Oh No, Not Now..

Tobias was pleased when he heard the report, not a single problem anywhere along the way. Very good. He made his way as quickly as possible to the brig. There was little that could be done to [member="Lady Kay"] at this time. He planned on interrogation as the only real thing he would do. He would have wanted to have her tortured or punished in some manner before handing her over to another Moff or a Sith. As it was, she had made him realize that he would have to keep in min the current galactic situation. As much as he might have wanted to have her killed or beaten to get revenge, it would have repercussions that would effect the galaxy on a larger scale than his own command.

Nonetheless, he would interrogate her personally. The matter of his greatest concern was also one that he would prefer to remain private. He entered the room, and looked at Kay before turning to [member="Kyle Amedis"]. For a moment the Moff was struck by the youth of his son, certainly not the youngest man alive, but still in the better part of his life. Tobias didn't really remember much of his earlier life, having to work his way up the ladder he could recall those times early on. Stormtroopers and lesser officers often had more repetition in their life than excitement. Unless a squad was on the front lines all the time they were bound to spend awhile in normal rotations. Those rotations were more often than not very much the same no matter who one was under or where they were and repetition had a strange way of making one forget or mix up things all to easily.

"Congratulations Captain. I would like you to conduct an interrogation of the smuggler this woman hired. I will be speaking with the Senator," turning for all the personnel to hear he continued, "and I would like to conduct the interrogation alone. Understood?"

Kyle hesitated slightly when [member="Tobias Larr"] ordered him out to be left alone. He expected to stand guard at least inside the cell after her last show of force, but he assumed the Moff felt this was going to be a situation he had total control over.

He stood to attention, looking to [member="Lady Kay"] and then the Moff, before turning and stepping up out of the cell. As he looked in before closing, he felt the eerie chill surround him as the door hissed closed.

Kay's eyes widened briefly as the Moff appeared. But it wasn't just any Moff. It was the same man whose picture was left behind with her mother's video, if that was to be believed. She looked to [member="Kyle Amedis"] , glad to hear that he would be the one to question Terrac. Perhaps the two of them could plot their escape.

But then [member="Tobias Larr"] mentioned interrogating her alone. Alone. That sent a chill up her spine. Kay watched as her brother left to fulfill his orders. She kept her eyes on him as the doors closed, trying to read what he was feeling and knowing that he was just as nervous as she was.

When the door was shut, she clenched her jaw and stood tall, arms at her sides, chin forward as though she were one of the soldiers under his command. How was this going to go about? Would it be the same way as it was with Kyle? With her being struck whenever her answers weren't good enough? Would he threaten to call in the Knights of Ren too? Right now she had very little power. Escaping from the Destroyer for the second time was going to be much harder than the first.

If what she had heard her mother say Tobias was like was true, then he would more than likely relish in the fact of holding a member of the Republic, a former politician, no less. The hatred between the two governments was very strong. The First Order, like the Empire before them, ruled by fear and oppression, dealing with dissent with an iron fist. While the Republic for the most part was the opposite. Treating their prisoners with brutality was not unheard of.

There was a big surprise waiting for the Moff that stood alone with her, though. Kay decided to put him off balance and gain the upper hand from the get go, if not for anything but to see where it may lead. "You're Moff Tobias Larr, aren't you? And your wife was Admiral Loreena Larr, wasn't it? Did you know that she died ten maybe even twenty years ago, after crash landing on a planet simply known as the Graveyard?" It wasn't until after she spoke that she looked up at him. She wanted to see any flicker of emotion. He was of course the first Moff that she had ever come across and she wasn't sure if they were separated from their emotions like many soldiers were. Kay had hoped that she got an element of surprise. Though her mother's warning still echoed in her mind. Father or not, Tobias was a real threat to her. Revealing who she was could either be really good, or really, really bad.

Tobias felt some small relief when at last they were alone. The Moff was however, unprepared for the statements that [member="Lady Kay"] made. For a moment, a visible appearance of surprise could have been seen, but it was quickly hidden behind a professional mask. He had not anticipated the need to hide his thoughts with this particular prisoner. Now though, he believed he knew why this Senator had taken his son captive. "So, this is about my son then? What do you want?"

Being certain of the reason for this person's actions, the Moff was confident that he could handle her now. She should not have led with that, because now he knew what she was after, at least partly. He did wonder what she had planned and what exactly were her reasons, but it would not take long to figure it out now. He avoided showing any smile or similar visual expression. He was looking forward to this now, there was a personal reason to figure out what was going on with Kay.

