Oh No, Not Now..

Kay-Larr

Kay furrowed her brows and just looked away from him as he spoke and called her scum. Almost like a child, she was just going to ignore him. He only saw her in a certain way, so fine. She was going to view him in only one way too.

As the lights came on, she looked up. Finally they were going to get out of this tin can. The ramp lowered and the two of them were once again held by the arms as they were escorted off. Her first time in a Destroyer and she couldn't help but be in awe of it's massive size. Her walk was deliberately slow as she took it all in. She had to see everything and memorize their path that they were being led on. That'll be very useful later.

"We could use some medical attention, some water and food, if you don't mind. People respond better to kindness than to hostility."

Kyle let them disembark and left the transport last into the expansive hangar; squads of troopers were moving around, officers walking in units to where they needed to be; TIEs were stationed on the launch decks. It was a fully functional war-machine.

Leading the two troopers who had [member="Lady Kay"] and her male pilot, Kyle didn’t need the rest of his men who went about their internal duties in the Destroyer and make a debriefing.

He ignored Kay’s request. He wasn’t a host – he was a Captain of the First Order with a job to do. Hospitality wasn’t his remit here; that was the officers. Kyle was judge, jury and executioner.

Walking for minutes through to the corridors into the bowels of the Destroyer, they turned down a narrow corridor that was very militaristic and confided. Spinning around, he indicated with his head for the male to be thrown down in one cell and Kay to be thrown in the opposite.

”Inform Ricochet. I’ll deal with her first. Make him comfortable.”

The trooper nodded and Kyle entered with Kay as their escort left. Now it was just the two of them. He didn’t say anything, and let silent intimidation of a faceless soldier speak the words until she broke silence.

Kay hated small spaces. The narrow, clean halls reminded her of being held in a mental institution created by the Hutt Cartel. She still couldn't figure out how long she was there for. Time had no meaning.

She looked to Terrac as they were separated. Make him comfortable? Yeah, right. He searched her eyes for hope and she tried to give him just that, but there were too many unknowns at the moment. At least she knew where one of the hangers were.

One she was brought to her own cell, she took note of the size and hated the feel of it. Yet she couldn't let him know that. And instead of moving to the back of the cell to be as far away from [member="Kyle Amedis"] as she could, she moved to the side, but still remained near the door. As Kyle stood there silently staring at her, she grew more and more uncomfortable. Kay folded her arms across her chest and just stared at nothing in particular while she waited. And waited. And waited. "Well? What are you waiting for? Can't do anything without an order from your CO? Let's get this over with."...

Kyle stepped forward, and looked down at her.

”What’s your rush? You’re not going anywhere.”

Then, he stepped back.

”What are your ties to the Republic Senate, and why where you edging First Order space. And don’t give me that you didn’t know how close you were, if you had a brain in your head you’d know just where safe space was.”

As [member="Kyle Amedis"] stepped forward, she took a half step back. She didn't like it when people got into her personal space, especially when she couldn't see their faces or their expressions. She held her ground though, arms still crossed over her chest as she listened to his questions.

Her eyes narrowed slightly while she answered him. "I told you. I am not in the Senate anymore. I have no ties, not even with the Supreme Chancellor. I didn't make many friends there as I was too reckless. And I already told you why I was at the edge of First Order space. I was on a diplomatic mission to Isis for the Free Colonies and just heading back to Anaaj when we ran into some trouble and had to make an emergency landing. Something hit us and we needed to know what. I'm sure that you'll find it if you look. We think that it might be a tracker of some kind." So far there was nothing for her to hide. Yet the fact that she had to repeat herself was annoying. All Kay wanted was to leave.

He pointed - this was the intimidation he loved. Close quarters, the faceless armour and a cowering prisoner. The black gloved hand formed a point.

”What 'diplomatic mission'? I've seen enough diplomatic missions in my service used as cover for something more. You are known to the Hutt Cartel, Lady Kay, and you have a price on your head so big it makes me tempted to take you in myself!”

Apply the pressure - raise the volume - push her.

”I swear you better start talking right now because when I'm finished with you here, we have the Knights of Ren willing to break that mind of yours and take what they want. So talk, and I will tell them you cooperate willingly."

His intimidation was just getting her angry more than anything else, but not enough to beat him up or anything. But as he pointed at her she stiffened herself up, just to prevent herself from smacking his hand away.

