Moonlight Lekku

Choli could only blink at Trextan. Did he really just say that? There was no way that he-- her jaw fell, the girl gaping at the teenager, unable to fully register what he'd just said. Or maybe she did and now was struck speechless.

"W-what?! " choli stammered out, once again feeling the blood rise over her face. So he was trying to kiss me?! She hadn't been too sure but now that he confirmed it aloud...

"I-" wait he wasn't going to try again? Wait why do I care if he didn't want to again? That made her even more flustered, mirroring Trextan in his growing awkwardness. She ran her fingers through her hair nervously, the green in her eyes disappearing in the copper rush of Choli's and Trextan's embarrassment.

"Umm. " Choli bit her lower lip, the girl torn in the flood of information as much as anxiety on wondering if she would have let him. Having never kissed anyone before that was rather new and uncharted territory. Now she was even more flustered because she didn't know what to say.

"Okay" came her weak reply, unable to say much of anything else. But to what exactly she was saying okay to was up in the air.

What question had she just answered? Was she confirming that she didn't want to be kissed or that they could go to the roof garden? It was okay if she didn't want him to again of course. It had been a silly thing to do. Maybe he hadn't really wanted to. But when he looked over at her he knew that wasn't really true. Maybe he'd ruined everything. That's seemed the most likely; everything always seemed to go wrong for him.

She looked thoroughly flustered, but not angry or hurt any more. Where was the brash military girl who would have said "no thanks" or "alright then." She was confused about what had happened, he realised. As much as he was. Wait, she'd looked hurt because she'd thought he'd been playing with her about the kiss. Oh.

In a flash of Voidstalker boldness, he smiled as he turned back to the film and said: "Alright then. But...If you decide you wouldn't mind just tell me."

He told himself that was that and to keep it in his mind. Yet in his head the olive skinned pilot was slowly undoing her braid, letting her hair cascade down over bare shoulders. She looked at him longingly with eyes that shifted to a stunning night-sky indigo.

Trextan shifted awkwardly in the chair and crossed his legs. Now he was torn being giving the Nexu cub checking his dead father attention and trying not to let it get to him or allowing his teenage mind to play out inappropriate fantasies.

Choli's jaw fell again, and nervousness reverted into a fumbling, "Is that how you get girls to kiss you?" Had he mentioned something before about it? Choli barely recalled the details in her flustered state, but she had to say something.

Granted that something she said made her quickly realize that perhaps it's wasn't the best thing to say. Especially since he was rather forward with that half grin and how he said it. It brought thoughts back up on how he'd been under her and moving up close, his breath tickling her jaw and --

Her face was a flaming red as if she'd been out in the sun too long. She turned her head away, glancing over towards the nursing station. The need to step away and get fresh air seemed like a fantastic idea right now.

"Ima ask if they will allow patients up to the roof." She added, crumpling her now empty bag into a small ball so that she could toss it away.

"Be back in a bit."

"Well that was stupid of you," he mumbled to himself after she'd gone. He hadn't managed to form a reply to her question. He sighed and turned back to the screen. Just his luck. The cub was tugging at his dead father's trying desperately to convince him to get back to his feet. He hadn't even seen his parents after their death. Many times he'd tried to decide if he would have liked to see them once more. But it didn't matter, the Sith officials from one ministry or another had explained that not all the bodies could have been retrieved from the alliance bombing. That raised a question: had Choli ever been involved in an alliance bombing run where civilians were wounded?

Trextan tried not to start brooding on his own. Over at the desk, the nurse would inform Choli that a man had called to ask when visiting hours were.

"A man?" Choli gave a slight frown, the announcement a surprise and, thankfully, another topic to consider while the heat on her face would slowly subside.

"Yes," the nurse went through the holoscreen, pulling up the details of the call.

"Commander Janes."

That would brighten Choli's expression, as well as darken it. She'd left her datapad back on Polis Massa, in it the letter that Janes had sent her. She bit her lower lip.

"Did he say he was going to visit?"
"Just wanted to know visiting hours, so I told him." The nurse said. Likely Janes was just as hectic as well with everything. However, the thought that he just might come visit her left a small warmth in her chest.

"Thank you." The girl shifted from one foot to the other. A pause.

"Excuse me,." The nurse lifted her gaze expectantly.

"Are patients allowed access to the roof?"

There was a slight narrowing to the Nurse's gaze. They had been informed about the Lieutenant Commander's earlier flight and what had occurred with leaving the ward to go to the mess.

"There are strict access times for the roof access." The nurse then informed Choli of them, which included just a little past sundown.

"Thank you." The Rogue replied. At least now she felt a little bit better. Well, sort of. Her mind was still mulling over what Trextan had said and how he acted - and how silly she had as well. Just, play it cool. It is no different as when hanging out with the rest of the guys.

However, that didn't halt the sense of awareness she now felt at the thought of Trextan.

