New Venture [Chandrila Group]

[member="Xilo Gale"]

Alicia screwed the cap closed on the bottle of water and placed it back into the fridge. The explanation behind her business strategy in regards to Sylas Gorg and his farm was not only to explain the dynamics of business and how best to come out on top, but to test Xilo on how the same concept could be applied to other things as well. Murder was a tool that could be used in a number of situations, but it necessarily wasn't always the best option and there was other ways to get what you wanted.

Killing someone tended to lead to questions. The trick was to appear as small as possible. If you are small, then you are overlooked, forgotten or underestimated. It was one of the more subtle powers of the dark side. Deception and manipulation could be just as powerful as a Force Maelstrom or technique with a Lightsaber, which Darth Ayra was capable of doing.

Although she had not taken Xilo under her apprenticeship, it would help her decision to in deciding whether or not to take the young man under her wing and take him on under that capacity. You can walk up to any person and convince them to become your apprentice. Ayra was confident that if she was to offer this to Xilo at that moment, he would accept. But what use was an apprentice if he never fully appreciated his role?

Xilo required to be broken in a many different ways before an apprenticeship was possible. On Coruscant, Ayra had displayed her power in the dark side of the Force through a physical manifestation, thus changing his life forever. On Chandrila, she would show him that the galaxy could be attacked in a different and far more effective way. Through the use of business and economics, their enemies could be undone from afar, without knowledge of who or what was attacking them.

To have a mind of a serial killer coupled with the training, ideology and belief of a Sith was a powerful thing. On Kursid, Darth Ayra had slaughtered over a hundred men in a single day and night. By morning rise, covered in the blood of her victims, she satisfied the monster inside her, rejuvenated and ready to return to the galaxy. Her training had allowed her to set her mind away from the futility of a serial killer; away from the selfish desire to merely kill for your own devices; and instead put it together to changing the galaxy forever, in a way only a Sith Lord could.

Would Xilo Gale become something akin to the woman that sat next to him? It remained to be seen. Subtly, however, Ayra was setting him up for the transformation. Perhaps one day, together, they would pay homage to the Sith code.

The car came to a stop outside the second farm, three hours after leaving Sylas Gorg. As the driver moved around to open up the cars doors, Alicia leaned forward to retrieve her bottle of water. She unscrewed it, took a drink and closed it again before exiting the vehicle. "I will be back soon," Alicia said to Xilo before turning to make her way up to acquire her second farm for Chandrila Group.

At the second farm...

Kate finished her breakfast of bantha links and leaned back with a smile. She'd begrudgingly eaten the whole plate, leaving it spick and span. It wasn't that she wasn't hungry, but a girl's gotta watch her weight. Can't just run around jamming every yummy down. Otherwise she'd have died of chocolypse a long time ago. Her blue eyes widened with glee as the farmer's wife approached her with a cup of steaming cocoa.

Speaking of chocolate.

"Thank you, Mrs. Talan."

"Oh don't worry dear. I hope we could give you all the information on Tapani that you needed. We've been gone for nearly fifteen years, but that was a different life."

Mr. Talan strolled up behind his wife and wrapped a sun-browned arm around her shoulders.

"Not sorry to see it gone," he rasped.

Kate's lips twitched and she nodded. "Of course. Thank you for your help. And if you need any further assistance with shipments of your uh, special farming devices, just let me know."

"Will do, lass. Your ship's last load was a real help. Got us back on our feet. Your family would be proud."

The dark haired femme snorted softly. A smirk, half-bitter and half-defiant crawled up her face. "Oh, I don't know about that."

Xilo understood the point Arya was trying to make, more so he saw the truth and wisdom behind it. Yet one could not simply learn by listening they had to practice at it. So looking out as the rolling landscape flew by Xilo thought long and hard on his true purpose in all this. Was he merely a pawn being played by Arya? Or was he a more valuable piece in the collection? Did he really hold a special position or could just any random boy wander off the street and be picked by her to do what she requested of Xilo? Considering where she had found him there could be hundreds more with the same if not more potential waiting. It was a dangerous game Xilo had got himself caught up in, but he would play it. He would play it by Arya's rules, but he didn't intend to be on the loosing side for to long. Xilo was determined to win no matter the cost.

