"

He would have to bee more careful around her for the rest of the trip, she had good reason to hide her past from him, but he was worried that she was going to keep more things from him. Those things could be his death if he wasn't careful.

[member="Breanna Volsh"]

"There's nothing else" why would she tell him if she didn't learn to trust. And now she had trusted ink fir this. This. "We should go. I don't think you want to be around me much longer."

She was nothing she had been the companion. But she bore the blame the responsibility. She kept her hands to herself and her emotions shut down. She was practiced at this. Being nothing.

Lesson learned.

He sighed and closed his eyes, he hadn't intended on coming across so brash. She was obviously hurt by what he had said. He didn't want to be the bad guy, but she had left him little choice . He had survived in this world mostly because he had been careful and she was stretching the limits of his ability to do business. He stod and held out his hand to her, " Come on, I still owe you dinner and stroll on this lovely beach."

He knew that there would be issues for the rest of the trip, and that would complicate things. She was his partner for this part of the journey and she had been nothing but respectful and pleasant to him, he could put his anger aside and make the rest of this trip as easy as he could for her. She deserved at least that much, and he wasn't exactly a saint either.

[member="Breanna Volsh"]

"Its ok. I understand. I don't want you to be uncomfortable and getting rid of me quickly will make things easier." She looked at the offered hand, she wanted to take it. She had needed this for two years. Two years of being in a,place where killing was a way of life.

Zeltrons shunned ill will. She had lived with it till it drained everything. Her eyes went from his hand to his fAce. At east he didn't hate her. Or he was good at hiding it. She started to reach for it and ,,stopped.

"Its not good for you to touch me. The pheromones. If you're hungry we can go" she wasn't her appetite was gone. She forced a smile at him.

Force yourself Bree you may make things worse. It's already worse.

"You should pick the restaurant Orick." She smiled again a bit more like before. The rest of this trip was going to be difficult. Very difficult.

[member="Orick T'ane"]

He frowned as she shied away from his hand, well Orick you kriffed this up pretty well. He wasn't sure how to keep this from falling apart completely. He sighed as he pulled his hand back. " There's no way to recover this is there, Bree?"

He wasn't sure how badly things had turned for the worse, but he was sure that it was only going to get worse if he pushed to fix them. He stepped back and turned to walk away, hoping she would follow as he walked down the boardwalk again. He hadn't really been that hungry at all, he really had been enjoying the day with her and while he felt bad about how the last few minutes, her disclosure was the type of thing that she either should have told him at the beginning or not at all. He couldn't change what had happened, all he could do was accept the new dynamic of their relationship and hope for the best.

[member="Orick T'ane"]

Bree was considering many things at the moment was there a way to recover, she just didn't know. Should she have told him sooner, she couldn't she wanted help she had to get home, should she have told him at all yes.

For she could not have him walk into someplace and have them tell him or worse him try to protect her when she didn't deserve it.

She kicked a small stone, "I guess it depends on how badly we want to mend it" She did follow. She didn't have to she could have just disappeared into the crowds, it was easy enough to do, and it would have ended all torment right then.

"I couldn't not tell you at this point. If you were to be harmed because of me it would kill me." It would devastate her emotionally first as he had been her this kind of kindness in so long.

She knew she was at much at fault in this as anyone. She shook her head, "Stop Orick" She hoped he would.

"You have to put yourself in my shoes try to see from my view, just as I try to see from yours. You asked for boundaries I try to stay within them. So for a moment close your eyes and pretend you're a Zeltron, a female, and in over your head. Think about someone you love just leaving you without a word" she paused, "without nothing. Then think about being in such a dark place that you can't see the light. Be a creature of joy and pleasure and put yourself in the dark Orick. Do you feel dead? Do you feel like you can't trust anyone because the one person you did trust smashed it? You're a stranger, for all I knew you were going to take me to the Shadows. But I had to take the risk for my family."

She frowned and swallowed the tears that threatened, "Can't you see, and then understand?" She was finally where she was closer, she couldn't see his face, couldn't read his mind.

"Be me instead of you."

She looked down and took a breath, so many words. "forgive me Orick" She stood there with her head down. What he would say to her would affect what she did next.

He listened to her quietly, trying to understand her motivation for why she had left out so many dangerous things about her. She was such a vibrant being most of the time that seeing her like this was actually hard to handle. she was a person that fed on emotions and the people around her, so to be surrounded by nothing but negative emotions and the darkness of a shadowy organisation had to be tough.

He understood about being in over his head easily enough. His whole life he had been over his head, it was just a way he had gotten used to living, hoping that the next decision wasn't the last one he made. " I can understand why you didn't tell me, Bree" He smiled at her and hoped that she saw the warmth in it, " Of course I forgive you"

[member="Breanna Volsh"]

She shrunk just a little then took a deep breath she had to shed these emotions they would damage her quicker than any blaster shot. She looked up rather sheepishly at him she had made mistakes, and she would probably make more.

But. Maybe. This would teacher her to be more honest up front, except for the risk. The Risk scared her, her species as known to be gullible too, and there were times she fit right into that little peg hole. She exhaled closed her eyes and within her mind she had to let this all go.

Then she did what Bree would normally do, she threw her arms around him and hugged him hard. "I'm sorry, I"m so so sorry" She hugged him so hard that she could have robbed him of all his body heat in those moments. Please don't be mad anymore she sounded almost desperate as she tried to shake off the darkness to press it into the dark place it belonged and let her step back out into the light.

[member="Orick T'ane"]

Orick smiled at her as she hugged him, he wasn't mad at her, not like she thought, but he was worried about how to deal with this new information about her. " It's ok, Bree. I'm not going to hold a grudge about it, it's in the past now." He was happy that she was relaxing again. The rest of the trip would have been painful if she kept up her wall and acted like she had before. He let her hold him for as long as she needed, trying to remain calm, hoping that his calm would help her as well.

"Lets not dwell on it any longer, we have a little more time here on the beach before we have to leave, how would you like to enjoy it?" He looked down at her and smiled. Things between them had changed, but they were still on a mission together and he wasn't about to break his promise of a fun day at the beach with her.
