Jasper’s already had one eye toward the female classmate (Kyra Perl) after what she did with the feathers while trying to focus finding out if he resonated with the wind earlier, but when he saw her messing another student with the water around her, Jasper focused all his attention on her and what was going on around her. She was becoming a distraction to Jasper in the teen mind and he didn’t like it. He didn’t like the distraction so much, that he began to wonder when she was going to splash water over to him. He knew there was nothing that could stop her from doing again despite the consequences kicking in afterward from the teachers in this class…or so he hoped.

And his hope wasn’t in vain; Because as he worried and figured, the classmate attempted to splash some water to him the water was stopped by the teacher using the force. Which made Jasper feel grateful to have her here. She also spoke to the young man about what he was doing and give him advice on the matter. “Thank you for the help madam.” He responded to the woman's assistance with a hint of a simile showing on his face and a tone of someone who was relieved coming out of his voice. Looking down at the water and closing his eyes, now noting having the worry of being distracted from the teenage girl. Jasper tapped into the force in order to get a connection to it.

“Be one with the water.” He repeatedly said those words in the hope to get better results. He released all the stress from his body, or tried to since he felt that he would have a better chance of becoming one with the water around him. He next drowned out all the unwanted noises and sounds in order to “hear” his heart beating. The water reacted as last time buy differently than before when he tried to use it with the force. The water began to move like a tide, small, with waves coming from Jasper, which were around him.

Glade apologized to 648, “hey… yep, nobody can do it all. But erm, different temperatures make water currents.” She bobbed her head from her chair, if he needed more he'd probably need to ask a Master. If 648 could sense, Glade’s immense mental strength was here to help him anyway it could through the force, from subtle to grounding. Moving to be by his side for a while in case he needed her, non of the help was forced or overbearing, a presence he could utilize.

The Third Lesson - Earth Element

Valrel was still running the lesson, everything slowed down even further, Sera Inkari began taking an active role, Glade well and truly out of her element. The Earth lesson was taking a long time to setup, intentionally so to represent the nature and feeling of the element. Patience. The calm nature of it increased to be one of a routine steadiness, in the background, the foundation under their feet to everything else.

All noises and movement stopped on the walls, the light shows on the wall became a bland but warming brown and orange light. Earth wasn’t just brought out of nothing, or flowing in from the walls. It was brought in pots. Jedi Masters and Knights made a very obvious show of putting earth under the students feet, encouraging them to help pack it down and get their hands or themselves dirty! Alongside the running water channels, they were laying out soil, planting plants in the large dome room at very specific areas. The room wasn’t overcrowded, things were arranged and spaced out deliberately, to end up creating the beginnings of a sparse arboretum effect. Which is what this place may finally become when their lesson was done. The elements in harmony.

Among the plants on show, they were shown a beautiful fragile Amber Fern, A solid Purple Kings Crown they could sit on, A common but tasty Jogan Fruit and a few others of different exotic species, plenty of space to move and walk around them all. They could even “help yourself to any fruit.” Valrel gave encouragement, a cluster of very sweet juna berries hanging from a tempting leaf.

Snails pace. Masters of the Order and Knights would stop with the students and explain the plants to them, they talked of how to plant into soil, how to care for the plants, what worked best in what soil, how to keep insects away. Seasonal effects in different climates. How to really begin to CONNECT with the natural world, both in the force and through their actions. “Earth requires attention, action and dedication. Patience.” Valrel explained. Some Jedi didn’t ever really ‘get’ the connection because it was the foundation to all elements. It required direct action and a steady routine to make use of.

How could you manipulate the Earth? Sera Inkari answered that question. “The Master’s of this technique can cause tremors, grow plants quickly, use gravity to their advantage, connect to understand plants innately, part the earth, force bond with animals or life around them, and some are rumored to make sand from rock. All of these examples require the subtle use of other elements or a deep understanding of the foundation of the natural world,” her dogmatic voice came steadily as if reading from a text. She would answer any questions any had to gain insight.

Plant Surge was demonstrated for those that wanted to watch by a Master, increasing the rate the plants would grow at, taking careful practice and training to connect with each individual root, leaf or cell, encouraging them to try. It wasn’t an overgrown mess, but a steady increase in leaf size or stem from the energy poured into it. For those who wanted more practical demonstration, alter environment pressure was applied to parts of the packed soil to cause a breaking and a vibrating effect. Obviously differing pressures in such small amounts of soil didn’t shake the room, but it did cause vibrations over a very small bucket-sized area, and breaking of surface soil at the top. A beginners manual on how to cause localized micro-earthquakes or just vibrate the floor through pressure.

