Money for Nothing, Chiss for Free [Cyberattack on the Red Ravens]

(OOC: Ah, but I was born on Nar Shaddaa, chicarina...)

Jarven had walked his way up to the cockpit and was standing behind Pilot. "We're dealing with a hacker, Pilot. Please tell me you have something fancy to save the day?"

Pilot glanced back at him and said, "What? Do you think this is an ICC? No, not really!" He looked at his console and thought for a little while. "We can do electronic surveillance and monitor the area, but there's too much to look at, Jarven!"

"Well, we need to at least try! Just...keep a watch on the city and see if anything...strange happens....(epic foreshadowing)" He went to the shuttle doors and looked at his notifications. He found more info, "Promenade. Closet. Likely storage area around casino Golden Nautilus". He turned towards Pilot and yelled, "Pilot! Promenade! Please and thank you!" He stashed his commputer and checked his gear until the shuttle doors opened and the shuttle was hovering over the Promenade. He dropped out of the ship and landed on the ground with the help of his jet pack. He started walking towards the casino that his display was pinging as the Golden Nautilus.

He stepped into the casino and was at a loss as to where to start. Where do rats hide?...The basement....Jarven made his way to the Employees Only/Basement door and started to open it when someone saw him. It was likely a higher up in the staff. Jarven tapped the Raven symbol on his chest. "Get lost!" He jerked open the door and he quickly stepped down the stairs. When he got to the bottom, a large electrical surge blew the lights. He commed Pilot.

"Pilot! What happened!"

"An electrical surge just took out power on the Promenade! I was able to find the source, though! Linking it to you now, sir!" Jarven's HUD was updated with the new waypoint.

"Okay, Pilot, I'm going to shut off wireless capabilities to my systems, now. Can't risk any hacking. See you on the flip side." He rushed to a closet, shot the door handle open, and burst inside. It was empty, save for a few blank looking datapads and small window that was ajar. Frell...Jarven activated the forensics package in his helmet and looked for any trace of the thief. The datapads had faint handprint shapes of warmth. He studied them more closely and his systems made a copy for later review. He now had her finger prints. He scanned the room with the finger print filter on. Her finger prints were in many places, but one place of most interest was the window. Near the window, his systems caught a strand of her hair. Another copy of evidence was made and filed.

He heard loud footsteps in the distance. He didn't have time for any of that, so he weaseled and strong armed his way out of the window as fast as possible. He made it, so he started climbing and free running, following the trail of evidence that the thief left behind. This was exhilarating! It had been too long since he had been able to relish a hunt! He was athletically running, jumping, and jet packing his way to quickly catch up to this miscreant. He brought up his many memories of the most popular locale of his childhood, the Promenade and its surrounding area. He felt like a kid again---"guh...eyuh!" Jarven had to squeeze through a certain opening that was smaller than he remembered. *Sigh*

I am swaggin' through town, groovin to my favorite smash hits as my pimp walk carries me through the Promenade. Marvelous Mauve and Fruit Flavor, my two hitwomen are walkin with me as we go huntin for whoever took down my Holonet. I have been given full reign from Cryax, at least accordin to Gracious Breeze. Now, it was time to find whoever took down my holonet and apprehend them. If they were of the female variety, well, I could always use more merchandise.

A flash of light catches my eyes as I see a girl runnin' through the streets with what looks to be some high tech computery things in hand. My pimp suspicions are on edge, and I order Fruit Flavor and Marvelous Mauve to chase after her. I know that I can't disrupt or speed up my pimp walk, or so help me I won't even be a true pimp anymore. However, the same doesn't apply to my hitwomen.

I whistle softly as my cane taps the ground rhythmically, takin my own sweet time as I stroll over to where the action is gonna be. I know this side of town like the back of my hand, two scars and a mole, so I do the pimpest thing possible: I take the shortcut. I know where this girl is tryna get, so I'm just gonna try to cut her off.