"Don't worry I'll still be here. Might even get some practice in if I'm going to be stuck in this vehicle for another hour." Xilo said as his sickly yellow eyes looked back to Arya as she disembarked. He knew he needn't watch as she approached the farm as any threats that arose she could probably deal with on her own... Unless she intended to hide her power which means that Xilo would have to take up the charge and defend her. Dry and scratchy, was Xilo's throat but instead of just reaching down and grabbing the wine bottle Xilo reached out with the force. He had yet to practice using the force to move objects, but now was a chance. Envisioning the bottle moving towards his outstretched palm Xilo reached out with the force attempting to coax the bottle to come to him. Yet nothing happened, the wine bottle just sat there taunting him. Perfect white teeth gritting together Xilo tried again focusing on the bottle pouring his anger into it still nothing happened besides a slight sweat appearing on his forehead. So he sat back and emerged himself in the darkside once again. In memories of how his father had tortured him. Of how the lightning had scorched his flesh to the point where the marks still lingered. The feeling of having a blade plunged into his body.

Alicia arrived at the door of the farm, lifted a hand and knocked on the door, waiting for the owner to answer.

Kate glanced toward the door.

"I'll get it," rumbled Mr. Talan, scratching idly at his thick, wiry black beard. He swung open the door to his humble abode. "Hello?"

"Hello. My name is Alicia Drey. Might I have a moment of your time to talk about our lord and savior, Jesus Christ?" Alicia fell silent for a moment, to watch Mr. Talan's reaction. "I'm only kidding. I'm here on a moment of business. Can I come in?" She flashed a smile. Good looks and humor.

Normally worked.

"Uh, sure, don't see why not. Step on in."

At the table, Kate froze, one hand on the holster at her thigh.

Without opening his eyes Xilo focused on the bottle. Where it was located in conjunction to him and blacked out all his surroundings. He got rid of the thoughts of being in a transport awaiting Arya. It was just him, the force and the bottle now. Using the pain and anger from deep in his heart Xilo grabbed hold of the force with all the intentions of turning it into a beast of burden. Showing it that he controlled it, not the other way around. It almost seemed as if the force was fighting back as the power of the darkside burned him and tried to make him release his hold. But he didn't and forced it to move pull on the bottle. His thin brow furrowed in concentration Xilo pulled harder trying to accomplish the task that sat before him. What he was awarded with was the simple shaking of the bottle as it seemed to move slightly in his direction before tipping over on its side. With the cork being back in the bottle there was no need to worry about it spilling.

Leaning back in his seat Xilo breathed heavily as his mental capacity burned in overdrive from him trying to control the force. His chest heaved beneath the suit, but he leaned forward knowing that what he was trying to do was possible. Practice made perfect, though he was a long way away from perfect. Lightyears in fact. Reaching out once again Xilo felt a great pressure on his mind but instead of visualizing himself moving the object he thought of it as him having the force lift the object. And slowly the bottle tilted up taking longer then it should, but eventually it hovered above the ground and floated to Xilo's outstretched hand... He had did it. This wasn't his first time using the force as he had learned to use the force to enhance his body and control it during his time on Vullain, but this was different.

It was said that Darth Sidious had the power to hide his Force-sensitivity to the point that the Jedi could not feel or detect him for what he was and subsequently, the Jedi Order was destroyed with the culmination of a thousand year plan.

Darth Ayra was nothing like Darth Sidious- although conceited, to think in such a way was likely to get herself killed- but she did have the power to hide her Force-sensitivity from others; and when on Chandrila, it was exactly like that. Alicia entered the home, shaking the hand of Mr. Talan and his wife before turning her gaze to Katya. "Is this your daughter? Nice to meet you. My name is Alicia Drey."

"Nope."

Hiding force-sensitivity didn't mean jack when the name Alicia Drey was out there. Bucket remembered the name, or at least her mom had, she'd been the Fringe's military councillor, with access to all the right databases.

The teenager remained seated.

