Mishel showed up looking very much ready for camp and with her a basket of fast food. She shoved her sunglasses up to the top of her head and walked along the water front toward the boathouse. Elbright City, had been quite welcoming and who'd have thunk it that Mando Burger was right here too? Maybe, just maybe Mishel could make use of her First Order education and get into this whole business gig. Granted, she was a drop out from college having only just completed her freshman year. Still, her flip flops could be heard along the wooden planks and it wasn't hard to spot her sister [member="Alessandra Creed"]. Although if Mishel was going to be honest, she spotted the blue ice cream stand first. She paused a moment somewhere between the boathouse and the water front. "I do have it," she grinned at the sight of Photon Fizzle as it rested neatly within her basket. Photon floats here we come, she thought, "awww look at you all dainty and nice."

She teased Ale while getting a look at their surroundings. Mishel noted [member="Kurenai Yumi"] and [member="Gerwald Lechner"] before she began to set the reception desk with food. "So I wasn't sure what to get you, I mean normally I just bring you Uxibeast food like y'know a salad but I thought given your..." She made circle with her index finger, "situation." Mishel then resumed unpacking the basket, "I would just kinda go wild, so we have the Double Meat BBQ Nerfburger, which I highly recommend, we have the Rontho Rump Nuggets, they were two for ten so I got that, nuna bacon and blue cheese protato wedges, Shimian onion rings with their special sauce. I got a couple of quarter pound Nerfburgers and I brought some Photon Fizzle... and a few other things here, you go, cheesy protato wedges, curled fried protatoes..."

"And here are some napkins... and a straw for your drink."

"I mean if you want me to get a salad I can, also did I see blue ice cream? Cause you know, that just means we need to make Photon floats."

will you sink down to me?

Across the shallow strait separating the Elbright City boathouse from the opposite shoreface, Damsy had beached herself. Periodically, she rolled over on the golden sand in an attempt to sun herself at least somewhat evenly. Her bare skin, though dark mocha even in her squaloid form, was quite susceptible to burns because she had lived out most of her life in the lightless abyss.

As she flipped herself onto her back, she covered her eyes to shield them from the sun. And to will herself to stop...thinking so much. About Copero, about Metus, about Vexia, about A'Runda. And all those innocent Chiss... Whenever she had gone hunting on Kamino, she had taken care to not senselessly kill every fish that got in the way of her and her predetermined target. Doing so would not only be wasteful, but--

Gahhh! She tuned back over to bury her nose partway into the sand. Evidently, willpower was not the sithspawn's strong suit.

Quickly raising her head, Damsy shook the sand off her face. She didn't--the CIS didn't--need this right now. Possibly, there would never be a place for it. As a good solider now, Damsy would simply have to learn to bear orders that she didn't agree with. Certainly, the most recent mission wouldn't represent the last.

But, in any case, she had to let her regrets fade, at least for now.

A single, four-seater variant of the sleek M-86 landspeeder coasted its way across the green fields. Driving it was Cassius Droma, one hand on the wheel, the other resting on the head rest next to him. Strangely, he rarely ever traveled this way. Most of the time he was zipping through the sky, taking in everything from above. Down here, on the surface… it was a little slower. He had some time to appreciate the sights and sounds. Granted, he had to enjoy it while it lasted. From what he understood, he’d soon be heading into territory that wouldn’t exactly be pleasant to stick around in.

Hoylin. Not exactly a planet he ever thought he would visit again. Last time he was here, he was involved in a rather intense aerial battle, all in order to fight off a group of traders that had led them on in a conspiracy. Everything had happened so fast that day, it was easy to forget, sometimes. It had been towards the very beginning of his Jedi career, so he’d had quite a few adventures since. He was so much more competent now, more secure in his Jedi journey.

His current mentor, Gianna Aegis, had requested his presence on this assignment. It sounded dangerous, so of course he decided to come along. Gianna was a Knight, more skilled than he, but in some ways, Cassius had skills and experience that would complement hers. He figured that she would appreciate his help no matter what, and that maybe he could learn a few things along the way. If they could find any of those that had disappeared into what had been dubbed the Nothing, that was just more people they could help. In addition, there was a mystery about it that Cassius couldn’t deny he wanted to solve.

He was quickly coming up on Gianna’s transponder signal, and couldn’t fight the smile that was starting to form on his face. As much as he wanted to surprise her, he knew that she could feel his presence from a lightyear away, and he hers. Even now, he could feel the absolute electricity she was giving off.

The landspeeder slowly crawled to a halt next to the two Jedi Knights, and Cassius casually hopped out of the side, leaning against the blue body of the speeder.

“I hope you two weren’t planning on walking the whole way.”

There was no telling what the terrain would be where they were traveling, and whether or not the landspeeder could traverse all of it. Regardless, it would certainly help for the massive stretch of plains they were about to cross.

It was a little strange to have a student that was so tall not that it really mattered, if he wanted to learn so be it, in time a somewhat broken reply permeated from the mans head questioning her identity and task. "Teacher instructor, sensi anything, it does not really matter, but to answer your question yes I am Mrs Yumi, you have come right on time, the grill has just reached peak temperature and it seemed I've already got an order". Said order being from a certain [member="Alessandra Creed"] yearning for food like a staving animal on the brink of death, but also seeming to challenge her culinary skills.

Turning back she began to address the giant man and a few other lesser knights who had been drawn to the sizzling smell of food cooking. "I will start of the day by running you through the basics of making a small but well known dish know as Okonomiyaki". "In short it is a savory pancake with many different ingredients, it is very customizable, hence the name, the first part Okonomi meaning 'how you like' with the latter part Yaki meaning cooked, more or less it's a build your own batter pancake". Turning around she showed the small class the many different food stuffs prepared ranging from meats and seafood, vegetables, certain fruits and much more. "Once cooked you are able to use different sorts of dressing to spike up the taste", once again showing the class a variety of sources and toppings, soy to chocolate.

