Lost in Space

[member="Kay Arenais"]

LOCATION: Zakuul

A gray box with a man frozen in it. Float in space in between worlds. No one knows how long it’s been there. Just floating among the stars.

The man inside the block of carbonite was safe from the radiation of space and time. Hawk was neither awake or asleep. He just drifted along. Awaiting to be rescue from his tomb. Everything has changed around him while he’s been trapped. People he loved has grown and died without him being aware

Only his strength in the force has kept him alive this long. Now even that is fading. If he is not found soon he will perish.

"Well this is different than I pictured it." Lori looked out of the viewscreen as the Jaster's Sparrow dropped out of hyperspace just outside of orbit of Zakuul. It was her first time being there, and from the broadcast that [member="Kay Arenais"] had sent out, this was where she was.

"What did you think it looked like?"
Arla was her newest co-pilot, sent over by [member="Kaine Australis"] to assist Lori while her crew were on leave.

"Well...sort of more like Coruscant."

"Do you not like it?"

"No, no, it looks nice. It's just...not what I expected. That's all."

Arla's hands moved fast as she dealt with communications. The Zakuulan military had already picked them up on their sensors and were getting prepared to escort them. But then something else showed up on the Sparrow's own sensors. "That's odd. A carbonite slab is floating out there on it's own."

Lori got up from her chair and almost climbed on the console to peer out of the viewscreen. "Where?"

"I'm going to take us in closer. Permission to bring the slab inside for inspection?"

"Yeah! Go for it! I wanna see what it is."

Arla used the thrusters to gently bring them closer to the slab that [member="Hawk Solo"] lay within. Keeping the shields up, she opened the cargo bay door and let the slab float inside. It dropped like a rock once it was within their artificial gravity field. Then the bay door was closed.

Lori bounded down the steps. Yet before she got to the bottom, Arla was grabbing her shoulder. "Not a good idea. You take us in and follow the escort, I'll inspect our guest. We don't need you to get killed."

"Ohhhh....fiiiiiiine." With a slight huff Lori headed back up to the cockpit.

Without a glance back, Arla headed to the cargo bay. She studdied the slab of carbonite. There were life signs, but it was fading. It'd be useless if the person within died. So she imputed the code to reverse the carbonite freezing.

When the final bit of code was imputed into the carbonite block. It flickered to life. A little steady humming sound came from it. It began to glow red. The block began to slowly melt away revealing a young man. The man was lifeless for a long moment.

His eyes flutter open and shut a few times. His body violently shudders from the shock of the removal. He gasp for breath. His mind is in a whirl wind. Memories flooding back to him. Many had gone mad in their first once release from carbon. Not him. Hawk was strong than that.

His lips parched “it worked?!” He said quiety.

Arla watched as the carbonite melted down, revealing [member="Hawk Solo"] inside. She didn't recognize him in her databanks, which was partly a good thing. As he shook she held him down so that he didn't hurt himself. "Apparently so. Just lay still. You've been in there a long time. Counterclock says 28 standard years."

Lori heard his voice, only because she was straining her ears to listen. All while she was following their escort to Zakuul's surface. "Who is it?! Is he okay?!!"

"Patience Captain! You'll find out soon enough!" Arla looked down to the man. No doubt he couldn't see her at all. "I'm going to get you to the infirmary. Then you can get some much needed nutritian and answer a few questions." She helped him up with unnatural ease and then guided him to the infirmary.

28 years. That wasn’t possible. He cock his head to the right. His hearing must been affect by the carbon. It’s probably one of those side effects that no one talked about. Everyone was always more concerned with the hibernation blindness and possible going mad. They just didn’t list it.

He felt warm hand and arm around him. “Thank you.” He said softly. It hurt to talk at the moment. He was so thirsty. “For freeing me.” He said to his rescuers as he was guided to the ship infirmary. He didn’t care who saved him. They could be Imperials, sith or whoever. He was grateful to be alive. Slowly he sat down on the bunk. “Who are you? Where am I?

((wrote up my post last night, but then I lost it. Was too tired to write it up again. It was after 11pm))

"You're welcome." After [member="Hawk Solo"] sat down, Arla fetched him a glass of water. Given that he couldn't see, she took his hand and put the glass within it. "Drink it slowly. My name is Arla. You're on the Jaster's Sparrow. The Captain is guiding us into Zakuul. Does that planet mean anything to you?" It was an easy enough guess, considering that the carbonite slab was floating right near the planet's orbit.

"Is he okay?!! Who is he?!!" Lori was trying to get info while she was piloting in the cockpit. Already she had almost clipped one of the escort vessels, of which she just gave a sheepish grin of apology when the pilot looked in through the glass.

"Focus Captain!!"

"Fiiiiiiiiiine." Lori just gave a huff. It'd only be a few minutes now before they'd land anyways. But those few minutes felt like they'd take FOREVER.

Hawk’s hand wrapped around the cool glass of water. He took slowly sip of water. Relishing the feeling of it sliding down his dry throat.
It tasted so good. He fought the urge to just down.

“Hi Aria. I’m Hawk Solo.” He told her. “Zakuul?” He says that takes another sip of the water. “No, I don’t think. My memories are sort of jumbled up. The last thing I remember was being on my ship it was under attack.” He pauses. Closes his eyes tightly as he relived those moments.

“Pirates were attacking the ship. The escape pods were jammed. The ship didn’t have long it was going to explode. Killing me! So I had to improvise.” He licks his lips. He finishes the last of the water. “I ran to the cargo bay. We had a carbonite unit. I know it sounds crazy. It was the only thing I could think of.! So I jumped in it. Through the switch and bang. I was safely in case in carbon.”