"I....." The desired effect that she had wanted lasted only briefly. Too briefly to her liking. She turned her eyes away from him now. No doubt [member="Tobias Larr"] had done numerous interrogations and knew that showing no emotion while putting on the pressure was one of the easiest way to make someone feel very uncomfortable.

Now Kay was second guessing herself. Should she have not let on that she knew who him, Loreena and [member="Kyle Amedis"] were? No doubt he would think that she was some spy, sent to threaten his son and blackmail him. But that just wasn't the case. She just had to make him believe it without her revealing her links to them.

...I just want to be released. This is all some big misunderstanding. I'm not some spy. I was wrongfully arrested in neutral space and was only trying to defend myself when Kyle-I mean, Captain Amedis tried to stop me. But I let him go, released him in such a way that he could be rescued without further risk or harm that could befall him. I have no quarrel with you or the First Order and if you tried to hold me hostage, it wouldn't be the Republic that would come to my rescue. It would only be the Free Colonies. Yet their influence is so small, you wouldn't even know it was there. So I ask you kindly to allow me to return to my ship safely with my pilot so that we may continue to Anaaj." She had little doubt that he would simply let her go. But maybe he could see that she wasn't a threat.

Kyle stood outside the cells in the long, dimly lit corridor, helmet resting on the wall as he leant back. He had given orders for the two troopers on guard to interrogate the pilot, to find out what they could but without resorting to aggressive methods.

He would be no use under the eyes of others in the First Order, and the security recordings would easily pick up something suspicious.

Now he had the pilot in the cell behind and [member="Lady Kay"] and [member="Tobias Larr"] opposite. Other than that, it was quiet save for a faint whine of a klaxon from the hangar which meant a transport was landing or taking off.

He couldn’t hear what was going on in either cell, and he would wait until one had finished before taking action to know what he had to work with.

Circumventing the question, a potentially useful tool in interrogations if done right. It almost had as well, except that the woman had spoken of [member="Kyle Amedis"]. She knew his first name, hardly something that a Captain would give to his captors under most circumstances. Thus either she had interrogated Kyle, a definite possibility, or she had already known it. He leaned more towards the latter because [member="Lady Kay"] had already expressed knowledge in who he was and his wife.

The truth of the matter was that this ex-Senator was if not entirely lying, she was withholding something from him. She knew too much to simply be captured. He still believed that she was trying something against him and his son. He wanted to find out what she truly knew, what she knew about him and why she had come out this way. "I see, of course. It's all just a misunderstanding. Such things happen, I'll have you and your friend released. As soon as some things are cleared up. Specifically how you know the name of my wife and son, yet I've not heard of you before?" Change of pace, perhaps a bit early, Tobias had never really been trained as an interrogation specialist, but he had picked up things from what he had watched. He hoped to keep Kay off balance, at least for awhile unsure of what he planned to do.

Kay blinked in surprise. This was not what she was expecting. But still she knew that she had to tread carefully. She hadn't been through many interrogations before and with the game changing so much, it was hard to predict what would happen.

She relaxed her stance and thought about what to say next, thinking about her satchel and the datapad with the copy of the recording done on it. There was a possibility there. She could tell the truth, but just not all of it. Maybe that'll be enough.

"I found a recording on a datapad in the wreckage of a ship. Below it was your picture. On the recording, Loreena described you and your son and....her regrets at not being there. She wanted an empty conscious before she died. So when I was arrested and heard the Captain's name and saw that you matched the picture, well it wasn't too difficult to put all the pieces together."

She watched [member="Tobias Larr"] then, just to see if she could figure out what he was thinking, if only to give her a clue as to what he was going to do.

[member="Kyle Amedis"]

Tobias was somewhat disturbed at hearing that. That information was something that he did not want out in the open, it was unfortunate enough that this ex-Senator had to know. His face would give away a troubling expression, but again he then managed to reign in his thoughts, knowing that this was still an interrogation. On top of this he felt that perhaps the mention of his wife and a datapad containing information about him was a distraction. There was too much for coincidence in the Moff's mind.

He did not like the fact that [member="Lady Kay"] had apparently known of his family through the datapad, then was captured by the ship that had both himself and [member="Kyle Amedis"], and then proceeded to escape, taking his son captive. It struck an unsettling chord in his mind. But there was something of more importance at the moment that he wished to ask, knowing full well that it could be used against him. A weakness on his part, something that he desperately wanted to fight, but knew that he could not, "Did you tell the Captain any of this? Who I was?"