She vaulted and somersaulted over a railing, checking behind her once she had resumed running to see some guy who looked a bit like a Mandalorian pursuing her. Bad. This is bad. She never would have thought that she would have to deal with this.

Fortunately, the guy seemed to be having trouble squeezing through a small space, and Nozomi was able to increase the distance between them. So the trick was to take the tight routes? She could do that. There were some drainage accesses to the east of Nightskimmer Boulevard, and that was where she was aiming. A quick turn into this narrow alley would certainly lose the hounds and get her going in the direction of the drains.

"Hupf!" The runaway slicer bulled into a rather eccentric man in an all-white outfit and rolled across the ground, her yellow messenger bag containing the datapads skidding across the pavement. She hurried to her feet and lunged for the bag. This creep could not have her stuff.

I'm mindin my own business when this girl runs into me. Her bag falls away from her as she runs into me. She lunges for it, but i nudge it out of the way with my pimpcane. A datapad falls out of the bag. This must be the girl who took down my holonet. A thought flashes through my mind. Imagine if she works for me, I say to myself. She might sell well, but more importantly she could replace Gracious Breeze at the technical desk. If she could slice into stuff and help me earn more money, then all was good.

I ready my pimpslappin hand as I glance over at the data pads. This girl isn't gettin away any time soon. "Where do you think you're going missy?"I say, trying to get her to turn towards me. My pimp hand descends, the strength of a thousand days of pimpslapping practice behind it, ready to deliver the truth of a million pimps and to spread the word of me,myself,and I

[member="Tsukikaneko Nozomi"]

Jarven caught up to the spectacle and watched as the Falcon Backhand of all pimp slaps descended upon his target. At least, he figured it was since her hair seemed to match his database with a 99.7% accuracy. So. This is the troublemaker...Walking up to the pimpin' man, Jarven casually pulled his pistol out and at his side said, "You have quite the form, sir. You've done well bringing this miscreant to justice. The Red Ravens will be quite pleased." Jarven's trigger finger was calm, but thanks to his cybernetic reflexes, he was prepared to react to anything.

He turned towards the nearby, sprawled, struggling form that was Zomi. He almost felt bad...almost. "You see, ma'm," He addressed her. "You mess with the pimp and you get the back of the hand. You mess with the Ravens...and...we...well, we do whatever we want to you. Trust me, we will DEFINITELY do to you..." He took a step forward to apprehend her and slightly raised his pistol.

Location: Nar Shaddaa, Promenade District
Objective: Relieve Stress and Boredom
Allies: Tsukikaneko Nozomi (Unofficially)
Enemies: None officially

Robb had made a point of avoiding Nar Shaddaa since the Red Ravens had taken control of the moon, but when he and his crew had touched down he was surprised at just how happy he was to return home. If anything the Smuggler's Moon could provide a much needed diversion from the particularly long stretch of unemployment and inactivity he was dealing with. So Robb allowed himself a small break from his crewmates for a night of solitary sin and excess. Robb had decided to try his luck around the promenade, just to see where the night would take him if nothing else.

Robb decided to stay away from the casinos for his own good, instead he partook in a semi-casual card game in the back of some generic Nar Shaddaa dive he had not even bothered to learn the name off. Hours of gambling, drinking, and shifting fortunes passed until Robb decided he should cut his losses and depart, electing to simply wander the promenade and enjoy the anonymity of the crowds.

Robb walked aimlessly, hands in his pockets, nursing his wounded pride while cursing his luck; the cards had not been with him tonight. He found himself wondering what the others were doing; perhaps they could lighten his mood when he got back to the ship. Robb made his way out of the throng to the side of the walkway so he could stop and call his crewmates. Withdrawing his hands from his pockets, he activated his wristcomm and attempted to hail them, only to find the system unresponsive. Weird, 'net must be down.

