Omega Event Rewards

[member="Captain Larraq"]

All bronze tier folks can instead choose to get 10 posts off a dev thread of their choice rather than using the Omegium. That's nothing to sneeze at.

I wanted something unique for this event, but since it's being given out literally to more than 50 writers it couldn't be as good as a restricted material. Nor would it be of any use for me to allow people to plate starships or armour with it since that would make a lie of its rarity. It's a trinket and little more, and as I said you can use a dev thread reduction instead, or choose not to use it at all.

Events are not primarily about rewards, and grubbing for the best you can get. Rewards are just that; things given out for good conduct OOC and IC, for writing talent and participation. If you are getting into a writing event solely for the rewards you're looking at it in a backwards way. If your main concern are rewards then I cannot help you if you are upset about what you do or don't get.

I was faced with a question about how many rewards should be given out. In the end I went for much more and much more generously than I had originally planned. The more rewards one gives out the more one must water down said reward. So I went for many bronze tier rewards to show people that their efforts had been noticed and rewarded, but in doing so I had to make the reward for that less strong than it had once been.

There is a lot to learn from running my first event and I trust next time I'll have a better idea on how to balance things.

Lessen the requirement on a ten post thread? Dude, you could use that for anything.

I'd be happy with that. I didn't expect to get some special all powerful metal, or a special weapon. But, I do like the tags.

At the risk of being the guy asking the dumb/obvious question, can I get a clarification on the reward types? I received a silver personal reward, and when I was reading the options of rewards I thought the ones marked 'Any' were available to any type of reward, including personal ones. On second reading I thought maybe it referred to any faction-size reward.

I only ask because the 'No development thread for a unique station' reward marked 'Any' looked really, really tempting. Starfighter Corps needs a righteous headquarters/flight academy station to help recoup the losses suffered against the Rogue Sith, lol!

If that is a no-go in terms of a personal silver reward I understand! I'm not trying to be too selfless here and sneak in an additional faction reward, it just seemed like a good idea. I could always do for using the personal reward to make myself a phrik flight suit :)

Thanks very much for the bronze! I'm pleased to have been awarded anything at all and with the Omega Thread I broke 100 posts so it's really brought me further into the fold of the site.

Also go First Order!

:D :D :D

Just to add to questions that probably don't need to be asked.

Say theoretically I use my silver personal reward to claim a canon item. Can that item then be moved through accounts as per the normal means (if I was to auction it for example) or does the "reward have to be used by the account" spread past just the use of it to claim?

Are you planning to take the Omegium award? I can offer a few general suggestions:
  • Weapons
  • Personal Tech
  • Starship Components
I'm sure there are other categories out there, but these are the first ones to come to mind. Take your category and then decide what your character might like to have, and then someone can help from there. :)

For those receiving event NPC lightsabers [member="Matsu Xiangu"] [member="Dax Fyre"] [member="Wolf"]

I will be subbing those sabers for you over the next week or so. Once they are squared away I will PM you the link to your sabers :)

[member="Vustia"] hmm well we can make you a saber a very cool one. Matsu is an artisan and you met her now for your redemption. We could get you some very nice things in a saber.
