All bronze tier folks can instead choose to get 10 posts off a dev thread of their choice rather than using the Omegium. That's nothing to sneeze at.
I wanted something unique for this event, but since it's being given out literally to more than 50 writers it couldn't be as good as a restricted material. Nor would it be of any use for me to allow people to plate starships or armour with it since that would make a lie of its rarity. It's a trinket and little more, and as I said you can use a dev thread reduction instead, or choose not to use it at all.
Events are not primarily about rewards, and grubbing for the best you can get. Rewards are just that; things given out for good conduct OOC and IC, for writing talent and participation. If you are getting into a writing event solely for the rewards you're looking at it in a backwards way. If your main concern are rewards then I cannot help you if you are upset about what you do or don't get.
I was faced with a question about how many rewards should be given out. In the end I went for much more and much more generously than I had originally planned. The more rewards one gives out the more one must water down said reward. So I went for many bronze tier rewards to show people that their efforts had been noticed and rewarded, but in doing so I had to make the reward for that less strong than it had once been.
There is a lot to learn from running my first event and I trust next time I'll have a better idea on how to balance things.
