Om... Wat? [Galactic Alliance Dominion of Omwat]

Objective: 4
Post: 4

Jareb diverted course back to the battle along with the rest of Black Squadron. It felt good to fly among friends again. A pang of sadness came back to him at that thought. Most of the friends he'd flown with in the Corellian Militia were either dead, or had signed up with the One Sith Empire. This was one of the first times things really seemed to click like it did with the pilots back home.

"I'm with you Chatterbox." Jareb affirmed. "Let's hit that flagship with everything we've got. Get the shields down with your torpedos and I'll hit priority targets with my quad cannon!"

Jareb's X-Wing rumbled again from another laser glancing off his shields. "Come on, hold it together baby." He whispered to his ship. Jareb's droid BD-3 beeped impatiently about the low power of the shields.

"There's nothing we can do right now buddy. We need to keep the engines at full power." He banked away from Poy for a moment to dodge more space junk, then veered back into formation. They were almost at the flagship. "We just have to ride this out!"

Andanian sprinted down the dirt road toward the sound of the scream, briefly looking back and seeing his cargo crate destroyed and cursing under his breath. Whoever that was shooting him just did a fantastic job of ruining his mission. He tried to keep to the shadows to avoid being seen, ceasing his sprint and starting to creep instead.

He made his way over to the cottage with the scream - at least, the house that sounded like it was coming from it. He kicked the door down and aimed his revolver inside, only to find it empty.

Really outdone yourself now

Shaking his head, he started to search around the general area, searching for the damsel in distress and simultaneously watching for men dressed in blue with itchy trigger fingers.

A'dele would continue to weave those silken threads, like fine delicate lace that would strand from the center of the lake and beyond. Auras would bloom in her mind, growing in numbers as her mind would push outward. Each one would get a length of thread, connecting her to them, feeding their emotions and their very well being with thoughts of strength, courage, and valor.

With more and more glistening diamond threads connecting to more and more entities, more shadows of smoke and mirrors would float along the surface of that glacial lake.

Breathe in. Breathe out.

Her skin was already flushing in her concentration, and the more she pressed upon her meditation, the more taxing it would become. So far, so good. All she had to do was maintain --

There was a sudden ripple across that dark water. A dark shadow that would snap her attention.

What was that?

"Roger, will do," Poy said over the comlink, as she punched in the description of the pirate flagship, and was rewarded with locations of every shield aboard it. The first shields were located around their engines, so she locked onto each one with the multiple target tracker, and then fired one proton torpedo at each one - four torpedoes left their bays, and streaked across space towards the vessel.

Two found their mark, but the last two sent out were shot down by the vessel's defensive weapons. "Frotz!!" she exclaimed loudly, as she lined up for another run in. This time, the two torpedoes managed to slip by those defenses and scored direct hits. She then moved in, and destroyed two of their engines with high explosive rounds from her quad cannons. The engines blew up and sent chunks of metal flying all over space.

The Twi'lek then did a run over the bridge, firing her cannon as she went - she must have scored hits, because there were loud voices on the other end saying that people had been hit and they needed medics on the bridge rather quickly. Her target computer came up with their shield generator, which was located in a rather heavily armoured part of the ship at the rear - she just had to destroy it, at all costs.

Pulling on the stick, Poy went higher and higher, before she pushed the stick down and she locked onto the shield generator. R2-Q2 beeped loudly in the back, but Poy was zoned out, and she was focusing on that generator and nothing else. There was a tone as a lock was confirmed. "Firing!!" she shouted over the comlink to Jareb, as she pushed down on the firing button as hard as she possibly could.

Two torpedoes left their bays, and headed towards the generator. Just managing to skip over the top of the vessel, as this generator exploded in a bright fireball that lit up most of the surrounding space. Chunks of metal flew into her spoilers and several hit R2-Q2, but he was not too hurt in the explosion. "The shield generator has been taken out, Jareb. We are free to go in and engage," Poy could feel herself sweating.

The pirate was kicking in a door as the boy came around the corner.

He'd tried to line up a shot, but the man was inside the shanty before he could get a bead on him. From off on his left, the clone saw a haggard, withered looking man ushering his daughter from out of the back and into a tunnel that led into an abandoned fuel tank that had been converted into an underground shelter by the denizens of Knowhere.