For those really observant, or bored, two furry Squalls were hopping around the floor, sniffing everything and perhaps the students, their floppy ears cautiously bouncing around, ready for attempts at animal bonding or animal speak. Speaking of the floor. A subtle shield was now around the entire dome, preparing it for the effects of connecting with both earth and soon fire.

Now that Sera Inkari Sera Inkari got the props ready for what she most wanted out of this session, it was time for Varindar to get closer to one of those juna berry plants, while Phalsi Drynchen Phalsi Drynchen , Kyra Perl Kyra Perl , Jasper Candos Jasper Candos , Amani Serys Amani Serys , Milla Caranthyr Milla Caranthyr and Subject 648 Slipknot Subject 648 Slipknot all stood there patiently. Patience was key, both in hospitality and in encouraging the roots to absorb the nutrients from the soil - you couldn't be a good five-star hotel manager if you were impatient with the guests and the staff. Sure she could get a little dirty by the end, and the air around the plant would get gradually drier, but here it was that she could have the plant bear more fruit than would naturally be the case. That would be something of use in the hotel, especially because customers could be asking for eco-sensitive ingredients, and the best way to get them is home-growing them, she thought, assuming the use of Plant Surge for the purposes of growing food wouldn't dispense her from respecting the regulations surrounding bio food.

Kyra's attention was fleeting, her fingers plucking at the sudden supply of juicy fruits and pulling them from their stems. "Uuuuuum, I think this was suppose to be about rocks and stuff. This is all just food," she said to now one in particular. Fruit exploded across her fingers as she nibbled freely, leaving behind faint stains on her finger tips and tongue.

She didn't even try this technique, the girl writing it off the moment it started. She felt nothing from the ground underneath her. Not a pulse of life, a sliver of the force.

Nada.

Not unlike when she tried force healing, actually. Kyra quickly found she didn't resonate with the practice at all. She gorged herself instead, finding delight in the luscious fruits. "Pst, got anymore of the purple ones?" She asked Amani Serys Amani Serys

Phalsi was feeling unsteady still, and did not attempt the earth connection, choosing instead to watch the others with a waning smile. The fruit looked enticing, but as did certain dangerous things in the world. Besides that, patience was something that Phalsi did not readily call a friend, and it seemed her focus would solely be on air. Her hands were linked, watching the others with interest and listening to the masters speak about the element.

Damian was never so grateful for his umbrella as he was in this world. Normally the implement didn’t serve its original function. Soaking wet and always raining the entire planet was nothing a mudball. A frown covered his face as he felt the water on his shoulders still. A gloved hand lifted up swiping away the liquid content sending it flying. The suit was resistant to water and stains but it was better to not risk it.

He had been on a tour, being shown the sights by a rather boring man with a droning voice when he dipped down a corridor to explore a bit misplacing his group. Of course that didn’t matter much to him as he examined the structure a little bit curiously. Soon of course he became displaced, not lost, and was wandering aimlessly. Luckily for him he had a gadget for that. His wrist chronometer flared to life the life signs detector picking up a group nearby. Good. Moving down the corridor his face lit up as he felt a familiar presence. Turning a corner he saw his target, bending his knees to keep his body low and under line of sight he crept forward and pounced through a closing set of stone slats. Great now he was locked in. He lurked in a corner for a bit before creeping forward.

Idly a hand landed on Kyra’s shoulder. Silent Damian stood behind her as if he’d been there the entire time. “You got something on your…” Damian whispered pointing at a spot on his lip mirroring the girl. Yes Damian was there the entire time.

Amani had assumed, given her previous successes as well as her base understanding of the element, that earth would be no issue. She confidently reached out to the soil only to be met with a dud. She gave a confused look and attempted to recenter, shifting focus towards the plant.

Still nothing. Amani started to feel frustrated, turning towards Sera Inkari Sera Inkari , about to make up some excuse, something about the environment not being set up right, but saw others working the element just fine. She let out a deep sigh and sat down, defeated and perplexed. Amani barely heard Kyra Perl Kyra Perl ask her about the fruit as she mulled over the lesson. “Uh, what? Oh.” she picked off one of the purple fruits near her and tossed it Kyra’s way apathetically.

When one the squalls hopped over near her, Amani’s excitement returned, reaching her hand out to the small fluffy creature in an effort to create a connection. The squall’s nose wriggled as it sniffed at her, it seemed comfortable, but Amani still felt no sign of the Force between them. Finally resigning to her failure, at least now there was a little buddy to keep her company as she waited for the next lesson.

