Which brings us back to my original point of a Military meeting being a meeting of keyword "Military". There is no need to involve non-military in a military meeting. As the purpose would be in a case where their are at least two brand new junior officers joining a command. I encourage you or anyone for that matter to cite either in an OOC situation or even in an IC situation where a Senator or any other Political figure as been in attendance in what amount to new orientation for new officers joining a command.

The legitimacy of a military unit is not in whether joe shmoe politician from where says oh hey you are good to go but in that units ability to preform it's intended function. Especially if said Joe shmoe politician is the equivalent as say the President of the United States.

To clarify my point I will use a real life example. Back in 2004 for then President Bush created a number of new Marine Corps Battalions one of which was in San Diego California. This also caused an existing unit of the same type to be renamed. I guarantee you as one of those units was the one I was in not a single Senator was present. The Battalion had a meeting in a big conference room where the Battalion Commander said hey effective immediate we are now..........

The IC issue of the status of the Republic Navy is the same type of thing. We are not reinventing the wheel here ladies and gentlemen we are simply trying to get the cogs in motion. If the good Admiral [member="Alarice Mollari"] wants to hob knob with Senator [member="Ayumi Pallopides"] or even Supreme Chancellor [member="Popo"] then that is awesome she can do that at any time she wishes. However if the good Admiral wants to get the Fleet back into combat shape then it should be about the Fleet and only the Fleet. There is no need for anyone other than the members of the Fleet new and old to be there.

From an OOC perspective this is the chance for those new to Star Wars RP or those who need a refresher after being away from Star Wars RP a chance to do so. In which case simple is better.

At any rate this will be the last I am going to put forth on this topic as a feel like I am slamming my head against the wall trying to explain a concept that is not that difficult to get. Whatever happens from here happens.
Why is my name being dropped in about hob knobbing?

I know I said I was not going to post again but anyway.

The point was never to form a Battle Group. As discussed before we do not have enough Naval Officers of sufficient rank and experience to Command a Vessel larger than a Shuttle. One Admiral, one unknown, a Captain, a Commander, and two Ensigns do not make a battle group as you only have two count them two Officers of appropriate rank to command vessels in a Battle group as an Admiral would command a Fleet not a Battle Group.

It is idiotically careless to put an Ensign who has never seen combat in command of a Vessel in any combat situation much less such a high risk ruse as what was being put forth in the thread.

Once again cite for me any instance in Star Wars where any Politician whether a Senator or above has ever attended a military meeting with an entire unit instead of just it's Commanding Officer. I used a very real example to illustrate that point but of course it was ignored as having nothing to do with the topic at hand.

As I said it would be up to in our case the Admiral to ensure such permissions for the formation of any unit whether a permanent one or a war time temporary Battle group to be formed BEFORE the Unit has any meetings in which case said Politician still would not be in attendance as it would be a Military matter and not a civilian one.

As it is very much like the first "Fleeter" thread that was started the one being discussed is dead in the water for no other reason than the cart was once again put before the horse.

We have two choices now. Either we start from scratch and hope the third time is a charm or we proceed with the idea of trying to pick a fight with the One Sith or whomever and pray to whoever you pray to that the One Sith decide to not hand us our backsides for proceeding with a concept that is flawed and presumptuous at best based on characters and to a degree players who have never RP'd together being able to pull of a high risk idea.

We would never have the right amount of officers to do it practically, which is where NPC's and such enter the picture. Eventually the meeting would have turned to organizing the new group, but I can understand if it wasn't to how you envisioned it. And no one ever said anything about putting an ensign in charge of a ship, since we previously agreed to work under someone else on their ship. And if you keep on bringing up real life points, you'll never see a senator/politician going into combat situations and such danger, but Padme was in such situations on multiple occasions. Star Wars and real life are hard to mix.

I did not ignore your point, I simply said it's pretty difficult to compare the two since we just don't have enough people. Since we're pretty much some of the only ones trying to get the navy going of course there are others who are going to want to be involved since it concerns a big part of their active navy people. And that first thread died simply because one of the involved simply never responded, so it's a different case.

We both want this to work and I have no problem with you or your main point, but now we just look ridiculous fighting out in the open like this. And the ideas put forth in that meeting should have stayed private whether you agreed or not, since you could have argued otherwise in it but chose not to and went here to do it when we weren't even finished discussing anything beyond an initial overview first.

Well, this was fun for a while.

If you're not role-playing in the thread this OOC discussion is for, get out of the OOC discussion and handle faction matters within your faction. Or privately.

More importantly, stay on topic.
