BIOGRAPHY
In her early years she idolised her older sister - who actually left for the Jedi Academy on Corellia before she was born. Raised on stories of her sister’s rise in the Green Jedi Order, she only wanted to emulate her.
So it came as a crushing blow that she was rejected by the Order as she was considered Force Sensitive but not enough to be admitted. But that adoration remained and one day she vowed she’d be good enough to follow in her sister’s footsteps.
Then came the fateful day that a member of the Order came to say that her older sister’s Master had died in a freak electrical storm and that his Padawan was missing. Her family assumed the worst and after six months held a funeral service for their presumably dead daughter.
Melori re-applied to the Order and they allowed her in. If it was because of a change in her abilities or out of pity she never knew. All she wanted to do was fill the void in her parent’s life that her eldest sister’s death had created. And her two older brothers and on remaining older sister - none of whom were Force Sensitive.
Her progress was poor and she considered quitting but refused to simply walk away until she’d proven she was as good as her eldest sister. For now the adoration had turned to bitterness. How dare her sister die and put the family through so much pain. How dare she be so gifted when her own efforts were so meagre. How dare the teachers compare her all the time and point out her failings? How dare her parents wish she were as good as Corvus?
And then came news that her sister was alive and well and on Ossus. Her parents and siblings were overjoyed. But not Melori. She quit the Cornelian Jedi Order and returned home. Bitterness had grown and festered into hatred. That hatred was fuelled by stories of her sister’s rapid rise in the ranks of the Jedi. Soon she as a Knight and then a Master. Then she was running the Academy on Ossus before being admitted to the Jedi Council at some ungodly age.
Worst still she’d heard stories that her eldest sister had visited Corellia but chose not to visit. How she hated her! All that pain she was inflicting on their, no her parents. This sister of hers deserved no parents. And then one day there was talk that her sister was coming to visit. But she didn’t turn up. No, she stopped at the space port to recruit a new Jedi. More important than her family it seems. Her sister clearly had a heart of stone.
Yet someone else came that fateful day. News of a Jedi Master visiting brought a bounty hunter to call. His plan, it seemed, was simple. To hold them hostage in return for the One Sith bounty on her precious sister. Except her sister didn't turn up and her foolish brother decided to play hero. They all died. All except Melori. She’d vented four years of bottled up anger on that bounty hunter. They say all of the bones in his body were broken when they found him. Of course, Melori had no idea how she’d done it - but it felt…good.
So she sent word to Ossus of the death of the Raaf family and awaited her sister’s arrival. She wasn’t sure if she was glad or disappointed when she heard Corvus was coming. But as far as Melori was concerned, only one Raaf sister would survive the day.
Unable to kill her sister because of her inability to wield a Solari lightsaber, so left Corvus unconscious, stole her ship and crash landed on Prakith. Having been moved to Coruscant she remained in a coma until after the Event and has just been introduced to her oldest sister.
A warning on Tython from a seer that her sister would betray her fell on deaf ears, as she suspected it would be Corvus that she had to be concerned about. But eventually she came to realise it was her eldest sister the prophecy was about as she left her to join the Jedi Order.
And so Melori sought a new Master, but having joined the Sisterhood at the Covenant of the Black Rose, she found an ideal person to approach. Her progression to Sith Lord was swift but not without a huge amount of hard work. At one point she was co-Voice and Darth Venefica's right hand beofre it all unravelled.
Offered the chance to be a Voice in her own right as long as she stabbed Venefica in the back, Melori was conflicted. She was loyal to the Dark Lord but her Master was her Master. Then a simple remark from Venefica and Melori was branded a traitor by the One Sith and found herself alienated from the Sisterhood due to a need to renounce the Dark Lord and by a lack of desire to abandon her broadly Banite philosophy of what it means to be a Sith.
So she travelled as a lonely young woman without home or raison d'etre - with at least [member="Vengeance"] as company. It suited for a while, but her determination to ensure the survival of the strongest Sith meant she returned to the fold and is once more a Voice of the Dark Lord.