Using the force to grab a bowl she started to walk back behind the makeshift counter, "I will start with a simple demonstration, just to show you how to mix the ingredients together along with pouring and how long to grill them". "Once done you all can try yourself, just make sure to give me a holler if you need help with anything". She would wait a few seconds, letting the information sink in, getting a few nods from the other students before starting the demonstration, beginning by placing some type of green onions, chopped up shrimp and some other small bite and pieces, slowly mixing them into the batter. After a few seconds she moved over tot he grill, quickly pouring in a 20cm diameter round cake, a sharp sizzle coming from the heating elements as the cold liquid came into contact with it permeating it's smell into the Dojo.

"There is no real time limit for cooking this dish, it depends on your personal preference, soft and a bit runny, medium rare or crispy well done, all are just as viable, just make sure not to burn it or leave it to short a time it falls apart instantly". The small demonstration would go ahead without much problem Kurnai choosing the flip the food item before finally serving it on a place, giving a crisscross dressing of soy sauce to top things off. "Each of you may pick up a bowel and begin to pick your ingredients, there should be more then enough batter to go around". "Ill come back to oversee the cooking, but before that I need to make a small delivery". Leaving the students to their own devices she made a quick beeline for Ms Creed, finding her at a reception desk, handing out goodie bags for those attending.

"Here is your sustenance if you so choose to eat it, it's contains shrimp, onion and some other small vegetables" "Or if you wan I can just cook up some meat and give that to you plain and simple", she explained, placing the plate down in front of her along with a knife and fork.

For all the socializing, the struggles on Tatooine, the Confederacy politics, Helly reveled in the opportunity to spend time alone. Her home planet of Coruscant didn't have woods like this, but it was equally as peaceful as a vacant lot or a high rise... Well, maybe not as peaceful as a high rise.

She had set up a tent just for her, and her favorite bands played on her headphones while she closed her eyes behind sunglasses atop a folded chair that didn't feel the greatest for her back. The air was cool and felt good to breathe, the sun that made its way past the canopies was warm and soothing, and she had made sure that her internal batteries were at full charge. Even with her senses null at that moment, she had a sensor that would track any movement in or out of a certain range of her camp that would buzz if she needed to be made aware. It was tucked gently in her left hand, her trust placed in it entirely.

Feeling it buzz, her eyes opened and her sunglasses were lifted to see a small blue bird of some kind hopping just a few feet away from her tent. She waited for it to fly off, prompting another buzz, then closed her eyes once more.

Her lips mouthed the lyrics she was listening to, feeling the music deep in her artificial bones. She swayed her head from side to side ever so slightly, almost instinctively reaching for a microphone that didn't exist. Almost every song she listened to those days made her want to perform a cover of it, but she rarely ever would. Almost every time she would try, she would have rather been making her own music instead.

Part of her felt like that was all she should do, that this foray into politics was just getting in over her head. Just because she was ignoring the articles to come out about her after this decision didn't mean they weren't there. She had read so many in the past, she could likely imagine exactly how they were written from each publication. What managed to get under her skin the most were the ones who acted as if they were jaded from reporting on her, like she herself was some big galactic corporation. She was one person, and if she wasn't absolutely perfect, she would be chewed apart by journalists who acted like the galaxy wasn't in constant danger not from the actions of musicians, but from literal Empires that would strive to control what they were allowed to write about. One might think that they would be more concerned about that.

Taking a deep breath, she shook her head and tried forgetting about all of the negativity in her head. This was supposed to be helping her find relief from all of that, not riling her up further.

Another buzz had her opening her eyes again, then lifting her sunglasses. Nothing could be seen around her. There was a size limit on what the sensor would detect, so it wasn't as if an insect could have triggered it. Maybe it was another bird that flew by just at the edges.

She hadn't realized how late it had gotten. The sun would already be fading into the distant mountains soon, and her alone time would need to continue inside her tent instead of out in the open.

It buzzed again, and this time she could see that nothing was there. If it had anything to do with the Force being used back at camp, she wished it would stop for her own peace of mind. There were many odd things in the galaxy that could interfere with any kind of signal, and it was sometimes miraculous that those same oddities hadn't gone awry and killed thousands in the blink of an eye. Forces beyond comprehension were just that, however.

She stood from her seat, sensor still in hand, and opened a single fold of her tent as a chill wind blew by her, accompanied by a sound that sent the hairs on the back of her neck straight up. Helly stood completely still while listening to the sound of the harsh screech fading into the distant woods. Her eyes remained wide open as she hesitantly glanced around to her immediate surroundings, seeing nothing out of place in the slightest. It had been fleeting, that awful noise, but it would stay with her for longer, replayed in her head over and over.

Dropping the sensor, she made her way back to camp where she would feel comfortable again. That was the entire reason for this outing, to find comfort away from her usual dealings. Maybe going out on her own wasn't the best idea on this foreign planet, knowing almost nothing about it other than its natural beauty. A true vacation would have to wait for another time.

But... where was the camp? She could practically see it through the trees before, but she couldn't see anything but the woodland expanse in front of her. She knew the camp was there. It was right there. She knew.

Taking a moment to step back and breathe, she rested her head against a tree before walking back to her tent. She made sure beyond a shadow of a doubt that she was facing the right way first, then headed back in that direction.

Nothing.