Robb resumed his walk with a shrug, electing to take the less crowded side streets, through an old shortcut, to reach the taxi station. He had walked for around ten minutes when a nearby scuffle caught his eye. Normally he would have written in it off as a typical Nar Shaddaa misunderstanding, but what he saw troubled him. A woman was scuffling on the ground when perhaps the most extravagantly dressed man Robb had even seen descended on her, unleashing a viscous looking slap her way. The pair were quickly joined by a heavily armored man who looked every bit like a bounty hunter. What in the karking... Robb was jogging over before he could even think up a plan; he wasn't used to this kind of thing, so he would just have to improvise.

Robb was able to better assess the scene the closer he got and things did not look good for the woman. He was perhaps ten yards away when an idea struck him. Time to pretend. He slowed his pace down to a walk as he made his final approach and called out to the girl, making an effort to sound concerned, hoping all the while that the woman would catch on.

"Myn? Thank the maker I found you. I've been looking all over for you!" Robb closed the remaining distance between himself and the group and offered a hand to the fallen woman before continuing. "Your sister's been worried since you ran off, she tried calling but the holonet's down..." Robb glanced over at the two thugs nearby as if noticing them for the first time, "Who're your friends?"

Location: The Promenade
(New Challenger Approaching!)

The random citizen was an anomaly that Jarven wasn't prepared for. Normally, he would have been indifferent since this woman had supposedly ripped the Ravens a really bad, financial Charlie Horse. However, in normal circumstances, Jarven didn't like the abuse of women and the man seemed sincere in his concern. He gave the situation a benefit of the doubt.

"Myn? Wait, I thought...Oh, hacker names are pen names..." Jarven stopped walking forward and addressed both the man and the woman who were in front of him, although he would only occasionally glance up at the man. He was a hunter and a hunter did not lose his prey due to a social encounter. He lifted his pistol and held it casually pointing up. He put his left arm underneath his right arm as a brace and leaned his right arm against itself and his shoulder.

"Apparently, Myn didn't want to be found. There's a lot of evidence heaped on her head that she's behind the Holonet going down. Did you see how all of the electricity was cut to the Promenade? That seems to be her fault, too." He didn't like how the guy assumed they were her friends. No one is THAT dense...I hope....Even if this man hadn't seen the pimp slap her, he HAD to have heard it. It had sounded almost as bad as the Neuronic Whip he used to carry!

[member="Robb Killian"] [member="A Pimp Named Magoo"] [member="Tsukikaneko Nozomi"]

Robb eyed the armored man as he raised his weapon into the air, couching his right arm against itself while steadying it against his left. No going back now. Apparently the hunter had yet to be convinced by the façade. The hunter addressed him then; his voice had a mechanical quality to it as it passed through his helmet's filter. The hunter accused the woman of taking down the holonet and the local power. Oh, what the kark have I gotten myself into. Still, Robb was relieved to hear the hunter refer to the woman by the sobriquet he had invented. He does not know who she is. Robb was in it now, all he could do was sustain his act and roll with the flow. His hand still outstretched toward the prone woman, Robb smiled at the hunter and gently shook his head in mock disbelief.

"That's simply not possible, friend. Myn was with her sister and I all night, at least until she ran off. That couldn't have been more than, I don't know, ten minutes ago." Robb's gaze flicked briefly to the extravagantly dressed man and back before continuing. "So unless she took down the power in past few minutes, I'm afraid you've got the wrong woman." It was not the perfect alibi, but it would have to do.

"Owch!" she yelled when the big pimp hand came down on her body. It stung a bit, but she was no fragile, itty-bitty thing. Perhaps a little short, but in good physical shape.

Nozomi attempted to send a wicked backhander of her own at the ludicrously-attired creepo when she was hauled to her feet by the presumed Mandalorian hunter. A gun was drawn, and it seemed like it was game over for her this time. Come on, don't you pull that 'justice of the peace' poodoo on me.

Timing was everything, however. Like the spectacularly awesome timing some innocent bystander seemed to have as he called out her tough-guy captor. Nozomi's brown eyes gazed directly into his blues and knew that she had a friend here. She let him do the talking at first. He seemed to have a good story; a name picked out for her so far. It was best to roll with whatever he said to keep any alibi contradictions out of the picture. She was a good story away from getting out of this jam.

