Kahlil snickered as he heard Valery curse, but he did agree. If the Basilisks weren't a threat any longer, then-

He pulled the controls, angling the ship down. Straight down. "Get to the ramp. Once we land, they'll start firing. If we want to keep flying we need to make sure they don't hit anything important." And not mess up the paint. He could fix it if he had to, but it did take a lot out of him to do it.

"Loomi, stay with Valery. Don't go off on your own, understood?"

"Protective over the Bastion, are we?"

Was she teasing him right before going into a battle with Mandalorians who wanted to destroy their ship and kill them? Absolutely, and he'd have done the exact same thing. But despite the grin on her face, Valery was very focused the moment the ramp lowered and blaster fire started coming their way.

She jumped out, both of her lightsabers drawn into her hands, and began deflecting as much incoming fire as she possibly could. Normally, she'd have already charged ahead, as the Sword would, but with Kahlil instructing Loomi to stay close, maybe it was her turn to be the Shield and leave the advance to Kahlil for now.

"Come on, Loomi! Keep yourself safe above all else!"

It was going to be necessary because the Mandalorians were moving to intercept. Under suppressive fire of a few, others made their way down with vibro-blades, intent to tear the Jedi apart in melee combat.

A mistake, in Valery's opinion.

"Love! We've got some incoming!" She called out to get him to focus on those.

"Come on, Loomi! Keep yourself safe above all else!"

"Y-yup," Loomi nodded nervously.

She could do that. Almost immediately she began weaving. Nothing complex, just a shield. They were pretty easy to make, and Loomi found herself making them all the time to protect herself and others. With the shield constructed the Godoan positioned herself behind Valery, just in time too. It wasn't long before blaster bolts began sailing their way.

Something felt wrong about all of this. She knew that her skill was minimal, but the teen couldn't help but feel like she was weighing the Jedi Master's down. There had to be something she could do, right?

Loomi reached out in the force, drawing a thread from the forehead of one of the Mandalorians at the forefront. She wove the thread into their helmet before giving it a telekinetic yank, driving them to the ground. It was, ultimately, just one guy, but it was better than nothing. Satisfied, at least a little, the Godoan returned to the cover of her shield.

Beskar made for a poor opponent for a Jedi. Their sabers couldn't cut through it, and more often than not a Jedi was trained to fight solely with their Lightsabers. Thankfully he wasn't the only one here who seemed to know a different way to fight. He stepped out beside Loomi once he was finished making sure the Bastion was settled, smirking just a bit. So this was mistweaving, huh? "You've got yourself a fascinating ability, Loomi. Remind me to ask you more about it some time."

Not now of course. He glanced to Valery, giving her a simple nod as he reached his arm out towards the coming Mandalorians.

Then brought it down. The Force flexed under his guidance, bringing down a crushing weight in an instant. And with it, the Mandalorians too close to him dropped. He wasn't gentle about it. Concussions, broken bones, he wouldn't be surprised if that happened. They could be outright dead if not for the armor they wore.

"Cut them down, love."

"Great job, Loomi!" Valery encouraged once more, after the young Padawan had pulled on a familiar skill to pull one Mandalorian down to the ground. While Valery was no mistweaver herself, she had met several who were in recent years. Right now, it'd be a useful skill, but Valery wasn't lacking in skills to handle Mandalorians and their armor herself. So as soon as Kahlil raised a hand to bring down those in front of them, she moved.

"On it, love!"

Her gaze shifted into the Force, and as she made her approach, Valery summoned and guided the Force into the fault lines of their armor, causing Beskar to crack at what seemed like the wave of her hand. Right on time for her to sweep in, and finish them off with a series of quick sweeps from her blade. These Mandalorians wouldn't ever surrender, so giving them their warrior's death was the only way to do this.

But moments after Valery had taken them down, several others took the skies with their jetpacks, and released their whistling birds together, hoping to overwhelm the Jedi with the sheer amount of little missiles.

Missiles. They... didn't have a way to stop those, did they? Everything seemed to slow for a moment as Loomi began to thing about what she could possibly do. Her shield wouldn't help, it was only omnidirectional. She definately didn't have enough time to weave something new. How was she supposed to protect Valery and Kahlil? They... No, they were okay. They were strong, right?

Anxiety wormed its way into the Godoan's mind. She couldn't stop thinking about the possibility of things going terribly wrong. All of that stress built up, until finally:

An explosion of energy rippled out around the trio, destroying the whistling birds and launching a few of the Mandalorians.