Kyra yelped, globing a wet purple fruit right between Damian Starchaser Damian Starchaser 's forehead. It stuck there for a moment before sliding down, leaving a purple trail behind.

She gaped.. then burst out laughing, her voice quickly muffled by the dirt and fauna that had sprung out of no where. "Shhhhhhhhh," she chastised, as if he was the one being disruptive all along. "We're learning here!" Well, others were. She laughed again, pointing to his head.

"You any good with this?" She asked, holding up a handful of dirt. "It's just mud!"

Damian felt the spot on his head and wiped at it with a bit of cloth looking down at the girl. Oh boy did he already hate it here. They could have at least found a beach with a bar to teach at… he always did.

Kneeling besides Kyra he smiled and patted her on the head. “I have an associate, married now, who really likes dirt. You see his species was more vegetable than animal.” It was an old friend.

Damian dipped his hands into the mud and felt around at it. “But he explained something to me that I hadn’t realized. Dirt isn’t just dirt, and I guess that means mud isn’t just mud.” Globbing a bit of mud on his hand he pointed to the girl and stuck a glob of mud on her head. “Micro organisms breaking down decaying organic matter live and thrive in dirt. These same organisms turn dirt into soil that plants thrive in.”

Damian shrugged, unsure about how helpful he was actually being. “You try again, and we’ll see about throwing a big beach party back home.”

Kyra Perl Kyra Perl

Oh. Well if you put it that way.

Kyra was historically vulnerable to bribes, even shallow, pretty ones she could easily get on her own. It was all about the motivation for her. Her step in uncle knew that a little too well. Kyra turned back to the mud in hand, a scowl upon her brow. "There are?" She rub the soil through her fingers.

With that little bit of direction, she understood better what to feel for. Her mind opened up for little signs of life-- tiny pinpricks invisible to the naked eye. Slowly, they appeared for her, lighting up one after another until the dirt in her hands shined as vibrantly as a flame. "Whoa." She looked up at Damian wildly, her mind a bit blown.

"It's like taking spice at a dance room."

Damian raised an eyebrow at the girl’s comment and gave a disapproving look. He doubted it worked, and if it did the entire effect was ruined when Kyra got excited and his face lit up in response. “We’re going to have a chat about that comment later,” Damian said. He wasn’t letting her off the hook that easy.

Closing his eyes he saw like she did, it was difficult for him, more difficult than it probably should be. “So let's think, what can you do with this?” It was too much concentration for him. “If you look where people have been and upturned the mud and soil there is generally more active. The creatures are disturbed, so it could indicate a trail or recent passage.”

He lost it, the image of the world around him. Instead he opened his eyes and took a deep breath. That was something right? He doubted it. Other Jedi would have more profound things to teach. Perhaps he should have just made a comment about life being in the most unexpected places. That could probably be profound right? Instead he gave his final thought, “Sorry it doesn’t help you with your current problem, except maybe giving you a fresh outlook.”

Kyra's brows pulled in as she observed Damian's struggle, the small echos of energy in the ground tingling up her fingers, leaving her strangely plugged in to the world around her. She didn't realize that she was reading him clearer than she rightly ought to, the understanding simply echoed across the force, from his mind to hers.

She didn't understand it, but that was okay. She was very good at showing people images, and if he couldn't maintain it in his mind, she would do it for him.

She reached out, a muddy finger tip touching his temple without permission. At once, his perception would double. He was no longer just in his body, but her own as well. Small things like the cramp in her foot, her wet pant cuffs, the chill of her damp hair on the back of her neck, it all came unfiltered through. Her skill was unrefined, but poignant. She closed her eyes and that all was wiped away. ... even the man's own sense of his body (whoops!).

The world exploded in color and light, the girl bringing the life found inside the soil back to the forefront of her thoughts. .... The image shifted and shimmered, Kyra manipulating it and amplifying the picture it to a dazzling degree. See! Psychedelic.

A flickering occupying memory of a real psychedelic experience followed suit-- the quick taste of sugar, spice, and pounding music. And then it was all gone, her hand dropping as she felt her slip.

She grinned, her cheeks red with a flush of effort. He would feel her lingering intention clearly. Be happy, he could see it just fine too! "Idunno, it's more fun to just eat the berries," she declared. She wiped off her fingers and plucked another into her mouth.

A subtle burst of sweetest would hit his tongue.