Rearing up the scout blaster, the boy lined up his eye with the doorframe of the house that the criminal had run inside. A red blaster bolt exploded in a shower of sparks as he put a shot into the door. "No where to run," the youngling shouted, in the hopes that now he might have the man's attention. Of note, 3X744 was a Republic Clone Trooper. Not an Imperial Stormtrooper. There was a difference, such as the fact that the boy's tactical programming said it was necessary to offer the man a chance to surrender. "Come out with your hands up!"

The protocols were a little vague on what to do after he surrendered, though... so what was Three supposed to do if he took him up on the offer? "The Galactic Alliance will take you into custody," the boy remarked, more to himself than for the pirate's sake.

Did he even know anybody in the Alliance? Aside from [member="Darius"] that is. But, there weren't any Jedi around. And Three hadn't asked permission. So Darius was more likely to take Three into custody than the pirate.

A blaster bolts shot through the threshold of the doorway, once again making Andanian jump in his boots and turn around.

"Come out with your hands up! The Galactic Alliance will take you into custody!"

Wait, what? B-But i'm with- Was that a kid's voice?!

The guy shooting him did seem a bit small. Was it really a kid? Was a kid gonna try to arrest him?

Maybe this can be settled peacefully

Holstering his pistol, Andanian decided to humor the kid with the rifle and trudged outside with his hands up, looking over at the child with the DC-15. "Alright, kid, you got me. What's it to you? I'm here on Alliance business, you know. I'm not doing anything illegal"

This time... he smiled as he thought to himself, hoping the kid wouldn't shoot him in cold blood.

Hope I was right in thinking the Alliance were a bunch of softies...

Victory! The pirate was surrendering.

...now what?

As the clone pondered the logistics of how he was going to complete the arrest, the man started protesting. Criminals often tried to make what they did seem right, or so Three thought. He wasn't actually sure. The course on law enforcement and arrests was scheduled to have been the week following the training mission with the 432nd Clone Expedtionary Unit aboard the Star Destroyer Sentinel. Which had been under the command of Jedi General [member="Sor-Jan Xantha"]. It was during their return from Corellia to Kamino that everyone had just lost their minds. Suddenly the Republic wasn't a Republic, and everyone was shooting at their Jedi.

And then it was 844 ABY.

The mention of Alliance business, however, did catch the boy's attention. "Huh?" The youngling tilted his head to one side, blinking as he just looked at the man. How was that supposed to work? "If you're from the Alliance, how come you're stealin'?"

Galactic Repub... er... Alliance didn't steal. They were the good guys.

"That's what we need," the burly one said. "We need a ship that can do all three. We need a triple threat."

The woman laughed. "Good luck. Doesn't exist."

"Sure it does." The burly one leaned forward. "You know it does. I know it does."

The tattooed one shook his empty glass, as if hoping that would magically refill it, then nodded.

"OK, it exists, but how could we ever afford that?"

The burly man smiled. "I got us a contract. Simple data run. Seems people don't want to trust technology and want an old-fashioned drop."

"Who'd pay that much money for a simple drop?"

"Wrong question. You should be asking, what sort of data is worth that much money?"

She heard chairs scrape as they turned to look at her. The bartender set a refill in front of Nubica and took her almost-empty glass away.

"You got something you want to add, girly?" the woman asked.

"If you're from the Alliance, how come you're stealin'?"

"Stealing? I was told this little town was abandoned and to come take some stuff that nobody was using!" he sighed, gesturing behind him, "Look, kid, you heard that scream. Someone's in trouble. There are Imperials and pirate dogfighting in orbit over this planet, i'd almost guarantee there are more down here. You gonna keep pointing that rifle at me, the guy on your side, or can we go help someone who actually needs it?" Andanian explained, hands still in the air regardless.

While the scream had stopped, Andanian was still worried about the source. Was it too late now because of this kid? Who even is this kid? Does he live here?

Objective 2

Each Acolyte in turn stepped forth from the shadows. One by one they came to a halt behind their master and placed a hand on his shoulder. Qorbin was unaware of their touch. The gloomy chamber, his acolytes, the flames kissing the palm of his hand...all of these had faded from view. His mind was elsewhere.

At the very perimeter of the web a creature of iridescent obsidian and scarlet reached for the nearest fronds. A few tentative steps were taken with extreme caution. Each one of its eight legs moved smoothly from strand to strand. Despite its multifaceted eyes, the spider was blind here. This was not a realm of its creation. It sensed something approach.