And then [member="Kyle Amedis"] mentioned the Knights of Ren. She had heard rumours of them and didn't know if they truly existed. That could present a problem.

Kay stared at nothing while she spoke, as if Kyle didn't exist. "My mission was simple. Go to Isis and establish diplomatic ties. Gain them as allies. That's all. And my bounty had already been claimed, so if you take me there you'll get NOTHING!!" If he wanted to raise his voice, then she will too.

She would learn that the First Order didn't care for anything - man, woman, child - who didn't respect and understand their authority. She was one of them, so Kyle didn't care.

He drew his E11, span the rifle across, butt facing her, and pushed her backwards with it. Hard.

”You raise your voice again and I'll beat your ties out of you. What were you seeking allies for? Why were you avoiding the First Order - those who side with us have no need for allies. We take care of our own."

Kyle stepped forward and leaned in, this time the blaster pointing at her abdomen.

”You try my patience - make your choice. Tell me what you are doing, or the Knights will pull it from your mind. And every other secret stored in there. And then they'll work on your pilot. See how long he lasts until his mind breaks."

Kay stumbled back from his push, almost falling over because of how stiffly that she was standing. As she fell back she dropped her arms and clenched her hands into fists, yet still she made no move to hit him back, no matter how much she wanted to.

When she spoke next, it was spoken just above a whisper, on purpose, out of spite. "I was trying to avoid situations like this. I knew that trespassing in First Order space would only lead to trouble. This is the Outer Rim, Trooper. Why would we not want allies? This is an area of space rampant with criminals and slavers. My ship carries minimal weaponry, so I am hardly a threat. I am supposed to have diplomatic immunity. What is the First Order afraid of that would cause you to feel the need to beat me up?"

She was answering his questions, if not with a bit of attitude. The Knights were not something that she wanted to face right now. Or ever.

Kyle came forward again.

”Your immunity doesn't exist out here. Senator."

He smirked under the helmet; seeing how much she was getting annoyed was part of the fun. He raised his left arm upwards, vertically, and spoke into the wrist.

”This is Captain Amedis. Find me one of the Rens. We have an interesting Republic sympathizer who may hold some nice secrets for the Supreme Commander."

It clicked off. The trooper indicated with his weapon.

”I warned you. Now, we wait and see if your fate lies in the hands of them. There's nothing I can do to help you now."

He did it again. More than likely he called her Senator out of spite. The two of them seemed to be very good at this little game. Kay nearly flinched when he raised his arm, half expecting for him to push her even further back into the cell and away from the door. Whether he was bluffing about the Knights, she couldn't tell.

But it didn't matter. Something else that [member="Kyle Amedis"] said had given her hope. "Did you say Amedis? Is that your surname? How old are you?"

He recoiled a little; she’d see the helmet move back. He’d never been asked about his name before – nice way of diverting the intimidation, now he felt a little intimidated. HE was giving the intimidation, not her.

”What else do you think it is. May I remind you this isn’t a social chat."

He had an urge to strike her again, square in the gut. But he didn’t. This time.

”I’m the one asking questions here, Senator."

It wasn’t important, but the fact she just shouted up about his name and age bothered him. Was he on a hit-list? Had he been observed for some re-stationing?

Now she was gaining the upper hand. Kay took half a step forward, almost challenging him, if one could see it that way. "You're about my age, aren't you? Not exact, but close. Is your name Kyle?" She pondered for a moment. It had been years. His name could have changed. But then he wasn't sent away in the same manner that she was. "Were you raised by a woman named Wren?"

She studied him, or rather as much as she could with his helmet on. Body language was all that she could watch right now to see if there was any connection to them at all, or if it was just a coincidence. Besides, there was bound to be people with the same surnames. The Galaxy was vastly populated afterall.

It was times like this he valued the helmet – the faceless décor didn’t give any emotion, while the man inside could smile, or wince, or cry, or frown and nobody would know. Right now, Kyle was rattled and a little freaked out. He was probably a little older than this woman. He was called Kyle. His mother was called Wren.

”Back off!"

He raised his hand and kept the palm out, a sign for her to stand back and not come closer. And it dawned on him as he rested his hand on his blaster butt.

”You’re a Jedi, aren’t you. You’re one of them!"

He gripped the blaster tight in his thigh holster.