Alicia game Katya a small smile before turning her gaze to Mr. Talan. "Thank you for inviting me in. No, I'll pass on the coffee, thank you." She waved her hand and dismissed the farmers offer. "I'll put it to you simple Mr. Talan. I would like to buy the land around your farm for a fee that I am willing to negotiate and then employ you to continue working the land from your farm for a wage. I am beginning a new corporation called Chandrila DataTech that will be rejuvenating the foodstuffs market that we Chandrilians are so famous for."

"I can see that your crops are suffering from the recent down turn in help due to costs. I know that it is very difficult to hire hands to help you harvest and grow. I am willing to help you, by giving you a steady job and the help you need to continue farming. Chandrila Group will become the owners of your land, you can keep your farm and in return you do what you've always done, by supplying my company with the crops and livestock you grow here."

"Do you have any questions?"

"Hmm."

Mr. Talan frowned heavily and glanced at his wife. She gave a small, melancholic smile. He nodded, crossed his arms and sighed.

"That's quite the offer ma'am. We've contemplated something similar a time or two. The fact is... well, you're right. We've been on some hard times recently. But our friend Kate, she helped us get back on our feet. Got us new equipment and such. I- We've come along way from being refugees. Frankly, I want to put down deep roots here. I've had enough of running. Our children have moved on, but we want this to be a place they can always come back to. And their children. And their children's children. We don't need much here, and I'd prefer to keep our land's ownership entirely. Thank you for the offer."

He extended a hand toward [member="Darth Ayra"].

"I see. Thank you for your time." Alicia stood up and shook the hand of Mr. Talan, before bidding goodbye to his guest and his family. As she made her way down the path, Alicia thought about her options. She hadn't anticipated nor expected a stumbling block in her path to annexing the exports on Chandrila. That appeared to be ignorant on her part, but it was a safe assumption that Mr. Talan would follow the footsteps of Sylas Gorg and the other farmers around Emitya.

Climbing into the car, Alicia told the driver to move onto the next farm. Mr. Talan's had been the second of five farms and she had already negotiated the sale of one. Was it conceivable that the mysterious guest at Talan's farm had done the same to the other three? If so, then whoever the woman had been was a problem. Alicia turned her gaze to Xilo as the car drove. "Perhaps you being here will be more than just an exercise in economics and business," she thought.

Holding the bottle in his hand Xilo took a swig from the bottle. He had been intending to practice a bit more, but he felt Arya approaching once again. She had barely been gone for ten minutes. Looking up Xilo watched her approach and knew something had to of went wrong. But what could've went wrong when someone was offering you money to keep your farm running and even allow you to oversee it. But when Arya entered the vehicle he didn't say anything till the farm was behind them. She hadn't even said anything to Xilo when she had entered. Just said to the next farm. No lesson, no looking over the contract. "So what happened there? That was a bit quick... To quick if you ask me. Especially when compared to the last farm. Did they turn down the offer?" Xilo saw the gaze that Arya was giving him and was more then a bit nervous about it. Just what was she thinking? Was she rethinking the deal? Or just thinking about taking Xilo beneath her wing?

"An unexpected hiccup, that is easily rectified." The farmlands continued to pass by the vehicle. It was getting close to evening. The sun would be up for several more hours. There was still enough time to finish today's venture. "What do you want from this trip, Xilo?" It was an open question. Alicia had tested him, to get his mind on what he wanted and now she had asked him outright. How would he respond?

Nodding his head Xilo highly doubted something could be easily rectified if she had just been denied. Not unless she went with a larger amount of credits. Or simply forced them to go along with the plan. Though she could not do such things directly as it would backlash on her. Yet Xilo let it drop. If she needed anything from him he knew she wouldn't hesitate to ask. Or was this just a test as well? Then the true question came. More then just a test, it was direct and caught Xilo off guard. He knew what he wanted from this trip and it wasn't credits. He wanted to be her apprentice, for her to help him on his path to power. Of course she knew that, and Xilo couldn't put it directly in such a way just in case this was a test.

Eyes looking up at the ceiling of the vehicle Xilo pondered a way to say what he wanted without being to direct. "What I want is more power, but to gain power I need more strength. To gain more strength I need to do plenty of things. Gain more credits, and train myself to be stronger in the force. Though to put it simply to gain these things I must prove myself worthy. So today I came to prove myself." Xilo answered using the basics of the Sith code in with his answer. Arya had taught him the first line of it, but Xilo had learned the others on his own. Through experience.