That was impossible. The entire campsite couldn't have just vanished in the blink of an eye, and surely she would have seen or heard something if anything had changed. She may have been wearing headphones, but that couldn't have made that much of a difference. Something wasn't right, and as she delved deeper and deeper into the woods, she feared that she would find herself lost soon. The phone in her pocket was retrieved quickly as she attempted to contact anyone from the Confederacy. She would come to find out that no communications could be made with anyone, as there was no galaxy with which to connect to.

Signals like that didn't just drop, they were official and spanned the entirety of the Holonet, that didn't just happen.

She began shouting.

"METUS!" she yelled, her breathing starting to pick up in pace. "SRINA! ADRON! ALESSANDRA!" Nothing cried back, not even so much as a whisper. "Anyone."

The sun had made its way behind the mountains by then, and her mind was racing. Someone was playing a trick on her. Some kind of illusory magic or Force nonsense. The woods just kept on going. No clearings, no structures, just the distant stars in the night sky. They teased and taunted her from afar, knowing that she would do anything at that moment to travel to just about any of them instead of this.

That was when the singing began.

It was a woman's voice, and it had nothing to sing but one haunting note that echoed all throughout the woods. Trying to guess where it was coming from was nigh impossible, they just kept rolling and stretching off into the distance. The woods had no escape, not this way.

As the night grew darker, she ran back to where she came from, relieved at the very least to have found her tent again. Maybe the morning would bring things back to the way they were. She shut herself inside her tent and took deep breaths as the note was lowered by one octave. Her headphones went back over her ears and her sensor went back into her hand. The music drowned out the singing from outside, but she kept her eyes open, glued to the tent's entrance.

All she needed to do was last the night. That was the goal she set for herself, and whether or not anything would change by morning would be a worry she could concern herself with when the time came. Maybe the forest shifted. Maybe the camp was becoming further and further away from her the longer she waited.

The sound coming from her headphones stopped abruptly, and she checked them to make sure they were still working. They were. Lights on and everything. But no sound would come out of them.

In her hand, she felt the sensor vibrate for a brief moment. This time, something was there. She could hear the long breaths that would fade into the cold air, only to come back several moments later. No shadows could be seen, but the tent still wavered in its presence. The singing had come to a halt, and all she could hear was the breathing outside. By then, her entire body was shaking as she reached a hand to her side to quietly raise the hilt of her blue lightsaber. If it came down to how well she could defend herself, she knew she didn't have much of a chance, but she would make an effort regardless. This wouldn't be how she went out.

Instead of a breath, Helly could hear a low, guttural noise as the walls of her tent were closing in around her, twisting unnaturally until she ignited the blade of her saber and cut through it, tearing it asunder as it fell flat around her. Nothing was nearby, not even the breathing. It was pure silence as she watched her breaths forming fog in each direction she faced, lit by the glowing neon of her weapon. Her left hand reached for her belt this time, retrieving her red saber as she immediately fired it up.

She soon made herself dizzy from her twirling around, scanning the area to the best of her ability in the dark of night. Swearing she saw something at a distance from her, she froze up momentarily before bolting in the other direction. With only her sabers to light her path, she ran as fast as she could, cutting through any branches low enough to act as an obstacle. Waiting out the night wasn't going to work. Whatever the morning brought, it wasn't worth staying still.

The singing began yet again at the same note as before, traveling like the wind itself through the trees and over the dirt. The more she ran, the louder it became and the colder the air dropped. She didn't know where to go otherwise, so she continued dashing through the woods, not a leaf in sight atop the canopies any longer. Her legs kept carrying her further and further until she came upon a distinctly human figure. Someone was there, but they stood still, facing her in the shade away from her sabers.

As she approached, she could make out that it was a younger girl, standing at half Helly's size, head of familiar blonde. She knew that face more than she was willing to admit, given that it was her own before the accident. When she was still human.

The girl gave her an inquisitive look, asking, "What are you running from?"

Helly didn't respond, merely panting as her eyes betrayed her confusion.

"I wanna go home," the girl went on. "Why can't we be home right now?"

Quietly, Helly shook her head as her eyes continued to look into her own, just breathing.

The girl turned away from her, beginning to walk off into the darkness as she faded into nothing. Helly was left to stand there, wondering, unsure, vulnerable. Bells tolled in the distance, and this time the noise had a source. Her feet began moving again as she followed it, no longer in such a hurry.

_______________________

The younger Jedi's unbridled warmth and energy was oddly touching, and Gianna had caused Amilthi some amount of headache because of it. It was initially almost despite herself that Amilthi had taken a liking to her. Only after some time had she come to understand that there was more depth to it than she had at first given Gianna credit for. It was not naïveté or shallowness that made her what she was - this was a cultivated mode of being. It was intriguing, and Amilthi wondered what it was like to be her - to feel so connected to everyone and everything, and so positive. Amilthi knew what joy was, and bliss and ecstasy, they were part of a well-surveyed range of states she could access almost at will when she chose to, at least if she was given a quiet spot to meditate. But these were intensely personal experiences - or at least, since the notion of her own person became questionable at times, they were not inter-personal. The feeling of shared emotions, of a joint experience - that was something foreign to Amilthi.

The transition between the two regions of the planet was abrupt; there was practically a border. One side was colourful, peaceful, positively idyllic. And on the other side, the world looked bleaker, it was darker, the colours were washed out, and reality itself felt differently - more threatening. Amilthi had asked Gianna to wait for a minute, and while her companion watched her, she went back and forth a few metres a couple of times, in each instance observing the change attentively, monitoring how her own feelings shifted. When she stood in the Nothing, she couldn't feel the warmth of Gianna's smile from the other side anymore. Amilthi noted all this with a kind of detached curiosity, the years of mental training allowed her not to detach from the different internal states into which the environment put her instead of being sucked into them; but there was no telling what this phenomenon could do to a less developed mind.