"Hey Bach," she answered him, nodding at his tale of a sister and 'going for a run'. Bach is an okay name, right? "Didn't think you were that fast."

[member="A Pimp Named Magoo"], [member="Robb Killian"], [member="Jarven Zexxel"]

Okay, now Jarven was getting confused. He didn't want to get the wrong party here, but not only was there a staggering amount of evidence that pointed at...Myn or Zomi? Frell. Anyway, not only was there lots of evidence pointing at Mymi, but this delay and confusion was giving rise to another Gank temper. He replied to him, "As a matter of fact, the power seriously just went down a few minutes ago. How do you not even know this!?! You've clearly been on the Promenade long enough; running around looking for Myn! And how did you even know she was here, of all of the freaking places in the Promenade!? The freaking giant PROMENADE!.."

"Anyway, I have fingerprints and hair samples from the crime scene." Jarven instinctively tapped his helmet without realizing it. In retrospect, it wasn't such a good idea to show possible enemies where valuable info was. Good thing he had previously shut down Wi-fi capabilities for his helmet. "99.7% is too close of a match up to think she's not AT LEAST suspicious...Screw this. The Ravens can handle the rest of this..."

But as he picked up his comm in his left hand to make contact, the lady spoke up, referring to the man as Bach. Bach?... He lowered the comm and spoke once more to the man in a softer tone. "Bach Rosenthal?...Is that you?"

Location: Nar'Shadda Streets
Objective: Break up the party

The gunship carrying Patricia and a small squad of men were still in the air flying over the streets of Nar'Shadda. She was starting to think that whoever did this had gotten away, but that was before she had a listen in on Jarven's communication device. They were questioning people who sounded hesitant and like they were making up stories as they went along. If someone was innocent then they had no reason to lie, but then again this was the smugglers moon and everyone had something to hide. But it was still worth checking out. Patricia hopped on her data logger and began to move droid patrols towards their location placing them at intervals and checkpoints to box the fine folk of Nar'Shadda within a mile long perimeter.

The ship kicked into overdrive and soon they made it to where Jarven's comm unit said he was located. The ship hovered above their heads now and a spot light hit the group of people in a bright light that illuminated them.

"NON RAVEN PERSONNEL GET ON YOUR FACE OR YOU WILL BE FIRED UPON!!" A thick robotic voice said on the intercom and soon the door to the ship slide open and a DD S1 droid with a very large sniper rifle pointed it at the group. Patricia in her body and face concealing armor slide down a rope and hit the ground hard. Approaching the group she kept a Czerka assault rifle in hand and wanted to make sure these people got the idea that she was not fucking with them.

Robb maintained his calm smile while trying to diffuse the situation with the hunter. The man seemed to have misunderstood his story. Can't blame him though, considering it's a load of crap. Still, Robb was glad to have the anonymous woman play along with his scheme. Things seemed to be going well as the simmering situation seemed to be petering out, at least until the group was set upon by a gunship, of all things. The craft hovered above them, illuminating the group in its spotlight. Seriously? The small crowds of people and activity around the street quickly made themselves scarce in the face of this new development. Robb took a half step closer to woman he had dubbed "Myn", and placed an arm, somewhat hesitantly, around her waist. The brief silence was punctuated by a metallic voice as it barked orders through the ship's intercom.

Robb stared up at the ship, blinking in disbelief, and muttered a soft curse under his breath, "Karking Miha Pahia dayan bai yoieu mo mah danko..." Robb glared up at the gunship as a battledroid zeroed in on the group as an armored figured rappelled down to the street, landing with a metallic thud. The aggressor's frame was slender, despite their armor, suggesting that they were a woman. She approached the group slowly, rifle in hand. Chuba.

