Major Faction Member Requirement Raised To 6 Members From 5

And what if we don't despite trying, Tef? TEC should have a dominion finished by then. What happens then? We lose all control of planets just because of an OOC thing? I don't feel that's fair. People who put work into things shouldn't have it stripped away just because the board is growing.

Okay, Shapers, how about this: Considering the last incarnation of Velori was actually a Master Shaper, I can play that angle again here. She then goes back to her people and says 'can I hire your help?' in order to forge her Empire. Essentially, you guys could be a sort of subfaction with total autonomy, and that way we both get what we want. I'll give you guys some choice of planets beyond my only requirement of Naboo. How does that sound?

The Galactic Republic is more than happy to take in more 'Sub-Groups' and make compromises with their member base. In this way we will provide you with Military protection and the opportunity to engage the galaxy at large in territorial expansion. Expansions which can be shared with your Sub-Groups territory as well. The Republic is a Commonwealth of Sovereign Territories that works together for the common good. This extends to any Minor Faction who wants to join. Aurelia, Darron, and I are more than willing to hash out any Treaty Signings and compromises.

Thanks. :D

I appreciate your offer Velori as a member of the Shapers, but we had our own ideas on what we wanted to do. Not something we can do as a "subfaction" of someone else. But its up to Haru really, its his faction. I just wanted to see it succeed, not be shot in the heart by a slug.

This is an interesting proposition, though there may be a problem, as Kro Var has been established by Tef to be in square J26, which is my highest requirement.

There is also that, but if it comes to that, I will come back to this and possibly reconsider.

Understandable. I could argue in favour of Bespin, perhaps, and maybe Hoth as an extreme training ground...

Sounds good. I figured it would just be a suggestion; that way we can both move forward onto things we wanted to do. :)

This is my biggest fear of imposing this rule.

However. Factions come and go. None of us can simply expect every faction that's conducted a Dominion or Invasion to stay on the map forever. With that said, I agree with you that work put in shouldn't be taken away. For now, I simply recommend doing everything you can to make sure your Faction in question meets the 10 member requirement by the end of the month.

There is an addendum to all of this, however. Staff & I will be discussing the legitimacy of this ruling at length, and we will be reading every complaint, every suggestion, every comment in this thread. To those of you who haven't yet made your voice heard and are reading this, I suggest you do.

I think there should be something in between 10 and 0, They don't have to be on the map or even do everything a major faction. Perhaps what the minor factions should be is the groups somewhere in between, I think its not fair even though we have grown. It is hard for groups to get people even though the site is flourishing. I think its unreasonable to expect it and that we should have some sort of step that is between and gets some of the perks, such as their own forums but they don't need to be on the map and such. I think that a minor faction or some other tier system is the best approach.

Perhaps a minor faction can engage in Skirmishes? As they are smaller and cannot engage in full on Invasion?

There is. Your comment confuses, me, though. Minor Factions have all the perks of Major Factions with the exception of the Map and all things acquired by being on the map, including Invasions & Dominions.

Elayne raises a valid point.

While we do get many new members, a large percentage join the current major factions. Especially the Jedi and Sith. These factions get larger, while the smaller factions don't really change much as members join or go inactive.

I agree with Elayne that a firm definition of 'Minor Factions' needs to be implemented. With both the Strengths and Weaknesses considered and spelled out for the community.

Also.

Suggestion 2: A 'Beginners platform' should be considered for entry into the Map Game. As the current Invasion strategy revolves around PCvPC combat? It simply a game of numbers. He who zergs, wins. ...Thusly. If both sides were to considering adding a 'Cap' to the contest? IE: Max 12 v 12. Then you can create a 'Platform' from which even the smallest 'Major Faction' can begin to be competitive.

2 cents. :D

Ohh... well I feel sheepish.

Well, maybe you can at least allow a minor faction a capital and minimal influence cloud? That way new comers can at least see that a faction exists. There isn't an area where minor factions can have there own area where new players can see to advertise their existence.