It was a scattered mess, but a pleasant one as things went. Damian smiled awash with pride as he saw the kaleidoscope vision in his mind's eye. He didn’t like people intruding on his thoughts, but he knew the girl meant nothing malicious. An arm reached up and wrapped around her as the taste of fruit echoed, as good a word as any, in his mouth. The taste lingering for a moment.

Sitting for a moment, smile still on his face, Damian leaned down and in a low voice as to not be overheard he said, “We’re still going to have a chat about responsible party habits.” Reassuringly he squeezed a bit harder on her to let her know he wasn’t mind, not that she wouldn’t. It was the human thing to do and he didn’t have empathic abilities.. “This isn’t getting you out of that.”

The Fourth Lesson - Fire Element

As the elements drew on, most had found the one they sort, and already gained what they needed. There was a reason this was left till last. Some students had begun to depart or lose interest, and you needed very careful focus for fire, but also it was last because they needed a steady calm mood, a good foundation and a safe shielded environment. Dogma balanced fires destructive nature in Inkari’s teachings, but others found their own way to harness the flame.

Earth had given foundation, both beneath their feet but also on the steady walls, ceiling and floor. Everything was grounded, with the water still running nearby. Shields. That one big shield now became several small ones. Dry wood was taken and placed at the edges of the room, with a protective bubble appearing around it from a small generator. So no matter the result, the fire was not escaping, only what was within the bubble was ignitable. Each small bubble was surrounded by a stream and a sprinkler above it. With Master's standing by every single student to assist and direct them, stopping any attempts to ignite fire away from the bubble.

Fire, her domain, Sera walked around the bubbles for anyone that was left and chatted to the few students remaining. “Fire is destruction, renewal, dangerous and unpredictable. Warming and comforting. Cleansing and creative.” The walls did not display an inferno but a steady campfire, “reach out to the dry wood, be the ignition of the air or the material. In its base form fire needs fuel, the air needs ignition and needs your focus to light it.” Be the match...

"Controlling fire accurately is all but impossible, only shaping and directing it is likely,” though living fire was possible for some, and some students got to the stage where they could paint fire or fed the force as the fuel to burn. Her own way of extending the life of the flame and directing it subtly was limiting its fuel source. She watched each student and assisted their technique, quick to block any mishaps in a force bubble of her own as was every master.

ALL THE STUDENTS may struggle to light anything outside of those protective bubbles, because elsewhere Master's were protectively bubbling or creating a barrier around them, and everything else for that matter. It was as safe an environment as was possible.

“Care.” She rolled up her sleeves showing the scars, in the light of the embers and fire of the wood, you could see the burns and the scars across her cheek. “Respect and care.” She sternly told everyone. There was a seriousness in Sera usually but in this most of all as she looked between the padawans.

Earth lesson had been about as successful as water lessons. Milla was able to get several plants to grow and start to flower. A skill that would definitely need improving, but it was a start. Now the lesson was taking a different turn, to a more destructive element.

Milla's eyes turned to the shields that surrounded the dry wood. This next task seemed like more of a challenge than the first three. Not only was the element not present, but they had to create it themselves. Like Sera Inkari Sera Inkari hinted at, they had to be the match. Luckily Milla had a plan that involved previous lessons on a different planet. She stepped up to the shield, closing her eyes and letting a slow breath she focused on the dry wood. Using herntappas training, she pushed as much heat as she could towards one small spot on the wood. More and more heat was transferred onto that spot until finally, a whisp of smoke, then a little flame flickered to life. The process was tedious, but the result almost made her jump in excitement.

The small flame slowly devoured the wood around it, barely expanding from there. Sera had told that they couldn't fully control fire but rather guide and direct it. Feeding more heat into the flame, Milla then reached out and began to try to coax it in one direction. Difficult at first, but she quickly began to grasp it quicker than the other elements as she slowly guided the flame down the piece of wood.

Jasper continued focusing on the water lesson and was relieved when he felt he was able to make some progress on it after the he was left alone. He saw something into this element and make a mental reminder to himself to look more into this element. Who knows, maybe this was the right element for him to use in conjunction with the force…

However, the thoughts on the element disappeared along with the water itself and Jasper quickly realized what that meant for him and the other students that were taking the class alongside him. He witnesses the change’s around him and took in the lights on the walls. The second he saw the color on the walls changed to brown and orange light and used the process of elimination on the element lessons that were already done, Jasper realized what the third element lesson was going to be on.