Robb had two options as far as he could tell, and time was running out. He could ride this charade out to the end; run like hell; or both. Things seemed to be escalating a little too quickly for his tastes and these people really wanted this woman. Just roll with the flow... Robb glanced over his shoulder and noted the opening of an alleyway behind them before redirected his attention toward "Myn". Robb tilted his head so that he could whisper to her without drawing the ire of the goon squad, "Hold on tight." I'll have to move fast.

Robb, his arm still wrapped firmly around "Myn's" waist, bent his knees slightly and shifted his weight onto his heels. Activating the thrusters on his boots, he leaned back as if falling, pulling "Myn" on top of him and wrapping her in his arms as he directed them out of the street. The successive bursts were powerful enough to propel the pair out of the street and deep into the adjacent alleyway where it eventually split off in two directions. They reached the far end in seconds, landing on the ground with a thud. Robb's landing was a little less than graceful, but now wasn't the time for hesitation. He scrambled to his feet and pulled "Myn" up after him with one hand, while drawing his blaster in the other."Come on," he shouted, leading her down and around the alley's corner at a run. Time to get lost.

Jarven, distracted by the sudden appearance of the shuttle, had let his guard down. The next thing he knew, Bach had taken off with Myn in a flash. "Bach! Wait!" Jarven jumped into the air and jet packed after them, hot on their tail. They landed and started running down the corridor. Jarven stayed in the air, flying at a progress that was eating up the distance between Bach, Myn, and Jarven. When he got into ear shot, he yelled "Bach! It's me, Jarven Zexxel!"

Her eyes darted skyward as the gunship came into view, its spotlight peering between the cracks of the alley. She seriously doubted a sniper could possibly make that shot, seeing as how narrow the firing lane would be and how cramped the airspace was at this level of the city and the ungainly wind that would be rocking the ship back and forth in this sort of wind tunnel. But then someone descended from the vehicle and began pacing towards them with a bit too much confidence for the hacker's taste.

"Hold on tight."

Eep.

He took her by the waist--and they were off, skidding across the pavement on the heels of his... booster boots. I could use a set of these... The art of landing might be something he could work on, however. Although she was grateful that he had some quick-thinking skills there to get the both of them out of this jam. She rolled upon their collision with the ground, averting serious injury but still acquiring a nasty case of road rash. But she was on her knees quickly and immediately pulled onward by the good fellow, making haste for somewhere that might be safe. At least they had ditched that gunship.

Nozomi assumed he had an inkling now about how 'hot' she was. Though it appeared as if 'Bach' had a tagalong fan himself. Perhaps they had won an ally by blind luck, as the Mando guy seemed to be chasing after them for some sentimental reason rather than 'law' enforcement. She should get the credit for that, of course.

"Hey buddy, I think he might--" She tapped her hand to her shoulder suddenly, feeling nothing swung about it. "Aw, they got my bag!" There was no use going back to retrieve it now. At least she had burned the codes on the datapads, so the galaxy was saved from that for now. But they might or might not have been handed some information on the slicer known as Zomi...

[member="Robb Killian"], [member="Jarven Zexxel"], [member="Patricia Susan Garter"]

The roar of the hunter's jetpack drew nearer as Robb and "Myn" made their down the long alleyway. Part of Robb wished he had not expended so much fuel, but he was glad to get away from the gunship, at least. Then the hunter came within ear shot,

"Bach! It's me, Jarven Zexxel!"

Robb was unsure whether the hunter's sentimentality toward his assumed name was a boon or a potential death sentence. At least he isn't shooting at us."Myn's" thoughts seemed to echo his own.

A cursory look over his shoulder told Robb that they would not be outrunning this hunter, so he slowed his pace to a walk before turning to face this Jarven Zexxel. Robb released his grip on the woman's hand and raised his hand in a silent greeting. He retained his grip on his blaster but let his hand hang by his side, nothing would be gained by threatening the hunter in such tight confines. They were outgunned; continued survival would only be achieved through talk.

