Not the average good guy

Pulling a vibriosword from a rack, Gherron activated it and readied himself. "I'll admit, I do enjoy fighting. But... to learn Soresu I did my best to put that part of me aside. I often find myself slipping up, but maybe it's not my fault. Maybe I jus need to let it go in a different form than I've been doing. Vapaad seems like a good way to do that."

[member="Krest"]

Krest waved a hand dismissively at [member="Gherron Vael"] . "No no. No vibroblades or swords. Your lightsaber. A vibroblade has a different feel in Vapaad, if you want to be effective quicker you should always start training with your weapon of choice."

Raising his eyebrows, Gherron turned off the blade and set it back on its rack. Walking back over to his previous position, he pulled out his lightsaber and ignited it, watching as a brilliant pale blue blade leaped forth. "Alright, what're you waiting for? Let's go." He rememered what it felt like to be in the rush of a fight. Feeling pain when he got knocked in the teeth, but still being arrogant enough to continue, just out of sheer thrill. Those emotions flooded back to him now, and he found himself smiling at the concept.

Krest kept his distance, simply watching [member="Gherron Vael"] . If the Zabrak were to attack first, where would be the training? "Vapaad is about offence. Disarm me, and you'll have understood the concept." He visibly flexes his robotic hand before clamping it down to the hilt of his blade. "Simply over power my defense. Shouldn't be too hard. You're not like an apprentice or two I've taught."

Nodding, Gherron walked over to where he was within a few feet of the zabrak, and began circling him. Determination fired off in his eyes, and [member="Krest"] would realize that this Jedi would not give up too easily. He would continue to try until he got it right, no matter the cost. Eventually, when he figured he'd found an opening, he struck twice, once in the chest to catch his opponent off guard, and then towards the saber hand.

Krest flicked his blade around to catch [member="Gherron Vael"] 's saber along it's edge, grinning to himself. It wasn't a hard concept, that much was for sure, and the Jedi clearly had the idea down. The second slash knocked the Zabrak's blade away, but still in his grasp. He lept backwards, holding the blade in a tighter grip. This may not take long.

His first attempt, had failed, but Gherron learned something. It seemed to him that the zabrak would try to keep him as far away as possible, thus making it easier to maintain control. The idea reminded him partly of Soresu, where he would do very much the same, just on a different basis. Pressing on, he aimed three blows this time, aiming the first two at the prosthetic leg, bringing his pommel up to hit the face for the final strike. Maybe he couldn't break that grip, but he could weaken it.

[member="Krest"]

Krest watched [member="Gherron Vael"] charged in. He brought his blade down, pushing off the mans strikes. This part was easy. Blocking a burning blue blade always was, but the pommel was more then a surprise to the Zabrak. He took it to the chin, causing him to stumble backwards, one hand rubbing his chin, the other still holding Deus up in some form of a guard.

Gherron smirked as he felt the pommel of his lightsaber connect with his opponent's chin. Thinking this as the perfect time to strike again, while he thought [member="Krest"] was dazed, he attempted to push back what little defense the zabrak had and finish the fight. In the case that his plan actually worked, he would knock on the man's wrist hard with his hilt, so as to force the weapon out of his hands from pain and dizziness.

Deus soared through the air from the Zabraks grasp, sinking into the floor itself. Thankfully it didn't keep going down, but it was jammed in there. Krest shook his hand though, letting the gears within wine as he worked out the kinks. Defense was never Krest's strong suit, but this was more about getting [member="Gherron Vael"] to feel the excitement. Both red hands went up as he smiled to the man. "You understand. Good. Vapaad is about enjoying the fight and always attacking. Preventing your opponent from recovering. Simple, isn't it? It's the control part that isn't."

Once the weapon sailed out of the man's grasp, Gherron aimed his lightsaber at his throat with a small smile, then let it down, the blade collapsing back into its hull. "I do know a thing about control, believe it or not." He walked over and gave a good tug at the deus, wrenching it free from the group to inspect it. Walking back over to [member="Krest"], he handed the weapon to him. "It only took me a year's worth of street fights to get the hang of it", he continued, rubbing his jaw with a smirk. "I learned real quick that without control, raw power is nothing. You have to know when and where to hit, and when not to." He chuckled at his own words. "Geez, I sound like a philosopher now. If I could meet myself from three years ago, he'd punch me square in the jaw. And I do know what that feels like, all too well."

Krest smirks, twirling his blade lightly in his grasp. "Control is indeed important. Without it, who knows what would be caught in the cross fire. But yes, you've gotten it down fairly well. I mean, there really is nothing to teach with it, just show."

[member="Gherron Vael"]

Gherron pondered that for a moment. "So what you're telling me is, I've technically known Vapaad all along." He smirked in return. The concept pleased him, sure. However, now he felt that he really didn't learn much. If he had always known, then really all this was was a practice sparring session. In fact, the thought gave him an idea. What if [member="Krest"] could be a new sparring partner? It was something to think on.

Krest only offered a shrug to [member="Gherron Vael"] . "Probably. You'll figure out techniques and combos and all that yourself. Each person has their own unique style after all. But hey, you can teach me Soresu now." He grinned, winking at the man. Yes, he was excited about learning a defensive stance finally.

Gherron smirked and nodded curtly. Clipping his lightsaber to his belt, he once again brought out the vibroblade, and turned it on. "Trust me, i'm gonna need it. The best way to learn Soresu is to experience the pain, find a way to suck it up, and learn from it. I will hit you. And I see you've already lost a couple of appendages, so I don't want to add any to the list. Now, first, stance is important. You're going to have all the maneuverability of a rock, so stand firm like this." To demonstrate, he showed [member="Krest"] the proper initiating stance for the form.

Krest nodded his head, mirroring [member="Gherron Vael"] . Yeah, loosing a limb again would such, but it wouldn't be a new concept to him. "Very well. Go easy on me though, it's my first time." He grins, offering Vael a wink. He was ready.

Gherron smirked at the man's plea, shaking his head. "The only good way is if I give it my all, so you'll do the same. Otherwise, you'll never learn. Now, defend!" Raising the blade, he executed a powerful downward slash.

[member="Krest"]

Krest set his second hand on the hilt of his blade, lifting the metal edge upwards to catch the slash. He slipped backwards from it, still moving. Which, wasn't how Soresu was done. But he figured he was doing alright, at least in his own mind. [member="Gherron Vael"] probably would tell him otherwise if he didn't right?

Pressing on with minorly-enhanced strength from the force, Gherron nodded in approval at the zabrak. Yes, he'd said not to move, but he didn't mean it literally. The object of Soresu was to not move too much, which [member="Krest"] seemed to understand. For the moment, he would see just how long his trainee could hold out.

Krest kept to the defensive then. Well, as he should. He would mostly keep up, shifting back now and then as he went to catch the vibroblade along the edge of his own sword. He was good about it, but it didn't stop him from faltering, his blade dropping lower then it should, the vibroblade nicking his flesh. He would hold many cuts from this, but none serious enough to warrant worry.