Her mind flashed for a moment, and Loomi could see her dead captors around her while she lie free from her binds on the medical table. When she was back in the moment she was terrified. The idea that she may have killed somebody became unbearable. The girl would turn between Valery and Kahlil with a look of desperation on her face.

"I-I didn't mean to do that!" she swore. "I-It just happened!"

She had just been scared. That was all.

Kahlil_Div2.png

"Breath, Loomi."

Kahlil was by her side in an instant, gently setting a hand on her shoulder. The chaos of the battle mattered little to him, not with her panicking. A rune to form a barrier around them would be enough until he could get her to calm down.

Panic would only make things worse.

"Breath. When you panic, your power stops being your own. You must calm down."

The explosion that destroyed the whistling birds and knocked around some Mandalorians was a familiar one. A Force Repulse, though luckily not one of the most destructive variants yet, likely because she was only a young Padawan. Only just recently, Valery had used this same skill to nearly kill a Mandalorian warrior on Rodia, so perhaps this was something she could guide Loomi with later, once she was safe.

An unrestrained Repulse would vaporize anything around it, after all. This had to be controlled.

Kahlil was luckily quick to jump to Loomi's aid and with a barrier made sure they weren't so easily shot at. But through their bond, Valery echoed that she'd be helping as well. She jumped into the air, positioning herself right between some of the still airborne Mandalorians, and spun around with her lightsabers. On the way down, she extended a telekinetic grip to pull them along, and she hoped to keep them away like this.

But one Mandalorian warrior, vibro-knife in hand, had snuck around and lunged at the Godoan from behind in an attempt to surprise and gut her for blasting his brothers and sisters.

Kahlil_Div2.png

The knife never reached Loomi. With Kahlil literally standing beside her, he didn't have to look in the way of danger before he outright crushed the Mandalorian into the ground. Unconscious, dead, it didn't matter. There was no chance a Padawan would come to harm while the Shield stood vigilant. And even then, he just smiled to her.

"You're going to be alright."

"Breath. When you panic, your power stops being your own. You must calm down."

Loomi tried to do this, but her anxiety only grew worse when a Mandalorian came for her with a blade. Kahlil made quick work of them though, driving them into the ground. A sigh escaped from the padawan, her antennae flattening down in front of her face.

"Okay," Loomi nodded, hanging her head a little. "I'm sorry..."

This was probably the last time she'd be taken on a mission for a while, she reasoned.

Wait, no. Master Kahlil was just giving her support and words of advice. They wanted to teach her. Why did she keep leaping to extremes so often? Her focus was very much broken now between her fear and the Mandalorian attacking her from behind, so there really wasn't much she could do now but try her best to keep a level head.

<Love we should fall back a bit. Can you cover Loomi?>

More Mandalorians were showing up, hoping to overwhelm the Jedi now that their attention was split between fighting and taking care of the younger Padawan. Valery could keep up, and Kahlil certainly could too, but it meant taking risk. The locals, who had been fighting as well, were starting to retreat too, and waved at the Jedi to follow them. Retreat was sometimes hard to accept, but regrouping to fight off the invaders was perhaps not a bad idea.

Especially not because more and more Mandalorians were showing up, and the defensive lines of the locals were far too chaotic. They would have already crumbled if the Jedi hadn't shown up to help them.

"We can reposition and plan our next move!" She then called out as she made her way back over with a series of jumps. It'd let her focus on shielding both her husband and Loomi if necessary

Kahlil_Div2.png

"Don't apologize."

Kahlil continued to smile regardless, gently patting the top of Loomi's head. It didn't matter there was danger around, she was going to be fine. And he wanted her to understand it. Grant it, they couldn't stay where they were. He frowned, glancing towards Valery before nodding. Moving wasn't going to be easy, not with the Mandalorains around anyway. "We have to move though. So stay close. Alright?"

"We have to move though. So stay close. Alright?"

Loomi nodded, positioning herself next to Kahlil. Things were getting even more intense now, with more Mandalorians seeming to come out of nowhere. Everything was a mess. She repositioned her shield to intercept some more incoming shots while she began to move forward with the Jedi Master.

"W-what's the plan?" she asked. "I-I don't think we can take them all on..."