“Earth...” He said silently when he put the thoughts together. Examining the changes made around made him, the pots coming into the room, the earth coming in on the floor below him, the soil being laid out, and much more only solidified his realization. When the room change was done Jasper looked over to some of the plants that were seen by others. One, in particular, the Amber Fern, he took an interest in by looking at the detailed features. He tried to remember If he saw this plant or any of the plants in general from his book that he would read in the library back at his home planet but to no avail. He heard the information given to him and the other students about the elements of the earth itself and immediately became interested in it as he thought this element best suits him. He liked to believe he was what the things that were required to use the element and that made him cautiously optimistic going into this lesson.

After seeing the Jedi master use the Plant Surge force technique, Jasper decided to try his best to copy it. Looking around for the best plant to try this technique on, Jasper found one after a few minutes of searching. A small plant that seems to be growing but not too much. It was something that he felt could be altered in a way to were you could see the difference with time. Getting on his knees and taking a deep breath, Jasper put his hand around the plant, making sure his hands aren’t too close. He wanted to make sure that he gave the plant some space. He didn’t want to change anything on the plant until he began to use the force on it.

He finally used the force on the plant and mentally reminding himself to be patient with this plant and lesson. He kept himself calm throughout the whole time with the use of breathing and motivation, reminding himself why he went to the SJO in the first place. It took a while, a LONG while, but he was able to make some sort of progress on the plant.

Soon his concentration was interrupted by the change of the room into the final element, fire. He saw the changes being made and decided it would be best to take a bit of a break and watch how the other students were going to handle this one before he did it himself.

Kyra gave a tired look to Damian as the lesson switched and carried out, the girl clearly fresh out of mental juice to try another. Instead she slumped into his side, no different than she had as a child, and watched as others tried it.

"...I hate tapas," she announced to him with no explanation. Across the room, sparks of flames jumped and roared-- each dispersing harmlessly against the invisible walls of the shields. It was pretty, no doubt. And annoying. She knew she wouldn't be able to do it, so she didn't try at all.

She looked down, plucking at the watch on his wrist instead. It was much funner to play with. Sometimes he had little holographic games programmed inside them.

Damian Starchaser Damian Starchaser

Should Damian had encouraged the girl to try? Probably. Was there a lesson here? Probably. Still he felt her slump against him and instinctively wrapped his arm around her shoulders and give her a reassuring squeeze. As she played with his watch he smiled and thought about how horrible of an influence he was. She should be studying right now, practicing, trying. Instead here she was with good ole reliable Uncle Damian playing hologames.

Damian shut the emotion down. He was good at blocking thoughts and feelings and didn’t want Kyra to feel it and get upset. Of course she’d probably feel him closing up and assume something was wrong.

Better solution. Damian reached out a hand. “You know,” he said waving his hand in front of Kyra, fingers going wild. “Fire needs to stay moving to live.” He twisted at the wrist and kept moving the entire time trying to emulate a flame with his hand. “If it ever sits still it goes out.” Leaning down he added, “kind of like you.” At least when she was little; a ball of energy. Damian wiggled his entire body for a moment pretending to be a flame and shaking the girl at his side.

"In the past, I used to teach cooking using pyrokinesis at my five-star hotel on Trandosha. If anyone wants some recipes using pyrokinesis, you can always look at the Iokath Cookbook later"

Once the juna berries were ripe for picking, Varindar set out to get a bowl so that she can safely put them for cooking pastry glaze. Glade Glade , whm she met years ago on Trandosha, would probably find the pastry glaze tasty, but again, that was a different use of pyrokinesis: here she was to instead light a fire by feeding heat to the wood used to light the cooking fire, rather than feeding heat directly onto the berries as she usually would in an actual kitchen. Meanwhile, other people seemed to be struggling, with small sparks flying everywhere, and not amounting to much, if any, heat. Just that cooking was a use of pyrokinesis that she feels is underestimated by Jedi. Even then Varindar would feel right at home using pyro because of the occasions she had of using it in the kitchen, but she wasn't one to fight on a regular basis. As for the Iokath Cookbook, Varindar regretted not being able to bring a copy of it, even an electronic one.

"Pyrokinesis can be reversed if you can instead cause the molecules to calm down, or otherwise take energy away"

Kyra laughed as she was jostled, grabbing at his wrist for a moment before the game played noises of defeat. She casted him a wry look, her lips pursuing as she gave up on ownership of his wrist.

"If that were true I could never sleep. Or well I could, but then it wouldn't be called sleep-- just death." She sat up, flicking speaks of mud at him. "There's no point in this, I already found my element-- wind-- do you think this means I can fly?" She seemed to honestly consider the concept for a moment. The Force was capable of a great many things, why not this one?

"Hey," she declared, standing up. "Toss me."