This was no ordinary plague by any means, not a matter of pathogens, of biochemistry, and perhaps not even of physics, at least not exclusively. This was a spiritual sickness. Amilthi's first thought was that reality on this planet had somehow split, separated into two aspects that were opposites of each other and each removed from normality in their respective direction.

Amilthi stepped out onto the green field again and approached the other Jedi. She wasn't looking straight at her, a pensive expression on her face. Eventually she raised her eyes to meet Gianna's and smiled faintly. Perhaps because she was the elder of the two, Amilthi felt a certain responsibility. But having considered the situation, she was not concerned - she was confident in Gianna's mental resilience, and it comforted her to know that they were not getting themselves into anything they couldn't handle. Nevertheless, she said a gentle word of warning. "Be mindful when you cross the border - reality feels different there, threatening and hopeless. At least to me. It's a bit abrupt."

Just as they were about to move on, however, the sound of an engine because audible in the distance, rapidly approaching. Amilthi remembered Cassius Droma as Romi Jade's student. That would have given her more confidence if it hadn't been for recent events, and she hadn't been altogether displeased when he hadn't answered Gianna's message. The whole topic of dragging Padawans into dangerous affairs seemed like a complicated issue to Amilthi that she had yet to resolve. Given how little compunction most of her fellow Jedi had about this, her concerns might have seemed silly, and perhaps they were - but she could not pass that verdict before thinking about it deeply, and she had not found, or taken, the time to do so.

But Amilthi pushed aside whatever misgivings she might have had, and greeted Cassius with a friendly smile. "Hello, Cassius. I'm glad to see you well", she said earnestly.

The Minister of War stood in the cabin he'd been assigned to teach his classes. He'd been called a Counsellor, a teacher at Camp Star Lake. It was a beautiful place, entirely unfitting for what had happened to him recently. His grandmother had passed away due to a highly aggressive form of bone marrow cancer. He was wearing an all black suit each day for a month after her death to mourn her. He had a great deal of respect for her, she'd outlived his own mother by nearly three decades. He'd replaced the banners, sheets, and rugs in his personal cabin, that he was staying in with ones of a black silk. He'd have to explain the situation to his students, if they arrived.

He raised his head from the bowing position it had been in as he prayed for his grandmother, and looked around, starting to set things up for the class. He was teaching leadership, diplomacy and the art of war, all at once. It would be hard. He'd set up a few holotables with battle simulations set up, he had books on leadership, war, and diplomacy set out on the tables. He wrote his name on the holoboard up the front, to save him the effort of saying it, though he'd have to at some point anyway.

The Minister of War sat down in his desk, pushing the chair back, and put his head in his hands.

Hoylin, a beautiful place. Gray had come here to relax, and get to know the others in the CIS, as he hadn't really talked with them that much. The life of a smuggler. But now he was here, and ready for the beach and to meet people. And he had also heard they wanted meilooran fruits here, so he had made sure to bring some when he decided to go there.

Now, he was walking on the Beach, enjoying the weather. Normally, he preffered rain or colder weather, but now and then it was Nice With sun and warmth. He was wearing shorts, held up by his belt With his blasters in. Danger could be found anywhere. He also had a loose shirt on, in the color red. And a pair of short boots, With a knife stuck in. He doubted he would need any weapons, but he took them anyway.

As he walked, he heard a grunt and some talking about a Battle nearby. The Battle was probably the one that had recently been on Copera. Gray hadn't participated in it, mainly because he had other jobs at the time. A smuggler couldn't choose his work hours. This mention of a Battle interested him, so he went over to them. "I heard you mention a Battle. The one on Copero? How did it og?"

There was certainly something to be said about a compliment given from his fellow Exarch. While they were often quite basic and a bit awkward they were meaningful. Of course her promise to do him harm if he crossed the training dojo only called for a brief chuckle in response. Adron was not sure to her hand to hand combat however he was sure it was masterful. It was in her blood to be proficient in unarmed combat, just as it was in his blood to win. He leaned back on the table where his blades sat while he glanced over towards the dojo's doors. As they opened a small slew of hopefuls entered.

They were dressed in the armor of the Knight's Obsidian and seemed eager to fix a few of their more minor problems. Adron took hold of one of the training sabers, holding it out to the Knight. Immediately he noticed a fatal flaw. The Knight was holding his weapon far too loosely.

"From the moment you take that weapon in your hand hold it like it's an actual weapon." He took another of the training sabers in his hand and slapped the deactivated rod against the Knight's watching as it fell from his hand and slamming into the ground. "Or that will happen."

Adron leveled himself against the night as he brought his blade to life. He glanced at the Knight's stance and gestured to the distance in between his hand and his abdomen. "You hold your blade too close. If I hit your blade it could slap into your face, Knight." Although he was far from a novice, the Knight certainly had a few things in need of correction.

Gerwald's attention had been on his food. While he waited for someone to show interest in tracking and hunting he decided that he would work on smoking several racks of ribs, hot links, shoulder roasts for shredded sandwiches, and naturally he had a separate grill going for the steaks that he was cooking. There were not a lot of vegetables, if any, to what he was making, though he did have plans to throw some corn on later.

That was when he heard a voice in his head.

Alessandra Creed, the woman wanted food, and the first one to bring her something edible got a bonus. Gerwald shrugged. His meat could not be rushed, but it would certainly be edible. That was the thing about food, often times when people cooked hastily it did not bring about the desired flavor profile or tender and melt in your mouth qualities that were preferred by most. That was why Gerwald patiently let his meat work the way it needed to. Only when he was satisfied with the look of it did he plate up the food.

He walked over to where Alessandra was standing and set a plate down for her next to the one [member="Kurenai Yumi"] had laid out for her.