Kay took a step back as he had ordered her to. She was just inches away from the wall now. Her questions were getting to him, which must mean that she was right. He wasn't denying them. A discovery that she had made just weeks ago by chance, had now led to this nearly impossible encounter. And it was clear that he didn't trust Force users. But she was used to that. It was why more often than not, she kept her abilities a secret. She had to be careful.

"I'm not picking your brain, if that's what you mean. Is that what you think? That the only way that I would know these things about you is because I invaded your mind? I could accuse you of the very same thing, but you only had others do the research for you when you gave them my name. Go get my satchel and my datapad. I will show you how I know of your name."

Would he do it? She didn't know. It all depended on if he believed her, or if she freaked him out. She glanced to the door, wondering if one of the Knights would show up. If not, then she'd be really lucky.

”No." Kyle side-stepped, felt the satchel with his foot and kicked it over. He took the E11 in hand again, safe behind the comfortable weapon, and aimed it. ”You open it."

Probably some trap, an explosive ready to take his head off and then she'd be out. He flexed his fingers on the trigger and butt.

”Hurry up, and take it slow."

Quickly, he pulled his arm to his helmet.

”Where is that Ren - find me one QUICK, send them to the cells!"

Hurry up and take it slow? [member="Kyle Amedis"] really was flustered. She crouched down and opened up her satchel, pulling out her datapad. She stood back up and turned it on, opening up her copy of the video that she found. Pressing play, she turned the datapad around and held it up for him to see. Kyle would see and hear everything that she did. And his stupid helmet didn't allow her to see his reactions and read his face. All the while that she listened, she wondered what he was thinking. There were so many things that could be running through his head right now. When Kay had watched it for the first time, it had left her in stunned silence. Anything could happen with Kyle.

When it was over, she turned her datapad off and held it. "That's how I know. Am I right? Are you Kyle? Are you my older brother?"

Watching from behind the visor, Kyle kept his blaster up for most of the video, but as it went on, the weapon lowered more and more until he was just stood there taking it in. Kyle had a...sister.

He had a sister. He had family. And she had ties to the Republic and...others....everything the First Order stood against.

As the video ended, she would not see him move; just that gormless armour looking at nothing except the flickering image on pause.

Then, slowly he put his E11 away again and reached up and with a small hiss as the padding gave way over his neck, Kyle lifted his helmet off.

Suddenly, he remembered what he had done. He raised the com in his arm.

”Amedis. Stand Ren down - no longer needed. We've got her talking."

All the while, staring at nothing. He held his arm in mid-air, before finally lowering it and looking up at [member="Lady Kay"] - sister. He didn't know what to do, or how to feel. Was she real? Was she an enemy?

”Who...I don't HAVE a sister, I never have. Are you telling the truth? Is this real? Who was she...is she..." he trailed off, unable to process all the feelings in his head.

That face. It was a clear mix between their father and their mother. At least in her point of view. And now she saw what he had felt. His silence was very similar to her own reaction.

"Unless this is some hoax created over twenty standard years ago to be used for this exact moment, then I believe that it is true. I found it on a planet that a bunch of us crashed on a few weeks ago. Lots of ships have crashed there....I found it in a wreckage inside of what was her quarters. There were bodies outside, but some were so decayed....I don't think that she made it. But I grew up an orphan on Naboo. How would she have known that if it wasn't true? What of your name and that of her sister that raised you? Do a search on her files and our Father's. See if he is still alive. He obviously wasn't with her when they crashed. Do a search on Moff Tobias Larr. See what you can find."

She didn't move to touch him. She wasn't sure that she wanted to. Not after how he had treated her since her arrest. Things could go either way. He could hate her like it appears her Father did. And it was all for something that she was born with.

He ran a hand through his matted hair, exhaling and trying to comprehend everything. He needed to get out, away from the cell, and away from the walls closing in. He glanced up to her.

”I've got to get you out of here."

The best way to act now was to move fast. Hiding away again until he could be free, the helmet went back on, his face a fleeting cameo for her to take with her.

”We'll take a transport to the surface, your ship. Get away from here, I'll contact you."

Was he running away by pushing her away? Partly. He would keep the recorder after to re-watch the message and take the names given to find what he could. Right now, his...sister...Kay...if she even was that....had to go, for both their sakes. He waved his hand for her to come, to take her arm and lead her back the way they came under the guise of a Stormtrooper and his captive. From assaulting her and being in control, to being a nervous wreck and unsure of what to do for the best in a matter of just over an hour. This wasn't the day Kyle had expected when he boarded the transport.