It helped to have devices such as the one that Alicia held in her pocket. You never knew who was listening these days. With the PSJ activated, Alicia turned her gaze to Xilo. She laughed at him. "You're thinking of the future, forgetting that you are in the present. What do you want from this trip?"

"Past, Present, Future... Anything we've done in the past affects the present as well as the future. While anything we do now will have an effect on our futures." Xilo said simply. To him all of the things were the same. They meant everything and nothing at the same time. Chewing on his own thoughts he liked his lips. He had already said what he wanted out of the trip. "I told you. To prove myself. For you to take me under your wing. You said that I had to prove myself if I wanted to be your apprentice, and here I am. Yet I am confined to the vehicle while you go off to handle business. Nothing to do but practice my use of the force. I can not prove myself in such ways. By being obedient? I crossed the galaxy to answer your call." Xilo's impatience was starting to get the better of him as the sun seemed to barely move. For every minute it felt as if he had spent hours in the car waiting.

"Patience was what made the greats." Alicia leaned forward and picked up another bottle of water. As she unscrewed the cap, she explained. "You are a murderer Xilo. A serial killer. Let us not hide the truth." She lifted the bottle and took swig from it. Lowering it from her lips, Alicia went on to say. "I am a respectable, yet private business woman who has recently liquidated her assets in two corporations, so as to keep them afloat with wealthier entrepreneurs, beginning a new venture to help rejuvenate a market that has been severely crippled."

"Who knows what peoples perspectives, opinions and knowledge are when they come to see or know of you. To be seen with you in public creates questions. Questions lead to answers. Answers lead to revelations. It is how it works." Alicia closed the bottle and rested it on her lap. She turned to look at Xilo. "Suffice to say, you are not meant to be here. Someone like me shouldn't even know who you are, let alone meet with you at cafes, drive around with you in a car or walk into farms with you. The nature of our relationship is clandestine."

"You are here for three reasons Xilo. The first is for me to see as to whether or not you changed after our time together on Coruscant. The second is to learn more about you and the third as a form of protection to my investment. It will please you to know that I am satisfied that you are a changed man. I can work with that. I have learned a lot about you. You might just have a bigger role to play today, as it comes to happen."

"I am a meticulous woman, Xilo. If one of these farmers didn't play ball, then I had other options available. One of them was you. I've explained what I could have done to Sylas Gorg if he refused to sign my contract and what I could do after he signed it and the same applies to the farmer that I just left and the ones I am about to meet with."

"There might be someone I need you to remove. That's why you are here Xilo. To see if you can serve the work that I do. To see if you could kill for it."

The third farm was coming up on the horizon. They were nearly there.

Kate yawned, stretching.

"Well," she covered her mouth with a hand, "that was interesting."

Mr. Talan grunted.

"Bet the same offer is happening to the other farms in the area. Corporate execs tend to like to buy large or not at all." She took out a deck of cards out and began shuffling them from one hand to the other. "I should probably go check on them, in case Miss Business ends up being a little more insistent."

"Good idea," Mr. Talan jerked a thumb. "Don't forget your pistol and vor'cha."

Kate smirked, blue eyes mischievous. "Oh please." She got up and was suddenly engulfed in an embrace from the Mrs.

"Thank you, dearest. You be careful."

The teenager hugged the woman back. "Don't worry about me."

Several moments later, she was waltzing out the door, QQ-83n sidearm on one hip, Vor'cha stick on the other. She'd gone to the restroom and changed back into her beskar'gam. The black and gold color scheme was a little faded from use, but otherwise fairly intact. Not that she could get it repaired anytime soon. The Mandos didn't exactly take kindly to a Dar'manda.

Snorting, Kate hooked the helmet onto a side hook of her speeder and revved the engine. Her armor didn't have a jetpack. Because jetpacks were stupid. Seriously, who the hell thought running around with a large fuel tank on their back was a good idea? She hit the accelerator and zipped off toward the nearest of the farms she'd helped, dark hair whipping about, eyes narrowed against the wind.