"Three rib bones, a four ounce steak, one hotlink, and all the sauce is on the side. No vegetables. Wolves don't have much use for them anyway."

Gerwald grinned and then stepped back. He really did not care if he won. He was simply proud of his food.

Objective: Rehearse Stories
Location: By the lake

Letting out another pained cough behind his mask, A'Runda moved along a path next to the lake's shores. He was still very much weakened over what happened to him during the invasion. Becoming far more gaunt then he ever had before. Fortunately he was now a part of the "civilized" world. He was currently talking to himself as he moved. Thinking over the stories he knew from his life in a Tusken tribe. He still wanted to hang around his fellow confederates despite feeling like he was dying.

At least he had the strength to pull through on Copero, otherwise he'd just be a irradiated husk on the planet from having a tiny star blast him with atomic power. Either that he would've been cooked alive from the energy, with his clothes and skin being set ablaze. But that wasn't the case, and he was thankful to still be around.

Not only was he needing to recite stories to the absolute best of his ability to respect the traditions of Tusken oral storytelling. But he needed to translate it as well. Since Tusken wasn't the most sophisticated of languages he was having a bit of trouble. Needing to add a lot more words in order for it to make since while still staying true to the original.

However, through his red tinted lenses A'Runda caught something in his sight. Looking over it looked like a body laying on the sand next to the lake. Yet it didn't look human to him, but there was a sense of familiarity coming from them. Looking directly at it he made his way over some. They looked like a half fish half human. Being faced down he couldn't tell if they were just resting or were in need of help. But then they lifted their head and A'Runda recognized who it was. "Damsy?!" He exclaimed with confusion while falling back on the sand. Where were her legs? Was she wearing a costume? No, it looked too real! He wasn't scared he was just shocked at what he was seeing.

Alessandra had a boatload of sack lunches in front of her. It had never occurred to her to break into one of them while the scent of something fresh and mouth-watering lingered in the air. Truly, she seemed to think of it as almost inedible, simply because, it came in a brown disposable bag. She could feel her sister making the approach and some of her irritation waned. The Minister of Commerce was well aware that if [member="Mishel Noren"] were not related to her, by blood, that she would have likely locked her in a pit somewhere and locked away the key. Mishel was a menace.

But, Mishel was her menace and that was all that mattered.

She pulled down her pair of sunglasses when Jedi commented on her attire. Briefly, she surveyed her sister and decided that overall she had dressed herself adequately. Her eyes narrowed. Had Shia helped? She actually looked like a young woman. She looked…Nice. “You’re late….But you aren’t crossing stripes and polka-dots. I’m proud of you.”

Photon Fizzle. She could smell the carbonation a mile away. The Minister of Commerce did her best not to look like Mishel had just answered all of her gestational period prayers, though, her stomach almost hurt from. This was agonizing. How could one small difference make her want to eat everything in sight? Twice? The raven-haired Creed accepted the napkins graciously and shook her head. “No, this is fine. I don’t know if I could really stomach a salad right now…”

Also, insanity. Alessandra had always eaten well, deliberately healthy, to maintain the physique that she easily flaunted. Chocolate eyes drifted between Mishel and the Blue Ice Cream stand. Back and forth. Slowly but surely. Her lips pursed for a moment, before she nodded her head, as temptation and intense cravings won out. “Make it happen. Ice cream, please.”, she amended, handing back her drink, though not without a certain sense of loss.

As if the smorgasbord of carbs, salt, and grease wasn’t enough—her previous distress call was answered by both [member="Kurenai Yumi"] and [member="Gerwald Lechner"] as well. The Minister was so pleased, even discretely, that they both might wind up with an extra little something on their stipend. When the weapons master arrived Alessandra couldn’t help the little smile that crossed her features. “Thank you, Ms. Yumi. This is perfect and it smells wonderful.”, her stomach agreed wholeheartedly. Appetizer, it said. “Though I might take you up on the plain options you mentioned later today.”

Snack time. Baby Malvern-Creed, boy or girl, liked snack time. After this “condition” ended she was never, ever, eating again.

[member="Gerwald Lechner"] set his dish down between what [member="Mishel Noren"] and [member="Kurenai Yumi"] had provided and for a moment Alessandra almost felt a little misty. It was an autonomic reaction, completely inappropriate, but her hormones were all out of whack. She pushed her sunglasses back in place quickly so no one would notice and she instead gave a stunning smile. “And thank you Mr. Lechner. My parasitic little bundle of joy seems to agree with the wolf diet. Protein is much appreciated.”

Though, that didn’t mean, she wouldn’t be eating the vegetables that Ms. Yumi brought. Or the protato wedges that Mishel had brought. Picking up a utensil she first tried a little bit of the shrimp, which, she thoroughly enjoyed. Then a bite of steak. Ribs, she wasn’t truly sure how to eat. It smelled good but she was terribly puzzled… “How do I get this off the bone with a knife and fork?”

Improvisation.

She pulled on the Force and telekinetically picked a little bite of meat off, before spearing it with her fork, so that she could test it too. Oh, that was good. Her head bobbed a little and she picked up her data-pad to wire a significant amount of credits from her personal account to both chefs.

“You both win. Don’t spend it everywhere at once.”

When Mishel came back with her Photon Float she would make her sibling try both things as well, considering, that it wasn’t often that their tastes ran the same wavelength.

Either way, the reception would be much friendlier since the ravenous black hole in her mid-section was being tended to. Alessandra was not a cuddly creature, by any means, but she was used to cut-throat negotiations and typically wound up resolving issues through large credit deposits. Whomever had placed her in charge of this booth had seriously been lacking sense.

A droid, probably, would have handled it better.