Another black spider, maybe a tenth the size of the first, climbed across a single strand towards it. It paused as the large arachnid raised its front legs, feeling for it. Without warning the smaller spider tried to dart between the legs. However, it was too slow. Mandibles descended and it was picked from the web and devoured. The process was repeated twice more as other black creatures clambered towards it. With each one its abdomen became more and more swollen.

The gruesome creature, laden with power, continued towards the centre of the web. Its feelers found something. It was not the source, just another morsel wrapped in silk. Its fangs detached it from the web and it continued on its journey.

~

Scarlet and Gold cut intricate patterns through the air as they clashed. No ground was given as Jacen held firm against the two acolytes. With each second he could feel his confidence - and their frustration - grow. He was calm, detached, determined. He could feel the intentions of his fellow warriors as they fought. They were the light that would eradicate the darkness from the deepest of corners. Soresu was a philosophy as much as a technical discipline. He was never where his opponents wanted him to be and he was constantly thinking three steps ahead.

With a sudden jolt that connection broke. That reassuring presence, the silver and lavender anchor, was gone. Jacen missed a step. The tip of a red blade swung up from beneath him. Leaning away saved him from death as the tip gouged a deep line through his armour plating, flinging sparks up before his eyes. Blinded and confused he gathered his strength to him and lashed out with a telekinetic blast that sent both acolytes careening away.

Resuming his stance, his chest heaved as he gulped in air. The two acolytes stalked towards him again. Their expressions were markedly different. They smelled blood in the water.

The Alliance told him to take stuff that didn't belong to him, in homes that weren't his, on a planet that wasn't part of the Alliance. Yet.

And this made... sense? "Instead of takin' stuff, why don't you teach people how to defend themselves?" the precocious soldier asked, the pistol in his hands starting to lower. Was this guy part of the Alliance or not? His story seemed really fishy, but the Alliance was out here. And they were looking for criminal stuff.

The comment about the scream made the boy remember the townspeople. "Oh, they... they were jus' scared of you," the youngling said, at last relaxing and putting the blaster pistol back into its holster. Motioning toward the barely visible lip of the old fuel tank, the boy offered, "They're over there."

Then he turned and motioned toward a cargo storage container. "An' over there," Half-buried shuttle that was arse end up? "An' there."

Unbelievable! Intel was all wrong, this shantytown is full of homeless people seeking refuge! The Alliance was trying to make him steal from the less fortunate! Oh, c'mon, how the heck did they screw it up this badly?

Andanian shook his head and sighed, "Alright, I get it. Town's not abandoned. I was told Omwat was full of old derilect outposts that used to be operated by pirates and smugglers who ran out for some reason, and that there was plenty of stuff left behind worth salvaging and taking back to Sullust. I'll be sure to let them know this one is still in use.

"You want me to what?" he asked, a bit taken aback. "The way I see it, they've got themselves a tough little kid who already knows how to handle a carbine. Why haven't you taught them how to defend themselves?" He refrained from telling the kid he took a year of training at the Imperial Academy and did know a decent bit of imperial military tactics and his way around a blaster. Truth be told, he just wanted to leave before he really got himself shot dead by bums holeing up where they shouldn't be.

Jareb laid down fire on the frigate's turbolasers while Black Five made her run. She left quite the impression in the middle of such a tense battle. Poy definitely knew her stuff. She got the shields down in what Jareb guessed was record time. The energy barrier evaporated as Jareb was firing at a laser battery, and it erupted into flames without it's shield protection.

"I'm going for the communications array!" Jareb called out. "That should leave 'em in a mess!" He tucked his X-Wing underneath the ship and flew along it's belly. A now unshielded satellite relay stuck out, and Jareb poured laser fire into it with his quad cannons. He pitched away from it as it exploded. BD-3 whistled excitedly and Jareb let out an exclamitory "Yeeha!!" Suddenly a warning chime pulsed in his cockpit. He looked down at his sensors. Two heat signatures were following on his tail.

"Stang" He cursed. A single hit from a missile would smash his ship to bits. "Black Five, I could use a hand. I've got missiles on my tail. I want to hit the bridge again but I need these off my back."

"Duh! People without homes moved here after everyone left." So the intelligence wasn't necessarily wrong. Just not current.

"I'm five," the clone answered, which was a lie. He wasn't five. He was only four-and-a-half. Which probably sounded really strange to the pirate, being that Three looked like he was nine or ten. "My trainings not even complete yet."