"Hey," Trextan called when she returned. The last few minutes, the death of the nexu's father and then being alone had left him a bit introspective. His expression seemed a bit more tentative, as it had before his scans. She would also note he'd shifted over to ensure she had plenty of room on the couch.

The Justicar wanted to know about the roof garden, but he'd been preparing himself to say. The film had made him think about his parents. However before Jacen had left things had not been perfect. He'd always wanted more attention from both of them. His mother had seemed preoccupied - with her lover it had turned out - and Jacen was away so much of the time. His thoughts had turned to worrying that he'd disappointed Choli. Now another new relationship had perhaps been ruined. It was currently his nature to see the worst in situations at times.

"It's not, you know," he said, gesticulating with one hand. "... How I get girls. You've been... Well, through hell and back and I don't want you to think, like, I'm taking advantage." Trextan couldn't even hold her gaze as he finished. The little diatribe had sounded much grander in his head as he'd plotted it out.

"It's okay." She added abruptly, as if trying to soothe over the 'as long as you don't think..' bit he'd brought up. Funny how hearing him elaborate on it made her feel better; not that it was any of her business what he did do with anyone else to pick them up.

"Besides, you saved my life. That's plenty of courage there." Stop making it awkward. Just do what Thr others would do. Don't stress it and just relax.

"Anyways..." she sat down on the couch. Olive branch accepted, Choli gave Trextan half a smile. Playing with her hair again in a need to keep her hands busy, she added, "umm, we can go up to the roof. There are just specific access hours. "

It was an attempt to hide her blush and her wandering thoughts.
Her attention went to the holofilm, " maybe after this is done?"

Offering choices in the attempt to make things a little bit more easy going. Even if the thought of Trextan actually kissing her made her head rush.

"Yeah, that sounds good," he replied. He didn't stumble over his words at all this time. Trextan offered a more natural smile and turned back to the film. He wouldn't have expected this to be even more awkward than their introduction the previous day but it most certainly had been.

He tried to keep his mind from obsessing over what would come next. Was that it? Done, put aside as a minor stumble they'd joke about but never look back on. Would she pluck up the courage to tell him to do that again? Or was the hospital stay now going to be the last he'd see of her?

They watched the film for a few minutes. It was a comfortable silence, even if he sensed her eyes glance in his direction a few times. Being an epicanthix was a boon for them both right now. Likely thoughts and feelings would have spilled across otherwise.

"Ah you are both still here," came a friendly call from the door. A young pharmacy tech with a trolley of drugs had arrived. Trextan offered a friendly smile then realised her greeting meant discussions were already underway at the nurses station about their behaviour. Great.

Choli swung her head over towards the pharmacy tech. The dark slash of her brows drew forward a bit in confusion. Wait, was he making a snide remark about their earlier escape? Here goes to show that gossip travels fast.

Thinning her lips, and perhaps using this as additional material to try and smooth over the earlier discussion, the Lieutenant Commander added, "Yeah, still here. Don't worry, I'm sure we'll plot out way out of this place. "

The Pharmacy Tech rolled his eyes with a small laugh. With the biopatch, their location was pretty much trackable. However, they didn't know that Choli could potentially mess with the trackers to allow Trextan and her to move in an out of the ward -- now that they knew that they were also used for that.

Drawing her legs up to her chest, Choli settled on her side of the couch. Now this felt a bit weirder. She wasn't sure if she should give him space or if he was trying to give her space or if they were both being silly and just sticking to each side of the couch.

Glancing around, her eyes caught sight of the tub of food. Deciding that it never did her wrong, Choli uncurled her legs and bent forward to grasp it with both hands.

"Do you want anything else to snack on?"

"Yes someone mentioned what happened at the last facility that tried to hold you pair," he said as he pushed the repulsor trolley towards them. He stopped out of their view of the screen and started tapping on a datapad. The pair were both still on painkillers and several other chemicals to keep bruising down and promote healing. "Though funny, Mei said you didn't seem too intent on leaving..."

Trextan had been looking towards Choli and about to reply when he turned rather red once more at the comment. He recovered by rolling his eyes at Choli and pushing the tub in her direction.

"I'm fine for now, thanks," he replied to Choli. He felt a swell of determination not to be shamed by the pharmacy tech and shuffled slightly in Choli's direction such that it no longer appeared that they were squeezing into opposite corners. "Maybe it was all part of our plan?" Trextan added tentatively.

The tech had a code cylinder for the drugs cabinet and started sorting their pills. He chuckled but didn't reply to Trextan.

"Alright," Choli replied, moving to get a cookie. Those hazel shifting eyes then drifted over to Trextan and the Pharmacy Tech.

"Our daily dose I take it?" Choli called out, keeping the conversation going.

"Just the usual." he replied back. "You'll need an advanced regimin Lieutenant Commander Vyn, but the medic already disclosed that."

Choli gave a nod. Doc Bie had relayed that she would need to spend at least another week under observation, maybe even another bacta dip or two.

"Here you go." he passed Choli her little cup of pills, then turned to Trextan to hand him his own.