Damsy rose one of her hands from the beach, taking it out from under her, and shifted so that she would still be able to hold herself up. Then she looked up, shielding her eyes, though it didn't do much use--without her helmet visior she couldn't make out who stood above her. But, gauging just by the voice, Damsy assumed she didn't know whoever it was...at least, not well. They had fought together on Rodia.

"Uhhh," she began. "No...well, kind of." She shrugged. "I'm trying not to. Wait...you won't tell, will you?"

Another voice seemed to come out of nowhere. How did it go? Damsy hadn't really paid attention to the bigger picture, instead opting to focus on her own team and mission. "Well, we're alive," was all she felt comfortable saying, in the general direction of whoever had joined into the conversation.

But then she didn't know what else to say. Fortunately, she heard her name, distant and erratic, carrying over the salted air. "Sorry," she muttered, hoping that much would do for a dismissal. She pulled herself down the shore and dove into the oncoming tide once it was deep enough to swim in. She failed to recognize the voice, thanks to the distance it had traveled, but knew she would find out soon enough.

The shallow water in the strait, relative to sea, forced Damsy to swim close to the surface, allowing the crystal waters to part around her long spine fin and leave a delicate wake behind her. Effortlessly, she beached herself on the beachfront, not far from A'Runda. "Who's that?" she asked.

Wide eyed he watched as Damsy seemed to zip into the water only to come back onto the beach in front of him and his more prone position. "uhAH!" He exclaimed, mainly from surprise then anything else. Now getting a closer look he saw that it was indeed Damsy. He was taken back some from her question. "Wh-What do you mean? It's me, A'Runda. What happened to you?" He swore, if this was some kind of messed up Jen'ari sorcery they cursed her with. He was gonna be acting as a one man invasion.

Getting his butt off the sand he knelt down in front of her to get closer. Perhaps then she could see him better. Taking a deep breath he calmed himself some. Since he didn't want to scare her off or anything. He knew that she wasn't human from their first meeting... But then she had legs.

With his mind racing he felt like he needed to conclude why her back half was far more hydrodynamic then he last remembered. Then, as if a little light bulb turned on above his head he got an idea. "I'm sorry, I don't mean to be rude or anything... I just..." Perhaps she was some kind of water demon. No that was dumb Tusken logic. Perhaps she was a shapeshifter of some kind. He had heard of aliens that could do that.

Objective: Locate Missing Hoylin that Disappeared in the Nothing

_______________________

Gianna was happy to wait for Jedi Camlenn to make her assessment before they went onward. Jade eyes followed her movements, noting slowly, that she was testing the differences between the two areas. She could feel her flickering in and out. As if her Signature in the Force was being shielded, or hidden, when she moved too far into the colorless lands. The flame-haired woman had not crossed into the Nothing yet. There was something about it that made her skin feel cold, just by looking, and she wasn’t silly enough to venture past the border without an anchor. Jedi trained, for the most part, to be complete in themselves.

It was both right and wrong.

The Jedi Knight grew momentarily distracted when a familiar light began to race across the surface of her mind. It was a pleasant feeling and a gentle reminder of what it was like to have her Padawan close at hand. Their training was unconventional, due to his age, and @Cassius Droma often spent time on his own. She encouraged it whilst providing an ever-safe place for him to return to. In all honesty, she should have noticed him sooner. Typically she did. Gia attributed it to the consuming influence of being so close to the Nothing.

As beautiful as Elbright was…The Nothing—was not actually nothing. It was something.

She just didn’t know what.

Her eyes rose when Amilthi returned. Her experiment had taught them both a quick lesson, which, truth be told, was more than any of the people of Hoylin had been able to tell them. For all of their peaceful natures, they didn’t seem to have many Force-Sensitives among them. Perhaps that was why no one had noticed it before. The Jedi that had come before them, the Order of the Sacred Lotus, had thought that the anomaly was contained. Things had just evolved on their own. Worsened.

She recognized the expression that her fair-haired companion wore. Gianna could feel it, like the air on her skin, and instantly felt an empathetic response. “I understand. I will be mindful.”, she promised softly, returning her small smile, with one of comfort and honesty. The green-eyed Nabooian was definitely the younger of the two, though, she would never take advantage of that. Instead, she remained grateful for the unspoken concern. The pair of women operated smoothly on mutual acceptance. Equal burden, equal respect.

The sound of a turbo-engine rapidly approaching did not surprise her in the slightest. Cassius liked things that moved. Be it fighters, starships, or a land speeder. The sweet woman turned as the machine idled and couldn’t help when her spirits rose at the sight of his energetic entrance. Always, he seemed to be there, exactly when she wished him to be. “You never replied…”, Gia spoke, though, there wasn’t an ounce of displeasure in her tone. It was a statement more than anything else.

She let her rucksack slide from her shoulder so she could set it inside the speeder before turning, abruptly, to fuss briefly over her student. Yes, she allowed his freedoms, but she still worried. A light hand reached up and brushed his hair from his forehead. A familiar habit. Intelligent eyes seemed to be searching him for signs of physical distress, whilst her aura responded on its own, silently, doing the same. It searched for weakness. Breaks, where metaphysically, he would need to be strong.

Finding no reason for concern, especially, when they were about to head into a potentially dangerous situation her smile brightened as her hand fell away. “I’m glad you made it.”

Though, she hadn’t realized, that Amilthi knew him so well. She'd spoken of him before but Gianna didn’t know much about his former Master. In all honestly, he hadn’t offered the details, and she hadn’t pried. Everyone was entitled to a history of their own. Everyone had a past, though often, it was simply best to let it go. Existing in the present, though attentive of the future, was her preferred tactic.