"You froze yourself in carbonite to escape from pirates? Although that was partially smart, it also led you to be trapped for nearly three decades. Who do you work for? Any next of kin to be notified?" Arla put a blanket around his shoulders in case he got cold.

"I'll get you some food once we land. Gotta take it slow though or you'll just throw it up."

“FRACK ME! He shouts. He hadn’t missed heard her. He had been frozen for almost 30 years.

“30 years. Seriously. I don’t even know if they’re still around. I was the silver Jedi. My next kin...who know..ummmm my parents are probably dead. Ahhhh..The only other person I can think of right now would be Kay. But who knows if she still around. She always needs to be rescued by somebody. I was one of those who would be doing the rescuing. So chance are she’s not around.”

He knew he was babbling. He couldn’t help it. The realization that he lost 30 years of his life shot him to the core. He wondered what he looked like. Did he look like he was 58? He was still carbon blind. “Stupid question time? Did I age? Do I look like I’m 58?” He asked Aria.

"The Silver Jedi are still around. Though they have moved to center around Kashyyyk. But as for Kay. You may need to be more specific. What is her last name?"

[member="Hawk Solo"] would have known her last name to be Larr. He wasn't around when she got married.

"And no, you did not appear to age."

Lori heard the shouting, which made her want to land the Sparrow RIGHT NOW. So she hurried it a little, leaving the Sparrow to land with a big thud. "OOPS!" She quickly shut off the engibes, powering them down and thanking the escort. Then as quick as a flash she was running down the stairs to the infirnary. "What'd I miss?!"

[member="Loreena Arenais"]

“Larr..Kay Larr.” He says as the ship lands hard almost throwing him off the bunk. Whoever was flying needed to learn how to land. He was about to a sarcastic comment when he heard Lori voice. “At least that was her name. She might be married. Her name could have changed.”

Lori's eyes nearly bugged out of her skull. "How do you know my mom??"

Arla gave her a cautionary look. Normally Lori hid who her parents were so that she'd be less of a target. But now that they were on Zakuul, there was more safety. "He says that she's his next of kin. And that his name is Hawk Solo. Do you recognize that name?"

"Hawk?...Hawk...umm...sorta? Maybe? I dunno. My mom knows so many people. We should let her know that we're here. But after he rests some. And eats. Besides! I really gotta hear this story." Lori had missed it all about how he got in the carbonite.

[member="Loreena Arenais"]

“Her and I were close friends. You ever have friends that you can’t remember meeting them but you know them all your life. That’s how Kay and I were. Wait a minute. Kay is your Mom. Wow Kay had a kid. .....”

His stomach rumbles at the mention of food. “This is so strange...I’m 28....Kay has a grown daughter .” He chuckles. He blinks his blues trying to see his surroundings. He could see shapes.

"She had two kids actually. Me and my twin brother Caedyn. But yeah, we're almost 19! Pretty full grown, I think."

"I'll get him some food. Keep an eye on him."

"Oh I will!" Lori slid up a chair to sit right next to the bed. "My mom is going to be SO excited! But tell me...how did you get way out here?"

Arla smirked a little as she headed off to the kitchen to warm up a small meal.

He could sense Lori sitting next to him. She sounded pretty. He flashes her a lopsided smile as he begins to tell her the story. “My ship was under attacked by pirates. Hyper was dead. Communication array was destroyed.. Shields were down. It was looking pretty grim. So I rush back to the escape pod. Fracking pod was jammed. Wouldn’t open. I came up with a brilliant plan. I would place myself in carbon. It would protect my body. The pirates would ignore it. Probably thought that it was wreckage.”

He pulls the blanket. “It worked. I survived...I just didn’t plan how to get out of it.”

"Wow...brilliant and...not so brilliant at the same time. Would the pirates of killed you? Why did they attack? Who did you work for? I betcha you could work for my Mom! She'd have a job for you! Since you're good friends, she'd want you to stay."

Lori had a million and one questions for [member="Hawk Solo"] . "What was my Mom like when she was younger? Did she drink lots of tea back then? She's addicted to it now. Everyone knows."

[member="Loreena Arenais"]

“Yeah Kay and tea goes hand in hand. I think she had tea in her bottle instead of milk when she was a baby.” He jokes. He ignore some of Lori’s questions. He wanted to get laid of the land before making any commitment. He wasn’t in any shape to make any decisions right now.

He stretched his body and yawned. He was tired and hungry. He needed to get some rest. He lay back on the bunk. “Funny, after 30 years of hibernation, I still need to sleep. I could use some of Kay’s healing tea.” He hoped that Kay was still a healer.

Lori snickered at [member="Hawk Solo"] 's joke about her mom. "You are so right! She's hardly ever without her tea. I dunno if she'd survive at all without it."

She chewed the inside of her cheek as He mentioned wanting to sleep. "Not so sure if you should do that right here. It might seem suspicious. Why don't we take you to my Mom?"

[member="Loreena Arenais"]

Hawk arch his right eyebrow. “Ok let’s go and see her.” He slowly puts his feet on floor. He stands a little unstable. He places his hand on Lori ‘s shoulder to steady himself. “I might have to lean on you to get to her. Hope she isn’t too far away,”

He didn’t think Lori knew how drained his body was after the carbon. “Maybe Aria could help.” Lori didn’t look strong enough to support his weight.

Lori helped [member="Hawk Solo"] as he got to his feet. She then moved his arm to wrap around her shoulders. "I'm not sure where exactly she is here. But she's somewhere. We'll find out."

Arla soon approached with a bowl of stew in hand. "Oh...leaving now, are we? You sure that you don't want to eat this first?"