Seriously, how was he supposed to train people when he had barely a quarter of the Republic clone training program in his head. Which, if the guy was with the Alliance, then what had he been collecting the stuff for? "Sorry about your crate-thingy," the boy offered, thinking about the dumped over stuff.

"Where were you takin' that stuff?"

"Five?" he rose a brow. Bah, childish banter.

"Right, and i'm twelve." he said sarcastically. "You don't need to be a 'grown-up' to teach people things. If you know your way around something, doesn't matter if you're ten or fifty. Share it. Among money, knowledge makes the galaxy go around." Along with this, he paused, then resumed, nodding and rubbing the back of his neck with his hand, sighing, "But...yeah, I guess I can show them something as an apology for...scaring them"

Andanian turned around and then put his fingers on his temples, "Ugh, yeah...those crates aren't cheap...nor are they mine. The Alliance lent them to me, along with my ship. When they hear I had some of their stuff broken, it's coming out of my check...the check that i'm apparently not even getting now." he said with stress in his voice.

"I was taking it back to Sullust for the Alliance war effort. Rumors say they're plotting to attack the Empire somewhere close by. I'm still working on getting them to trust me to fight for them, so i've been working some jobs for them. Smuggling goods to Alliance supporters, salvaging new gear for the soldiers, working a hydrospanner with their starships, that kinda stuff." If the clone child knew anyhing about modern imperials, he would easily be able to tell Andanian's accent was a thick imperial one. He was no doubt of imperial blood, so what was he doing with the roughneck Alliance rebels?

"Hang on Jareb, I'm coming!" Poy got in behind him and saw two heat-seeking missiles fly underneath her X-Wing and line up on Jareb. Getting on her quad cannons, the Twi'lek fired off quite a few rounds and blew the missiles to pieces. "All clear back here!" Poy lined up alongside Jareb for the run against the bridge. "Here's hoping that once we get rid of the flagship they give up and go home," she muttered over the comlink.

She saw the pirates in the broken bridge, getting ready for another assault by the X-Wing fighters. "Where's Cuann?! I thought he would have wanted to be here with us when we take down their mothership?" Poy scanned all around for sight of his craft, but he was nowhere to be found. Arming the proton torpedoes for another run in, Poy took a deep breath and then she said a silent prayer to Great Mother Kikalekki.

"Great Mother Goddess, protect me in this hour of greatest need. Watch over one of your loving daughters of Ryloth, and bring her home," the flagship filled up her sights and her finger hovered over the firing button. "Are you ready Jareb?" she asked over the comlink, as R2-Q2 beeped and booped in the rear of the X-Wing, telling Poy how dangerous he thought this idea was.

It came with the slightest of vibrations.

They always did.

Gentle pads would dribble across silk, alert. Wary. What was that?

The Weaver would carefully strand more silk, the Force flowing and ebbing throughout that mental chamber. She just had to focus. Had to keep working. She couldn't stop. Yet there was something testing the tensile strength of her web. An object far larger than she could anticipate.

No, she couldn't pull away now. She had to remain constant.

All around her, the buzz of bees would threaten to overwhelm. Each had needs. Desires. Fears of their own. No, she had to give them purpose. Bring them to a united front.

Beads of sweat began to form, and there was the slightest of trembles upon her hands.

Yet all the wall she felt as if an ominous shadow would soon threaten to overtake her.

The bartender gave the Jedi a warning look that clearly said she did not want to have to clean up a mess.

"A deal is more than credits, more than reputation or risk or a client or anything else." Nubica picked up her drink, ignoring the bartender, then turned and stood. "A deal is all those things, but it's nothing if it doesn't have the right outcome."

"I told you, we can pull this job off." The woman was looking Nubica over suspiciously.

Nubica pulled out the empty chair and sat down between the man with the plan and the woman, facing the burly one. She grinned, then raised her glass and drained it. In this line of work, she’d grown accustomed to alcohol. And learned the old Jedi trick where it had zero effect on you too.

"Nah," she said.

"And you're so certain?" the burly one asked.

"Pretty certain, yeah."

"How's that?"

Nubica tilted her chair onto its back legs and looked around the bar. No one else was listening. No one else was paying attention. At the door, the bouncer had turned away and was watching the entrance while scratching behind one ear with a paw. Nubica turned the empty glass in her hand, as if considering its potential, or at least lamenting its emptiness.

"You buy me a drink," she said, "And I'll tell you a story about the a space station."

They bought her a drink and listened.