“There’s nothing wrong with a bit of exercise, considering, we don’t know exactly where we’re going. We’ll head in the direction the missing Hoylin were last seen.”, she returned, glancing back at the speeder, that seemed to have been modified for four seats instead of two. Briefly, she went over some of the details that they had discovered about the Nothing. Including, the warning that Amilthi had just issued. Gianna worded it in the very same way. Not to scare, or unsettle him, but to prepare him.

She didn’t have the same qualms that Jedi Camlenn had about bringing her student into the Nothing. Gianna was mindful, careful, and always placed his best interests first before tradition. The galaxy would be denied the vast amounts of good he could do if she didn’t prepare him properly.

Once finished, she turned to Amilthi and beamed, her hands clasping as if they were going on some sort of field trip. “Front seat or back seat?”

Once decided, they would be off. The Hoylin seemed troubled. Gianna hoped, that soon, they could put at least some of their worries at ease. The landscape of the Grey Barrens was intimidating. Once they passed the barrier, Gianna had to note, that Amilthi was more than right. The air felt dead, chilled. The sky was washed out there was still light. The typical sounds that should accompany nature were suspiciously silent. She could feel the other two Jedi with her, and yet, their light seemed diminished.

It just made Gianna burn that much brighter, ever, the light in the dark.

“Head due west…”, she instructed Cassius, though, silently willing him not to drive too quickly. The terrain looked flat, save, for jutting rocks that were easy to avoid—but her instincts bade her not to trust what she saw. Regardless, they had to be on high alert for any signs of their missing Hoylin travelers.

Kurenai just stood to the side silently, giving an acknowledging nod to the other women present, had she seen her somewhere before? Probably but their actual identity eluded the women for the time being. Later once the activities were well underway she could spend a little time meeting some new people and actually getting to know her so called comrades within the Obsidian knights.

Head turned back to Alessandra as she commented on the food, "well grilled onions are a fine way to bring out the flavor of shrimp and the sauce does give it a more savory taste so thank you". "I have plenty of ingredients back at the grill so do not hesitate to ask, this simple dish is just... well simple, I could easily cook something much more filling once my class has been taken care of". Speaking of which she should probably get back to them but before that another person, Mr Lechner came with his own dish.

"Certainly a large meal you have make, did you hunt the game yourself"? she asked, savoring the smell wafting off the fresh cooked meat. Maybe he could have added some extra spices here and there but over all the mans cooking skill were quite high. Before having the ability to ask their improvised judge began to sample and consume the dishes brought before her, Kurenai a little surprised that she could manage to eat all the food put before, though she had mentioned something about a parasite.

It was a query Kurenai did not know how to answer, having never really spoken to Alessandra before today though she suspected it was some sort of stomach worm. A question best left for another time least people decide to lose their lunch in more ways then one, herself proceeding to stand their silently while the women quite literately polished off all the food, down to the bone, not a morsel wasted.

"Well I am glad you enjoyed it" Kurenai replied, giving a bow to the women, though questioning internally why she was apparently given money for a simple dish, not that it wasn't unwelcome. "I should return to my students, I bid you a good day, perhaps we could talk once things settled down". With a small wave Kurenai departed from the trio back to the Dojo in order to check in on her current students and how they were faring with the instructions she had given prior to leaving.

    Hoylin, near the Nothing

One look around the camp told Tacitus all he needed to know about how the operation had been run so far. Little to no consideration seemed to have been given to security, despite the threat of the anomaly's vicious creatures. How exactly were the Jedi planning to defend all the scientists in case of an attack, he did not know. The Order of the Sacred Lotus were known as healers, so perhaps they simply abhorred anything having to do with military and war. Or perhaps they just hadn't thought about it.

Fortunately, the rest of the forces arrived not long after, under the command of Colonel Halbrecht, who had shown himself to be a capable officer that could keep a cool head in tense situations where the Force was involved. Three companies of Ultranaughts would be enough to secure the facility against any attacks.

Halbrecht presented himself just as Tacitus was calling for the expedition leader, saluting smartly and delivering his report. "[[Good, good. Have the men to continue preparations as scheduled, Colonel,]]" he responded in High Nelvaanian, the Eternal Empire's official language, which was particularly useful in situations where one did not want outsiders to understand what was being spoken. He sincerely doubted these Jedi knew the language. "[[I sense that something is off, here. Have the men stay alert.]]" He would discuss deployment orders shortly after, but for now another matter presented itself. The Lotus leader had made an appearance.

The Emperor stood impassively as the Echani woman spoke her words, disdain and arrogance evident in her voice, her posture suggesting a combination of displeasure and indignation. He was not happy either about having to work with the Lotus, either. As far as he was concerned, the Order of the Sacred Lotus had already tried once to resolve the problem and failed, therefore they were inconsequential. But one does what is necessary, not what is satisfying and the presence of the Confederate personnel dictated the necessity of additional security measures.

"[[Hand the preparations over to your second in command and remain by my side, Colonel. Its time we learned what we're dealing with here,]]" he once again addressed the officer before his attention returned to the Lotus leader, an Echani woman who's presence in the Force seemed somewhat familiar, though he could not place her at the moment.

As she spoke, he decided not to take the bait and responded with the cold, dismissive tone of a professional officer, formal and businesslike. "A necessary precaution, in case of an attack from the creatures," Tacitus said to her, switching over to Basic. "Especially if our suspicions regarding the nature of this anomaly turn out to be true."

Years ago, during his days as a servant of the Sith Lord [member="Mythos"] and his Empire of the Ancient Eye, Tacitus had dealt with something similar, an anomaly on the planet of Haven. Much like this one, it also twisted the land and its creatures and the Ancient Eye expedition had found itself swimming in a sea of monsters. It was where his friendship with [member="Srina Talon"] had been forged, in the heat of that horrendous battle. He was not going to take any chances, now.