Once Kahlil and Loomi started moving, Valery was quick to follow. She trusted her husband to cover Loomi up-close if it was necessary, but it also seemed that the Padawan was doing a good job at shielding herself for now. Slowly but surely, they were able to make their way out of the combat area with just a bit of help from the locals opening fire to suppress the Mandalorians. But it wasn't long until it seemed that the Mandalorians backed off a little.

Perhaps to recover their own casualties.

"This way, we've got a base nearby," one of the locals, an older human man in his 50s or so told the Jedi. He then led the way out of the forest clearing, through the trees, branches and bushes, and not long after, they'd be able to see a few buildings hidden deeper within the forest. Other locals, armed with whatever weapons and armor pieces they could find, walked around or were helping the wounded to their makeshift medical center.

"We weren't expecting Jedi but it's a welcomed surprise," he then added with a chuckle. "We've been trying to fight them back, but now that they've got the clearing, they're too close to us for comfort. We could use your help to fight them back."

Valery sighed and looked at the other two, "Are you two doing okay enough to keep going?"

Kahlil_Div2.png

"For the moment, find a place to not get shot at."

Baby steps, more or less. He'd protect Loomi on the way to the refuge, inwardly trying not to shed a tear at the fact he was very much leaving the Bastion at the mercy of the Mandalorians they'd been fighting. The things they'd probably try to do, ah. So much work had already been done to get it back to factory new.

Ah well, at least he could do it again.

"I am, as always, fine." Once they were safe, he gave Valery a simple nod. Then looked down towards Loomi. She was the one by far he was worried about. He didn't expect a full on warzone like this.

"How do you feel, Loomi?"

They had made it to a refuge, a point in which they were no longer being shot. That was relieving, at least for the time being.

"How do you feel, Loomi?"

"Tired," she admitted. "Th-this has been a lot to keep up with."

That wasn't even mentioning how sleep deprived she had been. The Godoan was still struggling with bouts of nightmares that kept her up at night. To say that these were beginning to take their tole on her was a bit of an understatement.

"I think I may need a minute."

<I'm sure your beloved Bastion will be fine~>

If he thought he'd be able to keep those inner tears away from her, he'd have to think again. This was a serious situation, but if there was any opportunity to tease him a little bit, she'd always take it. There weren't too many moments like that, after all. But after shooting him a grin, she refocused and turned to Loomi, who expressed that she was tired. After everything that happened in the last day or two, Valery understood that perfectly.

"Love, I could take her and try to find a place to sleep a bit or at least get some rest? Maybe you want to work with the locals to figure out the next step?" Or the other way around, but Loomi had seemed particularly calm around Valery. Or, at least, Valery believed that to be the case, considering that Loomi had reached for her hand for comfort back on Zolan.

"If you three need rest, please take it. We'll have some time before we strike back, but when we do, we really need your assistance. The Mandalorians only understand a strong message," the older man said, his eyes shifting to Loomi for a moment. She was just a kid, so he didn't want to be too tough on her, but he really hoped to get some Jedi help today.

Kahlil_Div2.png

<I know.>

He chuckled a little louder than he wanted to to her little teasing, probably to the confusion to the people around them. His smile softened after a moment as he instead reached down to pat Loomi's shoulder. She wasn't ready for this kind of conflict, that much was obvious. But-

"Mistweaving, right? That's what you did earlier. It's a skill that's quite useful for healing. How well would you say you are at healing with it?"

There were always other ways to help fight the fight, after all.

"Love, I could take her and try to find a place to sleep a bit or at least get some rest? Maybe you want to work with the locals to figure out the next step?"

Rest... that sounded nice. She felt a little guilty doing so while these people needed help, but at least they seemed to be understanding enough. Then Master Kahlil though of something that she had not yet thought of, though something that she had made an attempt at before.

"Healing?" she remarked, tilting her head. "W-well, I could probably stitch up a wound here and there, b-but I've not trained to do anything too much more than that."

Hopefully that wasn't too bad.

At first, Valery perked a brow at her husband's question, but as she turned to Loomi, she began to understand. This fight was incredibly intense and likely too much to throw a Padawan into. But if she had the ability to heal people, there was a different way for her to help out. The camp was full of injured people, ranging from very mild cuts and bruises to some more serious, life-threatening injuries.

Even just a little bit of help would go a long way.

"Well, what I think my husband is getting at is that you could help some of the people here. That way they can keep fighting, and you won't have to be thrown so directly into the fight." She looked at Kahlil for confirmation.

"We can handle the Mandalorians."