[background=transparent]Objective 2[/size][/background]

[background=transparent]Jacen reeled from the string of attacks that came at him. Being yanked out of the battle meditation’s influence so suddenly was jarring and his opponents were capitalising on this. Scarlet blades came within inches of ending his fight. [/size][/background]

[background=transparent]There was a shrill cry behind him as Padawan Bronen was cut down. Now the other Padawan was taking on two acolytes alone, whilst another was bearing down on the remaining soldiers. The situation was bleak. As he’d been pulled out of the influence of A’dele’s battle meditation he had brushed against another presence. In that moment he’d sensed its intention. It was going after her. [/size][/background]

[background=transparent]This was their base of operations. Somewhere in this warehouse was a dark jedi attempting to strike back at A’dele as well as the Force Sensitives they had been capturing. Defeat was not an option. This was no time to be cautious, he had to take control.[/size][/background]

[background=transparent]Gathering the Force around him Jacen launched himself into the air, aiming for the top level of racking against the wall. The two acolytes launched themselves after him. Yet as Jacen’s feet touched the edge of the top level he bent his knees and pressed back off. Reversing his direction he went back and up in an arc. The first acolyte passed right underneath him and Jacen lashed out. There was a cry and the darksider crumped as he landed on the racks. He was still alive, but Jacen’s strike had severed his spine. [/size][/background]

[background=transparent]Landing back down on the ground some twenty feet below after his feat of acrobatics.. Jacen ignored the acolyte above who was checking his partner over. Instead he turned towards the remaining Padawan. One of the two sith heard the warning call and turned to face him. [/size][/background]

[background=transparent]Eschewing his typically defensive nature Jacen’s saber came down from on high in a typical Djem So opener. The ferocity behind the blow knocked the red blade off line and Jacen capitalised with a thrust to the heart. [/size][/background]

[background=transparent]He heard the cloak flapping in the air and turned again before rolling to the side. The acolyte had leaped down from the racks to cut him down, but his blade caught only the air. Rather than engage again, Jacen’s blaster came up with a quick double tap. The acolyte hadn’t expected that and the two bolts caught him in the midriff and chest. [/size][/background]

[background=transparent]Padawan Grask had now reached the upper hand. A subtle twist of the blade and he forced his acolyte’s blade wide before cutting it free at the elbow. Two last remaining two soldiers had split up and overwhelmed the final darksider with blaster fire. [/size][/background]

[background=transparent]Jacen’s blade was turned off as her surveyed the scene. One of the soldiers found the bank of light switches. What a mess. One dead Padawan, two dead soldiers. But in return six killed acolytes, one captured. [/size][/background]

[background=transparent]~[/size][/background]

[background=transparent]Scarlet bands flashed across its black chitinous hide as it closed on the centre of the web. Qorbin found another thread and more morsels gathered. As he touched those strands they turned dark and brittle. Several Alliance pilots were suddenly overwhelmed with fear rather than hope.[/size][/background]

[background=transparent]Come on out! he called. Perhaps if challenged she would reveal herself. They he could work out exactly where she was. This wasn’t a battle he planned to win. No, he wanted to take a piece of the board for the war. If she retreated from him, he would not be able to follow. [/size][/background]

[background=transparent]Back in the hall Qorbin called out: “Power up the ion cannon.”[/size][/background]

[background=transparent]“Master? We only deployed one. Once it is revealed they will destroy it. I though...”[/size][/background]

[background=transparent]“It does not matter. There is just one ship we need to bring down to us.”[/size][/background]

Three pre-dated the Galactic Empire.

Not by much, but he'd crashed landed on Lothal in the current year prior to Supreme Chancellor Palpatine's Declaration of a New Order. So if there was an Imperial accent, it wasn't one that the small clone was familiar with. In the same way, the boy looked as though he was impressed when the man said he was twelve.

Clones were graduated from the Kamino training regiments at ten years, at which point they were roughly equivalent to twenty standard years in a human. With the vicious fighting, it was uncommon for a clone to live to see twelve. Fifteen was venerable among them. For that same reason though...

"Fifty?" the youngling echoed, the look on his face making it clear that he wasn't certain whether the man was being sarcastic or funny. "No one lives to be fifty!"

That was basically a hundred in clone years.

Making his way back to where the crate had been dumped over, the boy labored to flip the grounded crate right-side up, and then began picking up the articles that had spilled out of it, so that he could begin picking up the mess.