That was then. Now, a different issue presented itself. "[[Red Leader, this is OPCOM,]]" chimed the comlink with a message from the ship above the planet, which served as an operational communications center for the Nelvaanian expedition. "[[We have lost contact with Blue Flight.]]"

Something had gone wrong. But before Tacitus could deal with it, the Lotus leader managed to astound the Sith Lord once more by preparing for what he could only assume was going to be a trek on foot, as she grabbed what appeared to be equipment and supplies. Yes, that seemed to be exactly what she was doing. With a few brisk paces, he caught up to her. "My dropships are hermetically sealed and can carry much more equipment than we could carry on foot, much faster and much safer," he said, his tone suddenly low and much more serious, as if to emphasize the severity of the situation.

"I have brought equipment that can test samples in the field, the Eternal Empire's best virologists and xenobacteriologists and three experts in matters concerning the Darkside of the Force, if that's what we're dealing with here," he said, referring to the sorcerer and two white-robed figures by his side. He did not mention he was the fourth. He did not need to.

"We have just lost contact with the two dropships I dispatched to scout ahead," the Emperor spoke, a clear warning in his voice. "This is no time to be rash and charge ahead on foot. We should make use of the task force I have assembled for this operation."

---------------------------
Her transport had dropped her on Hoylin nearly an hour before hand, but Ode was struggling to find the courage to make her way to the lake. She knew full well that there was no reason for her to be as nervous as she was - but that didn't stop her from hesitating and dragging her feet with every step that drew her closer to meeting the instructor she'd been directed to locate.

It had only been a few weeks ago that she'd received confirmation that her absentee sperm-donor of a father was a member of the galactic elite - and despite a fervent protest of her desire not to be anywhere near him or his compatriots, she'd been packed up and shipped out to Hoylin regardless. And now here she was, headed to a class on combat with someone who was most likely going to know a good deal more about her own parentage she she did herself.

She exited a particularly thick bit of ground cover and caught sight of the lake, spotting the woman seated upon a large rock, blade in hand and looking perfectly content to sharpen it in the early afternoon sun. Well... No time like the present, she supposed.

She shoved her hands into the pockets of her knee length, forest-green shorts and sheepishly wandered over to Madalena.

"Hey. Is this the fighting for member worlds class?"

Fashionably late they call it. The Minister was languidly eating a bit of breakfast reviewing what little information they had about the pathogen with her heads of the various sciences under her command. “So it isn't airborne so can we assume fluid transference?” Asked the raven haired beauty as she looked at the pictures of the cells that was probably old as frack.

“Seems so but we need more evidence considering it gives the subject the urge to eat flesh. Human flesh by reports. “ Said the biologist.

“interesting, how is it doing this? Is it sentient enough to drive the host body to eat sentient flesh in order to procreate?” The curious tilt and calm icy expression could be unnerving as she looked at the challenge of the whole situation with a excitement and zeal to the thought of new cells, new samples, new DNA sequences. Those icy blue eyes seemed to glitter with excitement.

“that is probably one of a thousand questions we need to answer Minister. “ said the virus expert.

“You are correct. Lets prepare for departure. “ She would say as she adjourned the meeting.

An hour later the Minister is sashaying down the hanger bay towards the lead medical corvette, The Raven. Rashae was wearing the form fitting armor that may not look like much but it was well suited for the doctor and the predicaments she gets into sometimes. “Mister Snoopy lets have a gentle landing, shall we?” she said as the pilot.

“aye Minister. No need to worry ma'am. Snoopy will be smooth like silk. “ With that crap eating grin on his face that unsettles most passengers to think it wasn't going to be that smooth.

The Minister cut him a look with a steady icy neutrality. “very good Mister snoopy. Engage. “ She would say to him as she settled into a seat and buckled in.

The area was already a buzz of activity as she settled behind the defensive perimeter with her mass of scientists, engineers and supplies. The command tent was put up before the Minister would even step out of the ship. Helmet under her arm as she was flanked by heads of biology, viruses and pathogens, geneticists, bio chemistry and other branches followed suit. The military that was assigned to her was flanked the teams even further. Still the soldiers already on the ground made Rashae relax. Her department are brains, think tanks. They are not soldiers and needed the protection.

“I want samples of the air, soil, water, vegetation, mammals and reptilian, fish or water born creatures. I want a three sixty analysis as soon as yesterday. Do not go beyond the perimeter alone“ she ordered as they dispersed and she entered the command tent to take up the head of the table set up. Make shift labs and computers went up in the wake of the command tent. She poured herself an alderaanean red as she went over reports as they came in. Then she got the message that Tellu Talon would like her to catch up to her.

“Catch up. Is she going out in that stuff alone is she?” She asked the messenger who shrugged at her.

“Oh for crying out loud. “ She looked up for some form of solace. She excused the messenger to let the lady know she will be along shortly.

A growl emitted from the scientist as she is sharply reminded this was not just her mission. She preferred to do this sort of thing with her own team but diplomacy and politics prevail. She stocked her many pockets along the armor with sample gathering supplies as she motioned to two guards. The guards were military personnel assigned to the ministry for her protection.

The Minister was surprisingly a fit individual much to the surprise of some people. They think they see a pretty face and think soft. She went through the over all camp at Darth Tacitus set up as she nodded approvingly to the precautions. Most of the confederacy would recognize the insignia of the Ministry of science and at least been handed her picture for recognition. It wasn't long before she caught up with Darth Tacitus and Tellu Talon.

“Greetings Darth Tacitus. You are Tellu Talon of the sacred lotus I presume? “ She asked the lady that looked a lot like Srina Talon. “We really need to get preliminary base findings established before going out into this. I do have my teams working on it but I need samples like yesterday. Fresh samples. Those with the reports are too old.“
