I know I said I was not going to post again but anyway.
The point was never to form a Battle Group. As discussed before we do not have enough Naval Officers of sufficient rank and experience to Command a Vessel larger than a Shuttle. One Admiral, one unknown, a Captain, a Commander, and two Ensigns do not make a battle group as you only have two count them two Officers of appropriate rank to command vessels in a Battle group as an Admiral would command a Fleet not a Battle Group.
It is idiotically careless to put an Ensign who has never seen combat in command of a Vessel in any combat situation much less such a high risk ruse as what was being put forth in the thread.
Once again cite for me any instance in Star Wars where any Politician whether a Senator or above has ever attended a military meeting with an entire unit instead of just it's Commanding Officer. I used a very real example to illustrate that point but of course it was ignored as having nothing to do with the topic at hand.
As I said it would be up to in our case the Admiral to ensure such permissions for the formation of any unit whether a permanent one or a war time temporary Battle group to be formed BEFORE the Unit has any meetings in which case said Politician still would not be in attendance as it would be a Military matter and not a civilian one.
As it is very much like the first "Fleeter" thread that was started the one being discussed is dead in the water for no other reason than the cart was once again put before the horse.
We have two choices now. Either we start from scratch and hope the third time is a charm or we proceed with the idea of trying to pick a fight with the One Sith or whomever and pray to whoever you pray to that the One Sith decide to not hand us our backsides for proceeding with a concept that is flawed and presumptuous at best based on characters and to a degree players who have never RP'd together being able to pull of a high risk idea.
We would never have the right amount of officers to do it practically, which is where NPC's and such enter the picture. Eventually the meeting would have turned to organizing the new group, but I can understand if it wasn't to how you envisioned it. And no one ever said anything about putting an ensign in charge of a ship, since we previously agreed to work under someone else on their ship. And if you keep on bringing up real life points, you'll never see a senator/politician going into combat situations and such danger, but Padme was in such situations on multiple occasions. Star Wars and real life are hard to mix.
I did not ignore your point, I simply said it's pretty difficult to compare the two since we just don't have enough people. Since we're pretty much some of the only ones trying to get the navy going of course there are others who are going to want to be involved since it concerns a big part of their active navy people. And that first thread died simply because one of the involved simply never responded, so it's a different case.
We both want this to work and I have no problem with you or your main point, but now we just look ridiculous fighting out in the open like this. And the ideas put forth in that meeting should have stayed private whether you agreed or not, since you could have argued otherwise in it but chose not to and went here to do it when we weren't even finished discussing anything beyond an initial overview first.