While he asked the question, his mind continued to figure out how to get what he wanted out of this woman. She knew something more than she was telling, he could feel it. It was just a matter of finding the way to get the information from her, but he knew very little about her, aside from a few of her exploits during her time as Senator. Nothing confidential, but things that had been made public or pieces of information that the intelligence people had put together. He wondered if he should take advantage of any of that, but then it was always possible for the prisoner to make use of what they knew. Time would tell, she spoke too quickly at first, perhaps it would continue.

Kay watched his expressions change as he thought over what she had said. She wanted to keep the focus away from herself for as long as she could. Yet for how much longer that would be remained to be seen. [member="Tobias Larr"] had already said that he'd let her and Terrac go. But was he telling the truth? She hoped so.

As he asked about whether or not she let [member="Kyle Amedis"] know who his father was, she wasn't quite sure what to tell him. Should she let him know? Or not? Seconds passed as she mulled it over, going through the pros and cons of each decision. Would Kyle knowing who his real Father was put him in danger? Probably not. He was safer than she was. But still, it was hard to say what Tobias would do.

Kay deflected from his questions and instead went to a different topic. She needed to see how he felt, if not just to get a better clue of whether or not her mother's warnings were true. "She also spoke of a daughter and that she too was sent away, but not in the same manner of Kyle. Despite that hardship, I know that she's done well for herself and is well respected. Or did you already know that, given how....thorough First Order Intelligence is?"

A bit of an insult there had slipped out. But she couldn't quite help it as it just didn't seem fair to be treated in such a way. No child should. Yet Kay's own adopted children were taken into hiding after her husband was killed. A sudden thought came to mind. What if she were to find either of them in the First Order? Or worse, with the Sith or Knights of Ren? Both were Force sensitive. They could be anywhere. How would she feel if they popped up on her in this way? Surprised more than likely. Yet she didn't have the Moff mentality that her Father did. Thankfully, Kyle didn't seem to have it either. So far....

Change in topic, a bit sudden, and due to the inherently close nature of his inquiry, he felt that the deflection was intentional. Of course he could have been wrong, there was no way for him to tell at this time. However, she had asked a question that drew his attention nonetheless. Even so, he did not allow his thought to be redirected completely, but he allowed himself a momentary sidetrack.

"I was unaware. Unfortunately my time has been focused elsewhere. I am glad to hear she is doing well, what else do you know of her?" He lied the last part, he cared little for the daughter that he had once had. A Force user was someone he did not want in his family. He had deliberately avoided reading anything that the Intelligence might had had on his daughter, wanting nothing to do with her. He hoped that by talking with this prisoner about what she wanted to, that he could eventually manipulate the conversation to his own end.

Kay folded her arms across her chest. She didn't fully feel as though she was in control of the situation, especially as she was the prisoner, but it felt as though she had a bit of it. "I know plenty. I figured that as she used to be in a high position in the Government of your enemy, that it might have piqued your interest somewhat through the years." She shrugged her shoulders a bit. But that's okay. I'm sure that you had a lot more on your plate to warrant keeping an eye on your daughter that you gave up as a lost cause."

She looked over to the door. "As I've said before, I have no quarrel with you or the First Order. I was only protecting myself from an unwarranted arrest. I did not enter your space, illegally or otherwise. So, if you'd be so kind as to let my pilot and I continue to Anaaj, I'd appreciate it."

[member="Tobias Larr"] [member="Kyle Amedis"]

"I assume you learned about the abandonment through the datapad?" If it was indeed a datapad from his wife then it probably would have had that information, but he wanted to be sure. There was something not right, he had a feeling that there was more than he knew and that made him distrustful of the apparent innocence of [member="Lady Kay"]. He tried to keep his true intentions veiled, hoping that her apparent trust was in fact sincere and that she did not realize what he truly planned.

He decided to further ask, "How long ago did you find that datapad and where?"

Kay-Larr

Sphaera Tea Company Owner
She nodded in response to his first question. However his next one gave her no indication that he had even heard her request to be released. No doubt [member="Tobias Larr"] did so on purpose.

Kay studied him as she spoke. "In the Unknown Regions. I only know of the planet's nickname, The Graveyard. It has an asteroid field around it and a gravitational anomaly that makes ships crash into it before they can reset their trajectories to compensate. I was there a few months ago. Are you...going to try to find her?" She left it open as to which 'her' she was referring to.