Trextan took his little cup of pills, his eyes went between Choli and the tech. There was a small swell of anger at the medical staff treating them as household entertainment, but he still needed to talk to them.

"I tend to get a little heartburn and stomach ache after these?" He asked, a little uncertain about discussing this in front of Choli, as benign as it was. Certainly she had apparently taken the moonlight incident in her stride, if not what had occured a few minutes ago.

"Oh that's fairly normal, one moment..." The man turned to his datapad. "Yes doctor has already cleared you for these if that came up." He took a tiny pink pill and added it to Trextan's cocktail.

He held up his cup as if to make a toast with a clink of cups. "Here's to not ending up straight back here next time."

The act prompted a half smirk from the Rogue. The banter was back, well to a small degree. Okay, this was good. Choli gave a pert arch of her brows brought her small cup over to his to give it a slight tap.

"I can pill toast to that." the Pharmacy Tech was clearly amused.

"This is your fourth time here, Lieutenant Commander." A roll of her eyes followed.

"Minor Technicality." but it would emphasize that the teenager had already been in several altercations due to her responsibilities as a pilot.

With another small cup full of water for the pair to drink their pills with, Choli washed down her own.

"Fourth?" Trextan asked. "Is that a joke or did I just get to join you for half your higher-than-expected-velocity-landing enforced hospital stays?" He asked with a grin. Trextan liked that she was smiling when she looked at him now, instead of in confusion. But now seeing her smile left him in a turbulent storm of feelings.

Trextan had suffered loss and been taught to harness hatred. No one had taken the time to deal with being a teenager. He had a feeling Adele would happily take the time to teach him to quiesce his mind and focus his thoughts, but this didn't feel like a situation for a proverb to solve. That left Jacen for advice. Even if he didn't want to talk to him right now, he was possibly a better source of advice than Choli's options: two promiscuous pilots and a virgin warden.

A half laugh was hard to let out mid swallowing pills. "Heh," Choli gave a cock of her head towards the right.

Her lips gave an embarrassed twist. "Not.. quite." She admitted. This time the abashed expression didn't have to do with Trextan. Well sort of, now she was a bit more embarrassed to tell it. As if it would place her in a bad light in terms of her piloting.

"Umm.. Skor, that's one. After they picked me up on Kaeshana... that's two." She used her fingers to count, bringing each one up slowly.

"The Omega battle..." wince ," Three."
"Then there was Atrisia... tanked a loketh monster. That didn't end too well for me."

Trextan tilted his head from side to side. "Well, I've seen how you fly so it's hardly a shortage of talentto blame. Still that's a brave or stubborn streak to keep at it."

He thought back to how determined she'd been to get back on her feet on Polis Massa. Despite not even knowing what had been done to her, despite having to hang on to a stranger's shoulder she had given everything to get back in the air and get back to her squadron.

In contrast he'd been scared of a scanner and stopped dead before trying to kiss her. Those events probably displayed a trait she wouldn't respect - or find particularly attractive - he reasoned.

"I wish I had a bit more conviction at times," he admitted. Despite Mei's protests about the common room being for everyone they were alone once again. "What's a loketh?"

"Hah, thanks for the vote of confidence." The girl added, bringing her legs back to tuck under her. Her eyes faded to a more normal hazel hue, another clue that she was feeling a little bit more comfortable, if a bit embarrassed.

At his inquiry, those almond shaped eyes went peering up at him through a few stray tendrils of dark hair. "A Loketh?'

Well, that was a bit hard to explain. Even the after action report from what they'd been able to gather made Choli question it. However, Chloe had confirmed that they existed.

"Well... that's a long story." She admitted, but added, "Just think of an extra dimensional tentacled space monster that came out of no where -- and having to fight it in space."

"Right, got it," Trextan said with a conically curt nod of the head. He tapped the side of his temple as if that was a perfectly easy thing to imagine. "I'm afraid my experience only goes as far as dark side spirits that explode when you shoot them with laser cannons.

He grinned and turned back to the film. He desperately wanted to ask questions about her eyes, but given the bold statement he'd made before tugging her down towards him - oh how vividly he could recalled the weight of her on him as he gave that gentle tug - he decided to steer clear of the topic.

"Darkside spirits hat explode when you shoot them with laser cano--- oh!" He meant what had occurred in Skor. At least she thought he did.

A bit of her lower lip and then a rise of her eyebrows again. "Well, at the time we didn't know what it was.... is that what it was?" She didn't get any of the after action report on that one; what being completely knocked out and floating in a bacta tank.

"Well I could feel something strong in the dark side when we arrived, but that's what I got told, yes. Apparently it didn't properly die either. They think it might still be out there." For the first time in a while his tone was grave, his expression grave. But there was something if the quality he had wished to see in himself there too: conviction. No matter what he believed about the war and his past he didn't want to see the people of the galaxy falling to such vile creatures.

"No matter what, I'm glad we went to Skor."