[member="Tsukikaneko Nozomi"] [member="Patricia Susan Garter"] [member="Jarven Zexxel"]

The pair slowed down, and he landed next to Bach. Taking off his helmet and hooking it to his side, he holstered his pistol and threw his arms around Bach to embrace him. He pulled back after a couple of seconds, his eyes glistening. He said to him, "How did you survive?....Ha ha ha. I can tell you've been shaving like me. Special lady in your life, too?"

[member="Robb Killian"] [member="Tsukikaneko Nozomi"]

Robb's eyes bolted open in shock when the hunter, Jarven, drew him in for a hug. Oh boy. Robb was quick to return the gesture, throwing his free arm around the hunter. He threw a quick glance, over the hunter's shoulder, at the woman for help. Robb quickly redirected his attention to the hunter and offered the man his most earnest smile as the hunter broke the embrace and pulled away from him. He was unsure what species the hunter was, but damn if Robb didn't feel guilty when he saw the look in the hunter's eyes when he looked at him. Then the hunter spoke:

"How did you survive...," he said, trailing off for a moment before laughing. "I can tell you've been shaving like me. Special lady in your life, too?"

Oh kark. Think, think...no time to think just roll with it. Robb maintained his smile as replied to the man, "Oh...not so much Jarven." It was Jarven right? "Havn't been so lucky with the ladies recently..." At least that part wasn't a lie. This is the most time I've spent with a woman in years that wasn't 'Corvy' or 'Peaches', and look where it's gotten me! Robb peered behind and around the hunter's armored shoulder as he continued. "...But now isn't really a good time to talk. I need help getting 'Myn' here to safety, especially since the 'Ravens' have got her mixed up with some slicer." Robb redirected his attention at the hunter, looking him square in the eyes. "If you could help us get to safety, or at least off the Promenade, I'd appreciate it. We could catch up afterward, if you want."

[member="Jarven Zexxel"] [member="Tsukikaneko Nozomi"]

"I..." Jarven looked back where he had come from and then looked back at Bach. "...I can't, Bach. Myn's got mixed up in some sort of trouble. The best thing we can do at this point is to deal with the Ravens. They're good people, but they're highly pragmatic. If they think Myn's responsible, they're not going to stop hounding her. I mean, good grief! Even if Myn IS responsible, it's not like they're going to kill her! Frell, they might even offer her a job! After all, that's what we karking did with the last guy who started posting the Raven's dirty laundry up for all of the Holonet to see! (OOC: [member="Eugene Leopold"]) ...Anyway...."

Jarven turned to Myn and spoke to her. "Myn? Did you or did you not hack into the bank and start screwing with the money...and, of course, the energy here on the Promenade?"

Nozomi endeavored to stick tight with 'Bach'... but not too tight. She was supposed to look the part of a decent friend, but she was not supposed to be his boyfriend.

This was unfamiliar territory for her. But at least she had a good story to tell in case she was asked. She did have a legitimate job as a fitness trainer at the Glitteritzer Resort--not that she had to be incredibly impressive for half of those fat slobs to believe she was an expert at physical fitness. She was not exactly super-duper muscular or anything serious like that, but she was in good enough shape, as her pursuers had probably figured out during the chase.

The point was, no one would expect that she was the slicer--except this guy. She had a real career to point him towards if he asked. No one would be able to convict her unless she and 'Bach' slipped up right here and now. You're pretty good at this, friend. I think.

"Yeah, uh." She raised her eyebrow incredulously and tried to look as close to 'aghast' as possible. Hopefully she was good at lying. "I wouldn't even know where to start.

"Oh no! Did someone take my money?"

[member="Robb Killian"], [member="Jarven Zexxel"]

Her responses confused him more than anything. First she said, "Yeah" and then she said, "I wouldn't know where to start". Misdirection was abound. What Jarven had originally seen as a clear cut case had been fouled up into a complex situation. Here was Bach and Myn, professing innocence, and here was a data bank full of guilty evidence. Jarven just really couldn't handle this.

"Well, then you have nothing to fear from the Red Ravens." said Jarven.