He wondered which way to go with that question. He could attempt to get more out of this woman, or he could leave it be and release her. Certainly it would save time and probably some amount of pain to simply let this one go. But if there was more than she was telling him, and he was certain of that, then it behooved him to find out what it was. To give away intel was the single greatest mistake a man could make in times of war. He decided that he would need to more open, in a false manner.

"Maybe. Why do you ask? Do you know anything more on either of them?" He hoped to bait out some information.

She hoped that her Father would seek out his wife's body in time. He did love her, didn't he? "I think that she deserves a proper burial where her family is...." It made Kay a little sad to think of it. All that she had of her mother was one video. [member="Kyle Amedis"] had nothing, while [member="Tobias Larr"] had plenty of memories. It was kind of funny at how different all of their lives were.

But at the moment, the Moff was being rather nice. Was her mother wrong about him? People can change, after all. Kyle did, and all in a matter of minutes. She told him about her and he chose to help her instead of condemning her. Maybe her father would be the same way?

Kay took in a deep breath and let it out slowly. "I always wondered what you and my mother were like, and wondered why I was abandoned. At least now I have some of my answers. To crash on that planet, to find her ship, her datapad, to be arrested by Kyle and then sent to you....that can't all be a crazy coincidence. Could it?" Of course she didn't outright say that she was his daughter. But she felt that maybe she didn't have to.

Tobias was taken aback, it could be seen on his face that he was surprised. This was all too much for him. For a moment it looked as if he might just leave the room, but his face became like stone once more. It was somewhat tiring to continually have to pull a mask over his emotions. He knew it, he had known there was something now being told to him. And now it was here, she was his daughter. She had not said so explicitly, but the use of the term mother was definite enough.

The important question now was how to proceed. While he could keep her here and make certain that she got up to no mischief he did not want her near him at all. She appeared to have done well for herself, if her stories of being a Senator were true, but beneath it all. That was what bothered him. What she was, one of those Force users. She probably even had training, as if simply being was not bad enough she would have gone and learned from others of her weakness.

"Are you happy? Pleased to know who your parents are?" He asked with some small amount of spite in his voice, only the touch of what he felt inside.

[member="Lady Kay"]

Kay-Larr

That surprised look was probably the most emotion that she had ever seen from him. But it didn't last long. It soon disappeared, replaced by a look that forced her to cast her eyes downward. She could feel the hatred of her grow in the room. Maybe her mother wasn't wrong afterall.

The bit of spite coming from [member="Tobias Larr"] 's voice gave his bark some bite. She furrowed her brows a bit as she tried to think of the best way to answer. "Yes. I am pleased. And to know that I'm not alone, and that I have family that can protect themselves gives me great relief." Her enemies wouldn't hurt their own. At least she knew that her actions couldn't send anyone after them. "I am sorry that I am such a disappointment to you. But look at what I had accomplished on my own. I have done well." Kay started to wonder how different things could have been if she wasn't sent away.

Her apology and disappointment did not go unnoticed. Perhaps some deep part of Tobias responded to the silent cries of a long gone wife to love their child. He felt a momentary regret. The Moff wanted to say sorry for what he had done. But only for a moment. It too passed. Whatever she had accomplished, it was not done by solely herself, but she had the Force with her. That meant that she was weak, maybe she did not see it that way. Maybe she believed that she had not used the Force to help her, but it did not change the fact of what she was and what she relied upon.

Her lack of strength simply pushed him away. He felt no tenderness towards his weak daughter. His son was strong, if his daughter had been the same then she would have stayed but the thought could not change the past. He took a moment to mull over his thoughts. After a minute he spoke, "I hope you are happy with those accomplishments. You're free to leave. Your pilot will be sent to the ship and I will have a report completed later." He stood and prepared to leave the room, "Do you have anything to say before I have you escorted back?"

[member="Lady Kay"]

[member="Tobias Larr"] was doing her a kindness that she didn't expect. He was letter her and Terrac go. Phew! It was such a relief. [member="Kyle Amedis"] would be so pleased. At least she hoped so.

Kay looked to her father as he was about to leave. "Yes. I have a request, actually. Could you please keep my Force sensitivity out of your report? So few people know about it. I keep it hidden. I know how people don't always trust Force Users, so I just pretend to be like them. So....would you keep it secret?" She looked at him with hope, but it was hard to say what he would decide. He hadn't even come close to touch her. It was clear that he wanted very little part in her life.
